I'm not a strong swimmer but I was as a kid because I lived at our local pool. My dad also took the sink or swim approach and tossed me in like the Nirvana baby which I don't remember because I was like 2. He said I took to it right away and really I remember loving swimming underwater and would do laps like that. I wasn't nearly as good swimming on the surface and mostly resorted to doggy paddling. That's probably mostly due to never being taught. I avoid open water and have never been in a lake or ocean past where I could easily stand and 99% of the time I never go more than waist deep.4 points

I apparently liked water enough as a wee lass that my mother was worried I'd accidentally kill myself and stuck me in swimming lessons when I was maybe 5. I remember being awarded "tadpole" or something. Spent a lot of time in friends pools, rivers etc. Then somewhere I had a bad outdoor swimming hole experience and now I'm a big fat water weenie. I can swim - I just generally will avoid it/stay on shore. Well, open water anyway. Pools are ok.4 points

This empty house is loud. Concrete foundations are so much quieter and better at not transferring room to room sound. Might need to sound insulate some walls. Maybe carpet the bedrooms. Covered patio is always nice, can finally sit out while its pouring and watch listen to rain on the pool. Pluses and minuses. I dunno. Ill get used to it eventually...2 points

I know this might not get a lot of attention. But my suggestion is, to add the ability to auto pick up certain resources (plant fiber, mushrooms, etc) but it'll be an option you can turn on/off in the menu (under accessibility) and be able to select the resource you want to auto pick up. I suggest this cause having a disability, stopping and going to pick up plant fiber and mushrooms is a very exhausting task which limits time of playing this awesome game.2 points

I remember how i tried swimming the first time... my dad had been giving me basic instructions for a while and we had practiced every now and then at the beach in the summer. The North Sea is considerably colder than anything most people outside Scandinavia associate with "the beach" Anyway, on this particular day, my dad was keeping me afloat at the surface, holding both his hands underneath me (being a lot bigger than me, he could stand on his feet) and I was making some approximation of swimming moves when he let go and told me, there you go, now swim! And I swam... like a rock! After much sputtering and splashing (and panicking), I eventually got the hang of it and made it to the surface, keeping myself afloat. I must have been around 6 or 7 years old at the time. I got a lot better at it since. I remember feeling a bit proud the first time I did a 1000m in an indoor swimming pool. Can't really live in Denmark without learning to swim I suppose. Nowhere in the country is more than 50km away from the sea.2 points

My son started on a swim team this last week. He is 11, and we spent a number of years enrolling him in YMCA classes over the summers, but he never really picked it up and was very nervous in the water. A few months ago my wife arranged for him to have 1 on 1 lessons with an excellent coach, and after 2 weeks he was way more comfortable. He could now backstroke and freestyle a bit and no longer was afraid to put his head under water. A couple weeks ago it was pretty nice out and I asked him after school if he wanted to go to the High School pool with me so I could get some laps in. He seemed happy to go, which was a big change from before the lessons. As we were finishing up, a swim club was getting ready to start, and they have a beginner group. I know the coach, and he said my son should join the club. I asked my son, and he was interested, which was another surprise. My kid has pretty much only wanted to play hockey, but this last year he had taken tennis and was now interested in swimming. I was excited to see him expanding his interests a bit. So anyway, we get him signed up, get him the swim jammers, and he starts swimming 45 minutes a day with this team. Monday through Thursday went well. Or rather I should say, he enjoyed it. I was anxious as hell. I was also on a swim team at his age. It was super competitive and I always felt like the slowest kid on the pool deck. I'm pretty comfortable in the water, but I definitely have some weird anxiety around swim coaches and teams. I told my wife I was getting anxious watching him and she told me to calm down. Friday rolls around and my son has a rough swim practice. It was cold and windy. They also moved him away from the shallow end. Monday through Thursday when he struggled, he could just stand up. He can't really swim a full length yet. But Friday it was basically swim 10 years, grab on to the lane line, then struggle for 15 more yards. He got out and was quiet. I couldn't tell if he was upset or just cold, but once we got in the car he totally teared up. He was upset. I tried to comfort him and told him it was the first week, and it will get easier. So now I'm all upset and can't sleep. I mean, obviously I will talk to the coaches and let them know it was hard for him to be out of the shallow end. But I don't want to traumatize the kid. I don't know, I'm probably letting my own anxiety get in the way here. He enjoyed Monday through Thursday and had one rough day. Ugh.2 points

