In general I agree, a good movie is a good movie regardless of genre. I think my biggest issue with the whole film snob anti-genre attitude is how some of the films they love are equally as ridiculous as some sci-fi schlock or b-movie horror madness. It all seems very arbitrary and lacking self-awareness.2 points

Weird, the film snob circles I know of wouldn't touch a fantasy, sci-fi or horror genre film with a 10-foot pole. FWIW, I thought Pitch Black and Riddick were really good. Chronicles had elements I liked and some I didn't, but killing off all the characters from Pitch Black pointlessly never sat well with me.2 points

Wheel of Time episode 1. To be more accurate maybe 15 minutes of it because I was busy doing other things. It's corny and feels like a CW show with a bigger budget. I don't see any reason to keep up with it.2 points

I've always ranked Terminator and Alien as better than their respective 1st sequels. And boy was that opinion controversial not long ago (not as controversial as disliking Up! and Wall-e was not long after they came out, though - egads people got hostile over that opinion). I don't remember much about the Matrix sequels, but I wasn't over-enamored with the first film.2 points

Grass respawning inside buildings and in close proximity to them is getting very annoying very fast. I know it's a bug, but still. My suggestion is: Why not simply make it so that if the player chops down the last lower stem of the grass (the part that produces plant fiber), the grass will never grow back? That way the players themselves can decide if they want a wast wasteland or keep the lush jungles1 point

You're right, if we're talking about actual film snobs and not the film snobs on the internet, but even that has been changing in recent years. A bit, at least. I was by far and large thinking of online discussions like this one, where the opinion overwhelmingly (in my experience) is that Alien is better than Aliens, Terminator is better than Terminator 2, and the first bad Indiana Jones movie wasn't Crystal Skull but The Last Crusade because it was too comedic and not gritty enough as an adventure film. Yeah, don't look at me. Also, I guess that would be different for a place like the Bioware forums, if they still existed. Not sure though. Never put up my tent there. There's good company down there. Plenty of films I could comment on that would land me back there, I'm sure. Just bring up Fargo... or almost anything by and with Mr. Tarantino. Like, go ahead and ask me what my opinion on Pulp Fiction is. Heh.1 point

Like I said, I had to pause to laugh that one off. I went from "Did I accidentially get a really good looking fan film? Why is this suddenly a stupid action film?" and then it's all Tomoyo forcing Sakura to use Create to make her Sakura fan film. Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return. Part of what made this film better for me than the first one - they just didn't even try to make this something else than a finale for the series. There's no way this film works for anyone who didn't watch the show. Eh, and yes, what a corny ending, but a deserved one. Do that in one self-contained 90 hour movie and I'm very likely to hate it. Here, yeah... I might have grinned like an idiot for a while. Next to the basis of the plot being a so far never mentioned card that's the one thing I... might... want to criticize. Or maybe not, because it really just worked. The movie takes elements that were already present in the show and combines them into something that's hilarious, heartwarming, fun and (almost?) suspenseful for 80 minutes. There's a play (although all of the play episodes were great, so that was probably an easy choice), Tomoyo is joined by Meiling playing the matchmaker, there's the Ferris Wheel and a price to pay in lost emotion at the very end. It's all so well put together that I didn't really care, but if someone would raise it as a downside, I'd have a hard time arguing against it. Did you watch the Kero special? Poor Takashi can't catch a break, can he? No one else even tried. I mean, except for IC who said he watched it earlier than I did and didn't like it, which is fair. Also... *dances happily into the night*1 point

Realizing that some things are simply not for you and not making an instant "THIS IS BAD AND I AM SUPERIOR" judgement call is a pretty important step for civil conversation about media. But that part can be pretty difficult for a lot of people, including even myself at times. The whole feel-good action adventure genre, including your Star Wars and your Indiana Jones, your Goonies, and...whatever else, is probably a genre that's never going to quite fully appeal to me for various reasons, but I still recognize plenty of good things about them and understand why they're so often so many people's favorite movies even when I still don't enjoy them nearly as much as others. I might dunk a lot on some of the...lesser or outright bad entries of those series, but that's because it's just so incredibly easy as they're actually just not very good and there is so much ammo to go around - you won't see me talking much smack about the original Star Wars or Indiana Jones trilogies anytime soon. I also won't ever be making any comments on wrestling, soap operas, comedies, or...plenty of other stuff. Enjoy what you want to enjoy, and I'll try to do the same, excluding a rare inspired foray outside of my comfort zone here and then, which unfortunately sometimes leads to disaster where I am thrown down into the well again, . P.S. Terminator > Terminator 2.1 point

