  2. I'd rather be the team that's consistently good for 6 or 7 games than the team that's great for three, MAYBE FOUR games. Particularly at this level of the playoffs, where if you're an inconsistent team, you're more likely to be bad than good since you're playing against other top tier teams... This Bucks team can do anything. They could sweep the Suns given some luck and playing consistently; they could also lose the next three games to the Hawks, .

  3. I think the Bucks are the most talented team remaining (especially since I don't see Kawhi returning this postseason) but their performances are all over the place; they look unbeatable one night and super garbage the next. The Suns are playing the most consistently good basketball.

  5. I am in Vegas for 8 days. We are attending a danve competition for my daughter, so it isn't quite a vacation. We spend a good chunk of the day in a convention center. I love Vegas, but it usually just my wife and I. We eat at nice restaurants, drink in fancy bars, see shows, and relax at the spas and the pools. Most of that is not happening with the family. But we have had a couple good meals with the kids. Because we have to be at The Mirage from noon-9 most days, we end up fighting the casino crowds much more than I typically would. Getting to our hotel last night was not easy. Taxi stands were packed and the strip was a mess. Thankfully we are staying at a Residence Inn off the strip, so we get a bit of serenity before we go back in the maelstrom.

  6. Sailor Stars does some stuff that makes it more fun/interesting in different ways from previous seasons. Big focus on school stuff that arguably should've always been a part of the series (both for allowing many opportunities for silly school shenanigans but also helping keep the series more grounded in the face of more and more ridiculous alien/superpowered stuff); gets rid of Mamoru in exchange for a vastly more fun, interesting, and less weird Seiya; puts the (minor) villains in a bit of a different light, making them both more sympathetic and silly than I think we saw in previous seasons (also Iron Mouse was great and Tin Nyanko was surprisingly good for the short amount of time she's around, though I might be biased because their English VAs are like literally just about perfect for their characters; Lead Crow and Aluminum Siren are...rougher around the edges, but they have their good points too, certainly better than e.g. my favorite metaphorical punching bag, Kaolinite); actually has a really good main story arc...in the first six episodes of the season, the finale not as much but also not any worse than anything in the other three seasons that aren't SuperS (heck, probably still better than the rest, I can't remember e.g. anything of R's ending at all off the top of my head, while I wish I couldn't remember anything from SuperS). It does have its weaker points as we've discussed, but at least it did some of the different things it did well. I already have it, so I might as well, right? With the style of this show in mind and the fact that I most likely wouldn't last more than a minute or two of even the best episode of the entire series, I'm translating statements like these to mean "it was absolute garbage that would've lead to your immediate death if you had seen it", . Yep, that'll do it: Clear Card has been cancelled. It really doesn't help that all of the most popular stuff which dominates popular/ongoing anime discussion is exactly this sort of thing...or worse, . If there are any animes that would appeal to me that have come out...especially post-2010, I'm never going to be able to find them thanks to the absolute deluge of garbage sucking up all the air in the room.

  17. For now I'm just going to suspect it's some type of unexplained physical phenomenon. We didn't even know about sprites until 1994 or dark energy until 1999. We don't know anything about dark matter other than what it isn't, and we haven't fully explained baryon asymmetry yet. There are things we just don't know.

  18. Want to hear a funny story? I got the Whowzawhoopwhoop version of PoE and you get things like strategy guides as such (all as digital, nothing physical) - one of the things you get is a movie of how the game came to be - very cool and interesting, but you can also watch it on Youtube. Anyway, I thought I'd make some space on my hard drive by deleting some of this stuff - guess what happens if you do a file check on steam? Yep, it downloads the movie and all the other guff. lol.

