Well, here's to one last hurrah of an air of authority on the matter, I guess. I should stand by what I say more often, really, and just mark the thread as read without actually reading it. Ah, well, here goes nothing: That's easy to explain, because the "several prominent medical researchers" are akin to the 0.1% of climatologists who deny climate change, and the 0.1% of physicists who are still trying to find the aether. The difference is that while the anti-relativity crowd doesn't get any false equivalency media time*, the fringe science groups for climate change and vaccines do, for some reason, helped by a good deal of lobbying by some very powerful and wealthy individuals (there's an actual conspiracy for you, although it's really just out in the open) and trolling on social media. Take Byram Bridle, for instance, a "prominent" Canadian immunologist who thinks that the vaccines are poison because the spike protein is cytotoxic, and he's citing an actually old Japanese study where it was shown that rats and mice reacted badly to having an insane amount of mRNA injected. Much, much more than what's in a human approved dose. He also said he "fought" to be allowed to read the study, while it's really just publicly available, albeit written in Japanese. The guy was all the rage a while ago on Russia Today and a host of anti-vaxxer YouTube channels and other alternative health and medicine media outlets. The rats have been injected with much higher dosages of the Pfizer vaccine that humans would get. The vaccines themselves, by design, cause inflammation (= cells that build the spike protein after having the mRNA introduced through vector viruses or lipid nanoparticles are eventually disposed of by the body's immune response), it seems logical enough that severely overdosing it causes problems. If that didn't happen, the vaccines wouldn't work. This is, by the way, the study Dr. Bridle had to "fight over" to get access to (maybe he meant he had trouble finding a Japanese translator, because clicking on that link sure isn't anything you need to fight over), and this is the EMA approval document for the Pfizer vaccine. The study is talked about on page 48 to 50. Just so you know this isn't made up. And no, I'm neither a medical reseracher nor can I read Japanese, I got the two links through five minutes of googling around a bit. You'd think news outlets letting the guy talk would fact check with even greater care, but who does that in this day and age. Ain't nobody got time to do things that don't generate ad revenue - or fit the desired narrative. However, don't go and claim you present an argument, you just - by your own admission - pick something up on the news and post it here, and most of the time it's just that. Still no sign of Israel actually stopping the third doses. In fact, Israel just approved the booster shot for younger people, first for everyone aged 50 or older, and recently 40 or older. My Moderna shot came with an list of ingredients that I had to read through first to look for known allergies. <imagine HK47's voice here> Mocking tone: People don't think you're a flat earther doing your own research for nothing, it's because you keep repeating the same pattern of any flat earther who does his own "research", and assuming for the moment that you're really just relaying what the news tell you, it's time to look for a different news channel than Russia Today or some other radio station, because that one really has it in for any vaccine that isn't Sputnik V. I wonder why that is though. All of this isn't to say that Big Pharma isn't an actual problem - it is, often, and for hundres of millions of people worldwide. You just need to look at the insulin prices in the US, or the attempts to price gouge HIV treatments, side effects that show up due to insufficient testing, and any number of such occurances. Vaccines, however, aren't. Sick people generate much more income for Big Pharma than innoculated ones, and it really takes some mental twisting to come up with the idea that vaccines are supposed to make you sick, contain microchips or are used for population control, which bit by bit I wish they were actually really made for. *Although in this day and age, it looks more and more like it's not about false equivalency any more but about generating as many clicks and viewership as possible to sell some more ads. It really is unlikely that anyone here was involved in any Covid-19 research, but what does that matter? It's not necessary to understand - at least in basic principle - how an mRNA or vector vaccine works, and there are a ton of helpful people who take the complex subject matter and try to make it accessible to people. They often have YouTube channels or are sometimes on TV too (though not often enough), but are really often the punching bags of conspiracy nutjobs, anti-vaxxers and flat earthers. The German RKI for instance has a YouTube presence that explains how what and why the vaccines work as they do, how coronaviruses infect cells, and a bunch of other things. It's not perfect, but they're really helpful and use props to visualize what's going on. Like this one: The only problem is, obviously, they're German. The guy has a PhD in microbiology by the way (appeal to authority, kek) and probably drives a nice Porsche financed by Big Pharma, Bill Gates, Soros or whoever else is at fault for the plandemic. Where's Alex Jones when you need him? There's no way he's doing these for the benefit of people and to help them understand. Nah.4 points

