  2. ...wish it was a little bit bigger but I am pleased to once again have a black cat. Bonus: this one doesn't shed. ...apparently Amazon's track package doesn't track all that well when they aren't the ones actually delivering it - it still says it's on its way.

  3. OK, so here comes Version 1.3.1 patchnotes : Added Saphires and Rubies in Una's shop. Reverted Adran Ban back to its original 850 gold cost. Added Acid Keyword to following Wizard's spells : Minoletta's Minor Missile Concelhaut's Draining Siphon (Concelhaut's Draining Touch was added by the latest version of CP. It had a bug - no KW to the spell itself, only the attack - but I fixed it) Caedebald's Blackbow (the attack had the KW, but not the spell itself : I added it to align with Firebrand Design) Minoletta's Missile Salvo Corrected Fractured Volition Display bug @Sergeant Arch Dornanmight be interested in this for his russian translation. https://www.nexusmods.com/pillarsofeternity2/mods/438

  4. Thought it might be sensible to do a general purpose thread for Radeon as there is for Intel/ nVidiaRTX and Ryzen and speculation was occasionally spilling over Anyway, RDNA2X speculation ahead of the October 28th announcement. AMD has been very restrictive on the leaks, so at this point very little concrete is known. High confidence- explicit statements from AMD or other official or hard to fake sources Big Navi is >40CUs, ie more CUs than 5700XT, and there is more than one 'Big Navi' TSMC 7nm hybrid Raytracing; uses the same hardware for both raster and raytracing performance (from PSXBox information) Navi 21, 22, 23 chips at least 2.2+ Ghz clocks (PS5) (claimed) performance for a big navi card just below RTX3080 (per Ryzen 5000 launch). Phrasing was cagey as to whether it was the biggest navi variant or not; and obviously not independent benchmarking (claimed) 50% perf/watt improvement over RDNA1 Medium Confidence- from leakers with good track records and Apple OSX beta updates (which are solid, but OSX of course isn't windows and for example had RDNA1 cards with HBM that windows never got) 505-540mm^2 for largest die (by way of comparison, 5700XT 40CU was ~200mm^2) 256/192 bit buses 16/12/8 GB GDDR6 non X 128MB (most commonly cited) 'Infinity Cache' on die HBM is definitely supported (but 'confirmed' only for Apple SKUs) Up to 2.5Ghz clocks (Apple) 80CU Navi21, 72CU (and 52CU, if 60 CU 'Navi 22') non XT models Lower Confidence- more speculative, from consoles and inference from leakers with good track records, or information from otherwise good sources where there are significant contradictions DirectML for DLSS equivalent (albeit w/ no tensor cores; definite on xbox but speculative for AMD brands) HBM for consumers at top end 'Biggest Navi' (92-100CU) 280-300W for the 80 CU variant 40CU Navi22 and 32CU Navi23 listed in Apple OSX update; but other sources consistently have a 60CU Navi22, and a 40CU gap from Navi21 ->22 then just 8CUs to Navi23 seems unlikely, so the exact set up is unconfirmed. Speculation is that the raytracing performance will be better than Turing but worse than Ampere. Some sort of large on die cache is now very likely, this should help raytracing performance significantly and compensate for a relatively slow 256 bit bus. Speculated launch date is sometime in November. Availability may be interesting. For a 540 mm^2 GPU chip AMD could make around 7 Zen chiplets and there has clearly been a shortage of fab space at TSMC recently. While that should have eased with some companies shifting to 5nm and Huawei gone if there is supply pressure it's likely to be the GPU side that suffers first because they simply make a lot more money off CPUs for the wafer space.

This ... is ... awesome. https://www.reignofterrorgd.com (download links if you scroll down page) https://forums.crateentertainment.com/t/mod-reign-of-terror/35347 You do need Grim Dawn and its two main DLC's installed tho, since it's a mod. And it's still going to have Grim Dawn stuff/mechanics/classes as well as Diablo2 ones. But ... it is awesome. They even have the music, and "braiinnns" and "Rakisishu!" callouts etc.

  8. Dinner tonight was two pan fried fillets of real Hatchee River catfish. So fresh it was literally swimming 24 hours ago. I breaded them with hand ground cornmeal and served with steamed green beans and summer squash. Everyting on the plate with the exception of the oil used in the pan came from my garden or property. That is freaking cool IMO!

