Admiral Grace Hopper for her work on compilers, among others. Same vein, Margaret Hamilton for her work at NASA and in computing. Catherine II of Russia, should be fairly obvious why (although I guess no Pole would be a fan of hers ) Massie's biography on her is a good read, tangentially.4 points

Well there aren't many unique rapiers so I would think you would build with those in mind. The soulbound one from SSS (Seeker's Fang) is limited to Cipher, Rogue, Wizard, and Ranger, and it's definitely best on a Cipher. Since you were considering Cipher anyway maybe go with that to make the most out of it in late-game? The most interesting effect from the other ones is immunity to flanking and +20% action speed when surrounded from Squid's Grasp. Thinking about how to make the most of that, I'd want to pick a Fighter, because Fighters can pretty effortlessly stand in the middle of a bunch of enemies without dying (especially if they can't be flanked). I think it would be fun to start most fights by diving directly into the middle of enemies with Charge and start stabbing away, taking advantage of Mob Stance. You could probably get some really fast attack speed with Mob Stance + Squid's Grasp (always dual-wield - one-handed is a trap unless you're building heavily around crits or using pistol modal). As a Devoted with Hammering Thoughts you'll be able to penetrate anything and will probably overpen a lot. You can pick Monastic training to smash pierce-immune skeletons. I've never played a Cipher MC, but maybe Ascendent would be best here because you're sitting on Focus for a while with it (powering up Seeker's Fang when you get it)? Could make for a satisfying gameplay loop to start fights by going stab-crazy on a mob and then spam some good spells when you ascend. I just saw that Soul Whip does more damage when ascended, so you don't even need to use powers to benefit from the subclass if you just feel like perforating goons all day. This would also make the absolute most of Seeker's Fang (helped out by Disciplined Strikes and a touch of extra Devoted Crit damage). So yeah - if I were to do this I would go Devoted/Ascendent, slap him/her at the front of the party, and Leeroy Jenkins into every mob I come across. You could get higher damage with monk or rogue, probably, but this seems fun to play and is doing a lot with the theme (rather than just being a standard weapon dps build using rapiers instead of Scordeos or whatever).3 points

I'll most likely start SuperS not this coming week, but rather the next. Won't have much time to watch anything this upcoming week (and actually, I might not be on here as much either), but it'll be better after that.3 points

Hi all! I would like to build a character that mainly focuses on using rapiers (although potentially could switch to a secondary weapon if needed to mitigate the common pierce immunity). I was thinking that one handed focus would be good to get crits more often, but dual wielding for higher attack speed could also be nice (with a stiletto or sabre in the off-hand). So far I have been thinking about monk/skald or monk/devoted, potentially taking helwalker when MC with skald for high dmg chants and shattered pillar with devoted (I play with the community patch which gets rid of the 5 wound limit for the SP monk). Alternative option would be to go rogue/cipher (ascendant and beguiler both seem nice, but possibley also soul blade) or shattered pillar/cipher to benefit from cipher's potential to greatly boost accuracy and aim for the DLC rapier for nice focus gain and high dmg from biting whip (improved by the community patch). Somehow I've been putting monk in all my potential MC options since their abilities are so hard to pass up, but also because instruments of pain with rapiers sounds amazingly badass (kinetic duelist!), but I would be interested in looking at other MC options that would make such character more effective. Pretty much any suggestions on how to build an effective and fun rapier-user are greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!2 points

Here are the code example: In this construction, initial tick should be delayed for 30 sec. timer, then usual OnTick effect will be applied. Can be used to delay anything.2 points

Kind of funny how easy people are to manipulate and how utterly naive they are to even the most basic PR moves. Literally everyone familiar with the Royal Family knows who asked how dark the baby's skin colour would be, it wouldn't do the slightest damage to name everyone's racist uncle Prince Philip as the person asking that question. It does more damage not to name him because speculation, and Meghan Markle 100% knows that. Archie doesn't get to be a prince because Prince Harry publicly said he didn't want his children to have titles literally years ago, and Archie doesn't qualify for being a Prince. She's also not Princess Diana, coming into the family blind as an innocent (more or less) 19 year old, she's a TV actress in her 30s. Harry is also at best thick as two short planks. Yeah, everyone in the royal family feels trapped, not a secret, Liz the QM famously hated Edward VIII for abdicating and forcing her husband to be King. They still do it though, with a smile. I'm sure they'll be very keen to reconcile with brave Harry who spoke his mind after... running away and leaving them to take up his slack. Ironically Harry and Meghan come across as utterly entitled. They wanted only the perks of the RF and none of the downsides and for everything to bend to them. And they'll run the money side of being royals into the ground, on their own terms. To quote the great philosopher Scott Steiner: "no simpy". Quite the opposite, in fact.2 points

