you are overstating. when coal gas ovens were no longer an option for committing suicide, the suicide rates in the US and UK dropped precipitous, and those rates has never returned to previous levels. assume removal o' a modality will resort in people moving on to the next most convenient option is a mistake. https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/563424-psaki-criticizes-loaded-and-inaccurate-vaccine-misinformation before doocy made an arse o' himself assuming stuff into existence, an independent and not government study showed how a relative small number o' sources is producing the bulk o' the misinformation on social media. 'course the study ignored folks such as doocy. point is, the sources o' misinformation is not as ubiquitous as bruce suggests. is kinda shocking how much damage is being done by what amounts to a bit more than a double- handful o' sources. but yeah, is not just a facebook thing (never suggested such, so strawman away on that one) which is part o' why am not in favor o' government regulation. fb "contributes" to the problem, and so does twitter and so does fox news and whichever conservative radio personalities has filled the rush void. where does the regulation with good intentions end? 'course the bigger issue is it is too late to fix the problem by demanding truth. the people who believe the government conspiracy which is covid and vaccines is not gonna give up their stoopid if the government steps in and tomorrow silences facebook and twitter and tucker carlson when they offer manifest untrue info. the opposite from the intended result is likely as censorship is gonna be seen as validation that gd's they is really out to get conservatives. too late. HA! Good Fun!2 points

But...the masks weren't to stop the wearer from getting sick, it was to prevent the wearer from making everyone else sick. So not wearing a mask in public had a much bigger responsibility on the individual beyond their mask wearer's own health. Do you think the individuals right to not wear a mask trumps the rights of those who come involuntarily into that person's presence to not get sick?1 point

Its not just damage immune enemies, but almost every enemy has 1 damage type that they weakest against. So I want a weapon set for each damage type. If you split damage types in a set, then half of your attacks will be less effective. Within a weapon set of the same damage type, the benefit of using different types of weapons is access to 2 modals instead of 1. Dual wielding triggers more 'chance on hit' effects, 2-handed has better penetration.1 point

Referring specifically to COVID-19 I don’t think “they” are out to “get” conservatives or anyone else. The problem with the pandemic and the response to it right from the get go is nobody really knew what to do. All of the advice we were getting from authority figures was conflicting. Wear a mask. Don’t wear a mask. Wear two masks. It came from a lab. No it came from people eating bats. No develop naturally and you are a racist if you think otherwise. It was asking too much for the Trump administration to have handled this better than they did. When you have no idea what you’re doing you just slip in to your default position which is “everything is fine nothing to see here move along“. On the other side the Democrats went the other way into their default position of full on police state. Shut down, lockdown, obey, obey, obey. Especially damning when so many of the the Democrat governors, Congressman and others didn’t even pay lip service to their own restrictions. Right away that tells people that everything is bulls—t and it feeds the notion it’s all about grabbing power. human beings are selfish, greedy, grasping and stupid. Putting a handful of them into government and giving them power over the other human beings does not change that about them. And anyone who just expects the worst qualities of their fellow humans will seldom be disappointed. Those qualities have been on full display on both sides of the US political aisle throughout the pandemic. So one side locks everything down, shut down businesses, basically puts people on house arrest, and then goes to lavish parties and resorts, beaches where they have it to themselves, or like in Michigan they go fishing on the lake they ordered everyone off of. After that you have no credibility to come back and talk down your nose at people. Of course on the other side of the political divide we got an equally stupid and opposite reaction that the whole thing is a hoax the vaccines or some kind of mine control and you’re a tool if you wear a mask. The other problem was they were painting COVID-19 as though it were the black plague. Yes it was dangerous. Half a million people in the United States have died from it. But it also has a 99.8% survivability and is so severe that often times you have to take a test even find out you have it. they created a disconnect between what people are hearing coming from the government and what they are seeing in their real lives. you put all this together in a nation where people are already defiant of authority and mistrustful of the government just by their very nature and you get what we had the last two years. Biden is doing it again. It’s true he’s not talking about actually censoring social media. He’s asking them to do it for him. If half the country already thinks you’re a monster the worst thing you can do is become one. Or sound like one. I would just tell everyone not everything we read online is true. Caveat emptor.1 point

