  2. My coworkers are really technically minded, even conversations are run with a handshake protocol. One guy messages me with "Hi...", I wait for the question or purpose, nothing. 2 hours later "Hi....", so I say "Hey" and then he says the question. Weirdos.

  4. I agree with Gromnir on this one. Facebook does not owe anyone anything. You are using their bandwidth on their servers for free. So you do it at their pleasure. They can kick anyone off at any time for any reason. They can edit or block posts at any time. Just like right here on this very forum. It’s actually kind of extraordinary that the way off topic forum even exists. It’s one of the most active boards on this website and it has nothing to do with obsidian, their games, or their business. That’s unusual in my experience. We are posting here on their site at their forbearance. They could kick you off just for saying you don’t like green eggs and ham. Personally speaking I have little use for Facebook other than business and of course to play chess for free. In terms of discussion and dissemination of news or current events I hear better conversations out in the hen house. Or here on WoT of course.

  9. There's a lot of things Violet Evergarden can make you do, but laugh is usually not amongst them. It's definitely the wrong material if you're in the mood for something funny. How far have you gotten, anyway? First episode? Because the first two are really slow, and the third one takes a long time to get anywhere, and then it suddenly... dunno. There's something about the ending of episode three that makes all the setup worthwhile. Although nobody's getting almost burned to death by a car that shoots gasoline like bullets. Heh.

  12. The trouble is, that the people behind Red Eagle are apparently involved in the movies, and it is going to be somewhat uninvolved with the tv series adaption. Screenwriter Zack Stentz (Thor, X-Men: First Class, Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous) will take on screenwriting duties for the first film. “I’ve been a fan of Robert Jordan’s work for many years, and it is especially his allusions to the origins and backstory of The Wheel of Time that I have always found most intriguing. I’m excited to be bringing this era Robert Jordan conceptualized to life,” Stentz said in a statement. “A fusion of the fantasy and science-fiction genres, the Age of Legends is a tale of paradise lost, as a futuristic Garden of Eden devolves into a dangerous and broken world.”

  14. am thinking you are looking at this wrong. often there is no good solution, and even if there is, all too often the precedent set today breaks things in unanticipated ways in the future. from our pov, the right question is as follows: who do you want making those necessarily imperfect choices 'bout what should be allowed on an internet platform? Gromnir and @Guard Dog do not trust the government with such regulation. gonna suggest bruce indulges a read Fahrenheit 451. get enough o' the right registered voters complaining 'bout the threat of antivaxers or muslims and all kinda limits may be designed to protect society from those threats. "enough" doesn't even need be a majority in the US system. do you trust facebook or individuals to make the right calls on such issues? if so, you are, from our pov, naïve to the point o' self crippling. again, am recognizing there is no good or even best solution, but am much concerned what happens if we put the hard choices 'bout liberties up for a vote. let biden, corporations and consumers put pressure on facebook. if people are able to shame facebook into changing policies, how is that any different than civil rights groups putting pressure on coca cola during the 50s and 60s? regardless, we don't trust US Presidents to consistent make the right call and those representatives o' our fickle democracy constitute the biggest threats to our liberties. HA! Good Fun!

  17. biden saying mean things 'bout facebook don't count as a first amendment violation, and suggesting the proliferation o' misinformation regarding the vaccine on social media platforms is contributing to the deaths of americans is hardly a controversial position at this stage. whatever. is amusing, but the only reason why facebook can play the role o' pontius pilate and claim it has no responsibility for that which is published using their resources is 'cause o' Congress and not the first amendment. Congress could, if it so desired, remove the immunity from litigation facebook enjoys regarding material third parties publish using their platform and doing so would not violate the first amendment. however, that act by Congress would most certain severe undermine the free exchange o' ideas via the internet. biden is pointing out the obvious and letting facebook and other maintainers o' internet platforms decide what to do 'bout it. is not a free speech issue. is a balancing quandary for facebook and others, but is not freedom o' speech from any legal sense. how much liberty to post dangerous mistruths is ok? ain't the government deciding but facebook, so is no government censorship issue. is a question o' responsibility and facebook is clear motivated by mercenary concerns as 'posed to the well being o' the american people... which doesn't necessarily make their relative hands off policy wrong. facebook has not attracted new users for a few years and as such they is desperate to keep their current pigeons fat and satisfied. increase moderation and their birds will fly away to other venues. refusal to moderate more aggressive is based on facebook's bottom line as 'posed to some kinda sense o' civic duty, but so what? Congress were not wrong when they first granted groups such as facebook immunity from civil suits. increase the responsibility o' folks such as facebook (or obsidian maintain this message board) means the free flow o' ideas would be diminished to some uncertain but no doubt significant degree. regardless, biden saying mean and true things 'bout facebook is not a free speech issue. HA! Good Fun! ps as we has said in the past, all liberties has a body count, whether you wanna admit it or not.

