Spark the Souls of the Righteous is not only brilliant with the Least Unstable Coil or Effort+Avenging Storm for the Priest himself, this spell can generate an untouchable point of damaging pulsation. The effect (extendable because beneficial) continue to pulse even when the beneficial target (party or the priest) is isolated with Withdraw or Temporal Cocoon. Invisible, untargetable, damage dealer. With Beetle Shell, the allie is unvulnerable during the effect until the shell break, and he stay able to receive friendly effect ; the Spark the Souls of the Righteous effect also work well, like riposte effect etc. We cant target every summon with the spell, barbaric totems sadly cant be targeted by the spell (but by Withdraw).4 points

Minoletta's spells work very well with combusting wounds, the number of missile are scaling pretty well with PL. Beam spells (Ninagauth's Bitter Mooring and Ray of Fire for wizard) are great too, they damage anyone in the path each 1s, with 1 wounds by damaging hit roll. Wall are fine too it's right. A cipher-wizard can be really efficient damage dealer with this spell by the way. There are some others good combo with Combusting wounds with the other party members, like AoE attack with AoE weapon / multiple projectiles weapon / AoE effect from the weapon. For exemple, Clear Out (fighter) with Keeper of the Flame (burn damages AoE) can give +5 or even more wounds . This spell can really profite too to a SC Priest, I like when there are some enemies close to some of my chars under the effect of Spark the Souls of the Righteous. With combusting wounds on top, it is "passively" crazy.3 points

With the Crimson Panoply with Uncontrolled Rage on the Priest, enemies will die like in an horror movie with the team as spectators...2 points

I overall lukewarm enjoy Ubisoft games. I haven't played a Far Cry game in quite a while. Since 5 is on Game Pass, I may give it a go at some point. AssCreed is decent enough, but I only really liked Black Flag and Rogue and that's mostly for the sailing, hence my interest in Skull & Bones, despite the trepidations I have (live service model & lack of solo campaign). AssCreed games always take a giant nosedive whenever they go outside the Animus and into present day IMHO. I haven't played one since the reboot on account of the reported added grind. I played Watch_Dogs briefly, but that game quickly lost me due to wonky driving physics and how much of a black hole of charisma Aidan was. Watch_Dogs 2, on the other hand, was a game I thoroughly enjoyed, largely due to how likable Marcus and the other DedSec hacker were. I legit wanted to do right by those wacky miscreants. It's amazing how far a likable protagonist(s) can take you.2 points

yeah this is a change from poe1. no more sneak attack bonus damage from a rogue with spark the souls anymore but it means priest can empower spark the souls and everyone gets a super charged zapper.1 point

The (more demanding/newer) stuff I play it's mostly 50-70fps w/the 2080ti, which to me is perfectly playable, but I'd like the lower number to be more like 80+ for headroom and all of that. The way I'm going re: gaming, I could probably wait until the 50xx and it'll be even better. But that might require a PSU connected directly to the sun or something.1 point

Correct me if I'm wrong, but are attacks from StSotR not counted as attacks from the character who benefits from it (who emits the sparks)? That would mean Shadowed Hunters would get canceled with the first spark - and Blood Frenzy on the Priest wouldn't actually do anything? Or does StSotR not work like that in Deadfire (it did in PoE and although I used it in Deadfire I never did test its behaviour a lot).1 point

Lately I keep thinking about the future and how the next 20 or so years might look like. Truth told, what has me worried the most is the developments in america. Everything over there becomes more fascist for years already, and americans don't even realize it, because they are so indoctrinated. It's like this frog in boiling water thing. Police becomes more military every day, right wingers successfully plant their judges and stuff everywhere, important human rights laws get overturned and disbanded, the gun violence, the tv channels that spew lies and propaganda without a break and it just feels like nothing can be done against any of this. It's too late. Really not looking forward to sit next to a right wing fascist bully with the strongest military in the world.1 point

Has anyone tried a party of 4 SC rangers and a priest? Priest casts Spark the Souls on the party, then Withdraw on themselves. Rangers all cast Shadowed Hunters, then walk around invisible and untargetable with their animal companions, triggering their 8 stacks of Sparks on everything nearby. Enemies have nothing to target and can only watch as they all die1 point

