I saw her avatar here and was like "with an avatar like that, she's a hundro percent a turbo-tumblr-er, I probably don't have to but let's make sure". Yup. And then she started animating her own little character graphics because I guess using words isn't her strong point... Suffice to say, think I'll stick to Lindsay Ellis. ...Now if only Lindsay Ellis did video essays on Sailor Moon and Utena, . @Sarex Thanks for the recommendations. I actually checked out Hellsing once upon a time ago, wasn't really to my taste for a variety of reasons, but I just took a quick look at Monster and that looks a bit more up my alley.2 points

A trickster/soulblade can gain focus pretty fast and you can stack multiple dots on enemies.2 points

Maybe, depends on the party. I played a Soulblade/Shattered Pillar (with Community Patch tough to raise the max wound counter back to 10) and I really liked that you will both get wounds and focus with auto-attacks. But I used Whispers of the Endless Paths with Offensive Parry (and high deflection - as well as Nomad's Brigandine for the guaranteed misses on Disengagement Attacks against me). Hits from Offensive Parry both generate wounds/focus as well as trigger Swift Flurry/Heartbeat Drumming procs. I could spam Soul Annihilation a lot because enemy misses against me (in melee) would give me focus and wounds. But I guess the combo could also be fun with Rapiers or whatever. I also guess that Forbidden Fist/Soulblade could be good (only with Community Patch again because else Forbidden Fist attacks won't generate focus). The Seeker's Fang DoT would not only be prolonged by +10 INT/+50% (at max wounds) but also by Enfeelbled (+50%) - also no healing for enemies then. Generally speaking a great weapon for Soulblade is Sun & Moon (dual heads = two chances to hit with SA and if both hit the second one already generates focus again). And it's also the best weapon choice for a Monk with Swift Flurry (way easier to proc crit-chains). So the Monk/Soulblade combo kind of yearns for that weapon - at least as backup weapon... or maybe on the main hand while Seeker's Fang goes into the offhand (because Swift Fkurry procs from the offhand get executed with the main hand weapon and SA also gets executed with the main hand weapon. Also Stunning Surge is great with Sun & Moon and another accurate offhand weapon. Weapon Set 1: Seeker's Fang + Tuotilo's Palm / WS2: Sun & Moon + Tuotilo's Palm That would be my pick with a Forbidden Fist I think (only with Community Patch). I would go with Sun & Moon + Seeker's Fang dual wielding setup on a Shattered Pillar (only with Community Patch). Nalpasca is always an option imo. Unless you get hit by Arcane Dampener the added wound generation is very nice. With Helwalker I might try to use a reach weapon first and later use Instruments of Pain with Seeker's Fang in order to not get hit too much in melee. I think Soul Storm from Chromoprismatic Staff generates focus if I'm not mistaken. And Swift Flurry could lead to 5 consecutive crits (which trigger Soul Storm) quite quickly...? A fantastic ranged opener for gaining massive amounts of focus is Kitchen Stove with Thunderous Report by the way. A Stunning Surge with Mortars into a group of enemies is also a fantastic opener imo. Same is a shot from Watershaper's Focus + Blast from stealth (longer range than mortars or blunderbusses - although the cone of Thunderous Report can get ridiculously big/long with some bonus INT).2 points

Wildermyth has a story you create via making choices for successive generations of adventurers. The Witcher games have pretty good stories all in all despite some blunders here and there. The Forgotten City is an adventure game but won an Australian Writers Guild Award.2 points

