  1. Pretend I'm on Twitch and this is my exaggerated "I really didn't need to see that" reaction the first time I ran across this guy.

  2. I personally had a lot of fun with a Streetfighter/Forbidden Fist multiclass (if you have the community patch, it fixes the forbidden fist ability to actually be a weapon attack that benefits from sneak attack). The idea is that Forbidden Fists have the unique ability to deal self damage extremely fast; a Streetfighter multiclassed with anything else can sometimes run into the problem of not losing health fast enough before his allies go down and therefore needs to cheese the subclass mechanic with blunderbusses, sparkcrackers and cinder bombs. Anyhow, you can go the safe route by being a Nature Godlike for consistent +1 PL, or you can take the fun route and be a Death Godlike which encourages not just being Bloodied, but actually Near Death, at which point you more or less ascend to godhood and have one of the highest single target damage potentials in the game (Mythic tier fists, Tenacious inspiration, chain attacks when you crit, -50% recovery time, ridiculous sneak attack damage, deathblows). You'll probably want to bring a priest with BDD of course. That said, you're fairly tanky too, so even without a Priest you won't die immediately even at low health as long as you don't have a ridiculous number of FF stacks. Stat distribution: neutral might and dexterity. Dump Intellect, you want FF debuff to be as short as possible so you can quickly acquire wounds by repeatedly gaining only a single stack and letting it expire. Max out Resolve, then Perception (you want crits for chain attacks from Heartbeat Drumming and Swift Flurry), then put the rest into constitution. On the rogue side of the tree Ring the Bell and Toxic Strike are useful in conjunction with the Enfeebled you apply through FF. Escape is obviously good for repositioning and getting out of dangerous situations. On the monk side of the tree you take Swift Flurry, Enduring Dance, Thunderous Blows and Turning Wheel. That's it, since FF has problems with generating sufficient wounds, and I like to save up Mortification to reuse SF/Enduring Dance when they expire. All your other skill points go into passive abilities, since both trees have lots of good ones. As for how far you should push your Forbidden Fist ability, you'll have to figure it out yourself. 3 stacks hurts a lot but only gets you to around Bloodied. 4 stacks will pretty much drain all your health. A fun fact is that if you have your negative effects suppressed by a Priest or Paladin, you can spam FF like you have no stacks as well. It will cost 0 wounds, but the debuff stacks will still accrue and eventually activate when the suppression wears off. With Xoti in tow, I started a lot of fights with Devotions for the Faithful - Dire Blessing - Suppress Affliction, and then when it was about to wear off, use BDD because the debuff would otherwise OHKO you with a single tick. For gear, I steal Tuotilo's Palm when I have ~10 ish mechanics on one of my party members. The Skaen Robe you find in the Hanging Sepulchres is really nice, as Might Affliction immunity prevents you from losing Tenacious, and the low health effect constantly triggers since you're often Near Death. Out of the 6 or 7 PotD upscaled runs I've done, this build had one of the highest damage outputs. Great fun. Josh Sawyer tweeting my screenshot of this build I posted on Reddit: His courage thick as steel:

  3. By the way: if you cast Reaping Knives on a Wizard and that Wizard summons an Essential Phantom then that Phantom also has Reaping Knives and does raw dmg (which is cool)- but it doesn't generate focus for the Cipher (which is too bad).

  6. Has anybody tested, or does anybody know, whether White Flames triggers on each of the Sun and Moon flail's two hits? If it does, that makes that the best weapon for this build. Edit: I googled some discussion, and it looks like people tested whether it triggered multiple times with blunderbusses, which it didn't. I assume the same will be true for the multiple hits of Sun and Moon. By the way, that same googling revealed that Boeroer (of course) proposed the idea of Magran's axe/Magran's blessing on a Kind Wayfarer, stacking might and healing in the discussion within a thread. Oh well, it is still good to have the build written out and put on the build list.

  8. Microsoft will own Fallout franchise after March 2021 so my GUESS that Josh will be working for Obsidian's Fallout (may be New Vegas 2) because internally they knew MS is going to acquire ZeniMax.

  10. If you can overcome Fort recasting Thousand Cuts doubles duration, no idea if the damage stacks tho.

  11. Damn, would have been quite a boost for Reaping Knives (probably too good though), thanks for checking - I'm away from my rig currently.. Happy holidays!

  12. I can check, wait a sec... edit: Reaping Knives do nothing with Death of a Thousand Cuts. It seems the best ways to utilize that are still Mindblades and Antipathetic Field.

  13. Forbidden Fists are cool (also check out Steel Garrote + FF which is very good in the early game due to enfeebled + Garrote ability) - but I have a slight hunch that OP doesn't want to play another one after having completed his last run with a Forbidden Fist as initially stated...

  14. Sorry double post, but I just checked the Psion: Reaping Knives do indeed give the Psion focus. Actually - contrary to my initial statement that a Psion doesn't need Reaping Knives - it's quite nice to have that additional focus income. It can more than double the focus gain if your knife buddy is attacking fast enough.