  19. They're not fantastic by any means, but they're way more efficient and effective than the Wii controls. And I can tell you as someone that tried to play the original on an actual Wii that not having to use motion controls to try to select things in menus is already a godsend and makes the game significantly less frustrating. Being able to skip cutscenes and speed up dialogue, not having to shake the Wiimote to do basic crap like go faster, being able to manually turn the camera instead of it always being auto-controlled...yes indeed, it's like the game is actually semi-playable now without a million different pointless annoyances that should've never made it past initial playtesting. You know what I really love, though? The sound of Link breathing heavily because that's what he does every time you hold down the A button to run for more than one second. And all these close-ups of characters' faces is enough to send shivers down my spine...

  20. Base Building: Is there a size limit for bases/buildings? I've been building darn near since the beginning and I've yet to run into an issue besides developers shifting environmental items on me, forcing me to build more and/or destroy some. As of today I'm done. Can I export my base so others can mess around with it or share it some how besides co-op? It would be a shame to let it go to waste. 21. Bloody hell, my sympathies, kidney stones are something I'm massively worried about. Oof, yeah, that sucks, I've had that happen with my car aswell, I had a headgasket leak but didn't notice it until I had stopped at a supermarket on my way home from work. I went in and bought a couple of things, and when I came out to start the engine it turned over for a quarter second or something and just jammed. Hydrolock. Popped the hood, the expansion tank was completely empty. I refilled it and went home and had my father come by the next day to help check, the tank was empty again... I cooked the engine and warped the engine head, so I had to get it milled, thankfully the engine block is cast iron so it had given basically zero ****s.

  22. I'll be curious to see a teardown of a Steam Deck once they hit reviewers hands. The main thing I'm wondering is if the SSD is soldered on the PCB or if it is removable and thus upgradable. You can increase storage with microSD, but even a top speed microSD would potentially impact performance.

  24. Still playing Assassin's Creed Rogue. Much like in Black Flag, the ship you sail is a brig. You can upgrade it and make it a really powerful brig, but there are limits to how many canons you can fit on a ship of that size. However, there is a short section of the game where they put you in command of a man o' war and it's GLORIOUS. Sailing through choppy waters while mortar fire rains down around you, another ship is coming around to ram you, smoke is everywhere so you can hardly see, and you desperately aim your cannons through the chaos and open up a broadside volley on the charging ship. The only thing missing: Seriously, Ubisoft, how do you not splurge for a Manowar track for that section, you cheapskates?

  27. Well that escalated quickly IMO…. The first two comments were all that needed to be said. Both stating your opinion which is what this forum is for… ideas and different views on ideas. Somehow you turned into snickers picking your idea apart and saying you were pretty wrong? Idk too much knowledge for me to understand apparently. Both of your input I’m sure is very helpful. Arguing about whose idea wins over the other… not so helpful. Too many critics of this game all wanting the game to be easier…shortcuts for everything. Hot keys for everything. Wanting everything layed out in front of them so they don’t have to kill or hunt for it. I myself like the challenge and the rush to switch armor or mutations when needed. But I’m pretty boring.. I wear one set of armor changing headwear as needed. My mutations rarely change unless I’m cutting grass or digging rocks. I have no troubles. I’ll show myself to the door

  28. Well, +3 PEN is better than +1, especially with spells - and the +2 also applies to spells that don't have the elements keyword. I even combine that with Heart of the Storm and such to get +4 PEN. And should you overpenetrate - well there aren't that many spell dmg bonuses anyway, so... Confusion is easy to counter. Use Svef (it's no problem to find/craft/buy enough Svef for every fight until you find a better countermeasure), some of the resistance food or get Devil of Caroc Breastplate early with some mechanics and enchant it with Mechanical Mind. One could argue that Helwalker/Fury would be better because he also gets Tenacious without the confusion and on top gets high MIG and INT (and besides the casting speed that's a valid point) - but in my case it's just that a "Fury" and "Berserker" just fit so well thematically. Like... fury & rage...

