  1. She is 19, she is from Doneck Oblast, and city close to Kramatorsk. Pretty close to People's Republic "borders". Their city is pretty safe so far, but according to current army movement, it looks like, that will change sooner or later . She studied acting in Kyiv, and she managed to travel by bus from Kyiv to Chop and then by railways to my homecity, where a guy from Mariupol living here introduced her to us. And the situation in Mariupol seen from the videos, which the guy showed us, it looked even worse, than from the news reporting... Especially, when he said "On this street, I was walking almost every day. Do you see this window with a flames lashing out of the window? It is my good friend's apartment, where I was visiting him often"...

  2. Well, unless you get in on the "party" in Ukraine and get yourself killed like a proper Viking, you're likely headed for Niflhel together with 99.99% of Scandinavians, a place which the name suggests is likely neither sunny or warm.

  5. Yeah, it was one big conspiracy by the army top brass to quickly take control of the country in the streets and behead the democratic government so a military junta government could be presented as a fait accompli before civil authorities could react. There's very good reason to believe that our emeritus king (yeah, that's a thing here, wonder why) was involved and meant to appear in congress to add a veneer of legitimacy to the coup. For whatever reason -theories abound- he switched sides and condemned the coup at the 11th hour, leaving Milans and the fools at congress high and dry. His support was required because he had been designated head of state by Franco and thus was perceived to carry on with the latter's authority in military circles. Without his endorsement the coup quickly collapsed. Interestingly, while things generally ran very well under Franco (except a free press and, er, elections) in the early days of democracy, political parties in congress actually got a lot of important **** done. There were protests and a degree of instability, but nothing qualitatively worse than what we see today, with blatant executive overreaches, rampant corruption, crippling strikes, etc. against a background of constant warnings of imminent fascist/communist takeover.

  6. Yeah, I had the chance to test the new Backstab and Assassinate a bit and so far it works like a charm. You suddenly have significantly more options, such as chaining two spells at the beginning of combat from stealth. Full-Attacks work great, especially since the off-hand will have only a reduced backstab bonus in many occasions. Arquebus as an assassins weapon is still highly competitive since the fast attack allows to follow up with a fast spell. I've tried a couple of AoE or multi-hit spells but nothing seems to be broken so far, the spells just feel nicely buffed.

  7. I still don't know what the big deal is. Although... Well, okay, that is pretty screwed up, but it's hardly reflected in anime, considering ridiculously-colored hair has been around in anime since...basically forever, . Heck, maybe that's exactly why insane hair colors are so common - artist expression defying cultural norms. Considering that I disliked both Eraserhead and Blue Velvet, I think that means no for me as well. That and you think I wouldn't like it anyways...and the fact that I already tried it and didn't care for it. I had a big "hoo boy" reaction to that guy when he appeared. Then his snake got brutally decapitated and he fell off a ledge and appeared to have died from hitting his head on a small rock. With that wacky character design, thought for sure he was gonna be around for a few episodes, not a few minutes, but okay, fine by me, .

  9. The poster actually appears in the movie itself: Pandora's Box (1929). German silent films are sort of like delving into an alien culture that inexplicably decided to take up film-making. I mean, that might be all silent films, but I've only seen two, and they were both German, so obviously I can only generalize about the German ones. Anyways, from what I could tell, the gist of the movie is that women, especially those of a certain variety, are the root of all evil in the world. What particular variety of women would that be? Well...I'll let you, the viewer that did not watch the film, guess.

  10. Hi! For anyone who still plays Deadfire in 2022, I've uploaded a mod to Steam that adds 3 new unique weapons to the game. (The mod adds a shield, a club, and a rod.) The weapons are meant to be balanced, not OP, and they each have lore-friendly descriptions and enchantments. You can find the mod HERE. Feel free to let me know what you think. Enjoy!

  12. The camera is my biggest complaint. You can change the angle from directly overhead to 45⁰ and anything in between and rotate freely, plus there are 3 zoom levels. It works perfectly fine in open outdoor areas, but when you get into tighter areas, buildings, and so on, walls, ceilings, and foliage don't turn transparent soon enough, often times leaving your vision completely obstructed for a few seconds. I can work around it, but it is annoying and some tweaks could go a long way to making it less frustrating.

