My 11-year old (who was 9 when this all started) is probably better than anyone else in the family at wearing his mask. He even wears it for hockey practice. Granted we invested in some decent masks early on and they have been well worth it. I am in my first week of teaching 7th graders, and I haven't had a single complaint about the masks from my 170 students. They wear them in class, and they wear them most of the time outside unless they are eating or drinking. Us teachers probably complain the most. I hate it, for sure. But I also try to remember that grocery store workers and many others have basically been living in these things for the last year and a half, so I can handle it. My wife has more problems with students in High School. She has a whole group she calls the Trumpsters that driver her nuts with complaining about the masks. Keep in mind, my wife is a lifelong Republican, but she still has to do her job and some of these kids are a pain in the rear. I'd imagine the younger the kids are, the more lenient the policies are going to be when it comes to masks. But, like wearing pants, using the bathroom, and washing your hands, you can work with little kids on the skills they need to function in public.3 points

You know you're an "apple" shape (wide shoulders, narrow hips/legs, straight/not curved in waist) when losing maybe 3-3.5 pounds in 4 weeks = 1.5 inch smaller waist. ...while I don't have a "weight" problem per se, like many (lazy) ppl my age I typically have just lived with that extra 8-10 pounds over time, and most of that is in my upper body. Always had great legs, but never had a waist smaller than 26.5", even as a 113 pound athletic pre/early teen. Most of the time if I lose a little weight it doesn't hit the upper body fat much/quickly, my legs just get skinnier instead so I guess this "ketosis" really does work for that better, for me at least.2 points

Eh, I would recommend one of sword&shield types. Melee combat is bread and butter of DS. From there you can figure out what you want to do. With decent shield you can just absorb many attacks which is less efficient, but less dangerous then parrying or dodging. Once you get comfortable with enemies and controls, you can start experimenting with other stuff. When creating first character I wouldn’t pick “Master Key” as gifts - that’s a handy item that opens previously closed doors and allows for more freedom in exploration, but on your first run you will be better of being led by the game.2 points

It really depends on some bosses, the bonfire are not close but neither not far away to became frustrated. You just need to explore as much as possible to not miss any shortcuts, which you can and should open. Two or three bosses can be very frustrating, if you forget to open them up. I don't want to spoil you, so I do not tell you yet where, you should watch more closely2 points

Thanks for the changes. Some feedback: Vielo Vidorio does not play well with the AI system. Sometimes it resets to flames of devotion (unupgraded) in the AI tree after reloading the game. Sometimes you simply cannot set it as an option at all. I enjoy the changes to Barring Death's Door. In particular, my glass cannon characters can no longer function as a pseudo-tank simply by attracting enemy fire and watching them waste their efforts on a target they can't kill. Healing Chain in its current state feels a bit weak. The total healing amount is not that much of an improvement over Lay on Hands by the time you reach PL 8 (especially given it costs more zeal), but it acts much slower. 3 Focus/6s for Great Soul on Ciphers seems a bit weak, and I usually do not bother taking it. I personally feel the "on KO" abilities (Providence, Vengeful Defeat, fighter's self revive) are among the most useless in the game as getting knocked out tends to happen less at higher levels, at least for me (HP tends to scale faster than most damage sources). While you have buffed Vengeful Defeat and Providence, I think it would be cool if it had a change similar to Barring Death's Door, so that instead something happens when you are near death. Great mod.2 points

Naughty, naughty Gorth... a bit more on topic https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-58252784 The National Ignition Facility uses a powerful laser to heat and compress hydrogen fuel, initiating fusion. An experiment suggests the goal of "ignition", where the energy released by fusion exceeds that delivered by the laser, is now within touching distance.2 points

The one in the room with the erogmeter is just a mid range LG. It's functional enough and the image quality is all right, but the Prime app seems to have a couple of issues. It still beats watching Rebuild on my computer, because I chose the screen I'm sitting in front right now purely based on response times for gaming, not for color fidelity. Well can't help it, back to watching. I got to the point where Shinji moved in with Grannyragi, but then I had to terminate the English dub experiment.2 points

There are 3 Arcane Reflection spells: Minor Arcane Reflection (reflects 15 spell levels), Arcane Reflection (reflects 30 spell levels) and Llengrath's Reflection (reflects 50 spell levels). If a wizard casts all of them, while they are all active and before any spells are reflected, are they able to reflect 50 spell levels (in which case they don't stack) or 50+30+15=95 spell levels (in which case they all stack)?1 point