  19. One of the great things in the season was the way they became friends with the Three Lights. Usagi bumping into Sailor Moon's Robbie Williams without her recognizing him was perfectly in character for Usagi and it makes sense for her to be interesting for Seiya. Taiki and Yaten are more exasperated by the girls than anything else, but slowly learn to appreciate them. The school shenanigans really took a backseat in R outside of the filler arc and S (studying for high school entrance exams aside), and disappeared from SuperS entirely. To be fair to SuperS, which is sort of hard, there was no school stuff in Eternal, and there probably is none in the manga either. It begins with the scene from early Sailor Stars where Usagi is happy that everyone made it to highschool, most surprisingly herself. Maybe the entire arc takes place in the holidays. It really did serve as a perfect counterbalance to the ridiculous scope of the threat in Sailor Stars. The earlier seasons were already bad, but Sailor Stars managed to up the ante even more. Came with a lot less focus on ridiculous monsters and the loss of other things, like more Outer Senshi or maybe a bit more of the cats. Guess that wouldn't have been possible with the format, but Sailor Stars could have benefitted from an extra five minutes of runtime per episode. One of the best things that happened during the adaptation of the manga, but really also a side effect of the show almost cutting him out entirely after the first season. A bit more balance might have been nice, looking back. The manga and Crystal with it had way too much focus on Usagi and Mamoru, the anime had, at times, too little. We have "fated to be together", then "fake breakup" and then... nothing, until the end. Nothing except SuperS. Ugh. Overall however, a pretty good decision. In Crystal I always got the feeling that Usagi and the others stand a bit apart. They're always doing things without her, and she's off with Mamoru. At the end of the first arc they're even fighting separately. The biggest problem with Lead Crow and Aluminum Siren was the amount of screentime they got in the episodes where they showed up, before being blasted apart by Galaxia or sucked into a black hole. Iron Mouse had more episodes, and Tin Nyanko got to do more (like stalking the girls in disguise), but AS and LC got exactly that run of episodes where the writers just went "ah, screw that" and gave them like 30 seconds per episode. I also liked the way they just all left whenever it became pointless to stick around, with the Sailor Guardians complaining about it. "I am Sailor Moon, and..." "Ok, baaai!" *TARDISES AWAY* but technically that's not entirely original either. Eudial/Eugeal did the same. How can you say that you forgot R's ending? Black Lady and DEATH PHANTOM were awesome. Even awesomer in Crystal. Eh, yeah. DEATH PHANTOM was certainly the least interesting of the Sailor Moon villains, and that includes a cosmic horror being with no dialogue from the next season. However, and I'll say that for R, Saphir's death and Petz' reaction to it certainly ranks amongst the more emotional moments of Sailor Moon. It really is better watched in between than at the end of the show, like I did. I didn't enjoy it as much as the anime proper or the second film, but coming back to the show from an extended break would be the ideal time to go for it, I guess. There's something endearing about an Usagi style character trying to form an idol group, but that's pretty much the only thing this has going for it. It's enough to keep me watching without hating it, which is a plus what with having to finish it now that I've started, but I doubt it would be for anyone else in this thread. Except maybe Hoonding. He'd probably make ten thousand memes out of it. Ah, and I was so looking forward to discussing it with you.

  20. Not really sure if there is much to say about this?... more like just eye rolling https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-57624942 "Classified Ministry of Defence documents containing details about HMS Defender and the British military have been found at a bus stop in Kent. One set of documents discusses the likely Russian reaction to the ship's passage through Ukrainian waters off the Crimea coast on Wednesday. Another details plans for a possible UK military presence in Afghanistan after the US-led Nato operation there ends. The government said an investigation had been launched."

  22. They are very viable. Seven Nights can just hit the same enemy multiple times if it's big enough. It's obvious if you play solo, because summons are just meat shields for dragon thrashed and seven nights. In party play you can play with different invocations for buffing heal / attributes, but not if you want to solo the game.

  23. But why? It's just Usagi on a ferris whe... oh, wait, you're talking about the Love Live! opening credits. Love Live!, so far, has been... less ungood than I expected, but not enough so to really recommend it regardless of it's presentation. I'm not sure how this got so popular. The fanservice is there, but not good, frequent or well integrated enough to be the primary reason to watch it if one likes that sort of thing, the character interactions are sometimes fun, but not enough so, and probably most damning of all, with the band apparently eventually getting nine members, there are too many characters to handle. The episodes so far were at their best when it was just Honoka, Umi and Kotori trying to get their idol club started. However, to be completely fair, I don't hate watching it. Which is really unexpected. Honoka, Umi and Kotori also make a pretty okay Freudian trio (tm), which is probably why their interactions are better than the others. However, good news, I just read that episode 10 is the beach episode. This is going to be great, I'm certain of it. Beach episodes are always the best.

  25. the name sounds familiar. am recalling obsidian had a diva developer who quit and then spent the next couple of years making increasingly venomous insinuations 'bout his former employer's malfeasance. didn't the developer in question have a similar grand revelation 'bout the wrongs done to him by his previous employer? am vague recalling an immature rant which we suspect were intended to have the aggrieved developer take the role of diogenes in his own imagined greek drama, but reality were underwhelming and as such we have difficulty recollecting much 'bout the guy save that regardless o' his accomplishments as a writer, am left with fuzzy memories not o' a tragic and heroic figure but o' a petulant bridge troll who chose to make his revelations from the depths o' a fetid bog, lamenting the injustices he suffered to the snarks and grumkins who lurked in the most stagnant and odious corner o' the gaming internet. but that were more than five years ago... oh well. am probable misremembering, but am not caring enough to revisit beyond this brief attempt at recalling an increasing insignificant display o' internet self immolation by a now marginal crpg developer. HA! Good Fun!

  27. I finally have the Italian DVDs for Sailor Stars. A bit late on the draw, but better late than never. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/lwuvg342kpllqdx/qSUjYSLW7M.mp4 ...It's not season 1/2/3 still, but at least it's not the disgusting smeared mess that are the blurays. There are actual lines! Strong and consistent line-work is one of my big things for art styles, and upscales like Sailor Moon's blurays absolutely demolish all of the line-work in an already pretty shaky Sailor Stars. P.S. Once I finish the last handful of episodes of Ranma, I should be back on Sakura, I THINK.