The new house is supposedly ours now (title). The previous owners had to wait for a death certificate to come through. So we're likely going up tomorrow to take a longer look at it and figure out what we're going to do re: any small repairs/changes and moving. So today I'm slouching about wondering if I'm going to go up there and realize I hate the place. HAHA. ...sigh. Did I mention already that I hate moving? Although, it does appear we have good timing for once - one of our current next door neighbors appears to be building an in-law type extra dwelling room/apt. structure in their backyard, close to our side of the fence. Which would be honestly annoying to live next to, with these small lots here. So instead we'll let some renters live next to it.2 points

fixed. truth to tell, any explanation rodgers offered were gonna be suspect 'cause, y'know, he already had been lying 'bout his vaccination status. fans like @Bartimaeus and the woke media is the reason rodgers were forced to lie. 'course you all were gonna qq 'cause some rando old person or unvaccinated kid with health concerns maybe ends up getting sick. is not like rodgers didn't follow most o' the covid protocols--was just press conferences and those preseason games... and that recent party and... etc. so, rodgers chose not experiment with an unproven vaccine, which has now been given to billions o' people and is displaying less frequent serious side effects than taking aspirin. you gonna pretend like that is unreasonable? btw, aaron rodgers got advice from joe rogan, which is just like consulting a reputable medical professional. oh, and hippa. ... as crazy, selfish and misguided as such stuff sounds, is not like we ain't seen boardies and multiple other nfl players repeating such crass and ignorant bs, so ain't a big surprise even if is a bit disappointing when you hear rodgers refusing accountability. is just a bit more difficult to cheer for a guy if he is a complete tool bag... unless you are a cowboys fan. Oh, no, I really like Dead Scream. I really like Pluto, even... or especially Crystal's version. Hey Toei, here's an idea: I'd totally watch a Sailor Pluto spinoff. I just thought of all the colorful attacks in Sailor Moon and Dead Scream didn't come up at all. Ms. Book of Darkness as Nanoha calls her could easily cast DEAD SCREAM without it being weird, that's all. Although she'd probably use TODESSCHREI, or since that would be a decent translation, probably something like TOTER SCHREI (literal translation of DEAD SCREAM). Some more Sakura talk:1 point

You cannot pick Monastic Unarmed Training when you have a Monk multiclass. The MuT ability gets removed from the ability tree because you will already have Transcendent Suffering and the game doesn't want you to stack them. You could add it with the console or a mod. In that case the two abilities will stack completely (PEN-, ACC- and damage bonus). Yup1 point

That is interesting to keep in a mind for future MC builds with monk. What happens if you 'choose' Monastic Unarmed Training on a Multiclass monk / x character? Are the 'fists' always going to be based on the Monk (Multiclassed) Power Level, then? I honestly don't use Range Animal Companion as much as I should. I always love to AOE (blunderbass or spells) , so sometimes the pet dies lol. There are ways around that, of course. On another topic, Firebrand would then work with multiclassed characters (though I could use scrolls , too for 2 arcana only) Thanks again for the info!1 point

our mom, when we were still too young to remember anything, took us to one o' those baby swim classes at a local chicago ymca. as such we have literal no memory o' a time when we were unable to swim, which is, in retrospect, kinda kewl. our mother were scared o' the water, so she had to force herself to go to the classes. we were not particular close with our parents, for a variety o' reasons, but we always admired our mom for taking us to those classes at the y and we appreciated the fact we were taught to swim likely before we were able to walk particular well. HA! Good Fun!1 point
-
That's right. Fists with Transcendent Suffering/Monastic Unarmed Training scale with power level. But Monastic Unarmed Training uses the PL-progression of single class (maybe oversight) even if you are multiclassed - so even there Single Class vs. Multiclass doesn't matter. With a monk it does matter though. By the way: Ranger's Animal Companion also scales with char level, not Power Level.1 point

