Unnecessary features
Bill Gates' Son replied to Awathorn's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I would just like to point out that many people (including me) requested this feature since this was an opinion in BG1, BG2, and Icewind Dale. -
Sounds like the one who's **** talking is you. I didn't know this was about Sensuki? How about discuss things like the review instead of **** talking other people.Yeah, I have nothing but respect for Sensuki despite our differences in opinion on this matter. I couldn't name a single person on this forum who has (to my knowledge) put in a fraction of the time Sensuki has on making the game better. Literally hundreds and hundreds of bug reports during the Beta. I thought the review was pretty terrible when I made that original post and I still do. But Sensuki has every right to think otherwise, and that doesn't make him a "coward". He doesn't like PoE. That's fine. I wish he did, mostly for his sake since he's put so much time into the game - but he doesn't and that's his right. I'm sick of this excuse. Just because he put a lot of time into the beta doesn't mean he has to go around acting like a ****. He clearly made this topic for trolling purposes considering he hates the game AND he posted this link to this thread in the RPGcodex thread just to show how butthurt some of the fan are here.

Frankly, the character you're describing here isn't a joiner, or sure doesn't seem like one. There's a difference between your fully evil psychopath and just being plain ol' greedy, for example. The kind of character you're describing is probably someone even a lot of "evil" PC's wouldn't want around. He sounds like a perpetual loose cannon or a rabid dog that needs to be put down, rather than anyone you'd actually be willing to risk letting into your party. I think that it's entirely possible to create an "evil" NPC that's nowhere near that extreme and still be what most people would see as evil. But you see, we already have that kind of character. We have Durance. He is a completely reprehensible human being. Aloth himself can come across as something less than a shining example of humanity (elfanity, whatever). All your companions have more then the usual level of blood thirstiness (except Eder, and he is just adorable) , so I am not sure what people want in terms of their "evil" companion. Durance is an Ignis. What some people (like me) want want are Edwin/Korgan/Viconia/Vhailor types. This has been expressed repeatedly. That being said, I'd kill for another Vhailor. Or another Ignis. Hell, I'd kill for a Morte. Heck, give me companions like all in PS:T companions. That game did "quality over quanity" companions better than PoE.

I don't see a problem. That's what the adventures hall is for.

The 8 Companions
Bill Gates' Son replied to Sensuki's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Seems like a terrible shame to me. She was such a unique character concept. Now, instead of a strong, armored priestess with a blunderbuss, we get a wild-eyed loon in a dirty robe carrying around a stick. In fact, it seems like there's very few female companions right now: just the eskimo dwarf, the feathered paladin and a potentially dead or insane woman. Please bring back Cadegund. Having neither Cadegund or Forton is a disappointment. I really hope they appear in the games as NPCs or perhaps NPCs in the expansion or sequel. As fur Durance, we know he's going to be "insane" and he's being written by Chris Avellone. No doubt he's going to be an interesting character. -
I love bioware games, but I didn't exactly find DA:I all that great either. If you like single player MMOs, then hey, more power to you. I found most of the game boring. I'm also glad that Dragonfall is getting more recognition; it's probably the most overlooked game of the 2014.

Why I love PoE so far, based on the beta
Bill Gates' Son replied to IndiraLightfoot's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
So it's a disturbing trend despite the fact that class weapon restrictions have existed in RPGs since the beginning? This "trend" existed for 30+ years now. -
I think $45 is a "bit" expensive. At least, more so than you average indie game with a similar scale. I think $40 is the sweet spot for this kind of game. That's exactly what D:OS, WL2, Blackguards, and even AAA looking games like The Talos Principle cost. I certainly hope the more expensive price doesn't hamper sales.

No thanks. The round system is was the main thing I hated about IE combat (and in the NWN series). It didn't feel fluid enough for me, especially when playing a spell caster.

Sensuki's Let's Play Icewind Dale
Bill Gates' Son replied to Sensuki's topic in Computer and Console
Same. People think IWD is nothing but a hack n slash, but there is an interesting storyline in the game if you actually don't skip the dialog. -
The UI is sexy. I hope they don't change it.

Trying to play a wizard - what am I missing here?
Bill Gates' Son replied to thelee's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
The same for priest as well. Seems they gave all the cool spells back in the IE games to Ciphers and chanters. Priests spell casting is extremely bland compared to clerics. -
Pretty disappointed, this launches in December?
Bill Gates' Son replied to khermann's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
All of the IE games had a lot of major differences. To say there is only one true definition of the IE feeling is asinine. -
Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition Announced
Bill Gates' Son replied to CoM_Solaufein's topic in Computer and Console
While the story wasn't the biggest focus in IWD, I actually enjoyed it more than BG's story. Some of the characters and story dungeons in IWD where well done. That, along with the game's beautiful art style and atmosphere made the game memorable to me. It doesn't seem like they're adding much content, but it would interesting playing through the game again with some of the BG2 kits. -
Considering the games drought that hit this summer and the fact that DOS is the most decent (I'd daresay best) game that has come out this year. Those that tend to hyperbole would no doubt exalt it as such. Still, I'd say this before and I will say it again: it needs a better questing system and journal descriptions. Drought? Plenty of decent games came out this summer and for the the whole year. However, there is no doubt though D:OS is probably one the best among them( though I did had more fun playing Dark Souls 2 and Shovel Knight).
