  3. This is the first patch I ever got. But most of us didn't know what a patch was. And depending on our country we may not have had access to them even if we knew about them.

  4. Yes, given Jayd's third point it is clearly important to plan out what your first phrase out to be, since it will get repeated very often. I too usually end up with two songs, one offensive and one more defensively oriented, but I never realized until now how important the order is.
    2 points
  5. yeah what i didn't make explicit in my post of example songs is that the third song is a "nice to have" esp for a skald (come, thick, [the third one which is so incidental that i forget]). if it happens, it happens, and if it's something like "thick grew their tongues" then all you need is one or two procs to have a lasting impact on the battlefield (in the case of come, come, it's some helpful drip of regen throughout the fight and for that build can also trigger interrupts). but the first two songs are the ones you want (almost like a power scale - the first song super important, and the second song like half important)

  6. i have nothing that's really skald-specific. it's more setups that emphasize the first song in particular, for the same reason that @Jayd pointed out in #3 (skalds are more likely to reset their chants than others); I haven't built like a wildrhymer or harbinger or some other setup that really leans into the skald's melee martial focus. (i've used konstanten as a howler, but honestly i think his stats suck too much to be a good howler or skald) my personal skald/theurge's favorite song was: the fox from the farmer... -> the long night's... -> come, come... This only worked because I had a lot of disengagement-related bonuses, so I could get a pretty steep like 80-pt swing in enemy accuracy, it'd also be the first one to activate after an invocation, or switching chants. long night's combos into come, come. i also had side chants for resistance songs. in my current party, i'm building tekehu as an SC chanter that has more of a tanky focus, and a couple of songs I set up: silver knight -> ancient memory -> thick -> ... with the intention eventually of doing something more like silver knight -> the arrow sings -> with all your strength -> ... i also have another song that's like her courage -> ancient memory -> [i forget]... and various resistance songs. it's not very skald specific, but the principles would work well with a skald. If I'm in trouble, I switch out of "tanky mode" and put on the "her courage" one. By being the first song, I instantly get a 10pt damage shield, and a few seconds after that, get a regen effect. As a skald, it would work better because with mroe frequent invocations, you'll refresh the damage shield more frequently and get closer to 100% uptime on ancient memory even with a third song in there. You can also switch to resistance songs. I've mentioned in another thread that I really really like "One Dozen" (con/res resistance) and there's nothing quite like it activating, resisting down a terrify/frightened or a weakened, using an invocation, and then a second later, having the song reactivate and have everything resist down to nothing.

  9. Like China? You mean like labor camps, secret police, making dissenters disappear? The Soviet union was pretty excellent at those things too. You don’t really think a society that supplies a minimalistic standard of living where no one goes without but few prosper is worth a few unmarked graves do you? At what price do we sell agency over our own lives if the society you seek demands that as payment? you are not a hard hearted man. You do not desire to see the rights and liberties of the individual citizens curtailed. But I do think you would be willing to exchange that for some thing. And if you did I think you would find the free bread provided by the state would be the most expensive meal you’ve ever purchased.

  11. Hi @Haplok thanks! A couple thoughts: With all the +CON permabuffs available and of course Berath's Blessings, I found that actually even at minimum CON I could still have about 250 health by end game, which isn't great but not totally terrible either. When I truly need Blood Sacrifice, it's for a fight of attrition anyway so I could still potentially use PotFS + WoD. Regarding Ninagatauth's Freezing Pillar and other pulsing spells, in RTwP they will break stealth/invisibility every time they pulse so for this particular toon I'd rather stick with burst DMG spells - but of course Freezing Pillar is one of the strongest spells in the game. On a side note, I've realized that you can time a Delayed Fireball and a Blackflame for example to explode at the same time while opening from stealth, in which case they can both get the Assassinate bonus (!). Finally with Deltro's Lash and Delayed Fireball I've delivered damage per target in the range I mentioned above, going fully Solo. For the few really hard fights in end-game I totally agree that it's not game breaking but it trivializes a lot of otherwise annoying encounters as you can one or two-shot 99% of enemies. In RTwP it is very strong with a ranged Assassin as this type of character works best with an opening from stealth then 1 or 2 follow up attacks from invisibility before resetting the fight.

