At what point in the history has any country or part of country, which have been conquered and colonialized by Russia had 30% of ethnic Muscovite population, before they engaged in mass murder and ethnic cleansing of indigenous population? EDIT: It always amuses me, how are people defending the "poor" Russian speaking "minorities" in other countries, how they are "oppressed" when they have to learn the state language of the country, where they are living, and at the same time, they consider Russians killing the minorities living in Russia left and right as business as usual, because "evil" west was doing the same 100 years ago3 points

As sad as it is, this statement is accurate, if we're defining "BioWare Game" as a proper RPG. It's not BioWare's last great game, I would argue that's Mass Effect 2, which came out just 1 year later IIRC. However, as much as I love ME2, and I do, it's soooooo much less a RPG and soooooo much more an action/adventure game than DA:O, or ME1, for that matter. ME2 is where, and again, I want to stress how much I like ME2, it might be BioWare's best ever game. Right now there are people with BG2-shaped pitchforks and BG1-shaped torches marching toward my home. I don't care, ME2 is ****ing awesome. Anyway, back on track, ME2 is where BioWare stopped making RPGs and fully switched over to making RPG-Lite action/adventure games, much like Zelda. Nothing wrong with that, BTW, that style of game can be fantastic, like, well, Zelda, but it's not truly a RPG. [random tangent]Zelda is RPG for Dummies, and I mean that in the absolute best way imaginable. Zelda takes much of the stuff RPGs do and dumbs them down just enough so that they become completely intuitive. The design is absolutely brilliant, this Miyamoto guy might have a future in the business. You put someone who has never played a RPG in their life in front of a character sheet and you either have some explaining to do or they have some reading to do before y'all can begin. Anybody can just pick up a NES controller and start playing the game without so much as looking at the cover of the instruction manual. Anyone can understand I have more hearts means I can take more damage and this sword is better because now the monsters die in less attacks and I need a key to open a door. You go to a dungeon, you find something in said dungeon, and at the end you fight a boss. Lather, rinse repeat. That's basically what you do when you play RPGs, dumbed down, sure, but what you gain is that it's plug and play to pretty much anyone.[/random tangent]2 points

I like building her as the "Venomous Vailian," Spine of Thicket Green (Empowering Instinct upgrade) + Helm of Grotto Deep + Spider Silk Robe (Poison Master upgrade). Then choose all of the Beast, Plant, Poison, and Conjuration damage spells. A few have multiple keywords, stacking tons of +PL. For Poison immune enemies, you usually still have a few damage spells that work, but I also like stacking Arcana (she gets +2 from her background, which is unique) and using scrolls. I recommend using the community patch mod and the balance polishing mod, which make the key wording for poison much clearer (it's hidden on a few spells in Vanilla). Incidentally, if you do use the Balance Polishing Mod, your Wildstrike Corrode will buff your PL on several spells even more. Very cool. Also, pairs very, very well with the Howler Konstanten that Boeroer posted, because most of these spells target Fortitude. I like pairing them together, b/c they have some unique dialogue/relationship stuff you can do. Cheers!2 points

So now I would like to know if you have some nice Fassina builds as Wizard/ Druid ? I don't want yet an other Sc wizard or Sc druid. I would love one that emphasize on shape shift, but her conjurer subclass prevent her frol using the illusions buff, and I that I don't know if she'd be that good for that, maybe there is better things to fo with her. Thanks for help1 point

