  1. No, that's not it, the article is simply incomplete. The extreme time it took to process the case actually came from having to figure out whether tanks and anti-aircraft guns on their own constitue a weapon of war and therefore would fall under the Kriegswaffenkontrollgesetz (lit. weapons of war control* law). Turns out they don't. He was convicted based on the other items they found at his home. Machine gun parts, ammunition, the works. Donating the tank and gun to a museum or some other eligible collector is part of his parole. That should clear up any confusion. If he just had the tank and the AA gun he'd been good. Hence some other German being allowed to take the AA gun. *As in regulation.

  3. Right, my bad. He has to sell them as part of his parole (within the next 24 months), and probably because the court realized that they're not really get the fine from a 84 year old otherwise.

  4. No clue, he had permits from the local mayor, but it's illegal to own weapons of war in Germany, so I have no clue how another collector can have it. From what I remember they caught him when there was a nation wide sting to recover stolen Nazi art, but he didn't even get the tank from Germany, it's the British variant that he salvaged from Britain and restored it.

  5. Glad you have fun with it! Yeah I guess the Spiritshift component can be a turn-off, but it comes with several strong advantages. To your typo, I would love to see now a Spiritshift: Car or Spiritshift: Truck for an interesting Transformers vibe. Maybe @Elric Galad can make a mod. Touch of Rot is indeed a sweet addition and brings a nice additional DoT on the way to total enemy obliteration, once you've started debuffing FORT while applying DMG.

  7. I played SWOTR as well and obviously a Guardian But I was also into playing a caster as a Sage lol for some reason I thought SWOTR did caster well. im with you on PEN issues at max difficulty really throws balance to a wonky state IMO. Herald is great and I love tanking and healing as the MC if only I didn’t hate bards so much ahaha. Herald is perfect for what I like in this game. Healing tanking support. I’ll play one one day I have to. Although SC Paladin for pure support is not bad at all and his LOH is stronger plus the huge heal you get at PL9. The problem is zeal costs( @Elric Galads mod helps here) for all that so you have to put a summoner 100% in your party to make it worth to get zeal back from divine retribution. Maybe that’s not a problem but I feel like having to have a class to support another classes short coming stinks, you might as well multi the class that has the short comings. Chanter covers the Paladin weakness of high zeal costs for stuff by having unending resources. It’s legit perfect.

  8. I can easily see this falling into "young adult" territory, but I hope not. Robert Jordan was one of the few post-Tolkien fantasy writers of his time who managed to create a somewhat "believeable" fantasy world. For all its flaws, it's pretty similar to A Song of Ice and Fire in the sense that even very minor characters feel fleshed out, and with their own special motivations. Happy about Rosamund Pike as Moiraine, she's a very good actor. Daniel Henney seems like he completely lacks the gravitas to play Lan though.