  12. Disclaimer: My experience mainly comes from Turn Based mode, my Bloodmage advice not be true for real time. That said, I wouldn't recommend dumping Con as a Bloodmage. Unless you're not planning on using Blood Sacrifice much. But then maybe another wizard subclass is better? Bligtheart is good. Magran's Favor + Sun & Moon less so, personally I've used less and less Fire based spells as I progressed trough the game. Generally Minoletta's Precisely Piercing Burst (Piercing) outclasses them. Other key spell was Ninagauth's Freezing Pillar (Cold). For Turn Based also Ninagauth's Death Ray (Raw), but that's less useful in real time, I guess. Engoliero the Espirs was a fun weapon to use in Turn Based. Not sure if it would work quite as well in real time. As for 500-800 damage crits, I think those are only possible with a Ranger companion Takedow Combo or Paladin Inspiring Beacon? These are strong, but hardly game-breaking, I've thought. Many enemies are such terrible bullet sponges... In fact nuking in Turn Based would feel kinda weak without those.

  15. Not quite. Nikita Krushchev (a Ukrainian) transferred Crimea to the Ukrainian SSR in 1954* so it was well before the USSR broke up, though at that point there was no practical effect at all to the transfer. The proximal issue though with the USSR's break up was that Crimea had voted the previous year to leave Ukraine but that never got properly applied. In 1994 the Crimean parliament and presidency tried to formalise them leaving as had been confirmed in the initial referendum and a subsequent one, and Ukraine sent in 70,000 troops in to crush it and abolished its autonomy. So yeah, Ukraine's actions were not exactly democracy in action but rather the reverse. *much as Georgian Iosef Jugashvili transferred Abkhazia and South Ossetia to Georgia despite them not wanting to be part of it 20 years earlier. Always amusing to see people defend Stalin and Krushchev's decisions in those cases who'd never dream of defending any of their other decisions just because it suits them geopolitically.

Of course, those blessed with the ability to, uh, read know that Snowden got stuck in the Moscow transit lounge after the US cancelled his passport and while en route to [not Russia]. For some reason he just didn't want to go through any vassal states, perhaps because he weas worried about his plane being forced down. Ironically, if the US had let him get to Bolivia he'd probably have been handed over last year by- 100% democratic, 0% coup and 0% fascist- Jeanine Anez.

I’ve got cherry tomatoes and romas growing in the green house. In two weeks planting green beans and salad bowl lettuce. They have a shorter growing cycle. Trying to time this so every thing is ready at the same time. Now we wait

  20. So, with the corona and all, I decided to start the game again, as it's clearly the best one around at the moment. And I also decided to give myself a proper challenge, ramping up the difficulty. Whoa. And I couldn't deal with it. I mean, the digsite is just too much. I tried using the clearly designed choke points and so on, but both the boar (in one of the fights) and the drake (in the other) were too much for me. I'm clearly not good enough. So I decided to take the stealthy route, entering the sub-level and finding Oderisi there so that I wouldn't have to fight any battles at all. Gorecci Street: ditto. I took the south route to avoid the battle altogether(*). And then, after leaving the first island... no problems. On the same difficulty level. I've done Fort Deadlight (no problem with the guards at the undergound docks -- I was able to use the gunpowder barrels to my advantage), Purakau and another bounty encounter. It's not exactly easy, but it's not difficult, either. I have to say this is slightly peculiar. I can't think of another game where the beginning is just incredibly difficult but everything gets so much easier immediately afterwards. I can't help but think that Obsidian made a bit of a mistake here. Of course the game is still great. (*) In other words: I was able to keep the difficulty level only because of my meta-game knowledge in both encounters.