Good question. I don't know and I also never read about that here. I guess Arcane Relfections don't get used much because they only work against targeted spells (which excludes all AoE spells that you can cast "on the ground"). Given how other stuff doesn't stack (e.g. multiple sources of revival such as Second Chance + Unbreakable) I suspect that they won't stack but every time a spell hits it gets substracted from all three reflection spells (would need testing to confirm). Or the highest one directly supresses the lower ones right from the start (that would be visible on the character sheet). But maybe... maybe they stack. I can try it out when I've time and report...1 point

social distancing is the obvious mitigation response. social distance were presumptive dismissed as an option seeing as you got the crumb snatchers going to daycare. so, what are the alternatives? do nothing is often a perfect valid response, but as soon as something goes wrong, people rage at the cold hearted indifference o' those who stood by and watched as a problem unfolded. am suspecting masks for toddlers is a security blanket move. is regular testing gonna be done? testing is more expensive. if something goes wrong at the daycare and there is a cluster o' outbreaks, folks in charge will be able to point to masks and other mitigation efforts they attempted to implement. practical effectiveness o' the mitigation efforts is sadly gonna be secondary to the recognition such efforts will insulate those with authority from responsibility. HA! Good Fun!1 point

Well, its certainly not your typical hardcore hold the line, I have 5 engagement slots tank, but can be pretty damn effective if there are other offtanks in the party. The buffs he gets are strong - and include Repulsive Visage, that will often make near enemies unable to even attack him. And of course, he's also a damage monster.1 point

Public beta has started for Guild Wars 2 and the new elite classes. Every player (regardless of whether they have any expansions, f2p or otherwise) will get 3 new temporary extra character slots where they can create up to 3 insta-max-level characters for one of the first 3 elite specs to be tested. They come complete with all the gear and things needed to try them out. Only catch is... nothing those characters do will benefit your account. I.e. they can't accumulate wealth, map rewards or similar for you and they disappear when the beta ends. But, you get a bit of time playing them at max level and see if it's something for you. Four sessions are planned. The first just started. Further 2 sessions will feature 3 elite specs and the fourth and last one supposedly making all 9 available to test together. They'll probably monitor closely how they perform in all game modes.1 point

Children under 12 are specifically excused from wearing masks here since it can be impossible to get them to keep them on. We now have 7 cases here, fortunately all the exposure sites are very low risk like, uh, a pub and restaurant while watching the All Blacks, a school (teacher), hospital (vaccinated nurse) and a casino. Not their fault of course since they wouldn't have had a clue about being infected. Oh well, time to tackle my gaming backlog plus get the garden organised for spring, for the next 3+ weeks. May I also say a fulsome 'thank you' to Gladys Berejiklian (premier of New South Wales in Ockeronia). I know New Zealand was once part of her state and is listed as a State itself in the Ocker constitution, but I would have been perfectly happy if she hadn't included us in her plan to spread delta throughout the commonwealth. And she had the fricking index case there and did nothing for over a week.1 point

Ah I see, it seems they really didn't want to make regaining resources for druid easy even with tactician, but yea can't get water shaper as I am playing on console, so it comes down to ancient, hand mortar,or whisper of the Endless pass with mule kick.1 point

Just a thought experiment on my part, but maybe the US, the UK, West Germany and other countries did their job a bit too well when supporting the Mujahedin financially, materially and politically in their fight against the Soviet Union. Lots of those old fighters (who later moved on to lead AQ and other groups) learnt that major, foreign powers can be defeated and driven off if you try hard enough, no matter how big they are. Not that the Soviet Union didn't screw up badly too, suddenly getting mixed up in an Afghan civil war between two factions.1 point

This be it. It's working fine in the web interface. German is German, English is English and just in case you can tell the difference between Chinese and Japanese in kanji you're good. For fun I tried a couple of dubs, the Chinese one so far has all the other beat in pure hilarity. Amazon isn't cheap with the licensing, I retract that statement. They're cheap with their app QA.1 point