I made the mistake a couple of nights ago to say nothing, when asked what I'd be doing that evening. Next thing I knew I was on a tiny boat with two other men, skimming out of the bay for nighttime fishing. Caught my first calamari. It was an experience. They threatened to take me along with them again.3 points

Well the rebuild series was meant to be a revision of Evangelion so I think that's the point. While it could have been anyone who got Gendo involved with Yui and the....whatever the hell the weird ass techno-religious babble stuff was, it was Mari. Given that the idea of her was to destroy Evangelion, I think they were angling to have another character who had been there at the beginning and had some understanding of the techno-religious babble instead of another traumatized child soldier pilot. Just as likely, they could have been flying by the seat of their pants and just made it up as they went along. I guess beyond that though Mari is there to show Shinji how getting a gf will mean he doesn't need to worry about giant robots, monsters, and can live with depression without going catatonic. Which makes the theory that Mari was an insert of Anno's wife seem more plausible. In which case bold move to make your actual wife waifu bait.2 points

Hello again! Always annoyed that Berserkers go down so easily? And the Berserker really should hit much faster with two handed weapons anyway 'cause it's cooler? Easy: just have Carnage with friendly fire (or in other words: be confused af) and "accidentially" kill your own skeletons (or whatever summons - Many Lives is very convenient) with Twin Eels. Its healing effect also triggers from Carnage-kills (actually it heals from any kills, no matter how you achievend them). So every time a skeleton falls from your Carnage you'll heal your surroudings (including yourself), trigger Bloodlust and Blood Thirst which lets you attack with 0 recovery which leads to more ded skeletons which leads to more healing and so on and so forth... A bit like a Kind Wayfarer on speed with unlimited healing. Of course you could also do that with a Berserker/anything (hello Berserker/Paladin with Sacred Immolation?) and let somebody else summon creatures. But that's less cool imo. Before getting Twin Eels and stuff you will still be a Howler with all the goodies. Howlers rock anyway. Quick vid: --- Then, take the same character basically (Berserker/Skald is best though) but instead of Twin Eels give him Blightheart. Summon some Ancient Brittle Skellies, frenzy up and use Her Revenge. You will kill several skeletons accidantially and trigger Bloodlust, Blood Thirst and get phrases from the kill(s) which lets you cast another Her Revenge right away and so on and so forth. No healing but unlimited casting and brutal casting speed. Just don't let party members stand where you cast... Quick vid:2 points

Heh, thats exactly the approach I took this vacation. All the restaurants on the resort are already included in the price so every night I would scan the menu of whatever place we were eating at and specifically choose something that I wouldnt normally order for myself. I tried a snapper dish, and it was alright. Im not a huge fish eater but shellfish and crustaceans can GET IN MY BELLY. Aside, they have the best goddamn fresh fruit in the world in Mexico. Seemed like they were picking it off a tree right out back and serving it to my plate it was so fresh and sweet.2 points

Hello! I just got the Changeling's Mantle again. And while I was looking at the possible "routes" for the soulbound upgrades I got an idea for "Primal Carnage": can a confused Berserker's Carnage which hits your own beast summons (for example wurms) give you the action bonus? This would turn Primal Carnage from a situationally cool gimmick into a thing that's always useful. So I tested it and yeah: you can summon your 6 wurms and place them around an enemy, then attack that enemy with - let's say Barbaric Smash - and immediately get +15% Action Speed which stacks with all other speed buffs. As a bonus you get Blood Thirst and Bloodlust should you kill your own wurms that way. I think that's pretty cool because the Changeling's Mantle looks awesome in the first place and I really needed a justification to wear it. Next I will test if Amra's Carnage would also add stacks of Primal Carnage. It's capped at 15 stacks so maybe this isn't superimportant - but good to know I guess. I'll also check if Sun & Moon (which should proc Carnage twice) will give me twice the stacks per attack. Till later!1 point

