  1. Greetings employees of Halcyon, We want to take this opportunity to thank the incredible team behind The Outer Worlds. It is because of their hard work and dedication to this project that we received the Best Narrative, Best Performance - Ashly Burch, Best RPG, and Game of the Year nominations at The Game Awards. To all of those who voted for us in The Game Awards, you are all fantastic and we are so grateful for your support. The reception to The Outer Worlds has been unbelievable to see, and even just being nominated means a lot. However, the journey isn't over yet as we are excited to announce that we will be expanding the story through DLC next year! Details will be made available at a later date. Now we would like to allow our game directors, Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky, to share a message with you all: We just wanted to personally thank our team for doing a wonderful job and our fans for their tremendous support. And Tim would like to say what an honor it was to work with me. – Leonard Whatever, Leonard. Now that we’ve finished, I expect that certain photographs will be destroyed, as per our agreement. – Tim

  3. XBOX Series X? Really? Nintendo: "With the Wii U, we created the most unintuitive, convoluted, and confusing naming scheme ever." Microsoft: "Hold my beer." Edit: I realize I'm late to the party here and everybody has probably already meme'd on this. My bad.

  5. Even though BG1/2 are some of my favourite games. I would much prefer a POE3 than a BG3(which we're actually getting some some reason!).

  6. I saw the comparison made in several reviews before I bought the game so I can see where Biff got it from. After playing through it multiple times I agree that the comparisons are tenuous, I think the dialogue and skill system are handled better then Mass Effect series. I would of liked a companion control system similar to ME implemented in TOW however.

  7. Other than being vaguely sci fi, it's nothing like Mass Effect. Strange comparison.

  8. Depends. If you plan to take Heart of the Storm (maybe you'd also want to use Animancer's Boots) then a shocking lash. If not you can take what you want to be more flexible. Although shock is one of the least resisted/immune dmg types iirc. I personally would take shock and simply switch to another stiletto as soon as I'd meet a resistant enemy - instead of trying to cover more different dmg types.

  10. It's a sad state of affairs that this is something we get excited about in the year of our Lord 2019. This should have been standard on ALL PC games for the last 20 years. Mice with more than 2 buttons aren't exactly brand new.

  12. Boy the siege and battle scene was terrible. Everyone just flailing away at each other with no plan. At one point they run up to the castle gates with the apparent plan of standing in a big blob staring at while being attacked from above.

  13. The Surge 2 will be coming to GOG if you prefer DRM free Anyway, more Pillars goodness, I have left the Raedric’s Hold, in the Kolsc hands, and then slowly moved to Defiance Bay, I have tried to visit Sturgeon Gorge, or what was the name, for a while, but my party got destroyed on level 5 So I have reloaded back to Caed Nua and moved to the Copperlane to start few tasks and quets. So Act 1 is at the end, and I will be slowly going through all Defiance Bay Districts. A lot of talking and low portion of fighting awaits

  14. one big mistake with the article linked. scanning entire sky current takes four hours. it then takes months (and sometimes years) to actual analyze all that data. again, you gotta be looking right at an object to see it. am suspecting practical "stealth" will actual be opposite o' what folks expect. combat is gonna be happening at such vast distances, stealth, for all intents and purposes, will be making self look so big that practical targeting becomes near impossible. polar bear in a blizzard. we will say, every movie and tv space combat we has ever seen described looks wrong on so many levels. again, combat will be taking place at incredible distances, so no view screens or close ship-to-ship battles with broadsides o' torpedoes and lasers and railguns. HA! Good Fun!

  15. Check out There Ain't No Stealth In Space, it's pretty good at explaining everything. There's also lots of stuff about combat in space in general - it just doesn't work like in Star Trek, Star Wars, or most other sci-fi shows.