That's certainly true for the act of adapting the source material, but while animation has its own set of logistical challenges, I was also thinking of actor casting, contract management, budgetary concerns, logicists, set design, location scouting, all that stuff. Animation itslef is created, by far and large, by readily exploited office workers. Live action sets, even ridiculously cheap ones, have a lot more moving parts that need to function, and the more intricate the setting of your comic/managa is to adapt, the more the live action version would suffer from increased difficulty with these issues than giving your animators and artists more time to draw, more or less. Unless you do your entire live action film in front of a greenscreen, in which case you end with the Star Wars prequels. I also pretty much agree, there's no magical recipe to make everyone happy, and as far as the unicorns go, what really is there? Harry Potter and Fellowship of the Ring, and the former is a case where having an adaptational writing pass improved the source material. Hey, like with Sailor Moon. And Lord of the Rings sort of ends being an adaptational unicorn with The Two Towers and doesn't really make up with Return of the King. Although, what do I really know, I'm one of them weirdos who enjoyed the Silmarillion and like it more than Lord of the Rings. Don't give them any ideas, now I'm afraid some magic will turn Nanoha into a super hot 20 year old trying to seduce her father in a scene that's crappily graphic and even more sexualized than BRACK RADY ever was. Ugh.1 point

Cool. I haven't checked everything but just flew over it - but it looks good. Two things I noticed that aren't quite correct: Gipon Prudensco and Nomand's Brigandine don't give immunity to engagement but instead give immunity to disengagement attacks. This sounds like the same but it isn't: While immunity to engagement prevents enemies from engaging you entirely, immunity to disengagement attacks lets enemies still engage you (and thus you might still profit from stuff like Entonia Signet Ring) and they will also do disengagement attacks if you break engagement - but all those attacks will be turned into misses. This opens up some synergy with abilites like Imagined Pain, Riposte and so on but also with item enchantments or modals like Offensive Parry (Whispers of the Endless Paths) or the small shield modal for example. I could't find Edér's armor in the list (maybe I missed it). It provides immunity vs. Reflex attacks via the enchantment Veteran's Maneuver. This can be used with stuff like Keeper of the Flame + Whispers of the Wind + Imagined Pain (Imagined Pain gives 1 wound per miss against you, the flame AoE of the flail will also hit you but targets reflex so it gets turned into a miss -> +1 wound). --- The pet's name is Ooblit, not Ooblist. I couldn't find Harley (the dog pet). It raises ranged damage by 10% - but actually works with all sorts of damage that's not melee, including spells. Several pets give increased AoE size as secondary, party-wide effect (like Loki does as primary, but to everybody and weaker - I think 5% or so). As I said I just flew over it...1 point

The good example of small scale openworld is also the Yakuza series. You can do pretty anything you like in almost any order, but you are always very close to the story and it does not take you 15 minutes to get where you want. On the other hand, Fallout 3 became to me one of the most boring games I have ever played. The only fun were the DLCs, which were "closed-world". But that made them very balanced and fast pacing compared to everything else in the vanilla game1 point

It just dawned on me. Why did the (sith) empire waste so much time and money continually building giant superweapons that come standard with one fatal flaw to blow up planets with? They should have just hired Samus Aran, she's really good at blowing up planets. I don't know what her fee is, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that it's significantly less than building a gigantic battle station that's just going to get blown up by a X-wing anyway. The sith's greatest flaw is being very irresponsible with their money.1 point

Just an interesting take on the current entertainment industry (movies/tv). I don't remember giving it much conscious thought, why I don't watch movies or tv these days or if I for some reason do end up starting watching something (mostly by accident), I switch off/lose interest really quickly. While not necessarily 100% correct, I think this guy hit at least a handful of nails on their heads as far as I'm concerned...1 point

