  1. And yet it is constantly compared. The last 10 articles I read on gaming sites about Pillars 2, had Divinity mentioned in it. Which is also the only reason why I brought it up. I'm not here often enough/read enough to know what people usually do here. Real reviewers? Reviewers shape opinions whether you consider them real or not. Trust me on this. Not to mention this https://twitter.com/jesawyer/status/911663832732278784 DOS2 is currently the best selling modern CRPG. To say that DOS2 didn't have any influence at all for the full voice acting decision is a bit asinine.
  2. I was, and I still am. Having access to more characters is something I always enjoy in an RPG. Besides, even if they don't have a lot of banter with other npcs, I'm sure they will still have stuff to the player character f they're going to be hanging around on the ship. Funny though, Mazzy was one of my favorite characters from BG2. Hopefully at least one of the PoE2 sidekicks will be equally enjoyable to have in the party. Same. They'll be good enough to me if they have as much content as the less important NPCs from BG2.
  3. You're right, but the thing is... do we know that? I don't really follow the streams too often, so I apologize if I'm wrong right off the bat, but I feel confident enough to say that - right now - we don't know for sure whether any of that will happen. Is what you're describing really the case here? Yes, Josh stated that we will get to know his story on his last Q&A - a really weak Q&A tbh. Maybe we will get to know his story through the game, like we did with Durance. But, like someone already said, why would I take a sidekick if I can take a full companion with a relationship system? I would only consider that if the sidekick would be really funny and interesting, maybe getting the sidekicks into the relationship system would fix their problem. Pretty sure you can still talk to him (and other companions) on the ship, so you probably don't have to take him with you to learn his full story.
  4. Where are these trolls? I've been here since I backed the game and have never seen any trolls but I have seen people get classified as trolls just because a person doesn't like or agree with what they say (usually the case on the Internet anyway). Won't name any names, but there one regular forum member here who's a jerk towards everybody. You probably already know whom I'm talking about. But the trolls I'm mainly talking about are people who make topics just to start a flame war. There aren't that many, but they do appear. They're not too much a problem. Also, major bugs usually get fixed as soon as possible with a hotfix. I'm not that worried at all.
  5. I've seen developers post on Something Awful (just Josh himself) and RPGcodex, and IMO, those places are a lot worse than the Obsidian forums. Besides a few trolls, I don't think this place is all that bad. Perhaps they just prefer other forums because of their own preferences? But really, if you want to talk to some of the developers, just go the PoE discord. They talk all the time over there.
  6. I wouldn't say most, but I definitely say characters like Mazzy, Valygar, Korgan, and a few others would probably fit as sidekicks. Also, someone like the Devil from PoE1 could theoretically fit as a sidekick as well. You could finish her main quest in minutes after recruiting her, but she still had some banters with other characters. I assume the sidekicks will be similar to her when it comes to character interaction and content.
  7. They're optional. If someone doesn't like them, then they don't have to use them.
  8. While I do like the current Ydwin, I do like how that Ydwin looks close to her original concept art. I still prefer the original Xoti though. Also, seems that 4chan is monitoring this topic. :D
  9. Kind of risky doing an open world game with an AA budget in the current generation. You'll end up with mixed results like Elex (a game which I adore, but critics are not so kind to it).
  10. Based on everything we know, probably. But who knows? There may be hidden sidekicks in the game. I personally think that's possible.
  11. Crew members will be getting both. https://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Vektor According to Josh in that last stream, there will be story crew members and generic crew members. I assume the generic crew members will get player portraits like the crew members in the beta.
  12. I'm definitely going to enjoy using Fassina as a sorcerer. That's one of my favorite multiclass combos in the beta.
  13. Agreed. The game is coming out soon, but I don't think I've heard any new music other than the unfinished combat music in the beta.
  14. The portrait in the npc folder looks a bit different than the one in the companion folder. Maybe that's an early prototype, or maybe she changes her hat and clothes when she joins your crew or party.
  15. Clearly the sidekick replacing Ydwin when she gets announced as a surprise companion. But no, crew member or quest giver is a safe bet. I thought quest givers only have watercolor portraits. Anyway, maybe you're right, but I can still dream for the next 2 months.
  16. Someone at the Pillars wiki said that she may be a sidekick because she has a large portrait. I hope that's true.
  17. You're overreacting a bit mate. They're not going to lock a thread because of a few disagreements. This thread has been tamed compared to some of the weird troll topics you made on the deadfire forums.
  18. The codex is an awful and horrifying place The fact that I used to agree with the people over at RPGCodex is a persistent source of mild shame for me. Codex is a cool place with many interesting and nuanced discussions, and a very diverse pool of members from all around the world. Not sarcasm. Diverse, sure (although the internet is a just diverse by itself). Nuance? No, definitely not. Just lots of casual slurs, racism, sexism, and tons of whining
  19. Not sure why you're complaining. It's not the typical party size topic that complains about not having 6 party members.
  20. BG1 characters barely had any content at all. I'm pretty sure Josh said they would be equivalent to Mazzy or Minsc. Both characters had content, but it wouldn't that substantial.
  21. Although the dialogue options were limited, I felt I did more roleplaying in a non RPG like Zelda BOTW than in typical JRPGs like the Tales series. There were some dialogue options in the game that would make Link sound like a jerk
  22. Divinity Original Sin 2, which does count as an isometric RPG, is definitely one of the most popular and highest games this year, and it's a PC exclusive. It definitely has a chance of being RPG GOTY for many sites and I'm sure it will sell close to a million copies long before the console versions hits. Great. That's really impressive for an isometric RPG. Witcher 3 sold 4 million copies in *two weeks*. That's not counting 1.5 million pre-orders. That's the difference between a niche success and a mainstream hit. Do you think Pillars 2 is going to sell 4 million copies in it's first two weeks? Because I doubt it. I seriously, seriously doubt it. W3 was released on 3 different platforms. DOS2 was released on one. DOS2 also has one of the highest peaked player counts on steam (close to 100,000 people playing it at the same time). No, I seriously think DOS2 is going to sale a lot of copies, especially when it comes on consoles. It won't do Witcher 3's or Skyrim's numbers, but I think it will do low tier AAA numbers. As for PoE2, I don't think it will do as well. No controller support, no full voice acting, and a niche graphical style are going to hold it back from going mainstream. But I gues it will do well enough for a niche game.
