  1. Was having an issue where my game would run incredibly slow and jittery. So basically what I did was super obvious! CLEAN UP! after a 4-5 hour session of cleaning materials I dropped or didn't pickup, recycling 100s of planks literally I lost count, my game is running back @ 60 fps or so it seems close. For those with tons of builds you will most likely need to do this if you want your game running smoother believe me I know its tedious AF but its worth it until we get a patch,

  4. Opps sorry, I thought this was a request programme. Didn't realize one has to justify their preferences. I would argue that you can't dumb down a game if you remove dumb things. Not implemeting stuff that I don't like leaves more resources for the stuff that I do like. Especially if it's resource-hungry quicksand like homes/strongholds and the pale imitation of interpersonal romantic and/or sexual relationships which usually need a ton of good writing to be somewhat non-cringeworthy. PoE and Deadfire have an unlimited stash by the way. If an unlimited stash is enough to turn a game into a shallow action shooter then PoE and Deadfire are shallow action shooters.

  8. in the words o' vol, "no." *shrug* went against thomas jefferson, and a few others, but hardly 'gainst founding fathers in general, who numbered more than a few clergymen amongst them. chaplains opened both o' the initial houses o' Congress with prayers... 1789. is more than a few founders who took it as a matter o' faith that of course the US supported christianity, just not any particular denomination. Justice thomas, who has been forced to hide his worship o' original intent following the near universal adoption o' textualism by the less activist elements o' the Court, believes the establishment clause, based on comments by more than a few founders as well as earlier drafts o' the First Amendment means the US cannot establish a state church, and nothing else. the establishment clause is poor understood in part 'cause the founding fathers weren't in agreement as to what it meant. *sigh* gonna use aclu site for sh!tz and giggles HOW DO YOU KNOW THE GOVERNMENT IS "ESTABLISHING RELIGION"? In 1971, the Supreme Court decided Lemon v. Kurtzman which created three tests for determining whether a particular government act or policy unconstitutionally promotes religion. The Lemon test says that in order to be constitutional, a policy must: Have a non-religious purpose; Not end up promoting or favoring any set of religious beliefs; and Not overly involve the government with religion. Justice Scalia, who tended to disagree with the majority on establishment cases, wrote as follows: "Like some ghoul in a late-night horror movie that repeatedly sits up in its grave and shuffles abroad, after being repeatedly killed and buried, Lemon stalks our Establishment Clause jurisprudence once again, frightening the little children and school attorneys of Center Moriches Union Free School District. Its most recent burial, only last Term, was, to be sure, not fully six feet under: Our decision in Lee v. Weisman conspicuously avoided using the supposed test but also declined the invitation to repudiate it. Over the years, however, no fewer than five of the currently sitting Justices have, in their own opinions, personally driven pencils through the creature’s heart (the author of today’s opinion repeatedly), and a sixth has joined an opinion doing so. The secret of the Lemon test’s survival, I think, is that it is so easy to kill. It is there to scare us (and our audience) when we wish it to do so, but we can command it to return to the tomb at will. Such a docile and useful monster is worth keeping around, at least in a somnolent state; one never knows when one might need him." confused yet? other than J. Thomas, who sadly has gained a couple o' ambivalent disciples to his curious reading o' the establishment clause, there is two kinda general notions o' church v. state and sorta a spectrum in betwixt and 'tween. absolute wall of separation-----------------------------------------------------non preferential wall of separation weren't actual adopted until 1947 btw. "The “establishment of religion” clause of the First Amendment means at least this: Neither a state nor the Federal Government can set up a church. Neither can pass laws which aid one religion, aid all religions, or prefer one religion over another […] No tax in any amount, large or small, can be levied to support any religious activities or institutions, whatever they may be called, or whatever form they may adopt to teach or practice religion […] In the words of Jefferson, the clause against establishment of religion by law was intended to erect “a wall of separation between Church and State.”-- J. Black, everson v. board of education the aforementioned lemon test fundamental altered establishment clause jurisprudence, so in spite o' fact every US school child learns "separation of church and state," most school teachers is educating based on a reading o' the Constitution which ain't been law of the land since 1971. non preferential may have a kinda gut-level appeal for many folks given the widespread presence o' Religion and Faith in our federal institutions which would take us a long time to fully enumerate. assume for a moment you is a good god fearing person who thinks the State should be able to support and regulate non religious aspects o' private schools. as long as the State support affects all private schools, regardless o' religious affiliation or denomination, then perhaps is okie dokie with the first amendment? such a perspective has been a popular view o' the establishment clause by the Court... from time to time. check out la county courthouse lawn during holidays. if the government allows a nativity scene on the lawn, then every other religion and faith gets their space too. in la and elsewhere you may see dozens o' different faiths and beliefs with their holiday displays sharing lawn space with baby jeebus. current state o' establishment clause is a bit odd as scalia's ghoul is not lemon, which he proper describes as a pathetic monster incapable o' instilling fear in even the most panic'd libertarian weeping over an imagined parade o' horribles fated to never sees the light o' day. nope, the ghoul is J. Thomas, who perhaps is a bit too remote for even gorsuch and kavanaugh to fully embrace, but he is the guy who posited in more than one dissent over the years that barenaked existence o' a religious symbol or practice which has managed to exist in spite o' the establishment clause, somehow confers legitimacy after some unspecific amount o' time. a religious display erected in 2020 might fail to meet lemon test minimal burdens, but if the display were constructed in the 1950s it might survive a Constitutional challenge. and so on and so forth. regardless, founders, regardless o' what you and others may have been taught in school, were not having a singular notion as to what were separation o' church and state, and that phrase didn't even gain widespread usage until the late 1800s. "in god we trust," or some variation, were okie dokie with the great majority o' founders and am suspecting most took it as no less than a simple reflexive axiom as 'posed to advocacy o' religion. if it makes you feel better/worse, the dalai lama opened senate with a daily prayer in 2014. HA! Good Fun!