  9. there's definitely a snow-balling effect that you can trigger with extremely good initiative, but i could probably count on one or two hands those abilities (mostly charm/dominate effects). and while it can be useful for casters to get their abilities off sooner, the overall risk of interruption and such is lower in turn-based - the turn-based action economy also constrains how eagerly enemies can interrupt, and narrows the window they can do so. compare that subtle effect to the very real effect of dumping your stat points into stats and armor, both with more direct effects on combat outcomes, and aside from a narrow window of charm/dominate effects, i think it can easily be argued that dexterity/recovery loses its importance. keep in mind you can also initiate combat yourself in most cases using stealth. while not every ability or item can be used in stealth, this essentially means you already get a good first round regardless of dex/armor in a manner of speaking. heck, i believe some charm effects are usable outside of combat (at least debonaire is), so even from the "snow-balling effect" perspective dexterity might not be as important. edit - to be fair, i don't think there are very many turn-based "experts" out there. we could all be wrong and who knows maybe there is a killer high-dex approach to potd tb combat.

  10. OK you hit on an interesting point that I’d like to come back to in a bit. Little short for time right now. when it comes to civil liberties I am of the opinion that there are two positions. The first is that you are in favor of all of them all the time for all the people. The second is that you were opposed to all of them all the time for all the people. Many people think there is a middle ground where some civil liberties are OK and others are not. Some are absolute and others granted only at the pleasure of the body politic or “the people”. Those people are fools. And they are firmly in the latter camp and just don’t realize it. One statement politicians frequently make and others too, that I absolutely cannot stand is “You don’t need to own X”. Be at a gun, type of gun, type of car, whatever. Just by thinking that they have deemed themselves the superior of their fellow citizen and in a position to dictate to people they have never met what they can or can’t have or do or don’t need.

  12. You have a great future as a 2nd Lieutenant. Went back to Surviving Mars, had to reload the save as for some reason I forgot I have no untapped water sources near my main colony and then let my current source run dry, so 50% of the colony dies due to lack of water, that's a wrap. Massive pipe networks are bad as I need to have a chain of depots and drone commanders, bleh. Playing as Russia is nice, the drillers are inefficient and all but the colonists they free up makes up for that.

  13. The article DarkPriest linked to is about shops being "bulldozed" by burglers who the stores won't call the police on because they don't want to be accused of racism, allegedly, and so are allowing them to shoplift millions of dollars of merchandise. Cheong was quoted as saying that they were using high-end automobiles that they "owned", but since the shoplifters aren't being captured, how can he know they own the cars? "Cow" in this sense was used as a verb to mean "to frighten someone into doing something", in this case to frighten people into inaction for fear of accusations of racism (which, again, was the point of the article DarkPriest linked). Yeah, probably, but...couldn't resist. It is a failing in me.

  16. This is not a small request 1) Consider that the line between Bugfix and Houserule isn't that clear. Scaling for Passive abilities is consistently not applied, so it may not be seen as a bug. Is increased cost for Chanter upgraded Invocation a leftover glitch or a design ? Each Kills fed his Fury applying stat boost instead of Inspiration like its unuppragded version : glitch or design ? Eoathas 3rd Incarnate not working : this one is a bug, but replacing her by another 2nd Incaranate is basically a bug fixed by a houserule. All missing Keywords : Bugs or Design ? Perplexing Sap : Bug or Joke ? I know that there are examples that are more obvious bugfix, but I would rather let players decide : Consider that the modified abilities all have their own file, so picking you want is already relatively easy. 2) That leads me to the second point : Files are split between abilities, but there might be several changes for a single ability within a common file, and some might be bugfixes while other are Houserules. WotFS is indeed a good example. Changing the files is relatively easy, but what is more annoying is having to re-test all split abilities. Because there could be syntax error and stuff like that. This is very time consuming... and honnestly not very rewarding for me (my second child is arriving in a handful of months, so my ambitions about the polishing mod are now focused on essential/simple/rewarding stuff...). However, I think there's a handful of abilities in that case. The rest can be done by picking. 3)And there should be other mods that could do it anyway I won't be too angry if someone "got inspired" about my bugfix to make her/his own package (I would be more angry if the balancing stuff was copied...) On another topic : I did what I can to make Fury Weapon work with Driving Flight, I tried to code it as close as possible from Watershaper's Focus, but it didn't work. I'm afraid Fury Ranger won't have specific feat . Fury can provide an early source of bounce for an Arcane Archer, and Watershaper Focus isn't too bad for Fury either (use Arcane Archer Imbue before shifting then) so the build is still decent. Fury won't have provided something better than Watershaper Focus anyway, so the combo was more fun than unique.