we mentioned the issue in a previous post for the most part, lawyers is free to posit wacky legal theories w/o risking rule 11. read case law unconventional and do a bit o' dr. frankenstein surgery with precedent is okie dokie. a few o' the trump team lawsuits had advanced affirmative action claims which relied on prayer as 'posed to established rule o' law; hope the Courts would sudden decide the past few decades o' voter law cases opposite o' reality. such wishful thinking based lawyering is not cause for sanction. what the kraken lawsuits had judges and government lawyers shocked and angry 'bout were the factual reliance on innuendo and gossip w/o any suggestion there would be admissible evidence forthcoming. the thing is, and am admitted continued perplexed by this, something like 40% o' americans thinks January 6 and trump's efforts to overturn the election were either justified or not as worrisome as lib media makes it seem. wtf? the guy in the picture were a hairsbreadth away from being the acting attorney general when that failed, the President o' the United States of America encouraged thousands o' his followers to march on the Capitol. those insurgents who did indeed march to and invade the Capitol were intent on forcing mike pence to send electoral votes back to the states, and perhaps worse. unlike the summer protesters who vandalized empty fed court houses in oregon and washington, the insurgents broke windows and broke down doors to gain entry to the Capitol while Congress was in session and with the VP present. the insurgents attacked cops and a few even called for mike pence to be hanged. an example o' a not insurgent ... what more do you freaking need to wake the heck up? we got americans who will fight to the death for their chainsaw or to oppose a mask mandate, and marjorie taylor greene suggests the biden folks going door-to-door to inform the unvaccinated 'bout delta will be met in the south by a 2nd amendment response, but americans see an attempt by the President to overturn the election and thousand o' the President's loyal followers ransacking the Capitol looking for disloyal Congressmen and the reaction is either sympathy or indifference? wtf? some people is being willful obtuse 'bout how close we were to calamity following the previous Presidential election and refusal to come to grips with such a reality makes it all the more likely it is gonna happen for reals in 2024 or 2028 or... it is funny. chinese thermometers changing vote tallies in michigan is funny. the quips 'bout santa claus, the easter bunny and the bumbling kraken lawyers is funny. the problem is far too many don't realize or they ignore how dangerous close those b00bs came to achieving the unthinkable. not funny.2 points

and if the broomstick were to wear out 'fore the work end, we woulda' guessed azdeus didn't know how to use a broom. you live in an old house, yes? perhaps you offended the house gnomes. what is the proper offering for swedish house gnomes? pickled herring and mead perhaps? cream is always a good bet based on fairytales. 'course cursed by witches is always a possibility. problem is those witchfinders is as likely to accuse azdeus o' witchcraft. you a good swimmer? maybe give the broomstick a quick swipe or two with some fine sandpaper to remove any other splinters and then move on with your life is a better course o' action, but please keep us informed if you go with the witchfinder route. Yep, that is one of the potential tipping points the scientists have long been concerned about. In terms of risk, it probably ranks up there with a regional nuclear war or a Yellowstone caldera explosion. Perhaps not world ending, but pretty calamitous for everybody.2 points