  9. On Tuesday nights, I take part in a ridiculous bike ride, where my goal is usually just to hand on as long as possible before getting dropped. It's about 25 miles around a reservoir. My fastest time is 65 minutes, but most of the guys do it in about 55 minutes. Given the temperature and air quality, I wasn't sure if it would happen last night, but sure enough there were plenty of people ready to go in the 100 degree heat. I also thought maybe it will be a bit more mellow, since the air quality is not great right now. I was wrong, and a few guys hammered the first hill off the front. There is only one regroup on this ride, about 10 miles in at the top of the second big climb. After getting dropped on the first climb, I pushed through to the regroup area with a small group of stragglers. My water bottle was already serving hot water, and I was gassed. Thankfully, one of the guys who lead the ride said "I'll buy anyone who wants to turn around with me a beer!" That was all I needed to cut my ride short, so I headed back with a small group. Discretion is the better part of valor.

  12. I don't really care about the specific mechanics of storage and crafting, what I really want is for them (or any game company) to hire the best UX designers they can find because pretty much every user experience for crafting has been a b y s m a l (with console releases the worst). I'm sure they have UI experts, and maybe even a UXer, but they need some serious resources and more headcount because you can have the richest crafting system in the world but if you still make me scroll through endless lists of inscrutable items trying to remember which goes where it's still gonna be mediocre. grounded is better than some other games, but considering how big of a role crafting plays in that game it's still a struggle.