That may be a purposeful nod, given how much DNA DMC and Bayonetta share.1 point

After arrest in rape of 10-year-old girl, Fox News hosts shift focus Some of Fox’s most high-profile hosts — Tucker Carlson, Jesse Watters, Laura Ingraham — suggested this week that the account of the 10-year-old rape victim was a “hoax” and “politically timed disinformation,” and claimed that the Biden administration was “lying” about the case after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. ... Later on Wednesday, Carlson and Ingraham shifted their attention to Fuentes and his uncertain citizenship status. The hosts featured chyrons on their shows saying that the 10-year-old girl “in Biden’s abortion story” was raped by an “illegal immigrant.” Assistant Franklin County prosecutor Dan Meyer said during Wednesday’s hearing that he believes Fuentes, 27, is undocumented, according to video of the arraignment. ... the thing is, as we mentioned earlier in the thread, the hypothetical thirteen-year-old rape victim were specific addressed by ohio legislators previous to their new rape ban being made law. deflection and evasion is such a common tactic these days. Ohio bill would ban abortion without rape exemption Democrats were ready to ask questions, with most of them coming from Reps. Richard Brown (D-Canal Winchester), Dr. Beth Liston (D-Dublin) and Tavia Galonski (D-Akron). However, Majority Floor Leader Rep. Bill Seitz (R-Cincinnati) jumped in. The intense back and forth between Brown and Schmidt revolved around the lack of exemptions for rape and incest. “So under this bill, if a 13-year-old girl, let’s say, was raped by a serial rapist, broke into her house, or maybe more likely raped by a family member, which occurs frequently — unfortunately, this bill would require this 13-year-old to carry this felons fetus to term, regardless of any emotional or psychological damage or trauma that may be inflicted upon this 13-year-old girl to deliver this, felons a fetus. Is that right?” he asked. Schmidt responded and said that rape is a difficult issue. “It’s a shame that it happens, but there’s an opportunity for that woman, no matter how young or old she is,” she said. The opportunity — which would be the only option — is to deliver that baby. “She can choose to raise the child, she can choose to give that child to a loving family member or to give it to someone else — and that child can grow up and be something magnificent, a wonderful family person, cure cancer,” she said. “Just because you have emotional scars doesn’t give you the right, right to take the life.” Brown followed up. “You earlier said every life is important — the life of a 13-year-old girl in my hypothetical is important,” he added. He then brings up the pregnant juvenile going to middle school, saying that kids are “mean, they’re evil and they’re going to say all kinds of bad things to their classmate about her condition.” “I think this girl has rights every bit as much as the zygote that has rights under your bill,” he said. “This girl has rights, and I don’t believe we can lose sight of the rights of the person who was raped.” Supporters of the bill, like Ohio Right to Life, say just because someone commits a crime, doesn’t mean we should have the right to “purposely” end a life. “They can live a dignified life that shows them that they can overcome certain circumstances,” Elizabeth Whitmarsh, a spokesperson for the organization, said. “That might seem impossible in the moment, but they’re able to get through it.” ... not shocking. not unforeseen. however, am gonna suggest that caitlin bernard should not have mentioned the incident and most definite were mistaken in speaking to a newspaper 'bout a ten-year-old rape victim from ohio. the doctor, in spite o' having good intentions and recognizing that she did not release specific patient info, knew or shoulda' known that the girl's identity would be discovered once bernard made her story public. innuendo has the capacity to make statements tortious or illegal even if the speaker does not explicit reveal the identity o' an individual. bernard quite possible has added to the victim's nightmare by making the child's rape a matter o' public interest. but again, the ohio gop were okie dokie with thirteen-year-old victims o' incestous rape being unable to obtain an abortion in ohio, so their indignation and deflection today is hardly convincing. "Just because you have emotional scars doesn’t give you the right, right to take the life." at least the gop authors o' the rape ban were being honest 'bout the absolutist position.1 point

The idea still needs a little massaging. Best case scenario is the doors close before the perp enters the building, failing that the doors could seal them into one hallway / classroom, minimizing the potential damage? Im just spitballing here but maybe even flood the area with a disabling gas too? You could have stopped here. Its the future.1 point

Is it just me or is this trailer really oddly assembled? Like they just slapped a couple random sequences together?1 point

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (1984). The titular character feels better integrated with her world and community within the first fifteen minutes of this film than Ashitaka ever does throughout the entirety of Princess Mononoke, giving her (and us) a reason to actually care about the ensuing events, and really, that's all that needs to be said...but I'll say more, both positive and negative. While she and Ashitaka may both be Mary Sues that basically never have incorrect impulses or decisions, she at least doesn't always perfectly succeed at what she intends to do, and nor are there ego-stroking sequences where she clearly goes beyond what is reasonable or possible (think Ashitaka disarming and knocking out both Lady Eboshi and San in the middle of their battle in the most "I am the shonen protagonist" way possible, followed by him getting shot in the chest and continuing to carry San to safety with barely a stumble, then with him lifting up a million pound gate with one hand even while losing gallons of blood, concluding with him finally collapsing only after he and San are safe so that she can take care of him...it's all so incredibly eye-rollingly male, it just about makes me want to puke). Nausicaa also doesn't say stuff or express herself in a way that makes me think she's an alien like Ashitaka frequently did...not to mention actually having somewhat of a personality, which he critically lacked (probably deliberately in order to make him a better viewer stand-in, but even if that's the case, I still did not like it). Nausicaa is rougher around the edges: the animation is a little more inconsistent (and to me, not as appealing for the most part even if it's still great), the sound design is more crude by far, the silly tiger-lemur thing shouldn't have been in the film because it adds very little to it or Nausicaa herself (actually, it probably takes away from Nausicaa because she's already shown to have a knack for communicating with animals by that point, so adding on even more by having her instantly tame the little bugger was a bit too much, particularly when it kind of just stuck around pointlessly), the film feels just a little lackadaisical and/or off-kilter at times (it's made in the 80s...), and really, Princess Mononoke seems like the tighter and more focused film in general...but Nausicaa and how the movie directs itself around her isn't the rotten apple that spoils the entire thing, so let me once again make it very clear that I value characters above literally everything else by saying that Nausicaa handily wins the comparison against Princess Mononoke almost entirely because of that, . Now if for some reason that doesn't matter to you (or if you can accept and/or identify with Ashitaka for what he is, which presumably a large percentage of people are able to do considering that he was clearly designed to be a viewer stand-in even as unfortunately male-coded as he and the movie are...on top of lacking any kind of personal perspective to give him some kind of cause or motivation for anything), then I can understand liking Princess Mononoke more. It's a shame too, because I like the setting, a lot of the themes, and the ideas of characters in Princess Mononoke, but...I've watched Princess Mononoke three times now, and it just doesn't come together for me; Nausicaa may start off slow, but it does.1 point