This sounds insane. Not nearly as good as Grave Calling, but without the total GPU rampage right? I'll have to give it a try, but first I want to see how far I can push defenses on my current Arcane Knight playthrough . Thanks for sharing!1 point

You have a line with maybe three sinkers (Google squid hook). They have a lot of barbs but no actual big hook that gets stuck in. Lower the line to the bottom, then haul it back and lower it again. As you fish during a dark night, the little light from your lamp should reflect from your sinkers and attract the squid. It latches on and you haul it up. As there is no big hook though, if your movement isn't steady or too slow, it'll move off. So basically you just lower your line straight down and pull back up. No bait needed as light is your bait.1 point

Well, I'm both looking and not looking forward to that. Good, good. It's time to finally find out who Yue really is. Heh. A pity about them not enjoying it enough to continue though. I guess I can understand that. One some, uhm, "objective" level. Really. No, I don't. How can you not love watching Sakura clean house and battle a tree. It's so adorable. My biggest problem with the scene, apart from reusing it to draw parallels that could have been shown much better - and were shown much better in the past - was the reuse of the tired old comedy trope where Misato picks up her beer can only to reveal that something's still censoring the nudity. It was mildly funny (if totally expected) for Shinji, but for Asuka it doesn't even make sense in the framing of the rest of the film, or the first one, or what makes Asuka's breasts so much different from Rei's? I really don't get it, but I'm also the wrong person for this kind of "comedy", which almost always falls flat for me, unless it's the silly shadow play in Men in Tights, while that is a different setup, it's similar, and a riot in general. Funny, I love that movie, but only in the dub. The German dub is so much funnier than the original. It seems like a rather clear basis for the stylistic elements of Ms. Takeuchi's work, and for Utena as well. I don't know enough about it, to be honest, to say that for sure, but I'd be surprised if she and some other parts of the Sailor Moon creative team didn't at least have Natsu e no tobira as inspiration, manga or OVA. It also looks different from many other 80ies anime and OVA I've seen. I'll be off to subject myself to Evangelion 3.33 now.1 point

PC, Prepare to Die edition. It wasn't too bad at this point. Playable, but suboptimal port. On my old laptop I was almost able to run everything without issues. There was one boss that tanked my framerate to sub 30FPS, but luckily he wasn't very tough. I have no clue if it was my PC or port.1 point

No, I still plan on trying it. I want to feel the wrongness myself - especially because if I've learned anything from RoE, it's that it will make the original look even better in hindsight. It's just that there's about a 0% chance I'll watch more than a few of the first episodes and the couple that you said that were actually good. In the sense of them loving it, no, it didn't - said it was very well-made but just didn't hold any inherent appeal to them. Regardless, my aim of finally getting an answer on Sakura was fulfilled, which also means I can finally finish the second arc, . Yeah, I didn't really have...too much of a problem with that particular scene. It was a bit too indulgent for me, but at least it felt like there was some kind of purpose. Unlike everything with...Who-Know-Who. ...I should've listened to her in Japanese, maybe she would've been slightly less repulsive - even just her voice in the Amazon English dub is simply nails on a chalkboard for me. A better character and maybe I would've gotten used to it, but all of it together made for easy yet utter intolerance. It is kind of amazing how watching Evangelion's action scenes is completely unappealing AND makes my brain bleed, and then seeing something like that is like...well, it's obviously a bit more crude in terms of technique and style than something modern, but who cares when it works and doesn't give you an aneurysm? Looks like a dark and dingy proto-Utena almost, .1 point