  29. I don't think I need either the Switch or Steam Deck to play slot or jigsaw puzzle apps, so ... nah. Not knocking them, I can understand/see their use. Such devices are not aimed at me is all. Speak for yourself. I'm the total opposite, where while I can use an xbox sort of controller, I can't stand their form, weight, or sticks - they make my hands hurt etc. Even before I became velcro-fingers. It's just an individual comfort. I always hear PS ones suck more re: breaking but I haven't had any issues re: ps4 sticks or buttons in 4+ years (I have 4), with 100s/1000's of hours of use. Maybe I'm just weirdly extra-gentle or something. Their rechargeable battery - how long before they don't hold a charge for as long - happens a little faster than I'd like, but dunno. The one I use on the PC I bought a long cable for it anyway so no issue there. I do wonder if having the buttons more directly to the side of the stick (Steam Deck) would be better for my trigger thumb/joint issues - so it'd be more of a slide over to them vs. (for me) a thumb stretch upwards. When the thumb has to stay almost ramrod straight, moving it over/upwards means sometimes sliding over the X(A) or square(X) button and accidentally hitting them while trying to reach for the triangle(Y) button. >.>

  30. We have a rule in place when using services, especially when they necessitate close contact, that you need to have a current PCR test, a certified vaccination or a certificate that you were infected in the past six months and recovered, i.e. when going to the barber shop for instance, or the nail salon... I'm pretty sure Bruce will need that vaccination for his dates with the hookers and strippers, so that kinda makes sense...

  32. Cardcaptor Sakura is definitely better made than Sailor Moon. You could argue that it's better made than most other TV shows ever created, both animated and live action. There are only a handful of episodes that don't measure up, and even they are good - not great, but still good, like the one where she was debating leaving the dash card with the one-off track & field character. Actually that might just have been the lowest point in the show in the entire run (let's not count Clear Card). Sailor Moon's average episode quality is certainly lower, also brought down by confusing and unplanned story arc episodes where the writers had to work hard to make sense of the source material. Cardcaptor Sakura, on the other hand, was by far and large (51 out of the initial 70 episodes) written by the same writer that wrote the manga. CLAMP are four people, and Nanase Ōkawa is their writer. Which in part makes the fall of Clear Card all the more baffling, and also the reason why I'm willing to give xxxHolic the benefit of the doubt. I'll just let that disappoint me. There's obviously a but coming (or "demo" as Sakura would say in the original ), and I've posted that before, Sailor Moon has a slightly different target demographic and could do (and did) different things with their episodes when it comes to character interactions. There are three brief moments when they're almost equal, the aforementioned episodes 43, 60 and 66. For 43 you get the distinct impression that both Sakura and Meiling have a five minute age up, but you'll see that when you get to it. Then there's 54, but it stands a little apart, because it's a sequel to episode 16 and might just be the best episode in the show. Or at least, it's Sakura at her very best. Yes, absolutely. To be honest I already loved Cardcaptor Sakura after the first few episodes, however, the one after which I was sure that the writers struck gold was the one where she uses the Shadow card to capture Silence at the museum. As simple as the contept is, it was pretty stunning to see it combined like that. There's also the ingenious way that the running gags are never used enough to become annoying, but frequently enough to be ever funnier. Toya showing up everywhere Sakura goes for instance. True. Cardcaptor Sakura - the original - is, to use the otherwise hackneyed phrase, quite frankly poetry in motion. It's fairly simplistic, but so was Sailor Moon (I'd say Sailor Moon has more sophisticated backgrounds), but it works perfectly when animated. It's a simple beauty, and something that's so completely lost with Clear Card. It also fits perfeclty with the voice acting and the sound design and soundtrack. Especially for Tomoyo and Sakura, but also true for everyone else. Heh. To think that you initially didn't want to watch it at all because the original English dub was so terribad. If Netflix* never does anything else, giving you the CCS recommendation in addition to the constant posting about it by me has done at least that. Wish I could take the credit for finding the show, but that goes to this particularily supernerdy anime nerd: Time coded to his recommendations, the part before that is quite frankly him getting misty eyed about Sailor Moon. Understandable, but unnecessary. I wonder what you'll say to the direction certain character interactions go somewhat soon. How much you will like the second movie massively depends on that. I did, and I stand by that. The premise is different, which isn't bad, because I think the original concept has run its course at the time it ended, but the seemless and easy way it integrated into Sakura's world is also gone with it. That's fine, mostly. Tomoyo gets to do certain things, so that might just keep you from re-evaluating. She starts the second arc as a bit of a flanderization, but once the arc finds its footing she's just great. Not really a spoiler but for effect: Not really spoilery question but potentially maybe (not bad even): *Technically we could potentially mention that forcing yourself through Madoka on Japanese made switching from English to Japanese MAYBE easier on CCS. Still grasphing at straws here. Do you get the impression that I feel terrible about this fiasko?