  15. Don't forget that the Animancer's Energy Blade has only 3 secs recovery instead of the standard sabre's 4 secs. It's as fast as daggers are. Animancer's EB has 12 base dmg and "sharp" on top (+10%) while Reaping Knives have 14 base dmg. It's a bit more but not that significant. Keep in mind that you have to summon them for whopping 80 focus, that they have a duration and so on. Edit: What' cool is casting Reaping Knives on multiple party members because it feels a bit like an exponential focus gain machine at some point. SUre it takes some time to set it up but once you have 3 very fast hitting allies using Reaping Knives for you you will have a substancial focus gain while you can use your powers without having to bother with attacking yourself. The important part is fast attack speed: Reaping Knives don't care about damage when we talk about the focus gain. It's always +5 focus per strike. So a very fast attacker, even if he's dealing whimpy dmg per swing, will generate good focus for you. Unfortunately you can't cat Reaping Knives on summons like the Monk's. I guess some really fast hitters like Barbarian/Streetfighter or Barbarian/Monk or so could be the best focus generators for you. Addendum: bonus attacks from Swift FLurry/Heartbeat Drumming do not generate focus.

  16. I played FF/Streetfighter and it was really cool, indeed, but it was mortar focused. Firstly i dumped Con and Mig (with perma buffs it was above 10 anyway, so no negative modifier) - sneak attack and deathblows do the job for weapon dmg. Max Res, Dex, high int for mortar AoE and Deep Wounds- forbidden curse ticks when applied, then after every 3 sec, so making it last less than 2.9 is unnecessary. Powder Burns distracts to activates streetfighter bonus and wears off after ~3.5sec with buffed Int (giving wound, healing and activating Crucible of Suffering), so one can rotate stunning surge and forbidden fist. Toxic Strike, Stunning Surge and Confounding Blind on AoE are insane, especially with Fire in the Hole jump and Kitchen Stove 4 hit rolls on single enemy. I picked Human instead of Godlike, to put Helm of the White Void which works with all core abilities. Mach it with Guardians Plate and Frostfur Mantle - it's one of the few classes, that use it effectively, and get bonus for stylish look

  17. I wonder if this family is going to the suspect in every criminal case where there are "no fingerprints"? "The men in Apu's family appear to share a genetic mutation so rare it is thought to affect only a small handful of families in the world: they have no fingerprints." ... "n 2008, when Apu was still a boy, Bangladesh introduced National ID cards for all adults, and the database required a thumbprint. The baffled employees did not know how to issue a card to Apu's father, Amal Sarker. Finally, he received a card with "NO FINGERPRINT" stamped on it." https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-55301200

  18. I would highly recommend giving one of the newer post-4.0 subclasses a try in some shape or form if you haven't already. A lot of them are really interesting and some of them very transformative to the class play experience (like psion, where you could do psion/caster and unlike a normal cipher it really works well). Interesting post-4.0 subclasses of note that I can vouch for: Furyshaper, Debonaire, Psion, Ancient. Blood mage and tactician obviously, but they strike me more as straightforwardly "powerful" rather than "intriguing" edit - very recently I did a Furyshaper/Stalker companion that I just threw in on a whim that ended up surprising me with how effective it was. Interrupting blows + carnage with ranger accuracy is very nice, and the stalker +1 AR plus barbarian thick skinned on a fire godlike meant that I was surprisingly tanky even with frenzy active. Having fury totem and fear totem at hand was real nice, too.

  21. Last week I took my younger cat(Ignus/4yo/male) to the vet. For the first time in my life not only did I see him angry, but also furious. He grabbed my feet and teared up my entire body all the way up to my arm. I had to use both of my hands and my entire weight just to keep him away from me until he eventually let go of me(should have yelled instead of wrestling him). I was shocked! I thought it was his teeth for sure because he also stopped eating the way he used to but surprisingly, the vet told us that his teeth look just fine. I dunno, I was never aggressive towards Ignus but he does have a case of PTSD because he was left alone on the streets in the cold of the winter when he was only 3-2 months old. So he always needs cuddles and I guess I ignored the poor fella a bit. I've been playing with him an hour a day ever since and he is doing fine. Let's hope he doesn't tear my face apart when I am asleep because I ain't giving them away.

  22. I get the impression that I'm kind of persona non grata around here these days, but that simply can't stop me from my usual "trawling" wishing everyone a happy and blessed Christmas. :broad grin: I won't claim I'm not a troll, but I will insist that my wishes are heartfelt. This has been a difficult year for everyone, but it has had its moments. I find I'm quicker to anger, as if I were back in more impetuous days, but I remain quick to forgive, and that's what I want most this Christmas. I want to put aside all the anger that has accumulated over the past year. Anyhow, if someone has created or creates another Christmas thread, feel free to merge mine into theirs. Either way, Xairete, my Obsidian friends. Godspeed your journey. Fair winds and following seas.

  23. In Wasteland 2, for the first half of the game there's a quest to turn in scrap metal you get from breaking down weapons. For the second half of the game you're in another location and there isn't such a quest, but I figured I'd be a hero when I returned from my mission with 1000s of scrap metal pieces to supply the Rangers for years to come. To avoid spoilers, I brought home my mountain of metal, but there was a plot reason that this wasn't helpful. Completely related, I really like the unlimited weight limit in PoE2. Saves me crawling across the world map with 5 encumbered characters and stashing things where I'll never find them again.

  24. https://twitter.com/jesawyer/status/1326718682412720129 An interesting bit of discussion on die rolls, BG3, and PoE. I am 100% in agreement with Sawyer. His point is exactly why I have, in recent years, soured on D&D mechanics and don't care for D&D that much anymore. I am so glad he opted against using the D&D SRD for PoE, especially because the resulting original PoE mechanics are far superior to D&D mechanics imo.
