kinda stretching to try and make this work, eh? as you note, bismuth dies easy, which when it happens (frequent) is gonna result in arue being prone for a round, and yeah, until you get the improved snapshot feats you do indeed need to be in melee to take advantage o' the the reflexive aoo. seeing as how long point blank master is delayed in the neoseeker build, if @Gorth thought arue was dying too frequent in his current normal run am having difficulty imagining what his reaction would be trying to make her snap shot effective. w/o trip on your beastie you are also sacrificing potential aoo chances, so bismuth is more o' a half-arsed desperation option to make complete not viable slight less so. and arue ab being similar but not quite as good until 19, at which point the vanilla ranger due to gear and improved quarry significant outstrips the neoseeker build is maybe not the best salesmanship o' a build, eh? to be snapshot effective is requiring a multiple feat investments to make a niche build viable, feats (improved initiative, improved precise shot, etc.,) which may arguably be spent better elsewhere. also, am thinking there remains a misunderstanding as well. to get the most outta arue's ranger's bond you need a significant number o' instant enemy casts. otherwise, you got a swell favoured enemy bonus worth sharing at 50% strength against demons of magic and pretty much nothing else. a mere +1 party bonus 'gainst demons o' slaughter, demons o' strength, humans and outsiders? so yeah, the loss o' five levels o' spell casting is deserving more than a hand wave. when kp and others moan about stat bloat, arue with an instant enemy bolstered ranger bond is yet another option for stacking ab, an ab boost which is in fact better than a pure bard's. btw, the first level the neoseeker arue build sees a single instant enemy cast is sixteen. oh well, not gonna agree on this. blur actual ain't terrible for potions as it has a three minute duration. be wary o' other potions as they may have exceeding short durations or limited efficacy. mage armour is another decent potion as the bonus is a flat +4 and the duration is hour/level. if you don't use barding, then a potion o' mage armour is a no brainer unless you have superior bracers of armour on your critter. shield of faith potions offer the absolute minimum protection possible for the spell, which is +2. have sosiel cast and the benefits will last longer and be more effective, rendering up to a +5 o' deflection. barkskin potions get a ten minute duration... am thinking is ten minutes. but again, you are seeing only a +2 boost to natural armour when you could benefiting from +5 if camellia or another caster o' at least level 12 applies the buff to your horse. am agreeing with @majesticthat your animal companions deserve to be buffed and geared with similar forethought as your primate party members. you don't need to spend a diamond to rez a horse, but as enemies is more likely to attack seelah's horse than seelah, there is a good reason to make the horse resilient. that said, if you are having fun doing as you are doing, then is good enough. no need to consider advice if you are progressing just fine already. however, at the end o' act iii there is a couple encounters which offer difficulty spikes similar (worse) to blackwater, and the downside is you are not gonna be able to respec w/o using a mod or by reloading a save which is temporal remote. won't be able to buy additional scrolls or potions either. you will be stuck with current resources and builds trying to get past hurdles more frustrating than other act iii content. HA! Good Fun!2 points

Indeed. High-ranking US officials have been saying off the record after Putin's speech that they now believe Putin is deranged in the clinical sense. I personally couldn't help drawing comparisons to how Hitler looked and sounded in his late-1944 speeches. And this guy has his finger on thousands of nukes. Let's hope there is a Brutus somewhere within that regime.2 points