  21. There's several. Imo a fantastic single target sniper build is a Troubadour/Streetfighter with an arquebus. Here the key isn't high accuracy but incredible reloading times and dmg per shot. If you have trouble hitting stuff you can enable the arquebus modal. You will be slower but still fast - compared to other gunners. The trick is to summon Whisps that simply fire at your character. They do little shock dmg. But they also distract on hit which is what the Streetfighter needs to unlock his "heating up" bonus of -50% reloading time and high Sneak Attack. Once those shocking bolts lowered your health to bloodied you will become "On the Edge" and get higher crit dmg. At some point you should stop obviously. I imagine the character as an animancer sniper who gets boosted up by his own essence batteries. You can also wear Deltro Cage Helmet to profit from a small shocking lash the whisps will give you. The "loading up myself with essence" thought really helped me to get over the cringe to fire at myself. In addition to the very strong recovery bonus you also profit from Sure-Handed Ila and Aefyllath Mith Fyr. Funny thing is that Ila applies both +20% attack speed AND -20% reload speed to the reloading process. On top of the Streetfighter passive this results in fantastically short loading times. I personally used the Red Hand but any ranged weapon works. Non-reloading ones will only profit from +20% attack speed though. Pistol's and Hunting Bow's modal won't stack with Sure Handed Ila iirc. Also with reloading there's some hard cap - so it's not worth to stack too many reloading bonuses. I guess against non-pierce immune foes Red Hand is best. The shorter range is not super "snipey" of course. Anyway: the single target dmg per shot and the shooting speed is nuts. Best used as human imo. Needs several levels until you get to the Whisps. --- Arcane Archer + Bleak Walker with Spearcaster is not about speed but about high accuracy and overall usefulness. With Eternal Devotion + Ring of Focused Flames you'll have an elemental +20 ACC + Arcana-ACC attack which doesn't get the malus from Arcane Archer (because elemental) and which leaves you with a lash that you can use for your Imbue shots. Those will have twice the bonus from Arcana (on top of all the Ranger ACC bonuses and Zealous Focus of course). Besides that the char can heal very well (Lay on Hands) and push his Animal Companion (Exhortations). Works well right from the start and you can get Spearcaster very early. Due to the many high ACC attacks you can hit every enemy reliably. The arbalest can interrupt with modal who can be extremely helpful against bosses and casters. Race doesn't matter much. --- Streetfighter/Berserker with Essence Interrupter. Again this is about speed, not accuracy. Use Hunting Bow modal at all times. First Frenzy which will speed you up and gives you +2 PEN. It will also push you over the bloodied edge which will unlock "Heating Up". Don't Frenzy further (lest you die) but let Blooded (+25% dmg) and Heating Up take over. Bloodlust and Blood Thirst speed you up even more. Barbaric Smash is an awesome finisher. This build works very well on AI scripts as an automated turret. The shooting speed is insane. Even if you miss from time to time it's not a big deal because you shoot so freakingly fast. Works like a charm from level one on - which is very cool. This one went through Gorecci Street and Digside (as hireling) like a hot knife through butter. Felt like story mode... Just don't draw focus fire on you. Race: human is nice. --- Devoted/Sharpshooter with St. Omaku's Mercy or Veilpiercer. Here it's about crits. Driving Flight, ACC and crit conversions are key. You want to land crits as often as possible in order to trigger the recovery skip on crit. You should focus on low deflection enemies that stand together in order to increase the crit chance per shot. If you do that you will skip recovery very often, giving you great dps. The +2 PEN and crit dmg of the Devoted help. Also Disciplined Strikes of course. Penetrating Strike is a nice alternative to the Ranger's attacks. Also this guy works very well on AI. Race: Hearth Orlan would be best. --- Those are ones I played for some time. I'm sure there's more awesome stuff like Ranger/Cipher or Ranger/Helwalker crit builds with Frostseeker and so on - but those I only tested a bit with console or didn't even try them at all so others will have better insight on those. PS: There's even a melee sniper with Monk + Instruments of Pain + reach weapons. It comes very late but the range is 11 meters with all the melee goodies.

  22. Okay I will look into the accusation that Ukraine annexed it from Russia after the Cold War Because I dont support any illegal annexations unless really justified, and I cant imagine this Crimea example being justified, but I need to research this further. I will get back to you later because I need to work now
    1 point
  23. Why not look at bit deeper at the issue? The problem isn't that Russia annexed it from Ukraine, but Ukraine annexed it from Russia during the breakup of the Soviet Union. It doesn't compare to Spain and the Basque people (edit: I confess to know too little about the Sudan issue to have an opinion). Of course, the western countries decided that this was bad for Russia, therefore it was a good idea and supported it immediately, not giving a damn about consequences (or the people living in Crimea). Never mind that it had never been part of a country named Ukraine. Edit: I think the US would be unwilling to hand over annexed territories like Texas and California to Mexico