I like that idea GD. I'd say Maria Sklodowska Curie, no introduction needed. Hedy Lamarr, she's mostly known as an actress, but she was also an inventor that laid the groundwork for wifi and bluetooth with her idea of frequency-hopping signals.2 points

Cipher with Seeker's Fang is pretty much the best end game build around a rapier. Rapier with Borrowed Instincts means very high crit chance and the class that benefits the most from it is the monk (Swift Flurry, Heartbeat Drumming, Stunning Surge, Enervating Blows). I would pick Nalpazca (for better survivability and wound generation) or no subclass if you don't like drugs (with Tuotilo's Palm in the right hand of course). For the cipher subclass the most obvious is the Ascendant and you should pick it if you want to mix casting and melee. If you want to build a heavy melee character then pick instead Soul Blade. The bleed from Seeker's Fang doesn't stack with itself and your focus matters only when you apply it. That means you can use Soul Annihilation/spells freely after applying your bleed to your target(s). A good back up weapon for this build is Sun and Moon (you can use it until you reach max focus, then switch to Seeker's Fang to apply the most powerful bleed). If you want to go the Soul Blade route then you can pick also a Trickster as second class because of the great synergy with Soul Annihilation (but less sturdy than a monk).2 points

The rapier modal is very strong (+20 Accuracy!) and rapiers are fast enough that the penalty isn't so bad when dual-wielding. Then Rapiers have innate +5 Accuracy. Rannig's Wrath even reinforces that Accuracy focus by providing another +4 Accuracy on top. So they are Accuracy beasts and, consequently, crit machines. Therefore I feel a monk with Flurry and Heartbeat Drumming is kinda obligatory to capitalize on that. Dual rapiers lead to massive crit chains all the time. The second class I would choose between Cipher (probably Ascendant) to eventually use the awesome Seeker's Fang or Rogue - probably Trickster - for solid damage output and strong defensive buffs.2 points

Agreed, I liked PoE 1 but i also preferred Deadfire. I don't think the main story was that weak, I liked that it didn't funnel you into one clear "good" ending. Really bummed when I discovered that it had moderate sales figures, I can not figure why. This game should've been at DOS2 level of commercial success, it truly deserves it. My only regret was that there was no Endless Paths in Deadfire.2 points

It might really be better to not take things in strides here. Time did dull the edge of SuperS for me when I first saw it. It might for you too. Have to admit that I'm curious what you think of Sailor Stars. I really hope SuperS isn't going to stop your from watching the final season. edit: look at that, we made the anime topic the only "hot" topic on the WOT board. Not bad. Huh, that might make you plow through Sailor Moon S even faster. It's practically the only season where the plot actually does become... if not interesting, then at least mildly making you want to see more of it.2 points