Just finished Ms Marvel. The show took a couple episodes to really get going for me, but once it did I thoroughly enjoyed it. Some obvious nods to Kamala's original powers from the comic book that might make those who are annoyed about the change of powers slightly less annoyed. The finale in particular was quite strong, IMO. I'm not entirely the target demographic, (except that I'm in the demographic of 'unabashed MCU fan who will watch absolutely anything and everything they release connected to it for the rest of my life') so younger fans, and fans from Asian immigrant backgrounds, might get even more out of it than I did.1 point

A brief training course is indeed no substitute for a combination of theory (how it's supposed to work) and practical exercises in the field (how it really works). Just thinking back to my own civil defense training. The theory was all nice and well, but getting chased out at 4am, sent into the dark and rescue 80kg dummies, that had to be carried out (tied to stretchers) from subterranean sewer tunnels with no light can not be explained in a class room by an instructor. Although I only ever got to use the fire fighting training and first aid training a few times in "real life" in the following decades. It was still nice to have done extensive hands on training. Edit: I'm sure the instructors had a blast, literally, on those training sessions, lobbing generous quantities of flash bang and smoke grenades everywhere to improve the immersion (it was supposed to be war after all) Edit2: Which is my anecdotal way of saying the amount and the nature of training matters.1 point

agreed, which is why the following is so weird: having seen other unspecified police fails, not involving same cops, he makes an educated assumption that the uvalde guys is cowards? dude. might as well finish the response to @Sarex so first you complain 'bout Gromnir assumptions and then immediate make an assumption based on past bad acts of cops not the uvalde cowards. *chuckle* then you make a strawman argument. *eye roll* advice: never start with, "what you are saying," 'cause looks like you cannot be trusted to then describe what were said. we has explained many times how US police literal cannot be standardized (training, hiring standards, etc.) save through organic homogenization. state police power is literal off limits to the fed. unconstitutional. nevertheless, we didn't blame uvalde on systemic problems and keep in mind we never even conceded your point 'bout cowardice so... fail again? am not certain where the fail at uvalde were other than our belief, based on the admitted lack o' an explanation, that the delay o' law enforcement to enter the classroom where the shooter had retreated were excessive. seems like a fail further up the food chain than individual cops on the scene, but again, am admitting working on a lack o' info 'cause law enforcement still hasn't provided an explanation. btw, we purpose stopped quoting you where you admitted you don't know what cop job is 'cause we specific addressed what cop duty most certainly is not in the post you got nothing from save a spelling correction. "protect the public order" is a decent enough identification o' the duty in question, but as already stated, that don't carry with it any duty owed to any specific individual. the cop has a duty to the community, but like it or not, she don't have a duty to save or protect any individual even if the need is obvious and the cop is capable o' rendering the necessary aid. is no duty to "charge in" just 'cause people is in danger. so, add basic reading fail too. nevertheless we got you to at least concede you were in fact asking cops to hurl themselves into the breach and that failure to do so amounted to cowardice. baby steps. Fair enough but you must give Odyssey a go, its got creatures from Greek mythology you can fight, like the Minotaur and Cyclops, and fun naval battles which changes the repetitive nature of Ubisoft design1 point

given the recent overturn o' roe v. wade, we were considering which SCOTUS decisions were worst from our pov. is a disturbing number to choose from, however, near the top o' our list is the twin cases o' schenck v. united states and debbs v. united states. am not discussing the law of either case, but we recollected bernie sanders did a documentary o' eugene debbs and even read a number o' debbs speeches, including the one which sent the socialist firebrand to prison. am knowing is more than a few bernie bros on these boards and we thought we would share the linked video. aside, SCOTUS upheld the debbs conviction 9-0. sentence were ten years but President warren harding would commute debbs sentence in 1921, two years after debbs were imprisoned.