  13. scordeo's edge is very good but these days i avoid using it or upgrade it suboptimally because the temptation to exploit blade cascade is too great, that's how good it is. even without blade cascade, the increasing accuracy boost is crazy, which for you would probably be adaptive for generic +20 accuracy when maxed out. you can't go wrong with it. tarn's is actually probably better overall than grave calling outside of metagaming and vessel fights - you don't have to ramp up your lash (which can take a while if dual-wielding with another weapon) so while grave calling maxes out higher, tarn's starts off higher which means grave calling spends a lot of time initially just catching up. it also has bonus PEN, which is always nice. i also really like aldris blade of crow or whatever. it has a really great on-crit effect and the +10 shock damage is affected by other damage modifiers. it has also a subtle syenrgy if you pair with tarn's and its upgrade to reduce target deflection, making crits more common. (though if you're going with this synergy alone, scordeo's adaptive upgarde is better) if you've done the valian quest line there's also animancer's energy blade, which is great for tough fights because of its speed and its ability to completely ignore AR. (it does lower damage, but it also has only a 3s recoveyr instead of a 4s recovery) this was good enough that i mained it for one of my glass cannon builds against megabosses. edit: with eder, you probably have lots of primary attacks instead of full attacks - is tha tright? if so, you might just want one weapon and then a blunderbuss. that way you could max out on one weapon at the cost of having worse full attacks. (this also has fun synergies with the clear out family of abilities)

  14. Did a quick go to the turn based mode (by that I attempted multiple times to beat Fallen Priestess without her permanently killing one of the teammates). I like the UI and information but couple things I don't like: 1) Camera widly swinging from character to character - there is something off about it, which makes things more confusing to me, then helpful. 2) Did they really just erase an ability to smoothly zoom in and out? Unless some of my mods break stuff, now it's only close or near zoom. Not a biggie as I managed to adjust but annoying nonetheless. 3) as space is now used to accelerate/end turns I see no way of pausing the game which is unfortunate. I wanted to stop the game from going, to analyse spells being cast and stats, before the log gets filled by 6 inconsequencial enemy actions. Good: 1) Turn based system is really clearly communicated. They seemed to even impliment fullaction spells, which I don't think were in the mod. 2) I like the little roll indicator above a character - it decreses the need to dive into the log all the time.

  15. if i were to be honest with myself, i think the games that got consumables closest to "right" is something like final fantasy tactics. there the game, as you say, is pretty much balanced around the expectation of using potions and phoenix downs and throwing bombs or some such - if not that, then the spell equivalents from a white mage or black mage. there's also a pronounced lack of scarcity - even if you can only afford like 10 potions going into one fight, you can be assured that you'll be able to buy more at the next town after the fight. there's also katana, which one of the classes can use as a consumable - everytime you use a katana there's a 15% chance or so it breaks, but you can buy more katanas. There's also unique katanas with powerful effects, and I guarantee you most people who ever played a samurai in FFT hardly ever used those unique katanas for their abilities even for "only" a 15% chance of losing it, for the same reason that it's frequently a struggle to use a basic potion in a party-based RPG like deadfire; you never know if there's a harder fight just around the corner you *really* should save it for. the reason why i say "if i were to be honest with myself" is because it's far from my ideal world where you'd have consumables that are (1) interesting [in deadfire you get unique effects with potions of impediment or invisibility or ascendance, and in poe1 you got some unique spell scrolls], (2) with the expectation that you could really get a leg up on a fight with them (instead of them just being part of the standard expectation in every fight like in FFT or Diablo 1/2/3), but also (3) don't induce anxiety to use every single time. it really seems like no one has really figured out a way to get all three.

  16. I can't wait to start Kingmaker next, you gotta tell me what you think of it once you get your head around it. If you remember It's even worse then that, often by the time you have the knowledge to know to use consumables, that very knowledge allows you to defeat the encounters without them anyway. That's exactly what has mostly happened for me in Deadfire. Looking online to use consumables to trivialise encounters without prior knowledge sucks too and just feels bad. I think the issue is transparency. Deadfire is a moderately good example. One of my pet peeves is that I can't "scout" monsters stats until the fight actually starts, or I've completed the bestiary, and I'm still fairly lazy about using the bestiary. Maybe lazy isn't the right word, but stopping and reading the bestiary before every fight to remind myself about what this creatures stats or abilities are can feel pace breaking. If I could simply stealth up to enemies, pause the game, highlight over them, and have all the relevant information I needed to make educated decisions, along with hotlinks maybe to greater and more detailed information, I'd probably use different consumables way more. What's killing you, or what could kill you just needs to be more obvious! I don't think it takes away from the challenge or the mystery of the game either. I mean I guess sometimes it would, for boss fights etc. or encounters where enemies show up instead of being presented to you before, but I don't have answers on how to fix that... The game is either balanced around using consumables, in which case make the information needed to use them really obvious, or it isn't, and in that case, just remove consumables, because using them often ends up trivializing content once you "discover" it.