  17. Back to Divinity OS2, now on easiest difficulty because of my tendency to set my own party on fire - since everyone else always and everywhere sets me on fire too, that's becoming a tad much. Have I tried not setting everything on fire? Nah, why would I do that? Fire good! Found this dude who travels with me angrily burying his murdered parents, passed persuasion check to make him less vengeful, I think? Anyway, he left and I promptly dug up his mum and dad. Oh, and my skeleton is in relationship with the gruff mercenary guy! Almost smooched in the pub, cannot wait for the further development of the affair, though I suspect this romance gonna be a bit bare-bones.

  23. Agreed, everyone thinks that are part of a protected class that will not be targeted by the tyranny of the majority or authoritarian minority until it happens (and, spoiler alert, they're all wrong): "First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me."

  25. And you trust the government to exercise that power responsibly and evenhandedly? You trusted at some future point they won’t decide that everyone who wants something they don’t think they should have is inherently irrational and mentally dysfunctional? Or believes something they “know” is wrong is not a symptom of some mental defect? Government is not made up of robots. It’s made up of people. People have passions prejudices and ambitions. And very few are able to subordinate them to some notion of the greater good. Far from it. Usually they construe the greater good as to matching their passions, prejudices and ambitions. Politicians most of all. The people who have political power are typically the exact ones you wish didn’t. The only way to protect yourself from them is by limiting what they can do. Taking an absolutist approach to that is certainly no vice in my opinion.

  27. both SSS and FS are late-game DLCs. You can do SSS earlier, but I know people here have complained in the past about the difficulty spike when playing sub-level-19 parties. If you're interested in just getting some gear, you can try it earlier and just bail on doing the final few fights. FS is definitely end-game DLC. You can try to do it earlier (level 18 or so), but I'm pretty sure it's just straight-up targeting level 20 parties. Even at level 20 with a pretty-OK party it can be rather brutal on PotD. There's a lot of good gear, but "bee-lining" towards them might not be feasible. In SSS, Least Unstable Coil and the special soulbound axe are good picks. There's also a great xbow/arbalest (forget which). In FS, all of the weyc's gear is pretty good, but it pretty much requires you to do the entire DLC to get them all.

  29. I've had it since when it barely had a complete Act1. It's a good arpg and I played it a fair bit off and on but I still haven't gotten around to playing either of the DLC's. I have the same problem with it as I do with path of exile - something about the item/gear (and gear-stat) system doesn't appeal in the long run. I think the newer arpg's don't have the simplicity I liked about the older ones is all. Or the same sense of random-ness. But very good games overall (edit - GD does edge out Path of Exile a bit, imo). The D2 mod must've taken forever to make. A great way to get some D2 nostalgia but with newer arpg conveniences and GD's genre improvements. I wish I'd had this stash in Diablo2.

  31. Pollaxes - despite the name - are no reach weapons in PoE. Since you mentined that you won't be in the first row to tank I assumed with pole weapons you mean reach weapons. Those are only quarterstaff and pike. So Lord Darryn's Voulge would be out. If you want to go with LDV nevertheless, in my opinion there's nothing better than Barbarian/Monk due to the awesome synergy of Static Thunder with Swift Flurry and Heartbeat Drumming (disregarding your dislike of Barbarians) - especially on lower difficulties but also on PotD (but to a lesser extent because less crits): Carnage applies Static Thunder in an AoE and Swift Flurry can trigger cascades of crits which again apply carnage with Static Thunder which immediately get released by the crit again. The big AoE bc of Turning Wheel helps to sometimes clear a whole room with a single attack if you're lucky. And if not it's still very good. You maybe want Berserker in order to get more crit conversion in melee which helps with Swift Flurry. Berserker/Helwalker is quite tricky though. Furyshaper/Helwalker is also great because the fear ward leads enemies to break engagement (use Barbaric Shout to get +3 engagement) and lowers enemies deflection, the Disengagement Attacks help with Swift Flurry etc., too. Stuff like Devoted/Helwalker also works well. Once you get Clear Out you can do the same as the Barbarian version - but not passively and less often per encounter. But still impressive. Here the Disciplined Strikes help a lot of course.