They are not immune to screw ups if that's what you mean. Like contacting all the people who been near a large grocery store... just to find out a few days later that there are two grocery stores from the same franchise nearby and the "other" one was the correct one (so nobody got tracked for days there). But apart from some such obvious human errors, it does seem to do its job. People get identified, isolated, tested and if necessary isolated for a longer time (if testing positive). @Zoraptoryeah, of course, it could have been a lot worse. The main frustration is really over wasted opportunities and incompetence. The state PM's and state governments (especially the Victorian, Queensland and Western Australian) did all the hard work and turned the initial outbreak into a success story. But complacency (and a lack of national leadership) is threatening it at the moment.1 point
-
The snap lockdowns is to give contact tracers a chance to identify all the people who have been in contact with somebody who has been in contact with somebody etc. to get them to self isolate (and tested), which people have done. It has worked the last 12 months... The lockdown itself is only to stop the spread in its tracks until all possible infected people have been identified and isolated. The lockdown itself doesn't stop the spread as such.1 point

Nope, not like that. Conversions will get rolled one after the other until they all got rolled or until one actually converts. So in your example first Berserker Frenzy checks if it will convert a hit to a crit. If not, then Disciplined Strikes gets checked and so on until one triggers or all got checked without success. Thus, the stacking is a series of chances. You can calculate the final chance rel. easily as follows: Multiply the chances NOT to convert (so for example Berserker Frenzy has a 70% chance not to convert - or a 0.7 multiplier). 0.7 Berserker Frenzy * 0.7 Barbaric Blow * 0.75 Disciplined Strikes = roughly 0.37. So you'll have a 37% chance NOT to convert - or in other words a 66% chance to convert. You can simply add more multipliers to that calculation (Uncanny Luck, weapon conversions, Blood Slaughter etc.). Berserker/Fighter has one of the highest "passive" melee crit conversion rates of all multiclasses. I even think the highest if you consider Bloody Slaughter, too. Barbaric Blow is very good with high crit chance (in addition to its own conversion) because it does a lot more dmg then. It's quite expensive so it better be worth it. By the way: usually different kinds of conversion won't "chain". So for example a hit from a graze-to-hit conversion will not get converted further to a crit. The general rule is: only one type of conversion per attack.1 point

Yes. I think it was draconian. Doesn't mean it wasn't necessary. The result was the 'de facto' eradication of the virus. What happens now is unnecessary, which makes the whole thing frustrating. Brisbane had two snap lockdowns, 5 days each, the last year. Big deal. Melbourne had a few too. But then one, just one, state government decides nah, we don't want to do that. Nothing's gonna happen. Nnap lockdowns is not wanted by the local businesses. Well, guess what, those businesses are going to see a LOT less business for a long time to come. Of course, the problems sort of starts at the top with no proper way of handling travelers arriving in Australia in a safe manner. Edit: Snap lockdowns in Brisbane was taken in a good spirit, turning into a fashion contest, who can come up with the most colourful and decorative masks etc. Edit2: Despite having registered for vaccinations almost 2 months ago now, no word whatsoever of any vaccine availability.1 point

Utena, up to episode 14. I feel like I no longer have any clue what's going on in this show. majestic wasn't kidding about this show going places...and ye gods, I'm really getting a little sick and tired of people having siblings. Let no other characters have siblings for the rest of this entire show, thank you very much.1 point

I think both the graphic and this statement are the wrong way to look at the issue. We have enough food to feed the world. We have enough roofs to house the people. We also have the resources and the technology to send people to space. It's not like if we grounded these rockets, suddenly we would solve the first two problems. The problems are too complex to solve with simple memes.1 point

Still sitting on the backburner for me... At least it's finally over. It didn't quite live up to the original show, but I'm super glad to hear it was ever so close, . Weirdly, I saw it (as well as Scipio's Dream) mentioned in the lyrics of a Utena song as well - literally on the night of the same day I watched Night on the Galactic Railroad. Was a little weird, .1 point