  17. 1) Wizard_SE_DisableIllusions specifies ClassValueID: Wizard, so it does not restrict Illusion-Keyworded abilities of other classes! 2) Sadly, so does Illusionist_SE_PowerLevel, which means Priest of Wael does not benefit from picking the Illusionist subclass. 3) Druids spells with Evocation keywords, you mean like Tekehu's watershaper spells? Should be the same case as above. Or am I misunderstanding the question?

  18. DoTs do get the ACC bonus. But the following ticks will not get a PEN or dmg bonus because those are calculated in real time and you won't be invisible anymore. Also most DoT ticks break invisibility except Vanishing Strikes. On of the best synergies for an Assassin/Bloodmage is that Arkemyr's Brilliant Departure creates an invisibility that will not break as long as you don't damage the target(s). All CC spells without damage can be cast from invisibility without breaking it. You can completely disable opponents with dozens of debuffs before using the final nuke. Also Wall spells don't break it (no even the damaging ones). So you can stay invisible forever with Wall of Draining + Brilliant Departure for example. Fireball usually gets the Assassinate bonus by the way. At least from stealth. It depends a bit on the ability you are using for invisibility and on the spell you use for dealing damage (how it applies its AoE without much delay). For example Shadowing Beyond is fiddly while Smoke Veil is much more forgiving. Stealth is better, too. Also Arkemyr's Brilliant Departure is better.

  19. At minimum Emeralds are on the loot table, and I am pretty sure Saphire and Rubies are as well. They are sold by the Dimesa in the Treasure Trove. My biggest trap as a noob was actually following builds for my characters + companions verbatim, then 3/4's of the way into the game, finding out I don't have enough Adra Ban to get all the build "necessary" items I wanted to Legendary (which may or may not matter, but from a noobs eyes, it felt like I trapped myself/failed). A good example of this is the popular Pallegina companion build, Tuono e Fulmine. It's 8 Adra Ban alone to get her weapon setups to Legendary. That's a huge chunk of your limited amount, and new players don't know that. Maybe it's okay to leave the Blunderbusses at Superior? As noob, I didn't know those answers. It's a weird tension as well, because Armor needs Adra Ban to get to superior. So things like Miscreant's Leather, Maia's Armor, and Aloth's Armor are good, but if you forgo using Adra Ban on them, they are stuck at Exceptional. Again, on PotD, it might not actually matter, since mobs are probably over penetrating anyway, even if you took these up to Legendary, but in a noobs eyes, having items sit at exceptional was just not acceptable for my noob brain. In reality, saving that Adra Ban for Legendary Weapons is probably more important. I quickly learned in subsequent playthoughs that Armors that are native Superb+ and weapons that are native Legendary are sometimes more valuable then they look, especially in the early game. In some sense build guides almost need disclaimers to new players. They are a natural source of guidance to new players, in what can be a very confusing game, but the guides themselves can be very contextual and self centered when viewed in both a party context and outside of the late game.

  23. So would you say that I should play the turn based mode? How is it? Divinity Original Sin (both 1 and 2 ) are turn based, the new Baldur's Gate 3 is going to be turn based. PoE1 is not, so I suppose it would feel a bit strange. That is a perfect summary I totally want to be that unkillable battlemage standing on the front line. I always feel that in the world of magic, where you can rupture the sky with your thought, create earthquakes, summon demons...etc. Why would you even have a weapon? It should be nothing but a back up for those "I cannot cast no more" moments or maybe some powerful artifact giving you some rare ability - like life leech or something. Also, armor makes sense because it makes you more unkillable. I would also like to thank you for all the kind words that made me realize what kind of build I want to play. Also your assassin/bloodmage build is super awesome, I am just not sure I would be able to never die in Iron Man