Divine Terror only Frightened, decreased to Shaken, so not the desired effect that you want! But you can use some weapons to inflict similars effects : I think about Last word and Vielpiercer. This one is the perfect bow for two problems : that reduce beneficials effects on hit AND Disruptive arrow disable actives abilities for a few time. Street Sweeper' Out with the Good is cleaning 10s of beneficials effects on hit, and Glacierbane from this DLC suspend them for 6s on crit. It is a minor version of Arcane Dampener, and like for this, suspended effects will resume when the spell is over. If you find the Skaen Effigy's husk, on bloodied that prevent healing for ennemies and I think there is no hit-roll (not sure). Combined to Weakened that can help too. Aloth and Fassina are multiclasses? If they are not, as Wizard they can petrify, downgraded in Paralysed. If Fassina is multiclassed with druid, she have acces to Embrace of the Earth Talon wich petrify also. I have no idea to Enfeebled Necriscylas with your party.1 point

Because this is my first time playing this game, I followed the game recommendation ad selected Edér as a pure Fighter. Most of the builds that I searched use him as a Fighter/Rogue so I thought It would be useful to do a build with him as a single fighter. Leveling: Disciplined Barrage Weapon and Shield + Determination Confident Aim Disciplined Strikes + Bull’s Will Penetrating Strike Vigorous Defense + Weapon Specialization Fearless Fighter Stances + Guardian Stance / Hold the Line* Armored Grace Conqueror Stance + Mob Stance Clear Out Weapon Mastery + Uncanny Luck Unstoppable Snake’s Reflexes Inspire Discipline + Clean Sweep Combat Focus / Bear’s Fortitude Tough Sundering Blow + Prestige Reaping the Whirlwind / Bear’s Fortitude Active Skills: Total combined Alchemy of 10 the remaining into Athletics Passive Skills: Metaphysics and/or Survival Proficiency: Saber, Sword, Club, Spear, Flail, Large Shield Gear: Head: Champion's Helm Neck: Claim and Refusal Armor: Reckless Brigandine with Into the Breach Ring 1: Chameleons Touch / Ring of Clenched Muscle / Ring of Greater Regeneration / Finality’s Claim with Time Dilation III Ring 2: Entonia Signet Ring Feet: Boots of Stone / Pathfinder’s Boots / Rakhan Field Boots / Bounding Boots Waist: The Undying Burden / Blunting Belt Hands: Burglar’s Gloves Cape: Cloak of Greater Protection Trinket: Eye of Rymrgand Weapons: Kapana Taga with Champion’s Relic and Unblockable + Cadhu Scalth with Luminous Harmony Mohara Tanga with Harpooning + Akola’s Apex Ward / Nerian’s Ward with Father’s Masterwork / Mundane Shell Pet: Nalvi How to play: Have someone buff his accuracy if you want him hitting anything until he can access Inspired Discipline. Make him draw all the aggro from the enemy and use the large shield modal to reduce the damage from reflex, after that use your mages AOE spells that opposes reflex to nuke everyone from orbit. *If you have the right equipment and upgrades, you can reach 6 engagements per fight, so if you think the two extras (and the damage reduction) from Guardian Stance aren't needed you can replace it with Hold the Line so you can use other fighter stances.1 point