  13. Personally I actually agreed to the deal -- the job that followed I finished in true Thief style, I think the first time in the game I ever went someplace without getting spotted neither going in nor out. But also later found that in true genre style, it wasn't a necessity, and that there were alternatives, such as the one you mentioned. I staid up all night, pretty much because of the game. Hasn't happened in a while. While they should fine-tune AI as well as camera post-release, there also seems one glaring balancing oversight (which I've first seen brought up by somebody else). Dishonored had its mana pool you needed to activate abilities. Here it's simple action points. In both cases, to a degree, they auto-regenerate (which also meant in Dishonored, that you could "blink" as often as you wanted.) The maximum action points pool is 20. The auto-regeneration fills it up to 5 again, over the course of about 15 seconds. To regain full action points, you need a potion (or sleep). For most abilities, this is naturally a bit of the burden it should be. 15 seconds would be a lot if you're say engaged directly in combat and thus had to wait until the points have recovered. HOwever, not so for instance the rifle's "sentry silencer" ability. Activating it costs 5 AP. Your next shot will not merely be silenced, but cause significantly bonus damage to an enemy. Rifles have decent range. Basically, it's a bit of a sniper thing. Coupled with hiding someplace or camping on a roof, this means time is never much of a factor. You can just camp in your hiding spot and wait for the action point pool to rise up to 5 AP again, and spam this quite powerul ability. Taking out entire enemy camps easily one by one. In their official feature request boards, I've already raised this. If you agree please upvote. On/off option for auto-regenerating action points - Weird West (featureupvote.com)

  15. The trail led me to a tobacco tycoon. Big money like this usually comes with dirty hands, but he had information I was needin'. The fat cat tried to strike a deal with me. He was wantin' what someone else was havin' and that someone else didn't much want to give it to im. Didn't need to be no fancy head doctor to see I was dealin' with a feller slimier than a yellow-bellied toad. Told im I'd think over his proposition but I wasn't keen on shaking hands with the devil, and that's even if he intended to ever honor his end of the bargain. I chose to find a, shall we say, alternative way to get the information that I needed. Now, I don't take pride in pilfering through another man's property, but given the nature of the feller in question and the things that I found, I don't feel the least bit bad violating his privacy. I got what I needed and I got scarce.

  16. But the bottom line still remains, if it is the case that the Ukrainians did it, so what? Russia can attack and systematically destroy Ukraine, but Ukraine is not allowed to strike back at Russian territory?

  18. Today, I was so unlucky to find some reports from E40 Highway, and town of Bucha, not gonna link it, but feel free to search for it on Google and youtube. And then tell me again with a straight face, that Russians are trying to avoid civilian casualties, and are not doing it deliberately as a part of their tactics... As an example, in Bucha, Ukrainian Territorial Defenses found a yard with a lot civilian remains, with tied hands behind their backs which were shot. On E40, the short walk of the news reporter showed 11 burned civilian cars and close to them burned remains of civilians with at least one child, all hidden under pile of tires and plastic sheets... These cars were shot with Tank hidden in the trench near the road.

  19. No further progress - I am a fickle god. I did watch another episode of Princess Tutu, though. I still don't have concrete feelings about it...hopefully I will by the end of the first 13 episodes. As for Dilandau, stuff I have at least tried that I might recognize her from: major Ranma 1/2 character (Nabiki Tendo), the protagonist of Starship Girl Yamamoto Yohko, and the protagonist of Kiki's Delivery Service. She's also apparently Nataku and Kasumizuki from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, whomever they are. And yes, I am glad that the show doesn't do the whole DBZ or Naruto or Yu Yu Hakusho or other shonen thing with pointlessly wasting our time with silly non-essential and time-wasty fighting. @KP wants Blue Velvet Yeah, I am very particular about the kind of surrealism that I like. Well, I am very particular about the [everything] that I like, but yes. I have a pretty ridiculous list of shows that I am supposed to watch as it is, anyways, so I don't really need to use time on something that almost definitely did not seem to be for me. (e): Okay, I lied, I've watched up to 10 now.

  20. As long as everyone keeps talking honestly and clearly to the construction guy, it should all work out in the end... It might look a little different to how you imagined it when you started, but it's a glorious journey to get there...

  21. You've got quite a pace there by the way, which episode are you at now? Anyway, do you also get a nagging feeling that you've heard Dilandau's voice before, then you go look at Minami Takayama's list of works and find out that, nope, you haven't? Because I can't shake the feeling that I've heard that yelling inside a mech before, but I just didn't. The amount of shows with mechs I've seen is fairly limited too, so that can't possibly be it.

What an amazing offer from you and your wife, I know most of us cant do this type of act of humanity because their are real issues like free space in our homes and costs Where is the refugee from, what age and have they spoken to you about how they left Ukraine? 26. I wouldn't say that it's quite like a Lynch movie, but several episodes go into surreal dream(like) territory that probably evokes a similar response. I liked it because I am a ****ing weird guy who digs **** like that, but it definitely isn't everyone's cup of tea. Besides, it's post-90s which you have consistently disliked besides Samurai Champloo. I dunno, I think Berserk (90s) is the only thing I'd recommend to you, with the caveat it has a lot of violent and sexual stuff, much of the sexual stuff being violent to boot. The manga is even more extreme in that regard, and while very good is some heavy ****.