Edit: END BUILD POST (later in this topic if want to skip straight to it): These are two subclasses (Forbidden Fist + Trickster) i've never completed the game with, just gave them quick tries but never together. I've read a lot about these subclasses and seen them suggested as a good combination but there's a few things I'm not sure about, especially with a couple of ideas I want to try. Will start with what I think I want and then how it will work, not sure if possible so feel free to suggest changes or additions. Wild Oren for RES resistance. Max RES and PER, don't min/max any of the others. Key monk abilities: Iron Wheel (AR + CON) Thunderous Blows (MIG) Enlightened Agony (INT) Crucible of Suffering (FOR,REF,WILL) Parting Sorrow (wounds on disengage) Key Rogue abilities: Mirrored Image (DEF) Ryngrim's Repulsive Visage (Sickened + Terrified) Reposte (Free attacks on miss) Persistent Distraction (Distract enemy -5 PER and Flank them) Deep Wounds (DOT) Deathblows (+weapon damage) Toxic Strike and/or Pernicious Cloud (Corrode DOT) Key Items: Voidward (reduce raw damage from Forbidden Fist) Ring of the Solitary Wanderer (RES + reduce hostile effects) Tuotilo's Palm (DEF + wounds) How I think it will work: When required wounds available, use Forbidden Fist on target until applied Enfeebled (-CON, +50% hostile effect, -100% healing). Activate Thunderous Blows (MIG). Active Enlightened Agony (INT) and remove self damage. Use Toxic Strike for massive DOT and more chance of it hitting due to FF's -CON reducing FOR. If enemy is immune, then rely on Forbidden Fist more. High RES, Mirrored Image, Reposte, Small Shield, Persistent Distraction makes you hard to hit and can trigger return damage. Iron Wheel adds survivability for hits that do come through plus the self damage. If damage from melee is getting too much, use Ryngrims Repulsive Visage to terrify opponents plus giving you wounds. Questions: I'm worried about how many high Guile abilities I'm planning to include, if they miss or get interrupted thats a lot of Guile wasted. Any other key abilities to add? I noticed there's some crit synergy between the classes but wasn't sure if there's enough spare ability points at right point. I was tempted to add Ring The Bell which does Raw DOT with one handed weapon. As its a Full Attack does this work if using Tuotilo's Palm to give 2 raw damage DOT attacks or at least 2 chances of 1 DOT being applied? I really want to increase INT to enhance the self buffs and enemy debuffs/DOTs last longer, does this make Forbidden Fist self damage too painful? Possible to solo? The biggest issue I see would be Poison immune enemies which a lot of bosses are. Looking forward to reading any input you have!1 point

It's made fresh for the lunch buffet, so even if nobody ate any of it, it's no older than three hours, but I've been to the place every now and then, and they're always hard at work making more, so it's less. Certainly fresher than anything you get from a supermarket. Health regulations and inspections being what they are, Asian joints can't really afford to poison their customers at the moment. Particularily not after that little hooplah a while back where a whole bunch of illegal gyoza/jiaozi/mandu factories were raided by the police. I don't think we ever really qualified as dirt poor, but we were a single income, blue collar family of four for a long time. Some things keep sticking around.1 point

Nothing wrong with being a cheapskate, I was dirt poor and well versed in the cheapskate arts for many years. Even now, when I make decent money and have no pressing need to cheap out I still sometimes employ the cheapskate skills I learned years ago. I might be a bit worried about leftover sushi. How leftover are we talking here? How long was that sitting out? I suppose it's no older than the stuff you can get at the supermarket and higher quality too.1 point

Our local Asian restaurant joined the Too Good To Go service. Me, being the miser that I am, immediately tried it out: So, that's a whole lot of maki (regular and California with avocado, salmon and tuna), fried shrimp and calmari, Korean sticky chicken with noodles, fried chicken wings with rice, a box of potato wedges, some salad and a whole bunch of fried fruit with honey for 9.98€. The only downside is that the pickup time is from 14:50 to 15:00 each day (their lunch break, they close until 17:00), so this will only be viable for working from home days. Well, and you really need to be completely free of that useless feeling of, ah, dignity to go and grab leftovers, because while the app is trying to sell people on saving otherwise wasted food, let's face the facts here, this is takeout for people who are happy with whatever they get for really cheap. edit: With the perspective offering no real insight regarding the size of the boxes, that's two full layers of maki in the box, not just the visible one on top.1 point

You can do that before combat, with the entire party. Protective Luck is a standard action, cackle is a move action. Just keep cackling and it will never fall off, once all your party members sans Ember has it you can cackle twice a round for... two more rounds duration per round spent cackling. Yes, yes, yes. This should be done with Fortune and Protective Luck until you have enough time on the buffs for the entire area.1 point

You are not alone! I encountered this problem tonight. I was also at upper yard fighting a moth, after I respawned, I found everthing I equipped was gone. Weapon, head, body, leg and trinket. Im ok to spend some time to build another set of weapon or armor. The problem is trinket. I equipped right elf charm at that moment. I really really really want to get my trinket back. One more thing to add, my bag was full when I died. Not sure whether this was the root cause.1 point