Sakura's Sealed Hairdo, The Movie. @majestic's been long asking for this, so don't blame me for the length! I was only able to get the English version of this, so that's what I'm watching. I'm sure I'll like it just as much as if I were watching in the Japanese that I watched the entire rest of the show in. Also, screw the spoiler tag, because it's clear nobody else is going to watch this show at this point. Fire dragon, titanium oliphaunt, rockzilla...oh my gosh, lmao, I should've guessed, I really should've. Gosh dang it, Tomoyo: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/lysw9dtbhwuc6qa/0j1WoWIJdK.mp4 No, wait, I take it back, Tomoyo is my favorite character after all! "OH-HAH-YO-OOH!" I'm just waiting for the "kaiju"...and there it is, literally the next line. Now, does this look like the face of a monster? Yeah, yeah, it kind of does. Some fancy dutch angle scene panning when Sakura sensed something strange about the amusement park. ...Oh yeah, it's all coming together - and Meiling is staying the entire week, which should presumably cover the length of this movie. Lmao, she's just destroying Sakura with a million guilt trips...and the arranged dinner date. This is all Tomoyo's fault, of course. Oh look, it actually was, big frickin' surprise. Well, after Xiaolang spilled the sugar and Sakura started stuttering, I paused the show and said to myself "Kero is ONE HUNDRED PERCENT GUARANTEED going to pop out of thin air to yell about something to interrupt this", and literally two seconds after I unpaused it, he did exactly that and I burst out laughing. It's all so horribly (wonderfully) predictable. Heh, Xiaolang just looked at Kero with literally the same flat-eyed expression Touya has before...and gets completely bodied by Kero for it. The show really only had Kero transform when the story required it and never really more, so that's a bit of a moment. Although given that he only ever plays freaking video games all day every day, he basically shouldn't even be able to transform at this point...magical being benefits, I guess. Alright, here we go again. If someone else was going to suddenly butt in right now...where's Toya and her father? I think they're supposed to be home soon...and, yep, there it is. This is just going to keep happening, isn't it? Half-expecting Ruby to appear out of nowhere just for old time's sake at this point... Sakura should really keep her cards on her...that'd be like Usagi not keeping her transformation brooch on her. I guess a deck of cards is a little more unwieldy...actually, now that I think about it, there are many times throughout the show where she kinda just conjures cards outta nowhere. Hmm, maybe it's just a power she has - the cards have been shown to basically teleport before, after all. I must confess - for but a moment, I interpreted this very wrongly. For only a moment, though. In my defense, look at those eyes...and also, it seems like Meiling too had to question exactly what she meant by that. Meiling, of course, was still embarrassed by the answer, as anyone would rightfully be. And then there were even more guilt trips... The face of a monster that knows all too well what she's doing... Seriously, does Kero do anything but play video games and gorge himself at this point? And yet, he looks like this... Chiharu has some serious "Homer Simpson strangles Bart" issues to work out with Takashi, . Alright, who's it going to be this time? First it was Kero...then it was Toya...we're in the middle of the street right now, so I guess I can't think of anything obvious this time. Hm...maybe an actual THREAT? I guess I'll be surprised! Oh. Uh. A giant rabbit. No, I actually was not expecting Toya for a second time, but somehow, that seems predictable as well. That really *is* like old times...like, season one level of old times. ..."I'm sure it was nothing." *immediate cutaway to desolation and ruin* Yep, I'm sure it was nothing too, Sakura. "Could it be under construction?" Yes, Meiling, because when bridges are being repaired, you utterly demolish them beyond repair before you do the repair, . Oh hey, Kero actually had the same idea I had - Sakura should keep the cards on her at all times! Nice going, Kero. How come Sakura is running late to everything all of a sudden? Did she catch a case of Usagi brain over the summer? Or maybe it was Covid-19... Oh, now *she's* the one that's turning around instead of Xiaolang... This is just "Matchmaking: The Movie" at this point - literally half of the movie more or less completely dedicated to this...and hey, that's great, because it was the most important thing left-over from the show, . Nevertheless, Meiling and Tomoyo should really give Whisper of the Heart a watch and realize that it's O.K. to take your time and not know what you're doing...y'all are still kids. But when you're a kid, you don't feel like a kid, I suppose... Also, I'm pretty sure Xiaolang is having a seizure while on this rollercoaster? That or he just passed out and broke his neck, because that boy don't look right. Oh...bringing out the big guns, are we? The ferris wheel...okay, if there were ever a time to be randomly attacked, this would be it, methinks. Hey...pretty close! Not quite exactly an attack, but pretty close. Just mugged of her cards by her own card, although uh...that card wasn't looking too good to my eyes, so I'm assuming something's up with her. A card that makes everything "return to nothing"? An Ashes to Ashes card - we gettin' Midnight Mass up in here? Uh...Kaho is still living with Eriol? That's...weird. Is she actually human or another one of his creations? That would probably make a lot more sense in all honesty if she was, . Bigly mood. Oh hey, it's Maki(?), the toy store lady. Didn't talk, but she's still around. And Dust to Dust just created a black hole in the middle of the school courtyard, neat. And so prince and princess become princess and prince... I knew there was no way that Takashi was a good fit for that in the first place, so that only made sense. And one last Meiling cackle for the road... Hey, Sonomi recorded Tomoyo's song! She doesn't hate her daughter confirmed! Her goons surrounding the place all have guns, of course...err, I mean cameras, . I love that her dad still readied his even after seeing that ludicrous display. Although I don't love that he left the bloody flash on during a performance...that troglodyte, . Sonomi must be pretty handy with cameras like her daughter, because her look of disgust could have started a war. Yikes, literally the entire town just got sucked into a black hole. Well, it was a good run as Cardcaptor, Sakura. Yikes at Tomoyo's veiled threat to Xiaolang that he would not come back if he didn't wear it. She sure is pushy! And she just turned to dust, so I guess she should've probably made one for herself too if that particular theory of hers had any truth to it - whoops! Okay, was it just me that burst out laughing seeing her ride the ferris wheel? Something about the way that looked, our big bad villain just casually chilling in a ferris wheel as it goes up, was absolutely hilarious to me. Also, I'm pretty sure Sakura would've been severely injured falling like she did - she completely ate it but was totally fine somehow. What a great cornball ending - and it was set up by what happened at the end of the show itself, so bonus points for that. I am, however, a little confused as to why there is an Evangelion(?) song at the end of this movie. Sakura's: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/yy70qrltbhyl3fh/Melody for Tomorrow.flac ...vs. the other: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/fa1ldtqyq7q37hy/This Kind of Love.flac It turns out it's because Shiro Sagisu, the composer of Evangelion, also composed this, and I guess created this alternative version of it. Well, alright, I suppose that does make sense. Great-sounding song, so I can't exactly complain about getting a pretty different version of it.1 point