  9. You said dual melee weapons, hm... How about a "Huana Mataru" Unbroken/Wizard with a spear (Stalker's Patience) and a club (Kapana Taga) plus Reckless Brigandine plus Whitch Mask (later Champion's Helmet)? Sounds weird? Let me explain: Unbroken have a nice passive that grants them a big bonus with Engagement/Disengagement Attacks: +1 Engagement and +10 PEN on diseng. attacks. Paid for with -10% Stride (nobody cares once DAoM is active) and -15 Reflex (counter with a self buff like Llengrath's Displaced Image if you must). Kapana Taga has the will reducing modal (-25 Will), dual damage (crush/slash) and neat enchantments - one that gives you +2 engagement. You are at 3 engagement slots. Stalker's Patience has a modal that gives you +1 engagement at the cost of lesser stride (again: DAoM), it does awesome damage due to the wounding enchantment and you can skip recovery on crit 20% of times (cool, especially with disengagement attack which have high ACC bonuses, also with Overbearing Guard). You are at 4 engagement slots. Reckless Brigandine gives you more dmg, AR and action speed based on health and/or on how many enemies you engage. That stacks with Mob Stance(!). You are at 5 engagement slots. If you take Hold the Line you'll get 6 engagement slots (not really needed but maybe good to gap the bridge until you get all the items). With Reckless Brigandine, Armored Grace, the Pet Abraham, dual wielding, Two Weapon Style, DAoM and Mob Stance you will be pretty fast, especially once you engage a lot of enemies. Now... White Witch Mask, why? It gives you +1 to all Illusions (and looks good with Kapana Taga/Reckless Brigandine and thus completes the "Hauna Mataru" look quite well). Illusions include stuff like Dazzling Lights, Miasma of Dull-Mindedness and the two terrifying Ryngrim spells. Now the Unbroken and Wizard parts come together: You gather enemies around you and engage them. You hit them a bit with the club+modal (-25 Will). You cast Miasma of Dull Mindedness onto the enemies (-40 Will -> now at -65 Will). You cast Ryngrim's Repulsive Visage. Now the enemies get terrified and try to disengage. Often they trigger hefty disengagement attacks which will be executed with Stalker's Patience (chance of skipping recovery). If they die you will get an additional Full Attack from Mob Stance. And so on... Disciplined Strikes + Merciless Gaze lead to a good amount of crit conversion. You can really mess up enemies that way, do CC and damage at the same time. And against fear immune enemies? Well you are still a proper Battlemage so you'll think of something. The most fun part imo is that if you summon an Essential Phantom it will also have +3 engagement from the Brigandine and the club. So you can both deliver disengement attacks. It won't have your modals and passives but it's still a nice addition. If you want you can even summon Concelhaut's Draining Touch and use it als main weapon instead of the spear - but in order to keep it you need to use a game glitch. But even if you don't want to use that glitch: on a phantom the Draining Touch weapon stays after hits and will not dissolve like if would on your own character. And the neat thing is that it has not only huge base damage but it targets Will instead of Deflection (and you reduced enemies' Will substancially before). Icing on the cake is Zandethu's Draconic Fury (spell from a unique Grimoire) at Power Level 7. It lets you terrify on hit and getting hit (and adds two potent lashes). Too bad it's on the same tier as Wall of Draining - so I'd recommend Bloodmage in order to gain that spell use back so you can cast both spells in one encounter. I didn't play this for a whole playthrough though so I can't say if it's fun all the way. I only verified the concept with a hireling during a normal playhtough and with the console + some random encounters. But I always wanted to play that concept.

  10. There, fixed it for you. Both China and Russia are about as fascist as you get. Big business is *tolerated* as long as they dance to the tune of the presiding autocrat, whether Putin or Xi. Russian billionaires who thought themselves safe are wetting their pants, fearing the knock on the door from intelligence officers. Chinese billionaires are "disappearing" after mock trial and sentence according to the new Hong Kong rules (basically, anything critical of the regime is a crime punishable by whatever we can make up at the time).

  11. Does it have to be strictly melee? Because Streetfighter/Wizard with dual mortars (Serafen's blunderbusses with AoE effect) is very potent. The modal Powder Burns triggers the Streetfighter passive at all times (no need for bloodied or getting actively flanked). You'll have two damage types (mortars deal pierce/slash) and the AoE targets Reflex instead of Deflection (Wizard has lots of debuffs for that). Also Expose Vulnerabilities and Combusting Wounds is great with dual mortars. On top of that the mortars' AoE apply all effects from Rogue strikes - e.g. Arterial Strike's or Gouging Strike's raw dmg components. The recovery bonus is also great for casting spells faster. And the mortars - like all blunderbusses - are rel. short ranged so it's not a super-ranged build either. Summoning an Essential Phantom with your two mortars equipped can be fun, too.

  12. in recent interviews and pressers, desantis has attempted curious tack to defend his inaction regarding covid-19 and the delta variant in particular: questioning the rising hospitalizations and almost certain near future rise in deaths is countered with an accusation of "victim blaming." by criticizing desantis, you are questioning those individuals who got sick. would a mask mandate, greater/earlier emphasis on vaccinations or enforced social distancing have prevented harm? such a question presupposes the increase in hospitalizations were amongst those who failed to be vaccinated, social distance and/or mask. is victim blaming, 'ccording to desantis. would be funny if it weren't so horrible, and am expecting fox to be parroting this nonsense forthwith. HA! Good Fun!

  14. Perhaps...but if I were like you in that specific regard, I'd most likely never start any new show ever again out of abject fear of being forced to sit through the entire thing. Nothing longer than maybe ten episodes, anyways, . Hope you like Miyu - I imagine it'll be primarily dependent on whether you like the titular character herself, . Will you be starting with the OVA or the show first? (I'd...probably recommend the show first, OVA second? The show is a bit more conventional.)

  15. PoE has the best iteration of bards. PoE has the best iteration of Paladins/"Dark Knight". PoE has the best iteration of druids. PoE has the best iteration of rogues. PoE has the best iteration of barbarians (more in PoE1 maybe, carnage has lost a bit of uniqueness). PoE has the best iteration of monks (though I like them more in PoE2, more ways to get wounds).

