That was the idea. That was also why I got the chickens. Now they all have names and follow me around and I wouldn't harm a feather on them even if I was starving. But I will take the eggs though. Clearly I'm not much good at this farming thing. I get too attached to the livestock.4 points

Well dude I freaking love pain. Anyway way to contribute to this thread I’m starting up deadfire for the third time since it was released on Xbox and I hope to finish it this time. I love the game but my two issues have been my inability to stick to a class and also the long and abundant load times. I’m hoping that acknowledging and facing and attempting to correct my problem (sticking with a class) is enough to combat the load time issue. However New Vegas is loaded in the chamber and I’m ready to switch2 points

Religion * 0.25 + 2 = base burn dmg It may be late game, but other than Weapon Proficiency Flail and Religion you don't need to invest in anything you wouldn't with an ordinary melee monk. So that shouldn't be a problem at all (concerning fun before you get there). Inner Death is rather bad compared to WotW. Especially if you take Resonant Touch into account. Even if you don't take into account that you fight multiple foes most of times. First of all it's powered by Mortification and thus its use is limited, unlike WotW and Stunning Surge (in theory). Also because it's quite expensive. And to make it reliable you need Empowered Strikes which takes away another PL 9 pick. Then, like Forbidden Fist ability, it doesn't use weapons and doesn't seem to be properly tagged as melee weapon attack but as melee spell which prevents it from triggering Swift Flurry/HBD correctly. Also Turning Wheel doesn't get applied (Lightning Strikes do iirc). If you don't mind using Empower with it (and build around Empower) and have no problem with resting rather often then it's a good thing against single targets - but there's better stuff than that and I'd say that using Stunning Surge + Resonant Touch against single target will be equally good but doesn't need further investment. I can see it working nicely with Slippers of the Assassin maybe: go in, kill one guy, turn invisible and retreat from battle. Repeat. That's a completely different playstyle and may justify it's usage.2 points

Hello, I never posted here before, but I made a few mods for this game quite a while ago. I didn't think they would interest anyone, but this one added a lot of atmosphere to my last playthrough, so I finally published it. It's for those who enjoy companion interaction. https://www.nexusmods.com/pillarsofeternity2/mods/4171 point

I am not sure if people are aware of this combo but it is game breakingly strong. Ajamuut's Stalking Cloak + Boots of the Stone+ Ring of the Marksman +Ring of Focused Flame (if not nature godlike then add Acina's Tricorn) + Scordeo's Edge+ Keeper of the Flame + Saint's War Armor all on a Monk with Whispers of the Wind + Imagined Pain is absolutely ridiculous. Keeper of the Flame does a religion scaling area of effect burn damage attack that is both friend or foe on hit. The area of effect attack is treated as a ranged attack therefore Ring of the Marksman will increase it's penetration and accuracy, Ring of Focused Flame increases accuracy another 10 since it is a fire attack, and Scordeo's Edge can increase the accuracy by 20 or 30 depending on your upgrade (the +20 upgrade is probably better because you still need your first hit not to miss and vs Mega bosses you need all the accuracy you can get). The Stalking Cloak gives extra accuracy for attacks from stealth and your attacks will stun which is already excellent with Whispers of the Wind. The amazing thing is that the area of effect attack from Keeper of the Flame will hit you and it is vs Reflex, and Saint's War Armor is immune to Reflex until hit by something else two times. This means that the attacks from Keeper of the Flame AOE will count as a miss vs you and Imagined Pain turns these misses into wounds! You can now spam Whispers of the Winds non stop and will constantly trigger Rooting Pain. Keeper of the Flame AOE doesn't have the highest penetration however you can get the accuracy up to around 180 and the flail modal reduces reflex by 25 which will make you crit all the time getting your penetration above 20. The Boots of the Stone are there to protect you, in case you some how get hit twice you wont be stunning your self all the time. I would also put on Gauntlets of Greater Reliability vs some of the Megabosses so you are guaranteed to get some grazes in which will in turn inprove your accuracy but really any gloves can be effective. Sadly for some reason using Avenging Storm some how causes you to hit yourself but that means you can put your skills into Alchemy and have some potions and drugs last all fight. While under the effects of Blade Cascade you can gulp down potions like no tomorrow. Don't forget you will be doing a ridiculous number of hits for Resonant Touch. A tight group of enemies will end up with over 20 stacks after only one use of Wispers of the Wind. I think the best build for this would be a Nature Godlike Hellwalker. Although it also works fine on Xoti.1 point