Haley seeks to clarify Civil War comments as backlash mounts “I mean, I think the cause of the Civil War was basically how government was going to run. The freedoms and what people could and couldn’t do,” Haley had said Wednesday in a visit to Berlin — the first of five events in the Granite State as she attempts to close the gap with Republican front-runner Donald Trump ahead of next month’s primary. The former South Carolina governor then asked the voter who had asked her about the Civil War what he thought the cause was, to which the voter responded, “I’m not running for president.” “I think it always comes down to the role of government and what the rights of the people are,” Haley added. “I will always stand by the fact that I think government was intended to secure the rights and freedoms of the people. It was never meant to be all things to all people,” she added. The voter criticized her for not mentioning slavery in her answer. “In the year 2023, it’s astonishing to me that you answer that question without mentioning the word slavery,” the voter said. “What do you want me to say about slavery?” Haley asked. ... now this may come as some surprise to non-americans, but each US state teaches history different in their schools, and each school district has a fair amount o' leeway to implement state standards with individual teachers obvious getting additional input. in many southern states, the way the civil war gets taught is fundamental affected by the daughters of the confederacy's efforts at revisionism-- southern children frequent learn that the war between the states was ultimately about state's rights and slavery was a tangential concern. worth a read additional link "the revisionist campaign of Confederate sympathizers gained traction. By 1940, the “Lost Cause” narrative dominated textbooks nationwide; as Matt Ford observed this August in an article for The Atlantic, textbooks used when today’s American leaders were in school “downplayed the role of slavery” in the Civil War. "In 1946, the NAACP embarked on its own nationwide textbook campaign, which began in New York to fight against historical inaccuracies and for the inclusion of black history in the school curriculum. It wasn’t until the 1970s that the textbook industry began making significant changes, but the myth of the Lost Cause nevertheless continues to hold sway, as the Roper Center of Public Opinion demonstrated in 2011, on the 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War. At that point, a significant portion of Americans — more than half, according to some polls — believed that the main cause of the war was states’ rights." haley said something stoopid, but as a former southern governor, it ain't surprising she promotes a pernicious view o' history. aside, the following is a somewhat amusing, but well-researched video on the state's rights as the cause o' the civil war stoopid which persists to this day. HA! Good Fun!1 point

This trailer seems to be a lot longer than the one posted here a few weeks ago. And it seems to say the game is expected to be released in the second half of 2024 (with game reveal in summer '24).1 point

Is such an escalation though, I doubt they'll go for it, really. A type of victory also doesn't remove Ukraine from the board, so they could be used in a future war. Not as if NATO is going to be sitting idle for 10 years as well. Just the new domino theory to scare people. Is sort of odd how people judge NATO for how they respond to an outsider1 point

Inspirations/Affliction themselves don't suppress each other. They just get cancelled by a higher tier one. You can use a 1s paralysis to "dispell" a 60s immobilisation.1 point

Yes I know, I might have been unclear but the thing is the might inspiration, specifically, does not get a duration re-fresh when re-casting the abiility after its been upgraded by slayers claw. So if casting Each Kill Fed His Fury again with say 10s left on the duration of the old one (which means the tier 3 might inspiration has ~25s left because upgrading it with Slayers Claw seems to re-set its duration), the duration of the Con and Res inspirations are refreshed, but the duration of the Might inspiraion after upgrade stays the same and instead of having a suppressed tier 1 might inspiration that kicks in when the tier 3 runs out (which is what I thought would happen) Fassina ends up with only con and res inspiration and no might inspiration after the duration of the might inspiration from the first Each Kill Fed His Fury cast runs out. Progression of ..Each Kill buff over time with first on cast with slayers claw equiped -> upgrade when blights switches element -> con and res inspiration run out -> re-cast -> might runs out I guess I just didnt really know how suppression with inspirations work, basically I thought the tier 1 might inspiration from the re-cast would exist but be suppressed and kick in when the tier 3 runs out but it seems it does not.1 point

@Boeroer beat me to the punch, with a much better overview of Swashbuckler Eder. Basically go with his build for guaranteed success. If you want to tinker a little, I've had fun keeping Eder equipped with a Medium Shield and use the Block modal ability most of the time. It gives 30% resist to weapon attacks, which count as a miss for the purposes of triggering Riposte. Because Eder doesn't have all of the Deflection buffs that some other versions of this build could get (Trickster, etc.), I think the modal makes him a little bit tougher vs weapon attacks (though you lose the nice AoE damage reduction from the Large Shield). Another way to play this is to use both and switch as needed. If you are using a Medium Shield, I like using Magran's Blessing, because it makes Eder a little more responsive once you are able to pick up Two Weapon Style (Lowers his recovery quite a bit on weapon attacks). Note, you can have both Weapon & Shield Style AND Two Weapon Style with this setup. One downside here is that you are hitting less often with your Main Hand weapon, which might matter if it has a proc you really want. Speaking of procs you might want, a synergy I found in my last run was giving Eder Magistrate's Cudgel. The debuff applies on every hit and grants your entire party a stacking (because it works like Hunters Mark) +10 accuracy vs. the target for a generous 30 seconds. This can be applied to multiple enemies quickly via Riposte, and is just such a huge boost, especially on harder difficulties.1 point