it's hardly scapegoating. +99% of the people current being hospitalized and/or dying of covid in the US is unvaccinated. antivaxers, pre 2016, were limited to a segment o' the minority population and liberal women/mothers particular in a few geographical strongholds which tragic led to publicized measles outbreaks and the like. what changed? instead o' hippie moms, why is now white and male conservatives, who if you use a venn diagram has considerable overlap with those who believe the 2020 election were stolen, is now making up the bulk o' those espousing vaccine hesitancy? why did so many male conservatives sudden become vaccine hesitant when for years they thought immunization were fine and good? at this time last year, people in the US were dying of covid. this year people are dying unnecessarily o' covid. +99% bruce. in a few days, the rate o' vaccination in canada is gonna eclipse US numbers, in spite o' fact that today near anybody in the united states over a certain age and not immuno-suppressed is eligible to get a free covid vaccination. again, +99% o' those dying and/or facing hospitalization due to covid in the US is unvaccinated. the misinformation is literal killing people, and the longer this continues, the chances o' variants increase which put everybody, even the vaccinated, at risk o' a repeat o' 2020. am glad Gromnir don't have some kinda special authority to shutdown social media platform disinformation. we don't have responsibility so is easier for us to make observations 'bout long-term impact o' government interference with the internet. we don't have the spectres o' unnecessary dead weighing on our conscience. not scapegoating. not even close. HA! Good Fun!1 point

I'm not saying you can't use a different order and make all drugs effects work with enough tries, I'm saying that the specific order is going to minimize the number of drugs eaten (exactly ONE per type of drug) and the number of save/reload cycles needed for it to work (ONE cycle per drug), and I still think this is not by chance and that this information is useful for a real ultimate run when not spamming save/reload might be required.1 point

Lord Darryn's Voulge is great in melee with a Barbarian because Carnage works with Static Charge. That turns the Voulge into an AoE weapon. You don't need to bind the Voulge to the Barbaria class for this. You can bind it to the Druid class and get the +3 PL to Storm spells and get Static Charge, too. The Barbarian side would give static thunder which would also disorient - but imo one can pass that as a Tempest and go for the +3 PL for storms instead.1 point

No, you can make almost any order work I tried that extensively. If you get stuck on a specific drug just take literally any other drug sof a couple times save and reload and go back to the drug that didn't work. This is not a puzzle its one of many bugs, lol. The chromoprismatic buffs can be kept without having the staff equipped, as with pretty much any item related buff in this game the name of the buff changes to the name of the item if you take it off, quicksave and reload. This will take off any metaphysics scaling however, so the buff will be pretty small.1 point

I gave the girls real daggers. It is a dangerous world, and now that at least Lucia has had a lot of training, it felt like it was time. The moment she got a real dagger, Sofia, who never cared about sword practice went wild. I actually had to put a stop to the training because the furniture was becoming collateral damage.1 point

Still playing Assassin's Creed Rogue. Much like in Black Flag, the ship you sail is a brig. You can upgrade it and make it a really powerful brig, but there are limits to how many canons you can fit on a ship of that size. However, there is a short section of the game where they put you in command of a man o' war and it's GLORIOUS. Sailing through choppy waters while mortar fire rains down around you, another ship is coming around to ram you, smoke is everywhere so you can hardly see, and you desperately aim your cannons through the chaos and open up a broadside volley on the charging ship. The only thing missing: Seriously, Ubisoft, how do you not splurge for a Manowar track for that section, you cheapskates?1 point

I said that I expect Revolutionary Girl Utena's nature to change now that the Black Rose Saga has started. If you thought this was a weird surrealist fever dream, wait until you get to to episode 14 where it goes into HAMON OVERDRIVE, and adds an extra deep layer of squick on top. Separate spoiler for the squicky part: late edit just to not make more posts by my lonesome: Nanami really is a nutjob. Utena and whoever else is around the shadowplays have started to talk to them when the shadows are doing their, uhm, shadowplay.1 point

