  1. Try MS-DOS 6.22, the DriveSpace compression should help tidy things up.

  2. Edit: Sorry folks, takes a couple of clicks on the image to zoom it out. And I'm fuzzy enough I can't be arsed figuring it out right at this moment...

  3. Dragon Knight Saga was pretty fun. Don't remember the inventory being that much of a pain though. Of course, it's been a while since that was released, wonder if they're every going to finish up that story someday. But I guess they're too busy messing with cult classics to care anymore.

  4. I'm sure it is. I mean, nobody who truly is supremely confident goes around making noise about it. Except maybe Zlatan.

  5. The slightly sad thing about the 2H Battle Axe variants in the game, is that they didn't also give the weapons another +1 PEN like they did to 2H weapons across the board a while ago. Might be nice to mod that in.

  6. Then you should maybe give him a chance. The overconfidence is a bit of a facade.

  8. Would help to narrow it down a bit. Like what are your preferred classes or roles (supporter, dmg dealer, healer, tank etc.) or melee or ranged or caster and so on. Just out of the blue with no requirements one could name hundreds of basic builds that are good.

  9. That is because internally - after the initial hit which dumps all the focus into raw dmg and sets it to 0 every following of the AoE hit rolls generates focus back (which then gets transformed into raw dmg for the next roll). At the end of the execution the focus is capped down to 0 again. Same mechanics as with Gambit (if used with AoE weapons): the dmg bonus Gambit gets from accumulated Guile will climb into astronomical heights "internally" if you land a lot of crits - I could get to +250% and more (look at dmg numbers in combat log). But at the end the reclaimed Guile will be capped back to 4.

  10. Tekēhu is good if you get past the initial phase. You should do the Gullet with him - it gives him more depth and shows him being more serious, benevolent and caring. He is a good boy. And as I said his subclasses are good, especially the druid one is one of the best. I my opinion the best of all companions' subclasses. If you generally loathe flamboyance or are even anti LGBT then I guess you will never like him though. Serafen's Wild Mind subclass is very unpredictable and that is something that most RPG players don't like. Most of his negative sideffects when casting powers are not too bad and are easily balanced out (and more) by the potential good side effects. But "Miscast" can actually wipe your whole group. It deals 3x actual focus as shock damage in a pretty big AoE around Serafen. At level 20 this can mean over 750 shock damage per attack roll. Of course this rarely happens. But when it happens to players they usually are so annoyed that they declare the subclass as "useless" (forgetting all the times Serafen got a +5 PL boost while casting ;)). But... actually you can use Miscast to your advantage (although it's fiddly). If you just give Serafen a lot of Will defense (Miscast targets Will) and AR (especially shock AR - a druid might help - Mantle of the Seven Bolts also helps) and place him near enemies and not near your party members he can sometimes wipe the whole enemy mob with a miscast and survive. So for example you could try to tank with him as a Witch (Barb/Wild Mind) and use the barb yell for +engagement and dazing while casting powers in the hope of a Miscast. With Deltro's Cage + Helmet you can benefit from the Miscast in two ways: either turn on Shock Shield in order to get healed by the shock damage instead of getting toasted - or getting toasted and receiving a huge shocking lash for your next attack rolls from the Helmet. Or it simply misses because of your high WIll defense. Note that a Witch can get +15 Will from the cipher passive "Iron Will" AND +10 from "Bull's Will" (generic from barb). They do stack. Add some items with Will or +all defenses. Maybe eat fitting food. Raise RES and INT... Even if he goes down from that Miscast - several enemies will do so as well. Give him an item with Second Chance or revive him: easy. Just accept that he might die from time to time while killing everything around him. It's not a bad thing then. Several items can add more AoE dmg when he goes down (Skaen Robe, Mantle of the Seven Bolts, Effort Great Sword etc.). You can play with this. It can be fun. So... "useless" is - as always in these forums- a lot of hyperbole.

  11. So you are unwilling to spend money to buy a game you want to play on Epic and you are unwilling to wait to spend your money on the game you want to play on steam, but you are happy to buy multiple copies of a game you don’t want to play? Now on to your illustration. Before Epic deal was announced OW was never ever on sale. It’s more, that you hoped to go to your favourite cinema for a movie, but months before release it was announced it won’t be coming to it for quite a while. As to the rest. Epic doesn’t make your gaming experience worse on Windows. It’s bare bone and clunky, but games run alright. You might disapprove of this cinemas business practises, their world wide chain isn’t well adjusted to different regions, it doesn’t have many expected facilities and doesn’t offer popcorn... but the watching experience is same as everywhere else). You can also just pick up XBOX game pass, and play through the game. i find it hilarious that you find buying from G2A a more moral path then buying from Epic. Only one of them does actual, proven damage to gaming industry.

