Just don't take Unbending Trunk (unless using my mod ) It's totally an overkill because of the weird way Unbending works : Basically, regular Unbending or Unbending Shield are far enough to keep you alive and will most likely overheal damages. Especially if you stand in a Fire Wall. If you want an upgrade, go Unbending Shield.3 points

not quite the same as the maid bit, but reminded us o' Rosalyn Sussman Yalow (1921–2011) "In 1977, Rosalyn Yalow became the second woman to win a Nobel prize in medicine for co-developing radio-immunoassay (RIA), a groundbreaking technique that uses radioactive isotopes to quickly and precisely measure concentrations of hormones, vitamins, viruses, enzymes, drugs, and hundreds more substances. The technique is so sensitive that it can detect a teaspoonful of sugar in a body of water 62 miles long." from her nobel bio: I was excited about achieving a career in physics. My family, being more practical, thought the most desirable position for me would be as an elementary school teacher. Furthermore, it seemed most unlikely that good graduate schools would accept and offer financial support for a woman in physics. However my physics professors encouraged me and I persisted. As I entered the last half of my senior year at Hunter in September 1940 I was offered what seemed like a good opportunity. Since I could type, another of my physics professors, Dr. Jerrold Zacharias, now at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, obtained a part time position for me as a secretary to Dr. Rudolf Schoenheimer, a leading biochemist at Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons (P&S). This position was supposed to provide an entrée for me into graduate courses, via the backdoor, but I had to agree to take stenography. On my graduation from Hunter in January 1941, I went to business school. Fortunately I did not stay there too long. In mid-February I received an offer of a teaching assistantship in physics at the University of Illinois, the most prestigious of the schools to which I had applied. It was an achievement beyond belief. I tore up my stenography books, stayed on as secretary until June and during the summer took two tuition-free physics courses under government auspices at New York University. one o' the great scientific minds o' the 20th and at numerous turns her family and s'posed mentors kept pushing her away from physics. is hard to imagine how much human capital has been wasted over the centuries 'cause o' stoopid prejudices. HA! Good Fun!2 points

I just really hate trash mob fights in general. Games ought to have an auto-resolve button that pops up any time you encounter an exact composition of enemies that you have successfully dispatched at least 5 times. If you press the button the enemies vanish and you get your obligatory 2 exp and 3 pennies.2 points

our world view is typical predicated on some personal reflection after reviewing academic sources and math. is why we laugh at folks who were hoarding toilet paper (and eggs o' all thigs) for a month or two last year and am similar dismissive o' the persons who shrug off the medical advice from fauci regarding covid. last year we saw some buffoonery when folks like the recent dead herman cain tweeted the 94% statistic, presumable 'cause the 94% observation meshed nicely with the covid-19 mitigation efforts are an overreaction world view. too many clowns felt validated by the number w/o understanding what it meant. didn't need fauci to explain the stoopid of 94%,shouldn't have needed. curious, nowadays fauci explaining why the 94% tweets were idiot bait makes 30% o' the country more likely to embrace the stoopid underlying the statistic. a funny video o' a guy narrating a real video o' the kinda stoopid which happens all too frequent on airplanes nowadays (duct taped guy were no doubt sharing the 94% statistic on social media last year) is worth a laugh even if the need to duct tape people to their airline seats 'cause they got common sense and know better is far less amusing. HA! Good Fun!2 points

Women are **** at penalties. Also a shame that Sweden lost, they were a better team. More shame that Canada won.2 points

I've wondered about the impact of this ability too in past playthroughs. On one hand its free extra DMG on those juicy disengagement attacks. On the other hand, with your kind of set up it's a bit of a win-more: if you're able to terrify your foes like that via Ryngrim spells or Caedbald Bow (potentially x2 with Phantom) you've basically won the encounter in most cases. The key question is: if you don't take this ability, what would you consider taking instead?2 points

Finished Girls' Last Tour. It did indeed have robots, GIANT robots and of course GIANT MECHS, but no battles. Except for one series of flashbacks, but that's fine. Probably could have done without Yuu's extended skinny dipping in the aquarium scene. Chibi style and fanservice, nah, that's a combination that is... nah. Just no. Some of the scenes clearly suggest that the girls are a good deal older than they sound like or behave (fan speculation puts them at around 20, which seems a tad old). Good thing the anime stopped and didn't adapt all of the manga: Anyway, I mentioned it before, but this is a really baffling mixture of lighthearted and goofy nonsense, deeply philosophical discourse on the nature of life and the exploration of the dreary post apocalyptic wasteland of a dying world. Much of the time nothing at all happens and it's glorious to see (or boring, depending on your preferences and tastes, I guess). Beer is great, right Yuu? Anyway, there are two things that bothered me throughout watching it. The character models, of course, and uncanny valley CGI camera pans. My initial impression was pretty wrong, I figured after the first episode that the concept would get stale really quickly, but it didn't. There's something endearing about watching the two trek through a dead city trying to salvage enough food and fuel to continue. Both characters benefit greatly from the absolutely incredible performance by their voice actors, at least in the Japanese original. All the songs that come up, the intro, outro and the raindrop song, are sung by the VAs, not very surprising there at least when it comes to Yuu, who had a role in Love Live! after all (and those were picked from established j-pop singers). The raindrop song I already linked, here's the intro: They even manage to sing in their slightly slow, child-like limited speech pattern way in which they voice their characters.2 points