  32. Lucca Act I We speed through Act I as fast as we can, though we do all the quests in Gilded Vale, sans Raedric. We snuck in, talked with Nedemar, freed Giaccolo, and killed Osrya, though. Having Durance and a custom priest is slower than usual, but we make it through with only 1 knock out before Defiance Bay. The fights are much easier on Hard, but I'm still playing the big fights safe. We told Aufra the truth, told Wirtan to redeem himself, and sent Maerwald's soul free. On to Act II.

  33. Getting another run off the ground. Lucca, Moon Godlike Darcozzi Paladini: Introduction Game Version: 3.7.0.1318 - No DLC enabled Difficulty: Hard Settings: Maim Before Death: On; Injuries: On; Expert Mode: Off; Trial of Iron: On Mods: One-Eyed Molina's Gold-Fingered Spike-Flinger Fix Main Character Description: Lucca is a Darcozzi on the run. Fleeing the retribution of a rival Valian house, she fled with her employer to settle in parts unknown. Their escape was short lived, however. When the rivals found them it was already too late. Lucca escaped and drifted on ships until hearing word of opportunities to settle in the Dyrwood. We are planning to run with Aloth, Kana, Pallegina, Sagani, and a custom priest of Wael. I will be trying to get through as quickly and safely as possible, while setting up my Deadfire run. Here goes nothing!

  34. If I wanted to build a reach weapon user I would def. pick a Wizard/something because of Concelhaut's Parasitic Staff first and especially Citzal's Spirit Lance later. There are no really good early unique reach weapons. Unless you count Whispers of the Endless Paths which also has reach, but a bit reduced (normal melee: 0.8m iirc, WotEP: 1.2m, pike & quarterstaff: 1.8m). Wizard/Monk, Wizard/Paladin, Wizard/Fighter, Wizard/Barbarian and Wizard/Rogue all work fine. My personal favorite is maybe Wizard/Monk because of Stunning Surge and Instruments of Pain which gives your lance 11 meters of reach instead of "only" 1.8 meters.

  35. Imagined Pain is very good with Nomad's Briganine because all disengagement attacks turn into misses and give you wounds. On top of the misses that will occur anyway.

  36. Jan, the philosopher Brawler (Unbroken/Forbidden Fist) has died in Neketaka. I was playing on Veteran, Trial of Iron, with several balance/bug fix mods installed. The Community Patch, the Balance Polishing Patch, Enhanced UI, and Carnage Visual Radius. All DLC installed. Playing Real Time With Pause. Because I am now playing on a Windows machine, I'm not able to load my PoE1 save file from Jan. Instead, I made a custom history that fit the choices he made. Here's level 1 Jan. I moved 1 point from CON and 1 point from PER and increased his RES. Dying and coming back to life can change a person, no? We made short work of Port Maje, bringing on 2 hired adventurers, an Ancient Druid and a Ranger, to help, along with Eder (Swashbuckler) and Xoti (Priest). We skipped the big beast fight in the center of the digsite, stealthing past. Inside, I immediately notice how much easier these fights are on Veteran compared to Path of the Damned. This sense of easiness will be my undoing. We hit level 5 upon arriving to Neketaka, and I set out to get my part together. I'm planning to run Konstanten, Pallegina, Fassina, and Ydwin. We are able to pick up everyone but Fassina right away. For her, we set out to do the Archmage's Vault. We are able to complete it with no combat, and the gang is all together. From there we go to the Gullet and complete quests until we get the message from Dereo. I like to go into the Undercity to find Botaro and fight some Darguls and Rotghasts as a test of our abilities. Those fights go smoothly, and we are level 6 all around. Along the way we hit level 7, and when Ateira tries to stop us, I try some different dialogue options and we end up in combat. That fight is so easy, that I am now thinking we are a force to be reckoned with. In fact, I don't notice that I haven't set up Pallegina's new chant (Ancient Memory). We head back to Queen's Berth to complete the Bardatto quest, and Talfor stops us along the way. Silly pirates, I think. We are now an unstoppable killing machine. I try to punch Talfor - I've never done that option, and what fun to try new things. Talfor is 3 skulls, and the rest of his group is at least 2. We start the fight surrounded, and even with several charms landing from Ydwin, the party starts dropping quickly. I realize I don't have Ancient memory set up, and can't get heals out fast enough. In the end, Jan is left along, unable to hit them, and slowly whittled away. RIP