  33. I wouldn't say switching weapons to match enemies' AR isn't recommended. In fact I would def. recommend it. Bleeding Cuts is great against certain enemies but against the common mob it's counterproductive because the damage needed to kill a rel. weak enemy is applied faster without the modal AND you'll get more focus from the overall dmg you applied (because the dmg of Bleeding Cuts doesn't generate focus). Against slash resistent enemies I'd argue it's nearly always better to switch to a dmg type you can fully penetrate with instead of insisting to use Battle Axes' underpenetrating slash dmg + Bleeding Cuts. Because the raw dmg Bleeding Cuts does is based on the slash dmg you did and that can be pathetic when severely underpenetrating. What I said there is with the assumption that you don't use recovery-skipping effects and prolong them indefinitely with certain item effects (see Strad of Favor trick). Instead of switching dmg types (e.g. from quarterstaff to pike or whatever) you can also try to stack PEN and/or use weapons with two dmg types. This avoids switching in many cases. But dual dmg weapons usually have lower base PEN so it's not a no-brainer. Some weapon types who normally only have single dmg and decent base PEN have uniques who have dual dmg types. I found that the Morning Star is one of the weapon types which have a great mix of PEN and dual dmg. Also the modal can be very helpful for certain spells (e.g. Disintegrate, Killing Bolt and whatever targets fortitude). Willbreaker + Make them Flinch + Gauntlets of Greater Reliability is one of my current go-to setups because it lets you apply the modal to anybody eventually (miss-to-graze conversion), it has good PEN, crush/pierce dmg AND also lowers Will on hit which is kind of cool for a Wizard/Cipher. But I wouldn't advocate for making this your one and only weapon choice - at least not for a solo run... Soul Annihilation is great - but if you miss all your focus will be gone for nothing. So if you want to make SA you main source of melee dmg you should make sure you don't miss. There's one-handed weapons with high accuracy (e.g. Rapier + modal, esp. Rännig's Wrath or Kapana Taga with some enemies engaged or whatever). If you use them with nothing in the offhand it's a lot harder to screw up Soul Annihilation. At least in the early game where I find misses are very common and are very frustrating. Another way can be to use the modal of the small shield. You can switch it on for a shirt while to get the +15 ACC for your next attack (also works if you evade a melee attack by stepping to the side if not engaged) and then use that +15 ACC for Soul Annihilation. You can of course combine stuff like an accurate weapon with the small shield modal. This is only for the early game imo - or if you meet foes which are really hard to hit. Later on you have several sources of ACC buffs so often you can just use whatever (I mean if we talk about not missing Soul Annihilation). One exception is Sun & Moon - this is so good with Soul Annihilation that it's a viable weapon for the whole game imo. You get two chances to not miss SA - and if the first flail head hits, then the second one will generate focus already which is great, too. Citzal's Spirit Lance is pretty cool with Soul Annihilation because the AoE of the Lance applies different portions of raw damage to all enemies. The initial target gets the normal raw dmg of SA and then there's some internal workings at play that give different amounts of raw dmg to the enemies in the AoE. I suspect that those hits generate focus which will get dumped into raw dmg immediately (but you can't see that). Draining Touch is very good on a Wiz/Ciph because not only has it very high base dmg and does corrode dmg - it also targets Will instead of deflection. A Wizard/Cipher has so many tools to lower Will in enemies. For example you can use Kapana Taga in the offhand + modal and Draining Touch in the main hand. Modal lowers enemies' Will by 25. Miasma lowers enemies Will by another -40 (!) and then drop Secret Horrors and Ringleader... what isn't charmed will get annihilated by your (and your Phantom's) Draining Touch (+SA if you want). And even the charmed/dominated ones you can kill quickly. An insanely good weapon against all forms of vessels is Grave Calling. It can create a foe-only Chillfog that counts as weapon attack. That means the Chillfog will generate focus for you (fuel for Soul Annihilation all the time). It also has an enchantment that applies paralyze+ to an enemy if the sabre has done some hits. This also works with the Chillfog! So the Chillfog will generate focus for you AND freeze enemies in place as well. And the best part is that if a vessel is killed by the Chillfog it counts as weapon kill so that will proc another Chillfog. It can snowball into a cascade of death for all vessels on the screen (which are not immune to freeze dmg). Never forget your Phantom which carries the same items as you. Citzal's Spirit Lance * 2 is cool. With the example above (Kapana Taga + Draining Touch) you can also let your Phantom engage enemies (Kapana Taga can give +2 engagement, if you wear Reckless Brigandine it can get another engagement etc.). You can send it in to "tank" some enemies and then drop some terrify effect on them once the Phantom has engaged 2 or 3. They will disengage eventually and get hit by the Phantom's truck-like disengagement attacks. Not bad for a summon I think. You can also give it very protective gear and really use it for taking aggro for you for a long time - or even give it "suicide" gear so you can send it to enemies while you are invisible/stealthed/away - and when it dies it will explode with several AoE bursts (for items see Great Swords Effort, Mantle of the Seven Bolts or Cape of the Falling Star, Effigy's Husky...). This can be very helpful to thin out groups of enemies before you feel confident enough to face them head-on. It can also be useful to let that happen while you two are in the thick of it all since those AoEs are foe-only. There's the Shroud of Phantasm (cape) that summons 6 copies of you which have very low health. If you are in a pinch you can have 6 death explosions that might kill enemies around you and save you). Those copies also can cast all your spells (unlike Essential Phantom). Also - even as a Soulblade - never forget Mind Control. Stuff like Ring Leader is impacting the outcome of an encounter so much. It's like summoning a bunch of creatures who fight for you while taking out the same number of enemies. I can't emphasize enough how powerful that is. Combine with Phantom and you'll have a small temporary army fighting for you. Also here stuff like Miasma and club+modal can help a lot. Especially when using Brilliant Departure first and cast Mind Control on a bunch of enemies in calm. Then finish of the non-controlled with melee + SA or whatever. Tl;dr Wiz/Cipher is an incredibly versatile class combo. I personally would prefer Psion or Beguiler for solo (using Arkemyr's Brilliant Departure to stay hidden and cast CC like there's no tomorrow while my Phantom does the DMG) but that would be a totally different playstyle than what you are looking for I guess.

