Just Cause 2 shares a lot of similarities with Saints Row 3, which I am playing now. They both allow the player to engage in absolutely ridiculous, over the top, out of control, crazed mayhem, albeit in different ways. Coincidentally, both games are tons of fun. Fighter Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 (edited) Just finished Bioshock: Infinite 5 minutes. That... and there was a lot of it... I didn't see coming. Idon't know if there are plot holes,for now I don't care since it manages to pull all the strings anyway. Just wish the ending was happier. Or maybe it's more ambiguous than I think. Don't know at this point. So glad I didn't have it spoiled. And to think I was in a forum thread where people got spoiled and my eyes just barely skipped past it. Edited April 1, 2013 by Fighter

I interpreted the ending after the credits as what Booker was hallucinating when he died, it's a dream he keeps going back to, and it represents his acceptance and accomplishment, Anna is now free.It could have been one of the universes where he doesn't give away Anna, but I don't see the point in that. the whole thing is just full of plot holes but then nearly everything that includes a multiverse or time travel is.

I suppose you prevent all the bloodshed from ever happening and a version of Booker and Anna get a chance at a better life. But the people you know as Booker and Elizabeth, the relationship they build, their whole journey and the things they've seen and done will have been erased from existence.
Starwars Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Been playing some X-Com Enemy Unkown again. Overall I think this is an extremely fun game that is marred a bit by some unfortunate design decisions. I think what's hurting my replay the most is that it has tendency to get repetitive. I find myself groaning each time there is a UFO mission because... Well, they just tend to be unintersting. It's a perfect example of something that *should* in my opinion feel really special but in this game, they happen so often that they just tend to get boring. And just a pain to navigate at times. Also, the council missions where you escort dudes also get... kinda meh with the setup of Thin Men falling out of thin air. Especially later in the game where it just feels weird to fight Thin Men who are... basically early game enemies. On the other hand, the regular abduction site missions can be quite a lot of fun at times. And I find myself cheering each time I get a terror mission. These *should* feel special I think, but I think they could've bumped up the frequency of them happening just a bit more. Gfted1 Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 XCOM:EU . Bought the slingshot dlc very cheap and now i wonder how much difference in the long run it will make. Having a Lt. Heavy so soon proved to be a good thing so far. Theres a DLC for XCOM? I must investigate this when I get home. I assume I should play out regular vanilla first? I had to start a new game. I somehow got myself in an untenable situation where a terror mission happened but I didn't have enough unwounded soldiers to even field a five man party. Trying to buy new soldiers or let my wounded soldiers heal caused Japan to say sayonara so after that I just quit and started new. I very much like the reactivity of the game. This time I built my base a little more efficiently and built a satellite room before a laboratory and I can feel a tangible difference in how fast I research stuff. Amentep Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 (edited) I got Tomb Raider, X-Com and Bioshock Infinite. Tomb Raider is quite grabby in its immediate pull; played it a good bit yesterday because the story has natural hooks. Love X-COM but can already see I'm going to be in financial trouble fast (always my problem with strategy games - I suck at managing resources) and Bioshock Infinite looks really good (haven't gotten enough into the shooty part to know how that's going to do with me yet). Nepenthe Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 As my gaming time diminishes, I find hours of play becomes a less important metric. 15 hours of all awesome is better than 30 hours that is 15 hours of awesome and 15 hours of okay, IMO. Oblivion helped teach me this (which was 0 hours of awesome and like 30 hours of "Meh what am I doing I am wasting my time...") Same here. In fact very long games start being a challenge, just can't get the time without starting to forget parts. I never really tried Bioshock 1 & 2 either, but yes, after walking through this complete non-gamer through it, I'll see whether I want to try this one at bargain-bin prices. I assume there's some way to play from the start with 1999 mode? Just wary of all these games these days which look cool and have cool things, but in the end you're just thoughtlessly massacring things with your overpowered gimmicks on dumb-as-stones AI (e.g. Dishonoured). I dunno, I didn't even get that overpowered feeling in Bioshock 1 (the only one I've played). I remember it as being a game that had a really good and atmospheric beginning, and then came apart really fast. Boring, even. EDIT: To clarify, the game takes cues from MMOs and action-RPGs in quest design, loot distribution and the now-omnipresent quest markers, but in terms of combat it borrows heavily from the action adventure genre, especially from God of War and Japanese titles such as Devil May Cry (albeit with far less depth). On-topic, schedules finally worked out such that I was able to join a couple friends for co-op Borderlands last Friday. (As I mentioned awhile back in the Borderlands-specific thread, a friend had bought a 4-pack of the game on Steam and gave me one of them, as he was looking for co-op games that his wife might enjoy.) I'm not generally much of a shooter fan, but I'm enjoying it more than I expected to. I make up for my poor FPS skills by playing as Brick and getting very close to the things I'm trying to hit. 2

It works like a charm, and it helps more and more the older you are I spend my days trying to read my notes from court etc. and trying to remember stuff. Feels like work, prefer my gaming to be all-consuming sprints. That said, I deleted all my DAO and dragon age 2 saves in a fit of stoopids about a year ago. My next gaming project is running two characters through DAO and the suitable Hawkes for both of those. Which actually puts me on topic!