  41. Citzal's Spirit Lance is the best melee weapon in the game. And I mean it. Seriously! It scales perfectly well. Maybe the tooltip had a hickup. However, the biggest bonus point is that it transports nearly all on-hit/on-crit effects over to its AoE. That isn't too powerful for a single class wizard, but very, very good for multiclass wizards that get some special attack abilites: Rogue:Arterial Strike/Gouging Strike/Toxic Strike - raw DoT in an AoE with only one attack (besides the afflictions of course which also get applied to all enemies who got hit) Deep Wounds in an AoE Sneak Attack and Deathblows in an AoE AoE Riposte Fighter:Knockdown and Mule Kick in an AoE (hilarious) Cleave with AoE Clear Out: every hit of the AoE attack that Clear Out does will trigger another AoE attack of the lance = HUGE damage (and also everybody gets pushed and goes prone) Monk:Swift Flurry & Heartbeat Drumming: I don't think I have to say a lot - more chances to crit which might trigger another AoE attack wich is more likely to crit than a singel target attack and so on. Still produces chain reaction that one-shot low-defense mobs Stunning Blow & Surge: Stun in an AoE. WIth Stunning Surge you almost always regain your Mortification. In 1.22 you even get more Mortification than you spend (nearly always) - thus you can spam it endlessly Force of Anguish: I think you know what happens. It's like a grenade filled with human bodies as shrapnell. Skyward Kick: like Mule Kick basically Instruments of Pain: the lance becomes a ranged weapon with a range of 10.8 meters but unlicke Long Pain you can still use all melee abilites with it, including Swift Flurry & Heartbeat Drumming. Paladin:Flames of Devotion in an AoE. THat's is basically. Nothing too wild but still nice Druid:Taste of the Hunt: big raw DoT on everybody and usually full heal Cipher:Soulblade: Soul Annihilation applies its raw damage to every enemies it hits in a weird (but powerful) way Ascendant: Draining Whip + Spirit Lance means you always get maxed with one attack if you hit enough enemies Barbarian:Barbaric Blow in an AoE: the crit chance and damage translates, but Carnage does not proc off of the AoE hits (in general) Blood Frenzy/Spirit Frenzy apply their effects in an AoE (additional to Carnage) I'm sure I forgot something. I did a lot of testing around the Lance and can't remember all stuff because there are so many cool synergies. Unfortunately Ranger's Wounding Shot does not transport its DoT to the AoE rolls. Also the pike modal doesn't. Concussive Shot and Tranquilizer do work though. WotEP does translate afflictions and stuff to its cone, but it doesn't work with Clear Out and INstruments of Pain, its base damage is a lot lower and its AoE is smaller. It has some nice enchantments though Wahai Poraga only hits 3 additional foes around you - you have to be surrounded by foes and its base damage is lower. It also doesn't work with Instruments of Pain, but with Clear Out. Both cost huge amounts of money to bring to legendary status. This can be done earlier than Spirit Lance reaches legendary, but it makes you spend a lot of moey that you could put into stuff that gives you more advantages than upgrading your weapon from superb to legendary That's why I think that Citzal's Spirit Lance is the best melee weapon in the game. This also works with mortars, Minor Blights and rods with Blast of course, they are no melee weapons though and thus don't work with several melee abilities. I personally think that wizard/monk is the most crazy combo (because of Flurry+Drumming and Surge), but rogue and fighter are also supernice. Soulblade, too - you just won't use any cipher powers... Now I will get toasted because I most likely caused a nerf.