In the Winter War political merit was more important than knowledge about warfare for soviets, which lead soviets to use bad strategies (for example mass assault to strongest Finnish positions over frozen lake, leading thousands men to drown after soviet forces were hit by Finnish artillery that broke the ice), and they didn't use combined arms until end of the war when they changed leadership to people who actually had know how about wars and how different forces should be used. And Soviets weren't prepared to long campaign in record cold winter. As soviets send their divisions from Black Sea area that had fought victoriously in Romania. Those divisions didn't have any experience of fighting in winter and they didn't even have winter clothing. And someone in soviet army had brilliant idea that soldiers can warm themselves by drinking vodka. Finland ended up to lose after winter ended and soviets started to combine their arms in their attacks (meaning that air planes, artillery, tanks and infantry attacked in same time instead of taking turns) and Finnish forces run out of ammunition and other supplies as promised help from France and UK never arrived. But to the point Russia has forces that are more than capable to fight in winter and snow, most of those forces are from divisions that have been situated to garrisons close to Finland's border. Like arctic brigade in Alakurtti (as name gives away the area was part of Finland before WWII) and northern fleet in Severomorsk (close to Murmansk). In Ukraine war, winter probably will not play big role as Ukraine fights in its own territory and is familiar with weather there. Russians forces have lots of people who are familiar with weather of territories they are currently fighting in. Most significant thing that winter may bring is frozen swamps and fields maneuvers they make possible, which can give new advantages for both sides.1 point

Polls in Brazil are always wrong. Dilma was supposed to win for senator in 2018. She ended up in the third position and was not elected (the first two were elected). In 2014 the difference for president ended up being much smaller than what the polls said. It was a surprise. And there were other cases too. By now it should be expected, but who wants to think about Bolsonaro having more votes than what the polls show? I bet the difference will be smaller than 14 points, very likely less than 10 points. The article below talks about higher abstention rates for Lula. Maybe poorer people have less motivation to go vote and most of them vote for Lula. I also have the impression that many Brazilians don't make up their minds until a few days before the election (or maybe even until the election day) which would not be accounted for by the polls. And there are also people who are ashamed to reveal that they are voting for a candidate. These will be more common among Bolsonaro's voters. Give it to conservatives, and the entire cake will be gone and only crumbs left over. Give it to (extreme) right-wing demagogues, and even the box goes missing. *Means our social democratic party, not socialists in the sense most of you people take it. And a joke: Ron De Santis, an American and a Mexican are sitting at a table. They're brought ten cookies. If you use Eviee as a pet (which is good for FF anyway) you can skip Wild Orlan and go Hearth Orlan for a bit more hit-to-crit chance or human for extra accuracy on bloodied. Another good weapon on a shadowdancer is Stalker's Patience. Persistent distraction automatically triggers the flanking condition for Ambushing which gives another +10% damage increasing with stealth. Mercy strike also has nice synergy with SF/HBD chains. It's not as game-breaking (in the literal sense) as Mohorā Taga but is less likely to crash your game . I am not sure if the Wounding enchantment is a separate roll - I don't think it is but the DoT should still get extended by FF. Come to think of it, does anyone know if the Wounding DoT benefits from Sneak Attack / Death Blows? If so it might double benefit from those (as it is based on base attack damage so gets the benefit of SA/DB there, and then the DoT gets a further SA/DB boost?). I really like spears on shadowdancers. With the modal + Tutilo's Palm + Persistent Distraction you get three engagement slots which is great with Rymgard's Repulsive Visage and Parting Sorrow. The Spear Modal malus is pretty negligible if you only activate it when surrounded, and if you are lazy you can just take Fast Runner and Long Stride to offset the movement penalty. EDIT: It didn't occur to me earlier but I also really like the role-playing aspect of a Forbidden Fist monk addicted to Mohorā wraps using Mohorā Tanga as a weapon...1 point

So, True Love Kiss doesnt work with Melee things (Backstab, Deatblows etc). Maybe the fluctuation you get was from Human Spirit? For Xoti's Sickles, with rogue MC it is possible to reach 27 (28 for Druid-Rogue) Religion. The damage bonus is +74% (+76% at 28 religion) : This is a bigger thing than Great Sword modal + Two Handed Weapon (+30 and +15%) for these effects!1 point

Looks good. I like that you use Iron Wheel + Enlightened Agony. It's a nice combo and yet few do it. If you pick Swift Flurry/HBD and use Mohora Taga (unique spear from Cignath Mor) you'll have a double synergy: the DoT ticks of the "Red Flag Flying" enchantment raise with Sneak Attack and even Deathblows (automatically unlocked by Persistent Distraction) - same as the ticks of Gouging Strike, Ring the Bell, Toxic Strike and Arterial Strike. Those all don't stack with themselves but with each other, melting even highest AR foes with ease. At the same time Red Flag Flying, as a weapon attack roll itself, can proc both Swift Flurry/HBD which in turn proc an additional attack of the spear with again the Red Flag Flying on it and so on. It snowballs quickly... It is one of the best weapons to induce a deadly crit chain, maybe the best. At the same time Enfeebled makes sure the DoTs stay on the target way longer. You'll have alternative dmg to crush (fists/FF ability), too and the modal's +1 engagement can be useful for a tankish char (also see Persistent Distraction and Parted Sorrow's wound generation). A bash with Tuotilo's Palm can also proc Swift Flurry/HBD - which will proc main hand attacks! Also the enchantment of Tuotilo's Palm that retaliates can proc SF/HBD, but I still fine the alternative +defense enchantment better. That way you may create a very potent boss melter, mob crit chainer and also great defender. PS: Ring the Bell works the same with dual wielding (Tuotilo's) as with a single one handed weapon. You'll get two chances of DoT appliance, indeed.1 point