  27. Hah, for crying out loud, the words Into Darkness were actually part of the dialogue… Now Picard is planning an Oceans 11 plot to attend a party he was not invited to. Yeah. Well, they are not going to steal anything so it is more like a Mission Impossible thing I guess. Agnes attended the Ancient Coding (actual dialogue) class back home and they are going to send her in to Hack the Planet… I mean get them on the invite list.

  28. @Malcador Lavrov or Peskov or MoD have released official statement two or three weeks ago, that Ukrainian air force has been destroyed IIRC. @BruceVC Me and my wife have taken one Ukrainian refugee to our house, so I am spending less time with my PC now. But I am still trying to read a little bit here and there. An interesting reportage about the "disappearance" of one of the most elite brigades in Russia during Hostomel fights, and how the people are slowly getting the correct information through the extreme news embargo in Russia through Telegram and are confronted with the notion, that state media cannot lie.

  30. Maybe explain to him the meaning of Ides of March too Edit: for those who are not into history, it's a reference to Shakespeare's Julius Caesar where a fortune teller warns Caesar of his impending demise “beware the Ides of March” and then goes and gets himself assassinated in the senate (senators not being happy about the dismantling of The Republic)... during the Ides of March

  31. Weird West first impressions, so far so good. It's a mixture of Fallout 1 & 2, Divinity: Original Sin, and a twin stick shooter. The game is from a new studio with former Arkane devs, including Raphael Colantonio the founder of Arkane. It definitely has that Dishonored quality of letting you be creative in how to approach a situation. I'm playing the game as if it's Desperados. You give me the ability to stealth and I'm going to attempt a ghost run, that's just how I roll. It's a Raphael Colantonio game, a ghost run is likely possible. I did experiment with a decidedly not stealthy approach by sneaking an extinguished lantern to a strategic location, retreating to safe location, firing my revolver to get some outlaws attention and to break the lantern, creating an oil puddle, then hurling dynamite as they ran through the oil. It was super fun blowing a guy up and setting others on fire. Then I reloaded and stealthed the area. You can interact with most things, pick them up and throw them. I can confirm that you pet a horse. I have not found a living dog nor a cat so I cannot confirm whether you can pet them. You can take a $#!+ in an outhouse, though. Edit: Also if you dodge while aiming a gun you go into Max Payne bullet time while in midair, so you can play this game like a John Woo movie if that's your thing. Also, if you kill somebody a vulture will land on the corpse and start eating it. They get there quick too, those scavengers don't **** around.

  32. Thinking about picking up Colantonio's Weird West, which was just released today. Due to it being heavy on choice and consequence, and different experience based on the (albeit predetermined) characters you get to play throughout, it's already been compared to classic Fallout, New Vegas and even Bloodlines by various outlets. One section of the game has you playing a character cursed with a pig head -- which means people react "accordingly" (memories of playing a Nosferatu in Bloodlines). That is, on top of Arkane Studio games, naturally, what with Colantonio being their founder. His last title there was Prey -- if you ask me, whilst never specifically marketed as such, that was more of an RPG than many selfproclaimed RPG in like the last 10, 15 years (in particular in the AAA space). And I'm still not even halfway finished with Wrath Of The Righteous. edit: Bought it. Couldn't resist. Also like to support that guy, he's got the right vision for games.

  33. I really felt like DeS and DS1 were the ideal length. Certainly long enough to be a grand adventure, but not so long that I get halfway through the game before I'm completely exhausted and desperately want it to be over like I did with DS3 and its DLC. Whenever/if I play Elden Ring, I can't see the size of the game feeling good to me.

  36. So I thought I was pretty far in Elden Ring, now I found out there is a huge cavern system underneath the normal world ...... First it was just a big cave with stars on the ceiling, but then I came to another place and then another place and then another place... There's probably so many tiny rooms that I missed because you just can't check everything at once.

  37. Man, Control has me hooked to the SCP Foundation. It's OK. I don't feel shame. This is Pokémon for grown-ups. As for Elden Ring, working on your class is just as addicting as ever. I have a Warrior but I am not sure if I want to invest in the whole 'bleed' build. Looks tempting but certain enemies I prefer engaging from a distance and that's where the incantations come in. I wonder if @Majek is playing Elden Ring. I remember it was fun discussing different builds in Bloodborne with that guy...and now I want to play Bloodborne again!