I overexaggerated for effect. Marion is 15, so he's uninteresting for the real Pedosus anyway. I mean, there's video evidence that Pedosus doesn't like Chibi-Usa's 16 or 17 year old version, while he's really into her while she's nine, but when taken in a modern context, Natsu e no tobira it is really inappropriate in both the (mostly implied) age difference and the very questionable consent (at best) given, Sarah is really forceful in her persuit, in the beginning, the first time they meet she kisses Marion without consent - well at least he's not asleep when it happens, RIGHT, MAMORU? - and then later it really gets worse. To the OVA's credit, everything about is is inrecredibly artistic. The soundtrack is perfectly fitting, the backgrounds vary from simple and elegant to detailed and dreamlike, and the character designs really seem to be the origin for later works of the 90ies, with its more angular features than the usually more rounded ones of the era. It was more enjoyable than RoE simply for that alone. This was, by the way, the YT suggestion: You really need to turn off the sound, because Mr. Narrator is one more case of people who should not narrate videos, but he also thinks it looks incredibly French, so at least he's not a complete nicompoop. You can look at the first minute. The OVA contains a drawing of Zeus' affair with Leda (here's some greek mythology for you ) later on, and I think it is also in this video (that means bare breasts, just in case, so NSFW eventually if you watch it in full, but why would you). I mean, really, look at that first minute of the video and tell me that doesn't look at least enticing, especially when you've just seen that opening shot of Evangelion 3.33 with the singing Mari and Eyepatch!Asuka in their CGI spaceships. That it turned out to fall a "little" flat and misses the mark of its animation promise by a good deal wasn't exactly something easily predicted. I did read a plot blurb, but it just mentioned an affair. After a while I thought he'd start a little Romeo and Juliet style teenage forbidden love affair with the mayor's daugther. But no, not really. Yeah. At least it didn't spawn a thousand different spin-offs to follow. I think I'll just finish Princess Tutu now, that didn't turn out to be what I hoped for either, but at least it's good. Oh, it also really demonstrates that Ikuko Itoh likes these sort of characters looking at underwear joke, like the one where the four girls in Sailor Moon are stuck in that narrow alley. Because there's a really small character (in body size, not age) in the second season that walks underneath Ahiru's skirt and starts looking for her duck tail while she's a girl, and it startles her so much she turns back into a duck. Princess Tutu is also a great contrast to Rebuild of Evangelion in terms of framing. There are certain times when characters in Princess Tutu, are drawn with a certain amount of sexual appeal, but it always serves a narrative purpose, and isn't there because Ms. Itoh thought the fans would appreciate Mari complaining about squeezed boobies in her ill-fitting plugsuit. Funny, as much as I complained about showing both Shinji and Asuka running out of the bathroom naked because they're startled by Pen² (because it's far too unnecessarily direct in immediately drawing parallels between the two, compared to the original show), at least the two scenes made senes from a narrative point of view. If only the others were as well done. Speaking of Rebuild of Evangelion, it has the same feeling that Clear Card did. Made by all the same people with all the same assets, but it's just wrong and doesn't work. Except it is worse for Clear Card still, because I would rate the original Cardcaptor Sakura a good deal higher than the original Neon Genesis Evangelion, even though that comparison is only truly there for demonstration purposes. The two animes have nothing in common, other than having terrible follow ups made way later. Still, I never thought I could use NGE as an example of why staying away from Clear Card is a good idea. I'd still like to get validation for my point of view, obviously, but I think I just killed every chance that you'll ever try Clear Card. Not-a-spoiler:1 point

...and scientists are only right until they're wrong. It's the beauty of science. Always looking for more info to prove/disprove something. In the end, who you believe is a personal matter. Some things seems more obvious and easier to accept (like the Earth is flat, because we can all see that from our individual perspectives) and some things stretches credulity. Early (European) astronomers got burned on the stake by the Christians for having outrageous ideas about the universe. edit: if the head of the ICU in Florida’s largest hospital says 95% of the cases in his ICU is unvaccinated (interview in the link I posted above) I consider him a more reliable source on the importance of anti covid measures than anything coming out of DeSantos’ mouth1 point

I can't imagine not posting this if Alex Jones and anime are mentioned together. Anyways I think Rebuild is some good ideas, some awful ones, a few great ones, and some hideous cgi slapped together. Overall I think it is the most satisfying ending Evangelion is going to get, which may not be saying much but I liked it all the same. Like usual, I think cgi does make most things worse, and while it may have destroyed the budget hand drawn animation would have looker much better. And I was completely serious about Mari, the anti-universe sketches show how she basically started the events of Evangelion. Without her there might not have been a Second Impact and there definitely wouldn't have been a NERV.1 point