  16. Nicely co-inciding with the Origin sale that's just started, you can redeem a month's free Origin Access Basic from SteelSeries here. Don't need to own any of their products or anything. In doing so you can get an extra 10% off that stacks with the current sale. Conveniently it's just a one-time 30-day credit, so you're not forced into a recurring subscription that needs to be cancelled. (I used it go buy Sims 4 University, I'm weak I know. 55% discount for an expansion out less than a month ago is pretty decent mind you, even if I'm only buying it for the much-awaited Roommate feature)

  17. radar (radio) works in space, but in a vacuum you need be aiming the radar signal direct at the object you is intending to illuminate. radar waves. is an electromagnetic wave issue. think o' it like trying to use a laser pointer to find an object in a dark room... relative small object in an extreme large room. HA! Good Fun!

  20. The only suggestions I could offer would have to do with the things I either didn't like, or thought were falling short of what POE 1 did. So... all of it just personal feelings, with some musings that maybe others felt the same upon hearing of such things. - As some suggested, the pirate theme may have been seen as an odd next step after the last game. The plot itself just felt pointless by the end of it too, which is something others had talked about. Maybe that was deliberate, but such a move is basically too artsy for its own good if it was. - Performance issues cropped up that remained unresolved for a while. - Smaller party size certainly stumped me at first. I went ahead and bought the game anyhow, because I love Obsidian, but that was not a favorable thing on the bullet point list for me prior to release. - Besides the plot, overall Deadfire came across as more of a mechanical evolution than a logical next step in scale or adventure. To cite the evolution of Icewind Dale to Icewind 2; you went from squad encounters to all out warfare. The encounters were bigger in the sequel, the scale of the journey covered more ground, the specific things you were expected to do were larger... the same can be said for BG 1 to 2. With POE 2, the evolution of scale sort of felt like it went sideways rather than up. We covered more geography, but the scale overall didn't feel much bigger than POE 1. Again, for me this didn't matter anyhow, because when I hear "Obsidian" and "fantasy RPG", I'm in... but most aren't like that I reckon. I still hope that we'll see a POE 3 someday, because at the end of the day, I enjoyed it. It was just in a bit of a strange place over all.

  21. I think PoE suffered from... not being Forgotten Realms! This is why so many games/movies/tv shows/whatever are remakes and remasters and sequels and whatever... brand recognition. People (in general) like the familiar, why do you think McDonalds is so popular?! It's garbage food but you know exactly what you're going to get.

  24. You're entitled to your opinion, but I *strongly* disagree. 1) Obsidian isn't known for mediocre games. They are a very successful RPG studio that has made some of the best games out there, and are widely acknowledged as such. 2) There's a *LOT* of companion interaction. No, there's no "romance", but so what? There's a cubic ****ton of interaction and comradeship. 3) You cannot do all the same stuff between those two games. You can't throw grenades in TOW, but you can't shrink people in Fallout 4. You can't enslave people in TOW, but you don't have any "dig through rat ****" quests in Fallout 4, either. Etc. etc.

  25. That's just like ... your opinion man. But I'm sure everyone here is greatful for your critique. However, my opinion is that it's the best Fallout like game since Fallout New Vegas. My opinion is that the writing is brillant. My opinion is that Obsidian is not known for mediocrity but for some of my favourite games ever.

  26. Had you finished the first game, you would know that you had to make a promise to a god to reach the boss. And "and thus for example Woedica seems to be a goddess of justice but she doesn't act like it at all, not in the least (bad writing is what it is)." Is not bad writing- all the gods are massive hypocrites and are portrayed that way. It's even stated outright in the first game that despite being the goddess of justice, Woedica is the goddess who is most willing to break her own rules (just as Rymrgand wants to annihilate all souls- except the souls of his followers that sustain him- those he preserved forever, thus denying them the Nirvana they seek).

  27. True story: I was confirmed by a child molester bishop. Said child molester bishop was never tried or convicted for anything and is now living safely ensconced by the Church in some monastery. And very likely still diddling lil boys everyday.