  31. Okay, Bucks, now look at me - look deep into my eyes, directly into my soul, and take heed of my words: please keep playing like a team that isn't completely pants. Thank you. This may surprise you, but you don't have to play like...well, like you don't how to play basketball. It's absolutely wild how different of a team the Bucks look from game to game depending on whether they have their heads screwed-on right on that particular day.

  33. One more thing I would like to add on this topic: Organize buildables into categories - E.G. Grass-based walls/floors in their own category; Stem-based walls/floors in another category, and so-on. Otherwise, as we get more and more pieces, it's going to be endless scrolling trying to find the right one.

  35. Late for the party - but here goes! I absolutely ADORED the PoE series. The first game is actually my favorite of all time - and that comes from someone who has been playing computer games since I was old enough to hold the computer mouse. *Literally.* Thing is - I played both PoE and Deadfire for the first time *less than 6 months ago.* I do not have any real nostalgia associated with the products (although, I certainly feel nostalgic listening to PoE music tracks on YouTube), as I was late for the CRPG party overall and been playing everything from BG2-3 (EA), DA:O, DOS2, Tyranny, Pathfinder: Kingmaker and, of course, PoE since fall 2020. And, like I said, PoE was by *far* my favorite (not just among CRPGs, but OVERALL) - and that is although I sincerely enjoyed each and every one of these titles. My heart broke a little when I wrapped up the series to move on to Pathfinder: Kingmaker (I had the post-series depression for days). It might be because I come from an ARPG-heavy background - with a lot of games like Diablo, Grim Dawn, some Path of Exile and Wolcen - but eveything about PoE(1) rubbed me the right way. The main plot felt personal, with a moderate sense of urgency instead of "yeah uhm, doomsday is near - but imma solve your pity squabbles anyways" (like stated in the comments above). I enjoyed the combat (despite having a poor history with RtwP since DA:O that really had me struggling), I absolutely adored the available voice acting and I would any day prefer that kind of quality over full VO, I loved *each and every single one* of the companions of PoE(1), the music was so beyond next level that I have an entire playlist dedicated to Justin Bell, and I did every single companion quest line during my very first playthrough. Cannot say I did the same for Deadfire. Deadfire was a good game in many aspects - especially regarding combat (and multi-classing <3), the small "book"-events that even included individual characteristics of the companions (loved these sooo much!), well written romances (although disappointing endings to them, imo), continued amazing companion interactions (their monologues that pop up during quests and events) - and of course, yet more amazing music! ... But I also experienced a lot of issues with Deadfire that never occurred to me in the first game. Like the very long intervals of dialogue silence during side quests (as companion dialogues only would pop up after progressing the main story) - which lead to the remarkable time of *13 hours real time dialogue silence while I wrapped up some side-content*. Then once I proceeded with the main story - ALL of my companions wanted to chatter at the same time (right in front of our enemies!!). That left me very annoyed and "un-immersed", and quite honestly? I struggled picking up the immersion in general after that (this must've been around 30ish hours in). The ending also left a rather sour taste in my mouth - and without giving any spoilers I just felt like I didn't get the option to explain my reasoning to Eothas properly and that the game read my motivation all wrong. I mean - I felt like my choice of action (and reasoning) was anything but unique and mind blowing (judging by previous commentary), yet the writers did not seem to account for it at all - although they included passages that were much more complicated / elaborate (which is a good thing! I just wish they would have any reasonable response for people in my seat). Either way - the way Eothas interpreted my actions, and (more importantly) the lack of proper explanation-options from my side had me salty for WEEKS! Anyways, back on the main subject - I also watched the "Breaking the mold"-presentation and read many of the interviews with Sawyer - and they break my heart. It saddens me to see Sawyer's apparent disappointment in a, imo, not just great but FANTASTIC game series. I remain hopeful for a PoE3 - and I'd be willing to wait more than 10 years if that is necessary. HOWEVER, I only want PoE3 if the developers come back to it with the same love and effort that radiated throughout Pillars of Eternity (1). Otherwise, I'd prefer them to leave the two games as they are and have the developers move on to something else that they can properly fill with genuine love and attention - no matter how saddened I'd be. I get that the investments require success because... Well, companies need money to not bankrupt. Especially since they nowdays are with Microsoft that really want to maximize their profits. But I really, really, really wish that the developers could see PoE2 not for what it became (which is not a bad game by any standard, even if it did not reach their expectations), but rather - the absolutely AMAZING game that it could develop into if they just gave it some time, love and thought. :[ I also very much hope that Obsidian realize that a huge blame for the poor start was due to limited marketing! I would have bought the game in a heartbeat, had I known about it at the time... But alas - I did not, and I arrived many years later as a result. Deadfire might not have been perfect - but nothing will ever be when you choose to experiment with new techniques and get rushed the way they did. It was overall a great game - and more importantly, it pawed a good path for a PoE3 with the data that you acquired from the successes and failures of Dreadfire. Sorry for the long post - I just feel very passionate about the entire series as they, imo, make the best CRPGs in the market (from someone with no nostalgic bias :] ).
