  1. The Talos Principle 2. Not sure how it is going to work, considering the ending of the first game, but it looks interesting.

  3. Don't expect to feel good about yourself while playing. Ventrue are scum. Tremere are scum who do blood magic. Do a Malkavian run on your second playthrough, so you can appreciate their insight. Feel free to go full combat. You don't get around fighting some boss fights anyway.

  5. Well, just to expand that a little, having "issues" with older games basically just means sub-par performance in certain titles while it can match or surpass much pricier cards (including the RX 7600) in others, but we're almost always talking about more than playable performance in 1080p. Well, outside of turning on every bell and whistle in current console ports, but those choke an RX 7600 to death just as much. There are some really strange outliers like Rainbow Six: Siege where the RX 7600 pulls 60% ahead of the ARC 750, but we're talking about 230 vs. 400fps here. Kinda pointless. Edit: Intel's first attempt at ray tracing also beats even RDNA3's capabilities. Not that this in particular would matter in your use cases, but it just adds to the Intel outing being a pretty good first attempt, majorly hamstrung by software.

  6. which is definitely untenable for me, given the kinds of games i (don't) play although in reality, given the games that i (don't) play, i could probably just go pick up an rtx 2060 for $100 and call it a day, or wait another year until the rtx 3060 is thereabouts the same place

  7. Nope, looking at generational increases, actual mid-range perfomance moved to the $600 point with the RXT 4070, a card that should cost $400 and be called RTX 4060 (maybe TI) and would be an amazing deal for that prize. Although, with nVidia's and AMD's marketing campaign for the Intel ARC kicking into full gear, perhaps Intel can convince their shareholders to let them continue making discrete graphics cards. If, uhm, it is not too late already. So perhaps that'll come down in the future. Even so, the A750 for $199 looks like a decent enough deal, but it does still have driver issues with older games.

  8. For me it was the payout of the cars estimated value minus the value of the wreck. The difference between insurer is that some will auction off the wreck for you while others will leave that to you. There are some rules regarding what happens when the actual value of the wreck is higher or lower than estimated, but it's very convoluted.

  9. The Tale of the Princess Kaguya (2013). I don't know if it's just because I'm watching it for the second time, or because this time I watched it in Japanese, but it went from an "I like it" to an "I love it". Isao Takahata is the man, as always.

  11. The Intel cards also need resizable BAR, or you leave ~ a quarter of their performance on the table. Though I'd suspect most people have a resizable BAR capable motherboard nowadays.

  12. Malkavian on first playthrough doesn't sound like a good idea to me. I feel like it's best for the second. They make every dialog weight a lot different than before. You pretty much play a different game if I can remember it correctly (it's been many years since I last played it). That said, ignore guns and go all-in on melee. Stealth is also useful.

  13. Stealth (non-lethal KO) is mostly viable. Then a boss battle happens and suddenly it is not. If I'm not mistaken, the dialogue skill checks are static and the options unavailable are not shown, so it might be considered to use a guide for them and to avoid investing skill points unless necessary (e.g. important dialogue or boss battle). Playing Weird West - Bounty Hunter's Journey (demo). It seems to be a stealth-action. Fine so far, but feels somehow restrictive. The controls are rebindable and the saving possible almost at any time. The opening with the Data Policy was interesting to see. I also managed to set myself on fire within the first 2 minutes of gameplay.

  14. I never understood the appeal in the first place. I didn't read the books or watch the movies and think, "Man, I really want to be this gross creature that lives under a mountain."

  15. I couldn't decide between a Ventrue and a Malkavian, the two of which seemed to have the best non-combat stats/skills, ended up flipping a coin and it landed Malkavian. My character looks like an insane cheerleader of very questionable moral fiber, but she does have nice hair, so...was that bad? I see now that it might have had some effect on the player dialogue, which might explain why it seems all my options were all written by a madman?

  16. Yeah this 6400 G.Skill set was one of the first DDR5's to be made with Hynix A-Die, so it turned out they can oc pretty far. Could boot 7600 with them, but stability is another story...

  19. Looks very good. The first game was an excellent port - it ran very well and supported the native PC input devices, including 5-button mice, from the start. Though, I would love to see an adequate saving system implemented (not copying and pasting files via Windows Explorer) and the ability to create the whole party without additional Steam accounts.

  20. That probably just means that Paradox got very little per sale for PoE1- not surprising since they were essentially acting more as a distributor of Obsidian's title rather than a publisher. Tyranny may have sold less copies, but they'd have got far more return per copy sold.

  21. The same team that made RE2 remake, which I consider a near masterpiece, should not have done RE4, a game that I hate. It's like trying to take a piece of turd and turning it into a gemstone. The good news here is that Remedy looks to be willing to fill the gap for those people that liked the aesthetics of RE4 but hated it as a game.

  22. Oh, for sure. We have salvage yards where you can buy wrecks: Online Car Auctions - Copart Chicago North ILLINOIS - Repairable Salvage Cars for Sale But I was meaning, I dont think the insurance claimant can get the payout and the vehicle from the insurance company. You could probably ask them where they salvaged it at and buy it back from there though.