  17. LMAO correct! But you are 100% right I think they did great with the Chanter. Funny thing is my SC is never a chanter but I do have one the large majority of playthroughs (not this one) because they are so damn good in both POE 1 (LEL dragon thrashed you lose) and POE 2 (LOL I always have resources) so good. In POE 1 I had a 3 man crew double chanter and a Paladin on an POTD/ Ironman run and lol was that fun. Dragon thrashed, Dragon Wailed X2 plus Sacred Immolation. Everyone in plate with super high defense....lol un-killable and nuclear AOE damage it was nuts.

  20. It's legitimate. You want a guy in full plate who makes sure everybody's OK and who stops the enemy dead in their tracks with sword and broad before they can do any harm to his squishy friends. You don't want a dude with a guitar who sings his a** off while everybody else is going to war. But, in Deadfire that can confusingly be the very same character, all in one. TBH I've played very few Chanters compared to other classes I really like, because I don't dig the bard vibe. But I do acknowledge that 1) they make a powerful, versatile and fun combo with virtually any other class and 2) this is to me the most innovative character class implementation that Obsidian did. Sure there is Cipher etc. but it is very much like psionic-like classes in other universes. PoE's version of the bard archetype is truly unique IMHO.

  24. The nice thing about spiritshifting for this build is the lifegiver boost to healing as well as the cat flurry speed boost. When you really need this is for tough fights later in the game, prolonged with wall of draining. Before you get that spell, you can stay in kith form using whatever weapons and armor you wish. Not So Clever Hound's weapon and armor suggestions were for items that give you a boost at the very start of the game and which persist even when shifted, and which can be extended with WoD. So his build is based on the assumption that you will shift in pretty much every battle.

  25. Well, yes, for one the dinging gets annoying as **** after a while. Sadly have people calling me to do things for them, is funny when one confused me for someone else. They start berating me for things I supposedly said in some other meeting, was funny to remind them of who I am.

  27. Edit: Although I suppose the actual funny is that apparently the line in the script was written in English, and no-one really thought about the fact that Hiddleston can speak fluent Latin and classical Greek. He stood up and just did the lines in Latin, and the director thought it was great and rolled with it.

  28. That sounds fun! Never played it, oddly enough. My MMO experience begins and ends with Star Wars' The Old Republic. I agree that being an effective Tank is very rewarding especially as soon as you experiment higher difficulty areas/modes in a game, personally I've always gravitated towards Mage archetypes, the Sorcerer/Dragon Disciple D&D archetype being very dear to my heart. A very popular option is to bring a Chanter along and let the summons do the tanking (oh boy, they can do it well) and/or the likes of Wizard's Phantoms, Monk's doubles etc. as distractions. Frankly, my experience with both PoE's is mostly Solo but in any case I do think there's a big place in the game for shield tank archetypes - the strongest ones being Arcane Knight and Herald. Those can carry an entire team for the most part. Amen to that! Stat bloating is never fun, but I can also understand that in such a complex game, devs can't have the same flexibility to invent elegant difficulty mechanisms as an experienced DM in a tabletop campaign. But I agree on that particular point... I preferred the bosses in PoE1. EDIT: actually to me the most annoying bloated stat in PoE2 isn't HP, it's AR. PEN issues are very limiting in Upscaled PotD.

  32. Oh also In big boss fights I don’t find tanks that good in POE 2 but maybe they are? All the boss has to do is disengage. The Engwithin Colossus would not disengage even though my Unbroken disengagement attack would not of killed him lol. In POE 1 I would set up my Paladin tank as an Alpha striker with quick switch, FOD and two Arbalests so he had two huge hits per fight plus SI at lvl 13. the rest of the time he healed, provided support with Exhortations, added melee accuracy to allies and tanked. So it felt like he could make a difference by immediately slaying a dangerous mob that fought alongside the dragon or two shot the dragon itself (Alpine dragon gets owned by FoD and SI in POE 1) There was less HP bloat for bosses in POE 1 which I liked because they could be gibbed but they could also one shot you (dragons). I felt that was cooler than WoW/MMO type bosses of deadfire (I still love deadfire it’s overall a better game IMO ).

  34. So he's a collector and they're telling him he must sell or donate to a museum or a...collector? Yes, I assume they mean a collector outside of Germany whose local laws allow them to own the items, but you'd think they'd bother to point that out...

  35. Besides Powder Burns, a popular way of triggering Distracted is to have a Chanter cast The Lights Danced Across the Moor and have the upgraded Wisp target your Streetfighter. You can also Blind yourself but that is a severe penalty! I personally find the alternatives to Powder Burns too gimmicky. IMHO then you're much better off with Battlemage for melee. It gets better! Maje is a well-known grind on PotD. Do not despair, soon enough you will be stomping on everyone with relative ease. You can look for Maje strategies on this forum.