  34. Wartales is quite promising. I enjoyed the demo. You get to play 7 battles, then it ends. I guess it is Battlebrothers meets Expeditions (Conquistador (I disliked Vikings)). I posted a while back the comment by the devs how they took the battlebrother formula and implemented advanced leg mechanics. If you are looking at indy demos, you could also look at the demo for Gamedec. It's a cyberpunk rpg thingie.

  38. For me I guess it was Thor Ragnarok and I have to say I quite enjoyed it. However, I didn't enjoy it because of the giant CGI action scenes, but rather in spite of them. The performances of Cate Blanchett and Jeff Goldblum carried that movie. Cate is a terrific dramatic actress, but I enjoy it when she's in a role where she gets to ham it up a bit. As for Jeff Goldblum, he chews the scenery so ****ing hard in that movie and it's delightful.

  39. Speaking of Ranger + AoE: Am playing an Arcane Archer/Troubadour as hireling atm and I love her. Plenty of AoE - and the synergy between Sure-Handed Ila (which applies both its recovery and reload bonuses to reloading weapons) and weapons such as Spearcaster (+modal = great) or the Red Hand is great. But then... anybody tried Imbue:Web + Imbue:Eora with high INT, Driving Flight and Waterhaper's Focus and combined it with being energized (Their Champion)? If you shoot from stealth you'll apply 6 pulsing AoEs (3 webs + 3 pulls) with insane accuracy in a heartbeat. And all pulses will interrupt enemies if they crit. At the same time they can't move and get pulled together. It's just not fair. Also, with high Arcana very useful against hard to hit enemies because Imbue Shots get Arcana as accuracy bonus - and Spearcaster does that, too. I just leave the modal on . With SH Ila I'm still fast enough to prone-lock those enemies.