@Bartimaeus should get a medal for persevering until the end! Congrats! As for the movies, they did a lot to explain what was going on in the originals as far as the story goes, as far as the characters go it was mostly a rehash of the originals (minus she who shall not be named), although this time around he gave us some closure and didn't blueball the ending. Overall I much prefer this ending to what we got with NG:E, I would even go so far to say that I like it very much. I think it goes back to what KP was saying, these movies are made for the people who already watched the original series and so a lot of the character interactions have been skipped or have simply been sped through. Overall the focus was more on the "story" this time around. As for what the story is, this is how I understood it. The rebuild is the continuation of the original series. At some point after the ending of NG:E someone wished for a restart of the world, it's also hinted that this restart may have happened a couple of times with different variations of reality, ie. wishes being made that affect the world. Gendo's wish being that all barriers are removed and thus all beings become one (this was a theme in the original series too) so he can be with his wife again who is now part of the original Eva (and after the second movie part of Shinji?), so he tricked pretty much everyone from the beginning to make this scenario happen. Now to make this happen he needed the spears, ie. wishes. That is why he needed the impacts to happen as they provided the materials for the spears, ie. fuel for the wishes. The rest is I think pretty clear by the end of the last movie, Shinji mans up confronts his father and with the last spear wishes for the end of Eva and thus choosing to grow up and face the world on his own. As for the ending itself I think it's a comment on the real world being interesting enough without Giant robot battles and magic technology.1 point

Uh weiiiird? Maybe this is an interaction with my german language mod, because it definitely shows up as an accuracy bonus - in this case it would be like +11.3 Jager des Jagds or something. sorta a ps keep in mind biden's choices were actual worse than many is presenting. given the turd sandwich trump left behind with afghanistan, the immediate options were all kinda unpalatable. recall that the trump administration had arrived at a may 2021 deadline for withdrawal, a deadline established w/o the input o' the afghanistan government. trump had negotiated the release o' various taliban leaders from prison as a initial step in his "peace" process and no doubt if biden had chosen to ignore the trump deal, those terrorists woulda' simple shrugged and looked for other work. (<- sarcasm) as such, biden's choice were not simple to take the trump deal or to keep things as is in afghanistan. short-term, biden were gonna need send some significant number o' troops back to afghanistan if he did not honor trump's deal. @Amentep thanks. is what we get for not double-checking. we could fix, but you already have so... Sun & Moon: it doesn't proc Carnage twice, so nothing special. Amra: The "Carnage" of Amra doesn't work with Primal Carnage. Pukestabber + Lover's Embrace works very well (+20% Action Speed from Pukestabber and 25% Action Speed from Lover's Embrace if you attack the right gender - it stacks with everything). You will stack a lot of action speed, daggers are already fast and you don't instantly kill the wurms with Carnage because the base dmg of daggers is low enough so they survive enough Carnage procs to give you 15 stacks of Primal Carnage. Only thing is that Daggers don't look so nice with that armor. Stalker's Patience would be nice. Maybe even Berseker/Skald is cool with the recovery-skip of Stalker's Patience. 3 Wurms instead of 6 means double the attacks needed - but if I can crit and skip recovery with the speas once in a while it should still be fast. And I can prifit from the phrases and the lower cost of offensive invocations... hm...1 point

Good questions, you are the first person on any forum I frequent who has ever expressed such interest in this type of SA local meat, I will try to answer The Ostrich has very little fat so it doesnt have much natural taste....less than chicken It tastes more like vension with a hartier taste than chicken but not as tasty IMO I have never seen the legs ever served in restaurants but I doubt they have much fat on them The wings would be too big and not that edible for wings I imagine So its easy to assume ....whats the point, where is the fun in eating Ostrich ? But you get steaks, ostrich dried meat, Ostrich eggs, cubed and sliced Ostrich for stir-fry's and Ostrich stews. So basically people eat it because its so healthy with no fat ....but personally normal chicken and other meats taste better for me1 point
