Glad to see one of my favourite models from the tabletop (and the pride of my Wood Elf army) getting represented in the game:

“Political philosophers have often pointed out that in wartime, the citizen, the male citizen at least, loses one of his most basic rights, his right to life; and this has been true ever since the French Revolution and the invention of conscription, now an almost universally accepted principle. But these same philosophers have rarely noted that the citizen in question simultaneously loses another right, one just as basic and perhaps even more vital for his conception of himself as a civilized human being: the right not to kill.”

"The chancellor, the late chancellor, was only partly correct. He was obsolete. But so is the State, the entity he worshipped. Any state, entity, or ideology becomes obsolete when it stockpiles the wrong weapons: when it captures territories, but not minds; when it enslaves millions, but convinces nobody. When it is naked, yet puts on armor and calls it faith, while in the Eyes of God it has no faith at all. Any state, any entity, any ideology that fails to recognize the worth, the dignity, the rights of Man...that state is obsolete."

Ok, I get that there might be other modern world games, there are other open world games. GTA is the current king of the open world genre. I preferred Saint's Row myself, but the GTA games are the benchmark. Just like Skyrim seems to be the fantasy open world benchmark (or is it Witcher 3 now?) So yeah, Cyberpunk will get the comparison unless it becomes the new benchmark.

well i think what drives Cyberpunk for me (not mentioning Witcher quality) is the setting I am drawn to. I know it might be clique for some but I loved Johnny Mnemonic, Matrix and the likes so this fits in perfectly (they even have that laser string thingy!!) Also I liked Deus Ex and this is very close to it as well

I'm the enemy, 'cause I like to think, I like to read. I'm into freedom of speech, and freedom of choice. I'm the kinda guy that likes to sit in a greasy spoon and wonder, "Gee, should I have the T-bone steak or the jumbo rack of barbecue ribs with the side-order of gravy fries?" I want high cholesterol! I wanna eat bacon, and butter, and buckets of cheese, okay?! I wanna smoke a Cuban cigar the size of Cincinnati in the non-smoking section! I wanna run naked through the street, with green Jell-O all over my body, reading Playboy magazine. Why? Because I suddenly may feel the need to, okay, pal? I've SEEN the future. Do you know what it is? It's a 47-year-old virgin sitting around in his beige pajamas, drinking a banana-broccoli shake, singing "I'm an Oscar Meyer Wiene"

I agree, as someone who has spent hundreds of hours on RDR2 single player and  the online version Rockstar Games has currently the best modern open world gaming  universe IMO

The debate around fantasy open world is more subjective and nuanced. The Witcher 3 does indeed offer an excellent example of how CDPR created a compelling and brilliant  open world but I do think Bethesda with the Elder Scrolls still has the advantage with open world mechanics and design  ....slightly 8)

From what I understand Yakuza isnt a " real " open world  and there only certain places you can go to. It is an excellent game from everything I have read and heard but is it true " open " world like RDR2 or GTAV ?

A few pieces of Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack? Why thank you, yes!

Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L. Mencken

Eurogamer - Next Mass Effect teased with new artwork

BioWare's next Mass Effect project has been glimpsed again in three new pieces of artwork which have been posted online.

The images come from the newly-released BioWare: Stories and Secrets from 25 Years of Game Development coffee table book, which were then posted to Tumblr by user Felassan.

Also, is there some place that explains why Cyberpunk is so super-hotly anticipated?

Mostly, because CDPR last game was Witcher3. They wowed world back then, so surely Cyberpunk will be even better. Nothing could possibly go wrong.

I think so far Cp is hyped on promises, more then anything tangential. However, there’s been quite a bit of said about level of verticality of Cp.

Who will be the Bond is a good question. It is supposed to be brand new start, and, personally I think that going for their own Bond would be the best choice. Even if they get a Bond moviestar (be it Craig, or the lady who is suppose to take over after the next movie) it would be a sequel killer. They are likely to charge a lot, likely to be unavailable or just not willing to do it in the future.

Though even better, give us choice. I will go with Connery very time given a choice.

Open World means that you are open to do anything in the world with great level of detail for all your actions and consequences to it, which are put together by good story. Open world does not mean running for hours from point A to point B to be able to continue the quest while watching no your horses testicles... In this regards is every Yakuza much better openworld game than anything made by Rockstar, Ubisoft or EA...

Here are some good points about why it is one of the best open-world games, despite being just in one small part of the city...

More city builders are always a good thing.  I adored Caesar 3, shame that series is fallow.

Pharaoh was mine. But that was a long while ago, I'm genuinely curios to see how I fell about them today.

Same.  I really miss that tight turn-of-the-millennium period.

So, I guess it's Ultra/High settings with RTX turned OFF and DLSS turned ON for me.  Game definitely appears to be GPU bound, so I'm guessing it's not going to be an infinity-and-beyond open world type game, which could be a good thing if done right.

Hey, how about this for being contrarian:

Your post sounds like a competition for who has the tiniest pecker. You might win, but do you really want to? :p

The only thing that I hated about RDR2 was that it was "ultra realistic" for cleaning yourself and your horse... You had to eat and bathe... Yet you could get shot in the head 5 times and be alright.

Imo there was a huge disconnect between combat and the rest of the game....  Also the missions were extremely linear,. If you diverge from the plan whatsoever the mission failed... Which I think is the only real knock against its openness