^ Looks like a nice case, minus the RGBs, but I assume you can turn those off, or to something less aggressive. My case just has 2 thin vertical lines down the front that I can make do all sorts of stuff but I just have amber light go from top to bottom. That's the maximum amount of RGBs I can handle, I find anything more abrasive. To each their own, though, and RGBs aside, it looks like a spacious and well-built case with plenty of air flow.1 point

You know, I'm not sure 30% of the population of Burkina Faso or Mali was ethnically French at any point, and that either has lost a third of its population over the past 30 years. Could be wrong, but I don't think I am. You're not going to find me saying the same thing about New Caledonia or French Guiana or Miquelon (and the other couple of islands whose name escapes me; nor here for that matter, where 85% of the population isn't Maori). But there is... a certain irony about trying to force assimilation or eviction and then being upset when the target doesn't like it*, much as there is a certain irony when the colonialist doesn't understand why the colonised isn't appreciating them. Albanians colonised Kosovo under a deliberate Turkish policy, somehow one suspects that is Different though... as with a lot of things the west is more than happy to talk the talk about equality and the like, but actual application of principle is always done on a self interest basis. *Please give your framed pictures of Julius Malema and Bob Mugabe a kiss from me, Comrade Bruce1 point

This is a good point, we all so opposed and outraged by Colonialism and Western Imperialism in Africa so we should accept and support all countries that dont want anything to do with Russia and Putins attempt to recreate the Russian empire and its borders. Who says sovereign countries must learn Russian or care about Russian history, it should be a choice that the elected governments make. Russia doesnt get to decide that for other countries Always say NO to Colonialism !!!!1 point

Thank you for your reply. Was going to say that I know what I'm doing (the BSc Computer Science degree kind of suggests that, old may it be), but I've never had this issue with any new PC or VM (the exact same Windows 10 USB worked on them). Anything of value was backed up already, so I will try to unallocate the partitions from one of the drives on the weekend. Not sure, if it affects the USB drive not being recognised as bootable (so no the "Which type of installation do you want?" question, the PC just tries to start Win 7 and fails), but it might. The USB port is working, otherwise, Linux Mint wouldn't be able to interact with the USB drive, so I assume that the issue is with HDDs. Shouldn't be BIOS (no UEFI), but can't confirm nor inclined to touch any firmware.1 point

I thought Dragon Age Origins was bioware's best game, with Baldurs Gate being it's most influential.1 point

Oh yeah. And it is for the first time, when I am upgrading my armour as well. And I get killed much less with midroll than when I have used the “ninja ring”, even though I get hit much more often. I have also enough material to upgrade Ornstein’s Spear to the max, but it will have to wait some time before I get high enough stats, that it would make the difference compared to maxed out Lightning Spear.1 point

The Outer Worlds Also got a reptile dog after the quest, though not a combat companion. Vampyr No idea why the citizens had more blood than werewolves and could not be bitten only partially. The werewolves could. Most opponents will return to their locations if kited too far and can be bitten repeatedly.1 point

A few days ago my dad got checked in the hospital for a heart attack, apparently he had one 3-4 weeks ago and had just been kind of hobbling around, given how heavy of a smoker he was and the health effects of that it tracks I guess. Hopefully his lungs continue to improve and he'll get a procedure this Saturday so he can go home.0 points

BG3 is not a story-rich game. The lame main story with a million plot-holes and contraditions is the game's biggest weakness. People who've played the game a lot have laid out these issues in great detail in thread after thread on the Larian forum.0 points

Nothing new I guess... one of the worlds leading platforms of intolerance, misogyny and racism has decided to "cancel Frieren" (yes, twitter, x whatever stupid name that particular platform wants on its gravestone) Just because she's very racist, labeling demons as beasts mimicking human speech and thinks they should be eradicated on sight. Elon Musk probably feels bad for the poor, persecuted demons A few things I learned about the main character... she's NOT a morning person ...and she's teaching her apprentice the same low tolerance attitude towards demons Sigh... and now waiting for it to become Friday night so the next episode can get released0 points
