  1. Why would they "command undead"? Priests aren't necromancers, they're the opposite. They're the antithesis of necromancers. Priests should be consecrating the defiled corpses perverted by necromancy, or attempting to save the souls enslaved by necromancers if that's how necromancy works in a given context. I don't know much about priest in PE, but I'm pretty sure clerics had the ability to control and create the undead in D&D. Some evil clerics were basically divine necromancers depending on their skills and domains that they picked. I'm assuming their going to based Priest from this game off the clerics from D&D 3 and 4. They're already said that Priests would be more like a D&D Paladin. Weren't D&D paladins clerics with less spells anyway? That's basically what I remember.

  3. And they succeeded :D Major props to who the guy who posted th Sui Geneis link in Total Biscuit's project eternity interview video. The helped some. Not to mention tweets from people like Brian Fargo.
  4. Probably one of the most interesting kickstarters I've seen yet, mainly because they actually showed gameplay. As a game programmer myself, I'm impressed with what they did with only 5 people. The games look great, and the physics engine is incredible. This proves you can make a great looking game even with limited funding. m I'm more interested in the modding capabilities. From what I read on the forums, it going to have module system similar to NWN, where people can run there own server and make their own campaigns.
  5. I prefer my party members to level up with the party if they are not in the main party, unless there is a story reason why they can't level up or get any experience with you while they are away. A JRPG called Tales of Phantasia pulled this off very well with a character named Chester, and the game even mentions that he was weak due to his lack of getting experience. One of the most enjoyable moments in the game (for me) was leveling him up so he can be on par with the other characters (and that didn't take long). Otherwise, let the characters level up with you. I mean, just because that character isn't in that party doesn't mean they aren't getting experience. Perhaps they druids you left in the end is still training and communicating with the spirits while you are away.
  6. Last long enough to finish the project? I just hope THQ last, period. THQ has been publishing some of the best and polished games the past few years, and it would suck to see one of the good publishers die out while some of the evil and greedy publishers stay alive (EA).
  7. This is something they are going to do in Wasteland 2 I think.
  8. If you don't like his post, then don't read his post. I honestly never seen the TC do anything wrong. But I guess having a opinion different from others counts as trolling.
  9. I think he meant he wanted to see the other stuff that Obsidian wanted to put in the game, but never gotten the chance to due to time. Nevertheless, I agree the game seemed finished enough in its current state.
  10. You could, say, create three characters and fill the rest of the slots with NPCs. Exactly like this. You could create all six and not use any NPCs at all. So the Adventurer's Guild is just bringing back a feature that was in all IE games...well except for Torment of course. And I guess the idea that just because the game does not voice and have lines for the character they are just a hired goon. The character you create is however you imagine they are. So what are you complaining about exactly? The Adventurers' Guild NPCs are optional, so you don't have to use them at all. The AG NPCs are mainly for testing out weird parties, min/maxing characters, or RPing your own party. Just.....don't use them?
  11. With only a few NPCs, I rather they not do this. This was fine in many old games because they gave you a load of companions to choose from. I rather the NPC temporarily leaves the party or will simply refuse to join the party while the NPC they hate is in your party (kind of like Raven in Arcanum, who will refuse to join while Z'an Al'urin is in the party). However, if they do decide that NPCs can come to blows, you should have be able to persuade them to stop depending on your charisma score. Also, the game should remember that the NPC killed the other NPC member in your party. Do you inform the NPC party member that you'll kill them in revenge (this could happen anytime later in the game I guess), or perhaps you can keep reminding the NPC how much of douchbag they are for killing a former friend of yours? In real life, people don't simply forget who killed whom.
  12. Oh trust me, that tune will change when you get older. I used to be the same way.
  13. I want something like Fallout 2 but more in the Arcanum style. And I would love random encounters. Not for the repetitive battles but for the interesting random encounters (perhaps meet a npc, or some weird reference from another game..
  14. I would like to get a character that's part of a race a the main character can't choose. Like Haer'Dalis from BG2 or Waromon from Arcanum. It's just nice to have a companion that's different than what you see everyday in the average town.
  15. Actually, I would love to see a companion that's part of a race you can't choose at all. Keeps the companions unique. Heck, give us companion that's really out their, like One of Many.
  16. I don't think you're being fair here; NPCs in Arcanum are similar to NPCs in Fallout; they're not the main focus of the game. However, if you think the game doesn't have any banter or inter party relationships, then I think you need to play the game again with the right NPCs. Some characters had more development then others in the game. Nevertheless, I personally think Virgil was is of the most interesting parties members ever in an CRPGs. Not just for his involvement in the story, but how he can be influenced depending on what you do in the game.