too be fair, and as we mentioned in our most recent post, there is nothing 'bout five levels of mutagen warrior for arue which requires you to take snapshot feats. snapshot is great for an archer riding a trip capable beast 'cause on the enemy suffering a trip from your dog/wolf/whatever, and then the attempted rise from prone, your archer gets attackS o' opportunity. eventual you get similar attacks o' opportunity when any nearby trip or critical hit from a party member occurs. such an archer build can be devastating and hilarious. the thing is, typical your archer is sitting back with ember and nenio, yes? part o' the point o' archers is you are able to, from range, w/o wasting a move action, hit with a full attack the enemy casters and archers who may be behind melee attackers, or spread out elsewhere 'cross the map. move into snapshot range is kinda a niche thing for an unmounted archer and is more difficult to routine pull off the trick than it might appear from a mere description o' feats and powhaz. however, if you like the initial boost mutagen provides, and you discover using instant enemy and ranger bond is unnecessarily cumbersome, then is no reason to abandon mutagen 'cause of a fear o' needing be a melee range archer. simple choose other feats. is plenty o' other valuable archer kinda feats. am genuine kinda mystified by the horse experience you suffer. horsies is ordinarily pretty capable tanks. maybe not as viable as a leopard or the complete unnecessary scaled fist/nature mystery sorc nonsense, but at least as good as camellia. what ac are you able to generate with her ambulatory bag o' alpo? aside, by now you got access to displacement, improved invisibility, and blur. don't underestimate the value o' such spells. sure, some higher level demons got true seeing, and that will be an increasingly common attribute, but many do not, particular the trash mobs. displacement results in a 50% miss chance. is no save involved or spell resistance check. if the enemy you face don't have true seeing, scent, echolocation or the like, their targeted attacks is gonna mis half the time. outta curiosity, what archetype is your seelah's horse using? both daredevil and bulwark are decent choices, though am admitting we rare use bulwark. HA Good Fun! ps(edit) is ez to overlook the big game gloves which @Gorthalready possesses but likely doesn't get too much use from, becomes ridiculous op once you get improved quarry. seriously, the free action aspect means every arue target is gonna have the quarry effect applied as well as the big game gloves debuff. is an additional -2 to foe ac plus sickened... no save1 point

I think your plan looks good. Maxing PER and RES is what you will need. STR and CON can be 10. I usually have INT for a FF shadow dancer around 15, which is all you will need, given turning wheel. Even though INT will eventually be high, with high RES and clarity of agony you can keep the FF curse very short and use it frequently. I would add crippling blows (no need for the upgrade) and Confounding Blind (although you'll want Gouging Strike if you go solo). Escape is also nice for mobility. Those are all of the rogue actives I would take, along with Toxic Strike, which you definitely want, since it's devastating when prolonged by enfeebled. It would definitely be viable solo, although then you'd also want smoke veil to escape battle when necessary.1 point

Persona (1966). A lot of the time, I pick out movies that that seem interesting to me that I don't actually try until months or years later, by which time I have no idea what originally made me interested in them or what their premise was, and I just start it blindly. This can be great because I don't have much of an idea of what to expect and therefore not much in the way of pre-conceived notions, which I think is often very valuable in movie-going experiences when you're not simply watching more of what you normally watch...other times, this is not so great because I don't have any context for what I'm seeing when it seems like having it would be very helpful. Within the first few minutes of this film starting, I saw at least a few different things that I can remember now that told me I was probably going to be in for a bad time: 1. A hand very graphically having a nail hammered through it. 2. A mutilated and decapitated lamb's head being drained of its blood. 3. What looked to be major organs being ripped out of some kind of creature. Suffice to say, it was not the most comfortable first five minutes of a film that I've seen. I have not seen a picture directed by Ingmar Bergman before, but that's certainly a way to be introduced to a filmmaker. Anyways, the movie is about a young nurse who has been charged with caring for an actress who's been thrown into the loonie bin - on account of having suddenly lost it and gone full antipathy and mute. As for me...well, I don't do plays, and this largely feels like a play. The kind of play where everyone kind of sounds and acts like aliens from another planet in that sort of unnaturally stilted way. That said...it started taking a turn about halfway through that made it a little more interesting and engaging for me, so at least it had that; better to end on a (relative) high note and with something to think about. Still, not really my cup of tea. (e): I see that the "themes and interpretations" section on Wikipedia is a bit of a hoot.1 point

