My (adopted) nephew was chatting with me before the 5th edition game yesterday and he was talking about how the submariner school is challenging but he feels good about it. Then he says he'll feel proud when I pin his dolphins on him. You know, I don't come around here all the time, but it's kind of cool to come somewhere I'm anonymous to be able to say how happy this makes me feel. I don't want to post about it on any social media because, frankly, I'm going to convince him to let a "blood" family member do it. I think it will cause familial strife, but the idea that the kid, a naval academy graduate, thinks enough of a sorry old drunkard like me to ask is... words fail. ...And he's only one of three strapping Lads. One passed the Bar earlier this year. The third is doing well studying to be a paralegal. The three of them range from Bernie Bro to "Bernie is too far to the right!" You can imagine political discussions are lively and often heated, but I love the Lads. Great men, one and all. As I get older, eternal things like Country and Church start to matter to me less. God, not the church, is my guide. The world can, and eventually will, survive without my country. As painful as it is to admit, we're not indispensable. Friendship is. EDIT: I was a bit worried about how one statement would be understood, so I changed it to one just as true.4 points

Sunny and I walked down to the Hatchee yesterday afternoon for a little fishing. Right around sunset I caught a nice sized catfish. Guess what is for dinner tonight!2 points

Sasha's SInging Scimitar - it's great, no doubt. Not if your goal is to be a debuffer though. By the way: if I'm not mistaken then disengagement attacks can also lead to phrase gain. So using Spirit Tornado with Terrify and having a few engagement slots might be good. Skald can also be pretty great with Whispers otEP - because every Offensive Parry has a chance to gain you phrases if it crits. But Barb/Skald is not the right combo for that unless you use Nomad's Brigandine and force disengagment attacks (that will all be converted to misses and trigger Offensive Parries).2 points

With Carnage Stagger + Long Night's Drink you debuff several enemies' fortitude by -24 right away in an AoE "on the fly" iirc. Singular enemies get get brought down to nearly -50 with Body Blows then. Add Ben Fidel's Neck and you can temporarily lower fortitude by ~60. Because Ben Fidel's Neck stacks with everything. Pretty dope.2 points

I played SSS with him. Him having special conversation options was the main reason to bring him in the first place. Willbreaker is great in nearly all fights because it not only lowers Will on hit (-3 Will effect per hit stacks with itself) but also -25 fortitude with the Body Blows modal at the same time. Lowering fortitude is especially helpful in SSS because there are several enemies with very high fort which otherwise make some of the most useful spells less effective (see Chillfog and so on).2 points

Yeah, I watched a bit of Cohh stream and I think I am good with patiently waiting for 1.0. It looks great, but it’s rough. I feel no need to spoil anything further. And unlike PoE I am not that invested in this IP to be a beta tester.2 points

Since I don't use potions and scrolls much that's not an option for me. I took Konstanten only once I believe (at least that the one I remember). I made him a Barb/Skald and was very pleased with his effordless will- and fortitude-debuffing capabilities through The Willbreaker + Spirit Frenzy/Tornado + Ben Fidel's Neck invocation and The Long Night's Drink phrase. Besides the great debuffing for party members: with Brute Force it was very easy to do melee crit after crit then, too. Did damage and regained phrases rather quickly. I think people underestimate how effective the lower phrase cost for offensive invocations + phrase gain on melee crit can be. Like "Her Revenge", "Killers Froze Stiff" or "The Shield Cracks" only cost 2 phrases which is really cheap, especially if you occasionally gain a phrase by whacking enemies an lowering theit will and fort at the same time. Oh, and when he crits he does a funny laughter (his voice is pretty incredible to begin with) which made me grin a lot.2 points

60gb for early access version why are games so ridiculously massive these days2 points

I've played the game very recently and there are no major bugs. Personally I didn't have any bugs at all, though It's possible I just missed noticing them.2 points

OK, coded and tested. I will include it in next version (probably 1.31 once I've clarified the Driving Flight issue). I thought about crafting and I think you are right. Limited ressources for crafting sounded wrong. Excessive price too so and reverted Adra Ban to its normal value. Yup, it's a bit of powercreeping but I think it's better for enjoyment. Mepp22 suggested pale elf, for the added fire and cold AR. The reason for this is because you'd be using Keeper of the Flame with WotW late game, causing fire AOE explosions on each hit. These can hit you as well, and if you're hit they'll also stun you since you'd also be wearing the Stalking Cloak. However, if you use Eder's armor with Veteran's Manuever upgrade, you are immune to the first two reflex attacks that target you. With high enough reflex you can pass through the mayhem unscathed, while flailing, roasting and stunning your foes. For this build, Boots of the Stone are for the times in which you get hit with reflex attacks twice before completing WotW, and pale elf was suggested for added fire AR in these cases as well. Needless to say, the alternate races you suggest would be fine and have their strengths as well. I also really like Mountain dwarf, for the resistance to CON afflictions. This is harder to get from items, and the CON afflictions can be nasty.1 point

Good post and your option 3, F:NV, for any true " sandbox, open-world " RPG is the only reasonable answer around game design and mechanics You take huge risk going into certain areas that have much harder enemies but they can be defeated albeit requiring a certain strategy and or items and your level cant be 8 or more below their level But there are real rewards like rare items and general loot which in all the Fallout games I have played from FO3 onwards has real benefits in the game economy1 point

Well, as they sing, even old jokes deserve songs: That thumbnail hat me immediately with the Sailor Soldiers but really, who exactly do they make these videos for? I wonder if any of the dancers knew why they were wearing skimpy sailor costumes of if they assumed they were just there for the eye candy candy in a song about an old and infantile joke. Sailor Moon is probably older than the girls in the video (on that note, can't believe that was almost thirty years ago, time really does fly). The amount of overlap between metal fans who appreciate Nanowar's parodies and people who have seen the anime or read the manga can't be that large, can it? Also, nitpick in the spoiler:1 point

I must say with every update I dig it more and more. But I also regularly loose interest. I am yet to complete a playthrough. There is always an update right behind a corner for which I decide to wait for, and then I start another campaign, wait a bit, and then they announce new update... and so the cycle continues.1 point

Vanilla monk is great too. I don't like Shattered Pillar since this class was nerfed; the 5 wound cap is pretty severe, and it makes turning wheel and iron wheel worthless. Nalpazca is great if you don't mind hoarding and using drugs; they get great benefit from them, and have the fastest wound generation when high. But they take much more micromanagement, and their big weakness is the wizard spell arcane dampener, which sends you into an instant drug crash, which is very dangerous since you can't heal at all while in this state. Personally, I prefer FF for their amazing level one ability, which coupled with high res makes you a tank who can dish out serious DPS as well. Helwalker is ideal, IMO, for dual mortar ranged builds as well as multiclassing with casters.1 point

American politics is usually right wing against more right wing. The "extremist" AOCs and Bernie Sanders of American politics would be moderate left wingers in most of the developed world.1 point

This Reddit post shows a DM from Obsidian (Mikey Dowling) explaining Third Person wouldn't be in The Outer Worlds, but its something they know is in demand and will look into for future games (Grounded was given as an example). This was posted well before Avowed was revealed, and given that game will have Microsoft's full backing, I'd say the chances are pretty likely Avowed will have a third person mode.1 point