So I'm playing XCOM (recent one, not UFO Defence) and I'm enjoying the game itself well enough. I'm not keen on some gameplay things like aliens getting a 'free' move when spotted at all- only reason I can think of for it since aliens are pretty good at using cover otherwise is console memory limits- otoh it's recognisably xcom and I've always loved the strategy/ tactical layer mix in them and Jagged Alliance. But that UI- sometimes you use the mouse to select/ confirm, sometimes you have to use the keyboard to do the same thing; sometimes both in the same UI element. Click through of interface elements in the tactical screen means you do stuff you don't intend to, typically opening doors. And it has a very annoying unresolved issue with ultrawide where you can choose having the UI elements misaligned or having the movement of your squad members not correspond to where the mouse cursor is placed. OK, the last probably isn't solely console related but the rest must be, surely. How could the people who made the seemingly infinitely scalable and perennially working CivIV come up with that abject mess?1 point

that's funny, because my only attempt where i tried that it failed miserably, so i consider interrupts much more reliable. might just be what kind of micromanagement you can handle (with 4/5 party members equipped with crossbows/arbalests, interrupting HoW is pretty easy; i'm sure you'd say something similar about body blocking)1 point

Early days, so as with everything else regarding the pandemic, you should take this with a grain of salt. But counterintuitive as it is, thus far smoking seems to be, at worst, a non-factor and at best smokers are strongly underrepresented in COVID-19 cases. https://www.qeios.com/read/review/186 https://www.ejinme.com/article/S0953-6205(20)30110-2/fulltext https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3566160 And yes, as you said, this seems to have been a wake up call for many smokers, who are thinking of or have already quit. The difference with the other knee-jerk reactions we've seen is that quitting smoking is probably a good idea, notwithstanding COVID-19.1 point

You can beat that same old drum all you want, but it's never rang more false than right now with the malevolent, two-bit lunatic we have. Biden is unlikely to be a good (...or comprehensible) president or leader, but I will gladly take "not good" over the malicious madness we've been experiencing. And I say that as someone who strongly believed in and supported a much more moral and intelligent man, and as someone who convinced a number of friends and family members (including some lifelong conservatives) to vote for him in a stupid, useless primary.1 point

Some pictures of Kresusiso Headquarters. First up, my luxurious dock for small and medium size ships (I don't have a pier for large and XL ships yet, but I also don't have any L and XL ships yet): I wonder what my Boron scientist friend thinks of the fish tanks, given that Boron are aquatic. The office of my manager: Meeting the scientist face to face for the first time (that's me in the doorway): His (?) name is Boso Ta. He is the only Boron I have encountered in the game. I wonder if the Boron will be reintroduced into the game fully in a future expansion, much like the Split were with the Split Vendetta expansion that came out recently.1 point

IME, interrupts aren't THAT important in base game. The dragons, guardian, giant cave grub, and engwithan titans can all be made much easier by interrupting some majorly telegraphed attacks (especially ones that summon extra enemies) but you can largely brute force your way through them, especially since the base game basically maxes out in difficulty at around level 16 or so and you can still easily get to 20. I still think it makes the game much easier to interrupt enemies while concentrating your party, but it's not crucial. With DLC, the difficulty curves amps up quite a bit, so there's not really as much room for overleveling and just brute forcing your way through fights. Because of that, combat tactics (like interrupts) start mattering more than just hoping to roflstomp enemies. Edit: also, interrupts are basically mandatory for one of the megaboss fights (Haune O Whe)1 point

I've got the same impression. I made it to day 11 with the "Heart" guy and realized that my only desire was to beat the **** out of him, which considering that the PC looked about as tough as him should have been technically possible. Or to lecture him on personal boundaries and importance of trust, respect and clear communications in healthy relationship, then recommend to find a therapist first, a partner (much) later. I restarted from the prologue and trying another route with the Purple NPC. So far, it has been better. Though, I assumed that he and the PC were in open relationship, which would be refreshing. It seems that they aren't. For some reason the game does not allow me to role-play the meme version of Commander Shepard with the iconic "We'll bang, okay?". I was quite sure that it was the point of dating-sims. The dialogue options are still somehow lacking - I could not suggest threesome when the PC's BBF hit on the PC's BF. In another scene I was unable either to politely ask the Purple NPC to leave the PC's personal space or to suggest to continue in the PC's apartment. So it was just creepy/weird. I guess, I'm not exactly the target audience for this VN, but I'll try to complete at least one route.1 point