  12. I used boots on my first playtrough and i think it only interfered with actual body flanking - distraction effects and phantom foes worked just fine. If you want to min max back stab damage then arquebus(probably the one with huge fire lash) is the way to go, if you want to go for flavor character and have less optimal build then i would use modwyr + flanking spear in one weapon set and in second weapon set pistol that gives stacking melee damage bonus to open the fights from behind the tank coupled with sacrifice dagger to restore 2 rogue resources on near dead enemy also helps to finnish big bosses faster or you can use Rusts dagger instead of pistol for one more shadowing beyond. Sadly assassinate and backstab will only be applied to one hit and not full attack when using spear and sword. Edit : also another idea would be to play Black jacket/assassin and use all kind of firearms to quickswich-invis-backstab

  13. And don't forger the awesome Street Sweeper, aka Unbender's Bane. This weapon is awesome against any self buffing target. I feel it should be mandatory in any Black Jacket build (and Staff modal has it's uses).

  14. Oh, I forgot: another good weapon for SA (but not for Backstabs and Assassinate) is Sun & Moon. Since it has two flail heads the first one will hit and apply the raw dmg of SA, but the second flail head will hit right after and already regenerate focus for you. With some levels behind the belt (esp. Draining Whip - so that one flail head at least generates 10+ focus) you can spam SA without pause. Make sure targes have afflictions though because SA's raw damage profits from Sneak Attack and Deathblows as well. As I said Sun & Moon ist not the ideal backstabbing weapon though: since its two flail heads have reduced base damage (to balance out the two attack rolls) the bonus you get from Backstab and Assassinate is quite whimpy. The second flail head will already lack the bonus because stealth/insisibility will break right after the first flail head hitting.

  15. You mean solo? No. In a party: of course. Best weapon for Backstabs and Assassinate are the ones with high base dmg: Arquebus, Great Sword and so on. Also weapons with a lash. Best single target melee weapon in my opinion: Chromoprismatic Staff (with the Blights enchantment that adds lashes). The best melee weapon for SA against multiple targets is by far Whispers of the Endless Paths since it applies SA's raw damage to all targets it hits (high INT for a big AoE size is crucial though). Run Through (enchantment) is devastating with Backstab+Assassinate as an opener because it has very high base damage. Note that Backstab and Assassinate will increase the raw dmg of SA. So it might be better in some cases (against single targets) to do SA from stealth or invisibility (if you have enough focus).

  16. That does it. I started this game with a Beastmaster when I didn't know what I was doing. It's time to go for it again. Insects/Maggots and Sunlance along with TC will be one new trick in my bag.

  17. So this may be a change in recent patches (5.0 or so), but I just did some testing (because I was curious if the weird DoT for Cleansing Flame functioned differently), and while Takedown Combo isn't consumed by DoTs, it does affect DoTs while active. I tested both the normal kind of DoTs and also the weird Cleansing Flame/Disintegrate/Wounding Shot style DoT. It absolutely does affect DoTs. Effects like Chill Fog or beam spells are the definite loser here, because they'll consume the Takedown Combo and only affect one tick. But seriously: wow. I've literally never before seen a tick for like 120 damage before, but I was absolutely ticking for that much with Cleansing Flame. As soon as Takedown Combo would wear off, the dot damage would drop down dramatically. Gonna really enjoy an itinerant now. The real winners are high-impact short duration DoTs like Cleaning Flame or (to a lesser extent) Disintegrate, and Concelhaut's Corrosive Skin - because unlike other DoTs this one ticks every second, which gives you a lot of ticks at essentially double damage (whereas otherwise if combo wears off before the next tick, you don't get pro-rated the extra damage on the tick that happens after combo wears off). edit - the weird interaction here with takedown combo is if you do affect them with a DoT (or multiple DoTs) you definitely don't want to touch that enemy until takedown combo wears off, because then the combo +100% effect will wear off too quickly to get much benefit out of it. And ironically depending on how the spell is structured, spells that do initial damage followed by a DoT may underperform, because the initial hit will eat up the takedown combo and then the remaining DoT won't benefit (so spells that do most of their damage up front will be OK but spells that do most of their damage as follow up will suffer)

  18. Bring Edér, Serafen and Tekēhu (with Xoti if you like her - she is easy to romance). Those are the companions who talk the most. And most of it is funny and/or entertaining. Also those are the companions you can get very early. Besides Aloth who becomes accessible right after Edér. Tekēhu's Druid subclass is very good actually and can substitute a Wizard and can be a good healer at the same time.