Bravely Default 2 For those not familiar with the series, it's essentially old skool Final Fantasy in everything except name. I brought back an old character name staple I hadn't used in many years. Everything from Final Fantasy of 20+ years ago and is here: Active turn-based combat, job system, familiar item names (e.g. phoenix down), familiar battle music. The new wrinkle is the brave and default (hence the series name) combat abilities. Brave lets you do extra actions (up to 4 total) while default defends and accumulates bravery points (bp) to use with brave. There's more to it than that, but I don't feel like typing out another paragraph. The environments can look quite lovely. I like how it shows a cutaway when you enter a building. The chibi-ish art style probably won't be to everybody's liking, but it doesn't bother me. Check out the pompadour on this guy!1 point

Morrowind had a plot. You had to find Caius Cossades, the creepy skooma addict, and follow his creepy skooma addict instructions. Most people just spent all their time admiring the giant mushrooms though rather than getting naked for his entertainment. All I can remember about Oblivion's plot was that they got Jean Luc Picard and Sharpe to do the voices, and spent a grand total of 0.50c on the rest of them. And, of course, daedric glass elemental armoured bandits, mudcrabs- memorably horrible creatures, I avoided them whenever I could- and the radiant AI deciding 3 o'clock was time for people to rake their carpets after staring at a wall for the past hour or so. I did, for my sins, finish the game but literally the only thing I can remember was Sean Bean walking up temple steps or something. Fallout 3 you were looking for your father, a middle aged guy, maybe someone's seen him? Sounds suspiciously like Qui Gon Jinn phoning it in? In the most Bethesda move possible it originally had the single most stupid ending ever written, orders of magnitude worse than 'rocks fall, everyone dies' NWN2. Of course the PC has to commit sudoku by radiation rather than sending someone immune to radiation in, otherwise he wouldn't be the hero thick as two short planks, unable to walk and chew gum, a drooling imbecile etc etc. Or maybe that's just all the people who thought that ending was a Good Idea™.1 point

But did you get/like the dog? Surely you give a few cares for the adorable dog? ...there was this point very early in FO4 not long after you get your first mechsuit contraption. Main quest said something about meeting someone in a town/vault. I found the place, entered, looked around for about 10 seconds, then turned around and left. I never went back and the rest of my time in FO4 was building forts, and randomly exploring what I could whilst playing with/dressing up that dog. I eventually forgot there was even supposed to be story/questline. But FO4 was a pretty good post-apoc. pet and fort-design simulator. Edit: oh yeah, I never used the mechsuit again. I left it on the side of a road I think.1 point

I have the same problem with the Bethesda "Stallout" games. New Vegas was the only one that I managed to get anywhere in thanks to Obs and I still didn't get very far.1 point

I bought Fallout 4 GOTY edition, if nothing else, just to satisfy my curiosity. Still have a very bad taste in my mouth after dropping Fallout 3 halfway through with no intention of going back to it. I made it to some camp with a bunch of kids that screamed 'kill me', but the game wouldn't let me kill them, uninstalled and never looked back. Oh yeah, the requirement for a non existing Microsoft Live service was another reason. It was $13, so I just think of that as the price of satisfying my curiosity and see what this game is about. I don't know what it is about Bethesda, but they sure as heck can't start stories in any way that I find motivating. In Fallout 3, they threw this old guy at me all the time, called him my 'Dad' and I was supposed to care somehow. Well, I couldn't care less I suppose. In Fallout 4, they have weighed me down with some brat, i suddenly have to find. Problem is just... I... don't... give... a... ****... about the baby. Hope the rad scorpions made a nice meal out of him. Double fail Bethesda, people don't care about characters because YOU TELL THEM TO, dammit. They just don't. Found my old home and Codsworth being way more interesting than my now dead partner and irrelevant spawn. Not sure if I'm actually going to progress from this point onward to be honest or just write off the $13 and cut my losses (time is a valuable commodity for me these days)1 point

When you think you're done with a game and then ... "hmm, wait...this has...POTENTIAL." Guys, I've been up all night, dying of laughter. Four Do's destroy everything (and they cast heal on each other). And it's workable in a new playthrough (Cheat Engine table), even in the sections where you haven't picked him up officially, yet.1 point