Here's a very rough guide on how to add a new voice to Pillars of Eternity 2, without replacing an existing one. From the code side of things it's not too complicated, you'll just need 2 blocks of code. The main complication lies in creating the audio files and naming them correctly so that the game will know what to do with them. Go to the PillarsOfEternityII_Data directory, you can find this by default: Steam: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Pillars of Eternity II Deadfire\PillarsOfEternityII_Data\ GOG: C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Games\Pillars of Eternity II Deadfire\PillarsOfEternityII_Data\ Inside the override folder (if this doesn't exist, create it) create a new folder, give it the name of your mod (E.g. Something like “Custom Voice”, “Zealous Voice”, something along those lines but it's really up to you). Inside this folder right-click and create a new notepad file. Give it the name of your mod and put .gamedatabundle (no .txt) at the end. Open it with Notepad (or your choice of code editor) and paste the following template: { "GameDataObjects": [{ "$type": "Game.GameData.SpeakerGameData, Assembly-CSharp", "DebugName": "DEBUG_NAME_1", "ID": "GUID_1", "Components": [{ "$type": "Game.GameData.SpeakerComponent, Assembly-CSharp", "Gender": "GENDER", "ChatterFile": "936c726d-d219-4771-80bb-83dd61c16cce", "ExternalChatterVOID": "00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000", "ChatterPrefix": "FILE_PREFIX", "WwiseChatterEventOverride": "", "WwiseChatterVoiceOverride": "" } ] }, { "$type": "Game.GameData.PlayerVoiceGameData, Assembly-CSharp", "DebugName": "DEBUG_NAME_2", "ID": "GUID_2", "Components": [{ "$type": "Game.GameData.PlayerVoiceComponent, Assembly-CSharp", "DisplayName": 465, "SpeakerReferenceID": "GUID_1", "Conditionals": { "Operator": 0, "Components": [] } } ] } ] } Change the following: DEBUG_NAME_1: change to something distinctive to your mod. This way if something isn't working, you can easily search for errors in the output.log. e.g. “DebugName”: “SPK_Player_Custom_F” GUID_1: Generate a GUID and paste it over GUID_1 (inside the quotes). e.g. "ID" : GENDER: Put Male or Female inside the quotes depending on which gender you want the voice to be available for. e.g. “Gender”: “Female” FILE_PREFIX: Change to something short, something easy to retype and remember. You will use this later as the name of the folder for your audio and as a prefix on all your audiofiles. Don't use spaces in the name. Use_underscores_ instead_to_separate_words. e.g. “ChatterPrefix”: “player_custom_f” DEBUG_NAME_2: same idea as DEBUG_NAME_1 but make sure they aren’t exactly the same. e.g. “DebugName”: “Voice_Custom_Female” GUID_2: Generate another different GUID and paste it over GUID_2 (inside the quotes). e.g. For “SpeakerReferenceID” paste the first GUID you generated over GUID_1 again. e.g. "SpeakerReferenceID": Finally: Make sure everything you've replaced still has quotes around it. Make sure there are no spaces inside of the “quotes”. Save your file. Your finished code should look something like this: Setting up your Audio files: Now go to: PillarsOfEternityII_Data\StreamingAssets\Audio\Windows\Voices\English(US)\ and create a new folder there naming it the same as what you have put in place of FILE_PREFIX. This is where all your audio files will go once they are converted to .wem and have the correct names. The naming of audio files goes like this: ch_FILE_PREFIX_USE_NODE.wem E.g. ch_player_custom_f_confirm_0025.wem , ch_player_custom_f_battlecry_0028.wem There are 121 audio files that'll make up this voice. I've attached a .txt file that contains all the file names. For your convenience use Find & Replace (crtl+h) to change all the lines with FILE_PREFIX to that of your ChatterPrefix. I would strongly suggest that you create a work files type folder for your project outside of the game's directory. And that you build your voice in stages, so as to avoid burning yourself out. The voice should still work if there are less than 121 files, but there will be silence for actions where there is no corresponding audio file or if there is additional line. E.g. if there is only one audio clip for when you clicking on the character there will be gaps in-between the character repeating that line. You can test the voice at any time by going into character creation, creating an adventurer at an Inn, or by opening the customization menu on an existing character. When loading it is worth clicking on your character a few times till they say something before going into the customization menu as voices don't always immediately load. Finishing touches: Create a mod manifest as described by BMac. The versions that support this mod should be: "Min" : "1.2.0.0017", "Max" : "5.0.0.0040" Currently your voice slot has the name “Test” when you look at it in game. Adding a piece of custom text to serve as your voice's name is a little finicky as it requires adding an entry to the gui.stringtable file. You can find some information on to do this in a few places. Once you have done this open up the .gamedatabundle file you made and replace 465 with the numbers that point to your text entry. Vampire Princess Miyu OVA, Part 2: The Boy Who Wants To Be A Real Puppet. This felt a lot less disjointed than the first one, but the pacing is still sort of insane. There's barely any time for the storyline to breathe or the characters' motivations to be properly explored. It gets the point across but there's too much going on for the 25 minutes it has, I'd say.1 point

Yes. It's pretty good and I'd recommend it if you want to see something that isn't overtly fantasy or sci-fi.1 point