  25. Yeah, it's a very good spell. It's a Priest buff/debuff that lives outside the affliction/inspiration system, and it hits the two stats that essentially everybody wants. It's great. My typical Priest buff cycle for offense on PotD difficulty goes: Dire Blessing, Devotions for the Faithful, and Shining Beacon, another AL4 spell that does amazing work. It attacks will, is foe-only, has a meaty base AoE, and it drops 10 from all defenses and applies a burn DoT. The DoT is just a nice bonus. But between Devotions and Shining Beacon, nobody in the party has trouble connecting with their abilities. If there are high-will enemies in the room I'll have a wizard self-buff accuracy and then drop a Miasma of Dull-Mindedness to drop their mental stats by 10 before the Beacon. Also, I thought you could buy Adra Ban? Stores refresh over time, but I don't know for sure if Adra Ban is something that refreshes. I admit to being a little lazy about upgrading my gear, so I'm not very qualified to answer your third question, sorry. Thanks for sharing your play experiences, it's fun to see how people play with the feedback they get here.

  28. TBH most of the passive skills are like that. half of them do probably have a super hard high check involved to bypass some hard fight which--if you don't care about a specific way to finish quest or aoiding fights--is not really a big deal. Survival is probably the most useful because of all the survival checks in scripted interactions, but beyond that I find them mostly useful if I want some synergy with items (religion, history, metaphysics, etc. diplomacy does have a synergy but it's a club that doesn't seem particularly great to me) devotions is indeed pretty special. Paladin's zealous focus aura comes closest, but only with a +5 acc (upgradable to a 5% hit to crit as well). don't forget that devotions also gives every ally +4 might, and also debuffs enemies for -10 acc and -4 might, which just makes it super. i am still honestly perplexed of people back in the day when devotions used to be a 20 accuracy up or down change who thought that wasn't utterly broken. these days i will make priests who don't pick up devotions, but it's mostly just to do something different. don't get me wrong, other tier 4 spells are still pretty good, it's just devotions is obviously very good. with your second slot already taken i think veilpiercer is a perfectly fine weapon to have. the area cleansing effect can be a life saver in some of the final fights you have (especially in SSS). if you plan on doing some megabosses i am a big fan of shattered vengeance over kapana taga - kapana taga has -1 PEN and compensates by doing two different damage types, but i find most of the times I don't care about the secondary damage type i just would switch if blunt isn't enough. shattered vengance can also get you bonus engagement (it is also super on a non-tank since it can be upgraded to grant you immunity to engagement). however if you don't plan on doing megabosses, i'm not sure there are enough bullet sponges left to make it worth switching out and upgrading (pretty much just a few fights and final boss in SSS and then the endgame), since by this point you are probably beefed up enough to shred trash mobs without the need for the shattered vengeance damage buff. does eder have flail proficiency? flails can be pretty handy, and there's a particularly good religion-powered flail in SSS that would be excellent for mobs.

Forgot how terrible I am with controllers and that the tutorial was this horribly long punishing thing where a death means a do-over. That wasn't fun. Got it second timer around by just spamming dodge, like a "pro" :D Oh, and that the PC port is an abandoned technical piece of crap. They're lucky the game is good. 37. Now reading: An interesting historical figure. Few eyewitnesses to history are so accessible to the modern world. Almost all of the new testament of the bible are letters he wrote. When you read them you are reading the words of a man who actually lived in the Roman Empire. And there are always little details about it that can be gleaned from them. In addition to that, but for this one man, who never laid eye on Jesus while he lived, the Christian Religion would likely have died out in the third century. Perhaps consigned to a small minor faith found only in Turkey, Israel, and the modern remnants of the hellenic world. There are few times you can say this but this one man changed the world. And he did it by travelling and writing letters. The book is doing a pretty good job discussing Paul of Tarsus as a man and historical figure,