Maybe not so much "too much defenses" as "more then necessary" - given use of CC, presence of offtanks, decent killing speed - and opportunity losses on not taking a more aggressive class instead. Been critted and taken a lot of damage myself. The only instances I've felt my chars unkillable/immortal (when fighting level appropriate challenges) were when using Unbending - preferably extended in some way.2 points

I guess it depends how you like to play. Some players like slow encounters and some like it fast. Crusader tanks cater to the first group.2 points

I agree. I felt this especially in red dead redemption 2... the game feels realistic, horse gets dirty, you have to eat. Yet you can get shot in the head 30 times, and you have to fight like 20 dudes at once. Why not just make your character more vulnerable and have less enemies... if you are going for realism. As far as dragon age goes, my character is a rogue so I just hide my way through the tedious battles.1 point

Such abilites are especially useful when you use a reloading weapon - you don't need to wait for reloading to finish in order to move away. You just cancel the reload and go. With other weapons you'd have to wait for recovery to end and than can already be too late. With those weapons I prefer immunity to engagement (or immunity to disengagement attacks) and Boots of Speed because you can always walk away at any time.1 point

I wrote in some other thread that you can also build a damage-oriented Crusader who does good damage (iirc I did some 170+ dmg hits with a Devoted/Bleak Walker with great sword bc. of the combination of lashes and Inspired Beacon - not to mention Sacred Immolation) and is still very sturdy (not main tank level of sturdy but very sturdy for a damage dealer). That's not boring at all imo. Sure, if you put everything into defenses it becomes a very passive character - but still very useful imo.1 point

@Torm51let me ask you, since you looks like a crusader fan. I always used to play as main tank , but in Deadfire I didn’t this yet, because I saw some people telling that is boring. I am planning a custom group run, and still hadn’t decided what I will choose. My question about the crusader is: is he capable to do damage, help the group in another way or he is just a wall? I would appreciate any advices to build one tank but with some utilities tongue group1 point

Yeah, they are meant to be used together. I've only tested my mod with community patch installed.1 point

Evasive Roll is a great ability. Escaping without triggering disengagement attacks is essential for a ranged build, and the quick inspiration lasts as long as the monk's swift flurry, 10 seconds base, and potentially much longer with INT and PL boosts.1 point

So I ran a bit of DMC5 on the card. Average FPS of 80, although the game was mostly at 100 once I disabled V-Sync. 18ms in the 95th percentile. As for temps and airflow, and tested a bit with closed door, open door, fans on low and fans on high. Not much difference. Stable 70-72 degrees, with the gpu at 99% usage the whole time. Of course, I usually play at 60 fps, so this is more than enough.1 point

Ya I’m with you on this one, it is a win more type situation. I’m not sure I will have room for it at 20 so it might not even be a thought. Not sure. I’m unsure on Unbending as I don’t need it atm but maybe it will be good for when I try SI. If I take Unbening I’ll take Unbening trunk and Stoic steel at 20.1 point

Funny thing isthat in PoE1, they could add Deathblow to spells (+100% damages vs at least 2 afflictions). They didn't have spell, but using scrolls and items, the could become temporary casters.1 point

Gambit does not allow to gain ressources, though. It is at best a potentially free attack (which is great). I can imagine that Gambit + Dual Mortars is pretty much guaranteed to get 2 crits every time. All you have to do is to switch to single target weapon set and spam Vanishing Strikes when necessary. And Blood Surge is... her... a bit meh for a Tier 9 (especially vs boss). Sounds too much like a win more for me, and kills are limited. The biggest advantage of SC Barbarian for me is what they can do for 1 freaking rage point. Driving Roar and to a lesser extent Dazing Shout are just that good, everything else is icing (barbaric retaliation is arguably a bit more that just icing). Now, I would say Chanters, Rangers and Fighters are arguably the hardest to make work as single classes. For chanters, I got the strange feeling that every crowd was able to reflect Eld Nary's bounce to my own party, and MC chanters can have most of chants and 3 Animated Weapons are good enough to spend your phrases anyway.1 point

If its to overpower for you then don't use it. See how simple that is. Devs don't need to change anything just because it feels to easy for you. Just don't use it and up your difficulty.1 point

it is from the same studio, so that makes sense. Probably a similar creative team. I can recommend Kill la Kill for the times when you need some sensory overload. It's still a pretty funny parody, anyway, and it does work for the 24+1 episodes it has, so that's fine enough. It just really kills your brain when trying to take everything in. Nui might have been one of the most batsh*t craziest weirdo antagonists I've ever come across. Sort of spoilers, I guess. In that case I doubt I'll catch up, there aren't that many episodes of Miyu anyway. That's fine though. I'll just quote myself, from some time back in May when I watched this episode. Current talk:1 point