  24. That was your rather nonchalant dismissal of the idea that the people Crimea should have any say in their future and your rationalizing of why democracy is only for the select few. That was probably when I took a rather dim view of your attitude towards things that matters to me, like the right to self determination of your future. Things didn't improve when you showed yourself very enthusiastic about the idea, that the military should be exempt from scrutiny by elected leaders. Especially since we're not talking about all out total war, but tit for tat low profile warfare where strikes that doesn't have collateral damage in innocent lives lost is the exception rather than the rule. Last what I consider hypocrisy in victim blaming when trying to condemn whistleblowers rather than the dirt they revealed. All in all something I find doesn't paint a pretty picture measured by my own values. Edit: Military leaders are very rarely held accountable for their decisions (good or bad), the US being no exemption. Elected leaders are, at the very latest when the next election comes around. Hence why I prefer them to keep a leash on the military.

  25. They could do a full menu of 100% invented in Russia and nowhere else foods and add Vodka and Borsht too. Then maybe distract everyone by asking which is the correct name Lviv Lvov Lwow Lemberg should be known by. Thanks are due to Bruce for running with the stereotypical astroturfing examples, though they weren't really needed. Quite apart from giving me the opportunity to point out, again, that the only reason Snowden is in Russia is because the US deliberately stranded him there by cancelling his passport to make him look bad to drooling cretins I can also remind people about Evo Morales' plane being forced down in complete contravention of the Vienna Protocols on the mere rumour that Snowden was aboard. Then I can also make a pithy observation about how all the pontificating about the 'rules based system' of international relations only ever gets applied when it's [not western] countries or their buddies (hello, Muhammed bin Bonesaw and his ongoing mass starvation in Yemen) breaking them.

  26. Cheers! After reading through your post I will say that Deadfire most certainly is not for you. --- But since Deadfire is not expensive nowadays and because you're in the software business and therefore won't be a pauper you could still give it a shot - just to be really sure that you definitely don't like it. Else you might have this nagging thought in the years to come: "I know I won't like it, this Boeroer guy told me... but what if... what if I skipped the greatest CRPG of all times?" I mean looking at your opening post you seem to have some free time at hand.

  34. More Cardcaptor Sakura and JoJo's (Steven Universe updates maybe tomorrow - might get an episode or two in during lunchbreak or some such). CCS: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure I don't entirely mind grimdark or brutal, not in film or TV, animated or not, as long as it makes sense and fits. Therefore the Sansa parts in Game of Thrones that had everyone in a riot* didn't bother me all that much. What did they think Lord Bolton would do? Be nice and gentle? The show did overly rely on rape and violence for nothing but shock value at that point, so some of the criticism is more than justified in general of course. *Not because of the violence or the rape, anyway. About how utterly stupid that plotline was that D&D came up with? Oh, you bet. I just don't think Sailor Moon is the proper vehicle to deal with sexual assault, implied, real or otherwise. Beyond the level of the Prince Demande stuff, anyway.

  40. I want to be clear, I know plenty of topic stating the same suggestion already exists, I decided to create another one just to make sure one of these reaches the creators. The more there are the more it's easy to determine how much a feature is wanted by the users. Seeing the character you created wearing an armor you hard earned or found makes the game more immersive to me than watching it from the character's own eyes in 1st person. Even more, I really like to spend a lot of time in character creation menus, i can spend more than 30 minutes there until I am proud of what I've created, so why spend all that energy If I am going to see that face just in the inventory or if I stay idle for too long? Unluckily my PC right now is not good enough, i only managed to play a hour before the CPU bailed on me and bottlenecked my GPU to 50% usage, but this game represents everything i love: RPG, Space and Science Fiction, Obsidian Games' Role playing mechanics (New Vegas is my favourite Fallout by far, [I've played 3 and 4 as well] ). So I really hope that when I will be able to afford a worthy PC the 3rd person will be a feature, so to appreciate this game on 360 degrees. Have a magnificent day.

  41. Once again I will reply to a topic similar to this. I definitely am missing my 3rd person view. And preferable also exactly like in Fallout 4 (no pun intended). I keep scrolling and scrolling with my middle mouse button but nothing happens? I really do miss the ability to watch my character during play. I hope this will be considered in the next game, Obsidian