  36. Thank you for your replies! Yeah, only melee unfortunately. I considered a blunderbuss modal build and it looks insanely good, but it's not my cup of tea. Does Streetfighter get better tho? Would higher level defensive spells make it possible for it to stay bloodied consistenly or I'd better ditch the idea and pick fighter or rogue? Or is there any other way to trigger flanked? Like friendly fire spell or something? So far I seem to die often with Streetfighter/Wizard on PoTD. And overall game feels more difficult on PoTD than the first one. First Island feels like doing that temple of Eithas in Gilded Vale with 3 character on 3rd level all over again, lol.

  38. ps compare wotr with bg3 isn't something which has occupied our imagination, and am not gonna force our self to consider. however, am gonna recognize how after playing a few hours o' bg3 beta, we lost interest in the title. combat, story elements and larian 5e implementation in the beta all left us not wanting more. that said, am suspecting bg3 will sell well enough and fans o' d:os2 have been happy with bg3 from what little we has seen via the intraweb. is not shocking larian would make a game which appeals to the fans o' their successful previous title. smart. but for Gromnir... meh. bg3 beta were just meh. not a comparison o' the games themselves, but will observe we have already spent far more with the wotr beta than we could foresee us investing in the final release o' bg3. HA! Good Fun!

  39. am thinking wotr is solid in the running for best pathfinder crpg. is also possible wotr could be the least stable pathfinder crpg at release. the current beta may be worth playing up to chapter 3, beyond which crusade management is clear broken to an extreme degree. am not sure what is with nature and oracles as it were bugged but working previous. disallow the curious ac bonus stacking with scaled fist and am suspecting the bulk o' concerns is eliminated. from a technical pov, am not sure what the issue could be though. sure, is large numbers o' animal companion bugs, but nature is a verboten selection before the oracle has a chance to select an animal companion. while we had previous tested an admitted busted scaled fist/paladin/thug nature oracle, we were looking to experiment with a spontaneous divine caster benefiting from a level 1 animal companion build and not some kinda munchkin option. heck, we were even gonna go azata instead o' angel. positive: owlcat did address arueshalae's busted fe options. negative: their fix makes clear they is intending on keeping the curious magic/slaughter/strength split for the demon subset o' outsider favoured enemies. have not looked to see if the demonslayer ranger archetype, celestial bloodline powha and similar outsider based features remain busted in the new build, but am admitting we would be pleasant surprised if such stuff had been addressed. am hopeful wotr is mostly playable through chapter four by the time o' release. am fully cognizant o' the owlcat limitations in writing/storytelling and we got more than a few problems with pathfinder in general. wotr will not be fully baked at release-- nearing certainty. etc. our expectations is limited, so chances for disappointment, while nevertheless significant, is also limited. go out on a limb and suggest wotr is in the running for best pathfinder crpg. is as far as we go. HA! Good Fun!

  41. Aktually, Wizards in 5e cast like PF1 Arcanists, who can pretty much btfo other casters in PF PnP cuz they can change their prepared spells on the fly and chow down on potions or wands to cast spells at lvl 20. Based on the beta, that won't be in PotR. It won't.

  42. Supposedly Jeff Bezos told the showrunners: "I want Game of Thrones". I imagine he meant the quality and success of the first seasons instead of its ending. As @Maedhrossaid above, they will adapt part of The Silmarillion and that definitely draws my attention. However, I'm also a little concerned after hearing about some problems in the production, like actors and a Tolkien scholar leaving the show. They also hired an "intimacy scenes expert", so we know what part of GoT they are definitely copying. It already cost over a billion dollars, half of that just the price of acquiring the rights, so if it is not a success it will be an epic fail. With The Wheel of Time already filming its second season, I wouldn't expect any less for LotR. Amazon probably already committed to at least a second season.

  43. Perhaps you might consider a brute multiclass, perhaps Berserker/devoted. The reason for this is the Brute Force passive barbarian ability that allows you to target fortitude rather than will. Since the morningstar modal debuffs will, this means tons of crits for barbs wielding a morning star. Willbreaker is a classic barb weapon, and since it can debuff both fortitude and will, it makes the barb a great companion for spellcasters. But if you want to do devoted and a spellcaster MC using willbreaker, I'd recommend bloodmage or soul blade, since both wizards and ciphers have lots of spells that target will and fortitude.