I'm a big rasslin' fan, people poke fun at that all the time, and rightly so, it's grown men and women with spray tans and very little clothing pretending to fight. I poke fun at fandoms whenever the chance presents itself, whether it's furries, Star Wars fans, or whatever. Ultimately if that's what you get enjoyment out of, that's cool. I will draw a line at thing like lolis, because that's getting dangerously close to child pornography, and snuff films, since actual murder took place.1 point

I'm a firm believer in people getting their geek on about whatever it is. With Aloth and using Ryngrim's enervating terror (or inflict Terrified by another way), because Necriscylas is resistant to Resolve affliction, he will be Fightened and then cant use hostile spells like corrosive siphon. Necriscylas is not immune or resistant to constitution affliction, so if you find a manner to Enfeebled him, no healing. But Weakened is good otherwise (-50% healing) and you have a chant for this (Cons. afflictions are often vs. Fortitude but no in the case of Ryngrim's enervating terror, vs will) . So dumb his will can be determinant for the fight and with your party you get some useful tools for that. Because with fightened he stay able to cast Llengrath's safeguard, Arcane dampener or other things that reduce beneficials effects are really good also. Arcane Dampener is against will, too. I hope I help you1 point

I think that's fair, though. If you are charging money for a product then it's fair game for criticism, I don't care if it's early access. That criticism sticking around after the issue is addressed sucks, but that's the price you pay for charging money for an unfinished product.1 point

Dismissing any genre is a pretty terrible elitist attitude and that goes for all manner of media. There are genres I don't gravitate towards but I certainly don't think of them as being beneath me. I can not like a genre yet still see the value in it.1 point

Cowboy Bebop. I don't hate it like some others, but it is very much lesser than the anime. Honestly it would have worked better if they did more adapting and less translating, too many of the frames recreating frames from the anime just look awkward. As a show though, it's not nearly as bad as Wheel of Time.1 point

Why, yes it is. I was pulling big groups with the Thundercrack Pistol's Conductive Blast (also 1/rest), then Gaff, to focus all the aggro on my tank. Then I'd switch to a main weapon and get engagement. This was pretty situational, so the per rest didn't matter that much. I also had "Into the Fray" as a skill, but this one doesn't cost any discipline.1 point

am having similar experience, with noteworthy infrequent exceptions such as the green knight, the seventh seal and a few other films, particular old stuff such as metropolis... 'cause somehow film snob's reflexive lip curl at the mention o' sci-fi or fantasy suffers a kinda selective amnesia regarding a few o' the most groundbreaking films o' all-time. HA! Good Fun! ps amentep has heard us rail more than once 'bout the worthlessness o' the genre labels which didn't actual exist until publishers o' pulp magazines magazines and book sellers embraced 'em. am not certain why people are so wedded to the labels, but such has indeed resulted in the the self-identified snobs feeling inexplicable justified in dismissing movies which share a few elements common attributed to sci-fi or fantasy.1 point