  23. Yeah, I bought my car for 21000SEK in 2016, and I've found similar ones in worse quality go for more than the double I gave. I suspect local laws would govern what counts as a totaled vehicle. If it's the same as here, it's in the owners hands, even if it's just a ball of scrapmetal. Passing inspection might be an issue though

  24. 6650XT, with about 10% lower clocks (excluding boost, which isn't sustained) and 10% less draw. Which would be fine (ish), if it were the 7500XT as it 'should' be and 50 bucks cheaper, as it should be since it's on an older node as well. Dropping the XT but still calling it a 7600 doesn't really cut it. Looks like the rumours of something Going Wrong with RDNA3* are pretty much borne out now. Very little improvement either in terms of efficiency or computing power. *even taking into account it not being 'proper' RDNA3.

  29. cowboy bebop episode 9 idk why i have such a difficult time mustering up any motivation to watch this show, it's generally fine, yet it's still really difficult "Hey, Jet, did you know that there are three things that I hate? Rugrats, beasts, and tomboys..." Spike has a very...interesting idea of "tomboy". I'm not exactly sure what Faye all qualifies as, but I'm pretty sure it isn't quite that. Maybe it varies from culture to culture. (e): Episode 10, the one about Jet and his ex-girlfriend. So you know how Sailor Moon would often introduce "guest" characters who would be the target of the villains for that episode, before then disappearing forever from the show once that particular episode was over? They might even be someone one of our characters supposedly already knows or was friends with or whatever. It's frankly not an uncommon tool for a lot of shows, but for something fairly silly like Sailor Moon, who really cares, right? At the end of the day, it's about our characters, not the randos that come and go, and the show itself usually seems to know it and behaves accordingly. In a show like Cowboy Bebop, doing this sort of thing feels quite a bit more grave when the show tries to treat its random guest characters very seriously and attempts to make real emotional beats out of it. I mention it here because so much of the focus of this episode, instead of being on Jet and his struggles with how he was abandoned by her and had to cope and move past it, seemed to come from the point of view of the ex-girlfriend and her new guy, who were only just first introduced (heck, even just mentioned!) this episode. We don't even really get to see Jet experience any kind of real character growth for it, because not only was this entire thing just introduced this episode, from the moment he sees the girlfriend again, he already seems to have completely forgiven her and just wants some closure, so there's never really any question of how he's going to resolve the situation. It seems a very strange way of trying to develop and resolve what should be serious character arcs for your characters, and I think this is why the show feels largely ineffective whenever it tries to get serious for me. For silly popcorn entertainment, this show is fine...but I've yet to see it successfully do anything else.

  33. A glance through Redfall's credits reveals that 70-80% of the Arkane Austin level/OW design team consists of people who've never worked on an Arkane game before. The "fresh blood" were collected from all over the OW games industry, working on games such as Mafia, Saints Row, Watch Dogs, Far Cry, Destiny etc. before. OW lead designer Rachel Adams prior worked on ME Andromeda and (fittingly?) Anthem. There's at least one leading level designer in Kelly Mangerino who prior was but a junior on Mafia 3 and got promoted for this immediately. In some ways, this makes sense, since Arkane have been built from the ground-up as a highly specialized studio -- and cooperative looter shooter open world games wasn't what this specialization was about. The mirror men of Arkane | Polygon However, a bulk of the newbies according to their LinkedI were hired as late as early 2022. There's still veterans in key positions, such as Bare, Huso and Steve Powers, people that go way back all the way to Deus Ex. Still, Prey's system lead Seth Shain is at Bungie. Prey's lead level designer meanwhile at Archetype. Gaming journalists, this would likely make for an interesting post mortem, eventually. And that's even without considering that Arkane founder and Prey director Raf Colantonio has left Arkane alongside a couple of other Arkane guys to form WolfEye (their first game, Weird West, is actually pretty fun). Bets accepted that they will be joined by more Arkane staff for their second game, for which they've signed a deal with an investor and posted job offers. Despite my ancient 1050ti not being up to par, I'd finally just bought an oldschool boxed copy of Deathloop (from Arkane Lyon, with the fabulous Dana Nightingale, once hired from the Thief fan mission community and famous for D2's Clockwork Mansion, still there). That's all you can do as a consumer: Sending the right market signals. Rather than the wrong ones. Because wasting studios like this on projects like Redfall is the blockbusting gaming industry at its most immature -- and similar as if Hollywood were to waste its better talent on the most generic Marvel spin-offs and Assassin's Creed movie tie-ins for life.

  36. Background, 95 old woman waved a steak knife at the police (she was using a walking frame, so it's not like she was going to run after the cop with the knife). While he didn't shoot to kill, he tasered her. Now she's dead. She collapsed and hit her head on the way down. A bad case of "overkill" (poor choice of words, I know). https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-65696475 For me, an obvious case of using the wrong tool for the job, as is often the case where police is the "default" go to solution whenever somebody somewhere has a problem. Same thing when dealing with people with mental issues. Police are often a blunt tool applied to a fragile object (the few specialists working for the force not withstanding).