Ascendant/helwalker is the best combo for a caster cipher. Chromoprismatic Staff with Instruments of Pain is the most efficient way to recharge your focus because you can benefit from Swift Flurry/Heartbeat Drumming/Turning Wheel while attacking from range.1 point

@xzar_monty Maybe check some articles about Beautiful Desolation. I really do not know if it could be something what you might be into, but you never know. Indie game form South Africa IIRC.1 point

You seem to already know the best picks. Transcendant is my favorite. Helwalker is great. But another interesting option is the Forbidden Fist (at least with the Community Patch). Huge debuff to the enemy, who cannot heal and will have hostile effects (like Disintegrate) extended by 50%.1 point

To me, the best MC for ascendant is : Seer (Easy to ascend and the precision bonus of the hunter) Witch (Cast speed and zero recovery on kill) Bloodmage/Wizard (you can prolong ascended with WoD)1 point

It's a broom at work, but it is possible an angrey tomte/nisse followed me there. Vicious bastards probably wants my coffee or tobacco, he should be thankful for the porridge! Unfortunately I'm a pretty good swimmer, so I'm going to have to give the sandpaper or gaffatape a go. Problem is that my employer didn't get us a new broom until the old ones handle was literally down to two feet long and I couldn't use it as a remote control anymore, tape would be a possiblity though. Or if I could just get the skin on my palms to develop any kind of calluses. I'm pretty impressed that my palms still has babyskin practically speaking. I unfortunately also need it to be a wooden broomhandle since the plastic ones usually have a pretty thick handle, so it wouldn't work as a remote anymore unless I change out the pushbuttons for the gates.1 point

Seems possibly apocryphal; she was supposedly suggested to Edward Pickering by his wife as having skills being wasted as a maid (she'd briefly been a teacher in Scotland). He employed her to do some part time work and proving adept at that, Pickering taught her how to do observations and had her lead a team of (human) computers observing the skies. Her work - and that of the other computers - is currently being preserved so that scholars can actually study their observations directly after being rediscover in about 20 boxes.1 point

Finished Girls' Last Tour. It did indeed have robots, GIANT robots and of course GIANT MECHS, but no battles. Except for one series of flashbacks, but that's fine. Probably could have done without Yuu's extended skinny dipping in the aquarium scene. Chibi style and fanservice, nah, that's a combination that is... nah. Just no. Some of the scenes clearly suggest that the girls are a good deal older than they sound like or behave (fan speculation puts them at around 20, which seems a tad old). Good thing the anime stopped and didn't adapt all of the manga: Anyway, I mentioned it before, but this is a really baffling mixture of lighthearted and goofy nonsense, deeply philosophical discourse on the nature of life and the exploration of the dreary post apocalyptic wasteland of a dying world. Much of the time nothing at all happens and it's glorious to see (or boring, depending on your preferences and tastes, I guess). Beer is great, right Yuu? Anyway, there are two things that bothered me throughout watching it. The character models, of course, and uncanny valley CGI camera pans. My initial impression was pretty wrong, I figured after the first episode that the concept would get stale really quickly, but it didn't. There's something endearing about watching the two trek through a dead city trying to salvage enough food and fuel to continue. Both characters benefit greatly from the absolutely incredible performance by their voice actors, at least in the Japanese original. All the songs that come up, the intro, outro and the raindrop song, are sung by the VAs, not very surprising there at least when it comes to Yuu, who had a role in Love Live! after all (and those were picked from established j-pop singers). The raindrop song I already linked, here's the intro: They even manage to sing in their slightly slow, child-like limited speech pattern way in which they voice their characters.1 point

Trump Hawks Tacky Gold-Lettered ‘Trump Cards’ for MAGA Die-Hards sure, there is a spelling error and yeah, the whole notion o' selling trump cards is too silly to take serious, but... well, that is all we got. can't help but wonder if a graphic design person were having a bit o' a laugh and then were shocked when everybody said they loved the design. too late to tell folks they were being pranked? am thinking the eagle one would benefit from a nice SPQR.