Rangers also have an Escape-like ability named Evasive Roll. It comes a bit later though. It not only lets you move over the battlefield but also makes you quick (+5 DEX) which directly translates to attack and reloading speed. So a Ranger/Chanter can shoot even faster (not only because of Evasive Roll's DEX bonus but also due to the "Gunner" passive Rangers can access) and the accuracy will be higher, but the dmg per shot will be lower than Rogue's. With Driving Flight you can hit two enemies instead of just one with one shot. Actually I'm playing a Ranger/Chanter right now (Arcane Archer/Troubadour).1 point

It's more lightly amusing how things get framed. As mentioned, puritan came in a few varieties back in the day. But yes, puritans as a whole tend to be painted with more of an extremist edge in school over here. While it isn't a huge point made, it is briefly covered that one of the key issues to puritans leaving the rolling green shores of England to head to the new world was in part because how stressed they were getting over all the religious tolerance laws that were being put in place. Not that they were universally tolerant laws, but more an attempt to tone down the various protestant/catholic squabbles and just happened to cover a few other areas. But it's like anything taught. You get "one key element" and then they skim over a bunch of the other elements.1 point

I absolutely second that, actually forgot to mention it. If you want an SC Rogue without Assassin/Streetfighter/Debonaire shenanigans and associated maluses, SC Trickster is strictly better and it can do a million amazing things solo and in a party. My solo run with SC Trickster really opened my eyes to the potential of this class. I mean, a full-blown Rogue with virtually no downsides, who can cast some of the most powerful Wizard spells up to PL8 stuff? Yes please. EDIT: ok to be fair, I also love the Arcane Trickster in D&D . Ah, if only PoE Trickster could add Sneak Attack to spell damage just as his distant cousin from another dimension.1 point

Newt Gingrich: The left wants "to get rid of the rest of us because we believe in George Washington" "The anti-American left would love to drown traditional, classic Americans with as many people as they can who know nothing of American history, nothing of American tradition, nothing of the rule of law," he said. "If you go and look at the radical left, this is their ideal model. It's to get rid of the rest of us because we believe in George Washington, or we believe in the Constitution, and you see this behavior over and over again." *sigh* am knowing we mentioned the smallpox bit previous... How George Washington Used Vaccines to Help Win the Revolutionary War "By spring [of 1776] the condition of the American soldiers in Canada had deteriorated severely due to continuous outbreaks of smallpox... Approximately half of the soldiers were ill. The majority of the new recruits were not immune to the disease, and reinforcements sent to Canada sickened quickly." Becker recounted. "Contemporary evidence is overwhelming: smallpox destroyed the Northern Army and all hope of persuading the Canadians to join the Revolution." "Our misfortunes in Canada are enough to melt a heart of stone," John Adams wrote in June 1776. "The small-pox is ten times more terrible than Britons, Canadians, and Indians together." FULLY AWARE of the disaster in the north, George Washington realized that merely evading smallpox would no longer suffice; he wanted to prevent it altogether. Inoculation was already available, although the procedure -- called variolation -- was not without risks. The vaccines we're accustomed to today were not invented yet, so doctors would simply make a small incision in the patient's arm then introduce pus from the pustules of an infected victim into the wound. Variolation often resulted in a minor smallpox infection with a speedier recovery and vastly lower fatality rates, around two percent. Survivors were granted lifelong immunity. At first, Washington simply required new recruits to be inoculated. Then, in February 1777, he bit the bullet entirely. "Finding the smallpox to be spreading much and fearing that no precaution can prevent it from running thro' the whole of our Army, I have determined that the Troops shall be inoculated. This Expedient may be attended with some inconveniences and some disadvantages, but yet I trust, in its consequences will have the most happy effects." This was a bold move. At the time, variolation was technically outlawed by the Continental Congress, so Washington was openly flouting the law. Whole divisions were inoculated and quarantined en masse, a process that would continue for months. Strict secrecy was maintained to prevent the British from uncovering the program, lest they launch an attack upon the recovering troops. By year's end, 40,000 soldiers were immunized. The results were stunning. The smallpox infection rate in the Continental Army rapidly fell from 17 percent to one percent, prompting the Continental Congress to legalize variolation across the states. ... george washington might not be the founding father newt gingrich and desantis should invoke to defend their ignorance and stoopid. HA! Good Fun!1 point

You guys are crazy I play on whoa mode solo without mithridatism broodmother would be impossible it's bad enough if you don't perfect block you die from a single attack if you don't have enough smoothies to fully heal before the next attack, the poison would just insure death, if you find the game to easy play on a harder difficulty. I get that it makes it easy for a team but not everyone has friends to play with, or in my case want to have to be online all the time for others to play on my save.1 point