Also, some DoT from weapon work also with Backstab : Red Flag Flying, Poison Dipped, Hounding and Wounding (the same DoT that work with Swift Flurry) : I striked (crit) with Taste of the Hunt on a Mahora Tanga attack, and the tick damages was : 13 (Red Flag)- 30 (TotH). Just a draft of a Sacred Immolation rework in order to align Pulse Duration and self damages duration. It is a common plan with @MaxQuest This change is quite technical, both rule-wise and implementation-wise. Sacred Immolation effects each follow different rules : - Sacred Immolation damage is a Pulse effect. Pulse effects do benefit from INT but not from PL. - The self damages is an Hostile effect. It does "benefit" from INT and PL and is reduced by RES. - Sacred Sacrifice self-rez. It does "benefit" from INT and PL and is not reduced by RES. This one can be extended by SoT. => This somehow causes Sacred Sacrifice self damages to work the same way due to a bug (corrected by current BPM version) The idea from this file is to align all durations. This requires coding them as sub-effects of a "master" beneficial effect. As a side effect Sacred Immolation now does benefit from INT and PL, is not reduced by RES and can be extended by SoT. The duration can be significantly higher than before (~21s with my SC Paladin with Axe of Magran) especially because you do get an "ultimate tick" when the spell ellapse (even if previous tick was like 0.1s before it ellapses). It might require a little duration tuning. EDIT : or not. Scaling from PL for damages is a buff (and not much for MC Paladin), but self damages not reduced by RES is a nerf. Overall it's pretty equivalent. But overall it feels quite clean. EDIT : New version, now includes upgrade. I'm going to further tweak Sacred Sacrifice for other reasons, but the new version below is the closest from vanilla game. Notes : - This file is for now only about Sacred Immolation itself. I want to stabilize it before adding the upgrades. - Sacred Immolation is disabled when active. In vanilla game, Sacred Immolation is disabled when the self damages is active, which allows recasting it when already active with RES duration reduction of the self damages part. This isn't possible anymore. Sacred Immolation will be re-activable as soon as all its effects stop, and not sooner. - Tested Voiward damage reduction : OK - Being knocked down stop the effects as before. - Because of display issue, I had to code a dummy AoE attack for targetting (that also carries the cast/recovery time) and a display Status. Divine Immolation will probably require a secondary dummy AoE for targetting allies. - As it is a draft file, I didn't include previous BPM change 4->2 Zeal and/or CP change AoE 2.5->3.5m. For now it is as close as possible from vanilla. Sacred Immo.zip1 point

The Infinity Engine games all used a very different art style for their loading screens. Baldur's Gate had lovely black on parchment drawings of adventurers in the wilderness. One of these drawings in particular looks so much like a shot from Lord of the Rings (which would be released a few years later). Baldur's Gate 2 mostly had the game logo with a loading bar around it, which changed sometimes based on location This style of loading screen is definitely cheaper to produce than the BG method, but just not as cool. Icewind Dale had some incredible load screens as well. They look to be the original 3D scene in SoftImage (which is what I think they used back then). This one has some IRL sky photoshopped to the back. I believe Planescape Torment also used this method (to some extent). I'm not sure if these are expensive to produce or not, but they looked cool. Icewind Dale 2 also loaded up on the artwork, with some 2D art. What loading screen style would you prefer to see in Pillars of Eternity? Personally I think the Baldur's Gate style would be really cool, but that's being used for Scripted Interactions anyway, so it might be a bit superfluous. But having a different load screen for every major location in the game would be sweet.1 point
-
Though I did like the typical party hiking across the Swordcoast in BG I think you're right that this may clash with the scripted interactions, thus i'd prefer to see concept art of the pertinent area from a different angle, it might make a nice change from the isometric perspective it's usually presented in. Edit: That said i'm fine with fairly much anything, unlike the majority I do not have a pathological hatred of loading screens, in fact I quite like the respite. Perhaps impressionistic watercolours of the areas we are seeing might be nice, they were quite evocative in the first Witcher.1 point