A Monk can raise his defenses quite a bit via Duality of Mortal Presence (+10 INT or CON means +20 Fortitude or Will), with Iron Wheel he can even gain +3 armor. A Helwalker can even add +10 MIG/+20 more Fortitude but will receive more damage. If you can prevent taking damage via higher defenses then his increased received dmg won't matter. If you can't he will feel squishy though. With Swift Strikes your DEX will go up by 5 points which means +10 Reflex, too. Crucible of Suffering is another way to increase defenses further. Especially a Forbidden Fist Monk with high Resolve can be used to uphold the bonus of Crucible of Suffering at all times. Rooting Pain can be a help in order to preveng incoming damage from melee enemies. Blade Turning can be an excellent tanking tool, too. The Dichotomous Soul can help with tanking a lot. Classes that would be benefical for a MC Monk tank could be: Wizard: can raise deflection a lot with self buffs which complements the Monk's raised non-deflection defenses. Can raise Reflex, too and later gain Wall of Draining which is especially good for prolonging buffs and stuff like Blade Turning. AR of spells like Spirit Shield will not stack with Iron Wheel but the increased INT of Turning Wheel is benefical for buff dirations. May lack engagement, needs to gain some with items. Paladin: like always, may lack engagement, needs to gain some with items. Very good AR due to passives stacking with Iron Wheel. Goldpact's Gilded Enmity won't stack with Iron Wheel. so maybe pick another subclass or don't use Iron Wheel. Fighter: like always, lots of engagement. Refreshing Defense stacking with everything the Monk has nicely. I'd use Unbroken or Devoted. Trickster: not supertanky because the use of Mirrored Images etc. is limited by Guile and that might be scarce when getting attacked a lot as main tank - but might work with the right party. In the beginning not much engagement. Stalker: good AR and defenses, additional body for blocking/engagement. Not so cool if Animal Companion goes down. I'm sure there are other combos that work as well (Monk/Chanter for example?) but I haven't tried them as tanks or offtanks.1 point

I played a bit more with my Crusader, and I am getting the way of him. I gone to Sandswept Ruins and got Last Word, and I am doing a decent damage. Of course I don’t have offensive abilities, but I am having fun now. I am thinking in try a Fanatic or a Brute , but I don’t know if would be a good main tank1 point

I think that a barb shifter is a great combo; they fit together very well thematically. You'll have great attack speed and good healing and CC. Shifter gets good DoT spells automatically that you'll definitely want to use. Make sure that you pick up Infestation of Maggots and Bloody Slaughter at PL 3. It's nice when the damage ticks go up right when the foes' health gets low.1 point

The perfect Druid subclass would be Watershaper because of the foe-only Chillfog (blinds) which would be perfect for this class combo. You can get that via mod or console. Ancient would have the Sporelings to help with flanking. And Sunbeam can be used to blind enemies temporarily. But those are not phantastic options so maybe you either go with scrolls or explosives to flank (distract/disorient/blind) enemies or you use special weapons: Hand Mortar (Blinding Smoke): can be used with high INT and decent ACC to flank enemies. Every crit of the AoE blast wil trigger a blinding smoke cone(!). This often leads to all enemies in the AoE getting distracted. It even works with Clear Out if you put a melee weapon or bashing shield into the offhand. Then every hit roll of the Clear Out come will proc a mortar blast - and every crit of those mortar blast rolls will proc a Blinding Smoke cone. This is almost a gurantee to distract everybody in front of you while also dealing a lot of damage. Just never use the Powder Burns modal because this will prevent Brilliant. Interrupting enemies with Clear Out might also give you back Discipline on top. Whispers of the Endless Paths with Mule Kick: You can disorient everybody in the cone-shaped AoE of the attack. When interrupting enemies' action that way you'll get Discipline (so it's easy to do this over and over again because Mule Kick is so cheap) but it's also easier to "flank" all enemies with Mule Kick then, triggering Brilliant. Also WotEP is an excellent weapon to use with Taste of the Hunt. Every enemy in the cone will suffer from the strong DoT of Taste of the Hunt (the healing will only get applied once though). Maybe there's other weapons that can do similar stuff which I now forgot about. But the good thing about the two I mentioned is that you can get them very early - so you don't have to wait to play the char as intended. Until getting the weapons you can use Sporelings (later too, of course - Sporelings are great tankers at higher levels because they'll have very long duration and you can apply Wild Growth on them which has no duration). --- So my ideas would be: either try Watershaper or Ancient with Hand Mortar+whatever melee weapon - or with WotEP.1 point