Each religion point adds 0.44 burn dmg and with max might and 20+ religion you can do around 20 AoE burn dmg. Also the burn dmg isn't affected by grazes or crits, just by penetration. This build is great for solo, but in a party you will damage your companions adding stacks of Resonant Touch to them too... Also the build requires Ooblit or else you risk being hit during the casting phase of WotW by the enemies left unstunned, which will end your immunity. Another thing to keep in mind - using Dance of Death counts as a hit taken (probably Mortification of the Soul too).1 point

Packers will conclude their laughably terrible draft that makes no sense whatsoever today. Our first three picks have all been drafted to become backups, so I'm excited to see these later round picks be so bad that they're expected to all miss making the team at all the first year.1 point

It's nice to see such optimism! George Martin said that if he hadn't finished writing the next book by the time he came to New Zealand this year we could lock him up at the old sulphur mine on White Island until he finished. Of course, White Island happens to be a volcano and erupted killing a bunch of people, so no one's going there any time soon. And now there's coronavirus so he couldn't even get to the country to be imprisoned on White Island anyway. We are never getting another book, the whole thing is cursed. There's probably passages in Nostradamus and Revelations talking about the Winds of Winter.1 point

The Surge 2. I defeated the final boss by equipping the most OP implants I could find with the Iron Mouse set (0 CP consumption) and face-tanking him. Somehow it worked - I was able to regenerate and leech HP faster than he could decrease it. There was one choice after the battle and I did not quite understand what was the connection between the choice and Athena's comment (the kid sort of survived, by the way). In NG+ there is an extra scene at the plane before the crash. In general, random enemies have more HP/defense, there were several nanite ones in the tutorial location, bosses seem to be the same, though I have fought only two so far. I am unsure, if I should continue the playthrough - the game is great, but the first PT was as complete as possible. I only missed several audio logs.1 point

Add likely works, and will go to the normal "additive bonus" stage, meaning that it will happen after default multipliers, but before "PostAdd" multipliers. It doesn't seem like status effects can cause "PostAdd" multipliers, however, except lashes, etc. NB: adding a negative modifier as "addition" could possibly reduce the recovery time to 0 or less, which would simply remove recovery time (there is a case which causes recovery time <0 to become 0f, I believe).1 point
-
PPS: I am not sure what operator type "add" will end up doing. In some places it looks like the calculation for recovery time ignores the attached "operator type" field, but I am not sure it is universal.1 point

Very interesting. As verification, it is handled as a case in "AdjustRecoveryTime" for CharacterStats (in the dlls via IlSpy). Awkwardly, I can't find a check anywhere for if there character is wearing a shield. As such, this may apply even if using a shield but with one weapon. The weird appearance is probably due to the entry for "SingleWeaponRecoveryModifier" in the status effect manager having a display string and tactical string of -1. Which is fixable in statuseffects.gamedatabundle, thankfully. { "StatusEffectType": "SingleWeaponRecoveryMultiplier", "DataType": "4097", "OperatorType": "Add", ----> "DisplayString": -1, <---- "WildcardString": -1, "TacticalString": -1, "AttackFilterDisplayStyleID": "2187499c-ae27-41cd-a373-74cfe55fa59f", "AttackTargetFilterDisplayStyleID": "e3c2a249-5355-4d0f-a9e6-ff9441c76e0c" }, { "StatusEffectType": "DualWieldWeaponRecoveryMultiplier", "DataType": "4097", "OperatorType": "Multiply", "DisplayString": 4040, "WildcardString": -1, "TacticalString": 5233, "AttackFilterDisplayStyleID": "2187499c-ae27-41cd-a373-74cfe55fa59f", "AttackTargetFilterDisplayStyleID": "e3c2a249-5355-4d0f-a9e6-ff9441c76e0c" },1 point

Greetings Obsidian Fans! We’re extremely excited about our upcoming RPG, and we know you are too. We wish we could tell you all about it right now… but we’re going to hold off until the time is right. What we did want to talk about was a question a lot of you have been raising: “Will this upcoming game feature any lootboxes or other microtransactions?” The answer is simply: “no.” No microtransactions, of any kind, in our game. We also wanted to say a word about our partnership with Private Division, our publisher on this title. Far from “pushing” us to put anything -- microtransactions or otherwise -- into our game, Private Division has been incredibly supportive of our vision, our creative freedom, and the process by which we work to make RPGs. They have been fantastic partners, and we are extremely excited to work with them through release, to put what we know is going to be an amazing game into as many hands as possible. As always, thank you so much for your support. We know we couldn’t do what we do without our fans, and we want you to know that we put you guys first in every decision we make. Obsidian1 point

I admire the fact that you still believe in something. That you can still summon up even a modicum of passion. Even though you know the cause is undeserving of it. I hope you never lose that because you will miss it once it's gone. Take it from one who knows.0 points