@BoeroerI had some ideas from this build and my Cipher/Assassin recent run, but I just retested more extensively with Mortar/Blunderbuss and Clear Out to be sure. It's a little funky because it really depends on what hits whom first, and whether there are pre-existing conditions qualifying for Sneak Attack/Deathblows. So essentially there are 2 cases, I'll start with the simple one : 1) If you are in the middle of a fight with targets that already have afflictions that qualify for Sneak Attack and Deathblows, every attack (AoE Clear Out, AoE Hand Mortar, AoE Thunderous Report...) on those targets will get Sneak Attack and Deathblows, and also Assassinate if you are hitting from stealth. Powder Burns still seems to behave a little funky but seems to get everything as well (maybe not Sneak Attack all the time and not Assassinate depending on timing/placement). By the way I just landed a Thunderous Report from invisibility on a poor group affected by Gouging Strike with the Cipher/Assassin and it did 457 DMG to the first target and 400+ DMG to each his buddies. Ouch 2) If you are opening a fight from stealth and no targets have pre-existing afflictions, things are a bit more complicated: Powder Burns gets Assassinate if it's the first thing to land (i.e. if someone is between your target and you when you shoot). In this case, your main attack and the AoE will be considered out of stealth and not receive bonuses. If you have Powder Burns on but shoot the closest target to you, your main attack lands first and gets Assassinate and Sneak Attack. The AoE hits and Powder Burns don't get any goodie because they happen afterwards. That is only partially true if your attack is landing a Blind affliction for example, because this enables Sneak/Deathblows for all Powder Burns hits and anything subsequent of course. The first target hit from Thunderous Report gets Assassinate and Sneak Attack. The other hits in the AoE get only Assassinate. My previous post about Clear Out is of course still true. I guess there are a few conclusions to draw from this exercise: Assassin multiclassing is fun It is confirmed that weapon AoE effects only get Assassinate but not Sneak Attack by default, however they will get Sneak Attack and Deathblows if the targets already qualify with afflictions. As I had mentioned in the Cipher/Assassin build, an opening Gouging Strike or Debilitating Strike with Hand Mortar (or Devastating Blow with Blinding Smoke ) is an amazing set up before something like Thunderous Report! For Clear Out specifically, Persistent Distraction is of course super strong and with engaged targets, you may sometimes get more AoE damage via Sneak/Deathblows than hitting from stealth (however your ACC will be much lower than in stealth and your build is all about Crits, so it might not be that good on average). But it is a good reason to alternate between stealth attacks and regular melee engagement, which also keeps the fight dynamic and fun. When you use hand mortars from stealth with Powder Burns on, you should really aim for the closest target and not try to aim for someone in the middle of a group otherwise only the first Powder Burn hit will get all your goodies. Oh and of course Thunderous Report is totally insane, but we already knew that! Did I mention that every time those attacks hit, enemies get stacking Deep Wounds DoT?2 points

The summoning altar for Valheim's second boss, The Elder: I don't know if they are called Ents in Norse mythology, but he's for all intents and purposes an Ent. He has 3 attacks, a stomp, shooting a bunch pf vines at you, and making a bunch of roots come out of the ground that attack you.2 points

Its a minor distinction and I dont think it will matter much to the overall taste of your curry ? The UK has a huge and famous Indian food culture, many famous Indian takeways come from the UK and the UK Indian community or have become mainstream because of this Like Chicken Tikka Masala who many say originated in the UK https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicken_tikka_masala1 point

Main difference between the link and what I'm doing seems to be the use of ginger instead of onion I might give that a try some day. It was something I picked up when staying in Sydney for a while, an Indian place had it on their menu. Best Indian curry I've had so far wasn't in London, but in Wellington. A place called 'Dawaat' (iirc). Their Chicken Lababdar curry and their fresh made Naan breads (made by the chefs behind a glass screen, spinning them around in the air at times, fresh to order, while you watch them making it).1 point

I didnt know what Chicken Massaman was so I looked it up, it looks great. I love all curry's and I like them hot ...like very hot https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/142055/chicken-massaman-curry/ In SA and especially Durban where I was born we have an established Indian community that came to SA in the 1800's as indentured laborers. Anyway the SA Indian community is one of our 4 official races and their culture is part of the Durban cultural landscape. So I grew up with lots of Indian takeaways all over the place and got to eat the best curry in the world....Durban Indian curry !!!1 point

You don't need foreign intervention to bring the US to its knees... the added weight to its citizens by the soft drink companies, overly processed foods manufacturers and junk food franchises will do it for you. Cheaply too Working on my Chicken Massaman process. Almost good now. I do "cheat" and buy a curry paste for the spice mix. Adding stuff like Tamarind Puree and Sugar (i.e. the sweet and sour part), Fish Sauce, diced potato and onion bits and coconut milk. Well, and chicken too. I might try it next time with beef, but I have very little experience with beef that isn't cooked on the BBQ Edit: Note to self, remember to buy some crushed peanuts to sprinkle over it next time1 point

Perhaps, but the Chinese people know moderation and Americans do not, so do you blame them for using it for a geopolitical advantage? But seriously, carbohydrates are like capitalism and protein and veggies are socialism, you to gravitate from the former to the latter not the other way around. Almost forgot, drink lots of water!1 point