Five episodes in and I think the pilot is the weakest of the bunch with WoT. The world feels less janky and more expansive. There are still moments I'm having the "How the crap is that change going to work??!" before settling back and doing the "show as a companion piece to the books, not a literal translation of the books" moment. Finally have Loial on screen, and while there are potential issues with his looks - they've pushed practical prosthetics that can be used again and again vs CGI that might see the character sidelined due to budget issues - but the voice, character and delivery are pretty much spot on. That and the library introduction sequence between him and Rand was almost spot on to the book. For the subtle note, I did enjoy the lurking presence of Padan Fain hiding in the background of some of the shots of the boys moving through the city. Edit: Also of note for the uber-WoT geeks out there: The panning shot when Mat and Rand arrive to look out over Tar Valon? To be there looking over the river and seeing the city and Dragonmount in the background... Would mean at some point they've gone from west to east, crossed the river, headed north, and now have to cross back over from east to west. Apparently all roads do lead to Tar Valon, but possibly via euclidian geometry.1 point

While the answer it trite you really can't get around the Galbrush Paradox as an explanation; anything other than consistent strength and competence is seen as sexist when applied to a female character. And unfortunately that tends to lead to boring characters who cannot get character development because they're already fully developed. To be frank I find that idea to be the intellectual equivalent of expecting all women to be bikini models looks wise. So for Egwene...1 point

Still waiting on some replies from job interviews, and noting my sleep patterns shifting along with some focus issues. The old joy of procrastination creep vs hyperobsession on one random thing done to the exclusion of all other things on the to-do list. Still, managed to step back, take a breath...and then obsessively played around with Blender until I had initial chest piece design for my Mando project. Quick suggestion for vehicles: boats/rafts, bicycles, tricycles, wheelbarrows & hitches. i think it'd be useful to be able to attach stems & storage containers to wheelbarrows, & also be able to hitch wheelbarrows to tricycles. moving supplies would be incredible this way. also it would be amazing if we could carry a tool that allowed us to drag stems along with us while we're in the water. perhaps bikes wouldnt be able to hitch wheelbarrows but be faster than trikes which could hitch while not being as fast; both still be faster than running; stamina on a bike/trike perhaps is the same as running but takes a penalty when something is hitched to the trike? a small boat/canoe/kayak would just be swell especially if it could also drag supplies. my most out-there suggestion is for rubber bands that allow travel back up a zip line. so if you have enough elastic resource on your way down, it attaches at the end giving you one trip back up. that or maybe a kind of peddle-pully system that relies on stamina?1 point

For some reason, I don't ever remember you mentioning being a Packers fan. Yeah...between Rodgers breathing in his own fumes too much, the refereeing issue that the NFL appears to just want to get worse, the stupid schedule and playoff changes, the absurd commercial time, and probably other issues I can't think off the top of my head...it's not a good product. I deliberately pirate almost all of my NFL games these days in order to not support the NFL at this point, even though I have access to local Fox, CBS, and NBC channels so I could watch them legitimately...but I pretty much only watch Packers games at this point, and heck, I didn't even watch today's game at all. I've always maintained that I am a player-first guy. I'm not fanatically loyal to the team above else, I recognize that each player is his own person with different desires and ambitions and struggles and... But for that same reason, when I'm no longer connecting with the players, I'm not connecting with the team as much either, .1 point

I didn't, I'm saving it for later, . I'm torn on which one I liked more. I guess, if I think about it, this was a great and fitting ending for the show, which is more difficult to pull off than a mid-show "let's go have a random adventure somewhere else" movie like the first one was. I'm still not a hundred percent clear on why the first movie was so disappointing for you, but I'm glad at least the second and more important one was great, . Yeah, I didn't think I would dislike that, and...I didn't, per se, what I actually didn't love was the card herself. I liked Madoushi as a villain *way* more than Ashes. Ashes was...pretty simple and flat, and didn't feel much like a character at all. Still, not too big of an issue.0 points

Stardust Crusaders 28-29: Anubis POLANAREFFU being the big dumb yet again. I think it's required for stand users to look bizarre, so of course when Chaka transforms into one he is suddenly wearing lipstick and starts doing poses. T2 is indeed better than The Terminator, I'd go so far as to say that it may be the best pure action movie ever made. In no way shape or form is Aliens better than Alien, and this is coming from a guy that loves action movies and is usually not into horror (though I love horror comedies).0 points