  19. I've been enjoying Classic Wow with some old friends. The slow leveling really gives you a chance to enjoy the world building Blizzard did in each zone. I've also gotten deep into the first Avernum game. My party has gotten pretty powerful and I've been enjoying the storyline. I think I owned this game for about 8 years without ever getting into it, and now I'm hooked.

  23. one word: windmills of course trump won't let it go. his base, inexplicable and beyond reason, don't care 'bout trump lies, but they love seeing him fight, 'cause y'know, trump is a fighter and... am not sure where to go with this 'cause am complete perplexed by his base and the entertainment value they enjoy seeing trump vigorous defend the indefensible. we never watched his tv show, so am s'posing we is self-inoculated 'gainst his antics. dunno. also, the fight allows trump to bang the "enemy of the people" drum. the real villains is the press. see how they mischaracterize the President's tweets? see how the press fakes news? is complete and utter malarkey, but his base doesn't care 'bout facts and as we has seen, any kinda maths is gonna utter discombobulate a large % o' 'em. and then there is the more moderate conservatives who is mild emberassed by trump and who private have concerns 'bout the mendacity and the corruption and the illegal, but at the end o' the day, is either trump or a democrat alternative, and the republicans is willing to overlook trump if it means mitch is able to continue packing courts for a few more years. the quiet enablers who will come out o' the woodwork after trump is no longer in office and admit they didn't approve o' trump, but they had a duty to defend the US from socialism and big government and... whatever. after +2 years o' o' insanity such as cancer causing windmills, only educated women voters has been leaving the trump base in noteworthy numbers, but such folks were never a huge % o' the base. trump cannot let go. is part o' the character he has concocted that he is a fighter who will always respond to attacks both real and perceived. doesn't matter if the fight is hornswoggle. Americans voted this guy into office. in spite o' daily displays o' incompetence and a record o' near total failure after +2 years in office, is possible he may get a second term. reality in 2019. windmills. HA! Good Fun!

  24. Most of my IRL friends from adolescence are RPG virgins so I've been slowly introducing them to my favorites - we're getting too old to play twitchy clown fiesta games so they've finally developed an interest. Lately I've been streaming VTM: Bloodlines on Twitch to show them a worms and all experience: that a game can still be meaningful and fun while overtly threadbare. I'm running a stealth and melee Malkavian and am nearing the game's final chapter... fearing the Griffith Park encounter. It's been a fun ride showcasing a game I've played through an embarrassing amount of times, and I've often gone into detail on some of its more esoteric lore hooks, along with its production history and cult status.

  25. You know, this is sad but it had to be done... outer worlds is a game i like of a genre that i enjoy (except for first person only). As i said in the other thread i had fuel up to 64.52 USD in steam on December waiting for this game being able to purchase at day zero. Sadly the idiots who managed distribution decided to go for a stupid epic store exclusivity. Take in count that means i lost december's sale on steam and many "an item from your wishlist" ones (which included KENSHI, a game like fallout) notifications. I recently bought another game: Darq, a game i don't like from a genre i utterly hate and i am planning into not buying this at all, this is even more depressing that what i had to do with chucklefish after they ruinned starbound. Currently i have a rig that can play outer worlds and even has windows 10 but i am STILL NOT PREORDERING THIS because i felt betrayed. Right now, i am not even opening steam, i don't want to look at what i had done but still i wanted to point that my main reason to buy darq, a game i just invested 20 or 21 minutes (not even beating the first level) and that i won't touch again was because it showed something that obsidian did not: respect. Obviously i will still play outer worlds, but not buying it at all, probably i will just buy it on G2A for a microsoft key if I ever do. Now if you excuse me, i will walk the lonesome road IRL again.

  26. “There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."