  17. I don't like it when you get companions way to late. If the character appears in the story earlier (like Magus from Chrono Trigger or Loghain), then that's fine. But when you get a character like Vhailor near the end of the game, it's kind of hard to feel connected to them because you don't get to hang out with them that long.. Heck, even in Arcanum where you get characters like Franklin Payne, Gorgoth, Arronax, Kree, and Kraka Tur VERY late in the game, you at least hear and learn about them throughout the game before encountering them.
  18. I'm pretty sure the English lessons you had in school definitely helped you anyway, even though you've gone through the core of the learning process on your own. You must've picked up some basics of the language from the lessons and a general nature of the structure of the language. After that it's all a matter of learning the vast vocabulary (IIRC you're Italian? Nearly all of Italian vocabulary is Latin and English derives a lot of its words from Latin as well so there's a bunch of shared vocabulary, you have to account for that having an easing effect as well) and picking up the details and minutiae of the grammar, and that is a much easier process when you already know the basics. You basically ignored my post; I gave you proof that it's possible to learn another language without paying money for it. I think you underestimate the power of person learning things on their on. I'll admit that it's a bit more difficult, but if you have the time to learn, then it's not as hard as you think.
  19. I personally rather have more, since Baldur's gate 2 gave us enough variety, and still gave us interesting characters. Each fitting different alignments, personality traits, and party compositions. I personally found characters like Anomen and Sarevok more interesting than many of the PS:T companions. And honestly, as much as I love the game, I though PS:T companions were completely overrated as far as character development goes. Besides Morte and Dak'kon, none of the other characters were all that developed when it comes to banter (IMO).
  20. Honestly, this wouldn't be a problem if the mods actually did their job and moderated the forums. Apparently they are either lazy or they don't do crap sometimes.
  21. So translation is not free, but learning a foreign language is? Do you have any idea how difficult it is to learn a foreign language once you're over twelve years old, let alone twenty or higher? It would take at least a year (if the person learning the language is VERY talented at learning languages or speaks a relatively similar language like Dutch or German) and usually much more than that of learning a foreign language from scratch until someone who is over twenty years old got to the point where they could play the game without any language barrier problems. And let me tell you, if learning that language is not a part of your regular elementary and high-school education, that costs a LOT of money. I'm not even going to talk about how ridiculous it is to suggest that someone should learn a foreign language just so they could play a video game. I believe that is self-explanatory. Money has nothing to do with learning a language, it's time and dedication. I learned Spanish while I was college in the US, but I pretty much learn Japanese myself before moving to Japan. I paid about $80 USD for a book, but that's hardly "expensive." Nevertheless, i agree with you. Learning a language isn't easy. It took me nearly a year and a half before I was able to speak Japanese somewhat clearly, and I'm still learning.
  22. You can be a dragon in NWN1 and NWN2 with transformation spells. It could be a cool transformation spell for Druids or Mages.
  23. Not when you consider that great majority of them don't speak English, which is the official language of the forum. They probably have their own forums for discussing the game where they can do it in their own language. I would agree on chinise, but not on others. Japans and Koreans know very well english language, but they are more confortable in JRPG rather than a typical occidental RPG: how many people there have played Baldur's Gate instead of Final Fantasy? Portuguese players had really few games translated in the past, so this one can't be mandatory. MULTI5 is not a standard, but is for sure the most used format in videogames industry, and yes the italian is in. What about supporting a comunity who is here and claim for attention instead an ipotetical comunity that hides itself in non-english forums? You voted for something that you're not interested in at all. Why?! What's more, we know that in Japan and in Korea WRPG are not very popular. They prefer Final Fantasy or Starcraft to Planescape or Arcanum, for example. All we know that. Honestly, anything is possible over here. Fallout 3 did very well over here for an American game. Of course, I guess that had to do with Marketing. Honestly, change the ingame artwork to an anime style during a localization, and it may do ok over here.
  24. Well, Viconia romance was indisputably great, but I guess it won't convince the majority of female players that BG2 had good romances... Hopefully we're past the age of games tailored to male players. I did end up modding my game so my female PC was registered by everyone as male, then proceeded to wonder why female characters had to put up with Anomen while dudes got Viconia. I wanted us to be two badass ladies kicking everyone's backsides and engaging in vicious, snarky banter together! You know the strange thing I notice about Anomen? It's mostly women who seem to hate him, while men seem to like him a lot or just don't care about him. I think it has something to with him being the only romancable male though. I personally <3 Anomen.
  25. I'm not really into cheating, but it should definitely have a console mode (which you could probably enable via an ini file in the library). Having a console allows you to test many things (like increasing the levels on enemies, spawning more enemies, etc) without the use of mods.