early on I agree with you, but later on I feel like one generally has enough ability points or spells and action economy is more of a thing that empowering an ability/spell starts making more sense. Accurate Empower goes a long way into making empowering an ability/spell really worth it. As alluded above, I pick up Acc Empower on most characters that can when they're high enough level. There are some exceptions - for example a martial multiclass barbarians I may not have anything worth empowering (oh yay a longer frenzy...). After that it depends on the class. Single-class damage dealers get penetrating empower, then potent empower. Single-class misc classes get lasting empower, and then maybe the other two if needed. The only specific "rule" I have about empowering is sasha's, like others have said, but also least unstable coil + the right caster, and weyc's equipment. Other than that, I just suggest that even on upscaled PotD you don't really need all those spells - a properly empowered high-level spell will obviate the need for more spells because you'll be doing so much more extra that the fight will be over much sooner. E.G. one cast of a fully-upgraded empowered missile salvo will be enough to kill most FS bosses on its own. I'd also suggest that empowering an ability is much more useful for a chanter because getting half your resources back is rarely ever nearly as good when you're automatically generating them. (Somewhat true as well for monk and cipher) it's a little tougher with martial classes because they are more constrained. i may also have specific uses that i'd rather have the efficiency of more ability points than making one ability use more powerful - for example, mc fighters or mc/sc rangers i use are typically interrupt machines [mule kick or concussive/tranq shot] so i'd much rather just keep interrupting than make one interrupt slightly better. but otherwise i wouldn't underestimate how effective e.g. an empowered dazing shout, empowered inspired strike, empowered tier 9 paladins [properly geared] can be.1 point

Had some free time and wanted to test out a few things in photoshop. I won't be posting anymore watercolour conversions after these though. Just feels a bit iffy to be altering the work of others without any idea of whose work I am altering, and really just worry about becoming the dead end of a google image search. Wasn't sure if the burn was intended or just a error in the process. Actually managed to find the source for this one Edit: Meant to include these when I originally posted, but due to how dark the image is and some compression artifacting it looked a bit messy.1 point

Looks like things are completely falling apart in Sydney and NSW these days. Over a 100 daily new cases now. No surprise of course, if look at the NSW government and their taking ineptitude to new attitudes. No surprise it's the same political party as the federal party (who completely ****ed up the vaccination programmes) Nobody can get any clear messages from the NSW as the message changes by the hour and sometime being completely contradictory... yay The Liberal Party, the scourge of Australia (mostly kept alive by the fossil fuel industry and Murdoch Media). https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-07-18/nsw-records-105-covid-19-cases/100302152 It is now also threatening to spill over into Melbourne and VIC, as people have been traveling from Sydney to Melbourne while being infected (employees of a removal company doing some rather dodgy stuff, not wanting to share where they went and not wearing masks, despite coming from a "red zone" mask mandatory area)... and because the federal government has no clue what they are doing, Australia is now somewhere down in the third world tier when it comes to vaccinations. The Liberal Party has offered federal support to the government of NSW of course, unlike the other two states (QLD and VIC) who had to do lockdown and got zero aid (those states being governed by the opposition party). Edit: Background... every now and then, the virus escapes quarantine, because people are only required to quarantine for 2 weeks. The federal government has been unable to provide actual quarantine facilities for people entering Australia (you would think Christmas Island was an obvious candidate now the immigrant processing has been moved offshore). So, the new "Delta" variant escaped hotel quarantine and the NSW government in their infinite wisdom decided that a snap lockdown to nip it in the bud, is only something the peasants in QLD and VIC has to do, we are gods gift of governments and therefore don't need no filthy snap lockdowns. The result? Ever escalating infection numbers and a government that makes a chicken coop appear like a well functioning organization by comparison. Glossary: NSW - New South Wales (where Sydney and The Opera House is) VIC - Victoria (where Melbourne and Australian Open is) QLD - Queensland (where Brisbane and The Great Barrier Reef is) ALP - The Australian Liberal Party (Gods gift to Fox News/Sky News... basically a bunch of morons doing what they are told by their masters) Labor is the main opposition party, but their lies have been way too unconvincing in the last few national elections, hence why the ALP is in power (their head liar/the PM has a background in marketing, his BS is very convincing for people who actually watch Sky News... which would be the same breed of people who actually believe anything coming out of Fox News)0 points

Right at the start of Clear Card, all of Sakura's old cards became inert. Or rather, completely free of magic. Shaoran on the other hand suddenly had a massive power upgrade, and in this episode now summoned a wind based binding attack that looked suspiciously like Windy. I'm just going to consider this non-canon from now on, because if Shaoran has Sakura's cards, then... honestly, I hope she blasts him back to Hong Kong. Toya keeps on refusing to tell Yukito what he's up to, even though it clearly disturbs him. Let me put this bluntly: F*ck this douchewaffling. You're all worse than Mamoru ever was, and I hate you. And f*ck you too, Clear Card, how can you be this bad? How? Why?0 points
