You like Eld Nary ? You like Bellower ? Then you'll like the new BPM minor version that basically does only that : Deadfire Balance Polishing Mod at Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Nexus - Mods and Community (nexusmods.com) The Bellower Power Level bonus lasts until next invocation (when it is replaced by the new, even if worse). So you'll get the full benefit of Power Level (Acc, PEN, damages, slowing effect duration, additional bounces) for Eld Nary and its upgrade (I haven't found another Invocation which would get similar benefit). Okay if somehow you manage to recast an invocation before the end of Eld Nary (or more likely its upgrade), the PL might be altered (to worse or better), but shouldn't change much the result. (e.g. If you cast Eld Nary with 5 phrases Empowered by Sasha's and then immediately a 7 phrases Invocation, you'll even get a couple more PL for Eld Nary, but it is marginal and even quite fun I think). Sorry for the minor versions spam. I could have waited more, but due to personal constraints, I prefer to do it this way this time.3 points

I ran across a skeleton on the road next to a dead body. I got my mace ready, but then the skeleton didn't attack me as I approached, so I cautiously went up to it and, lo and behold, it spoke. Turns out it was a mage trying out a new illusion spell and things went sideways. It turned his clothes, skin, and organs invisible, but the skeleton stayed visible, and worse yet the spell is not wearing off. The dead body was some poor sod he tried to wave down for help that had a heart attack when he saw a talking skeleton waving and coming at him. I decided to help the guy out and he asked me to first get him a shovel so that he could properly bury the guy. When I returned with a shovel a pair of Hlaalu guards were there. Luckily, I managed to talk them down. There's more to the quest but I'll leave it at that.3 points

I am not concerned with Russian ultra-nationalists, I am interested in knowing what percentage of the population falls for this kind of propaganda. Not that it matters, and not that I'm ever going to know, but I am interested in any case. I would like to see an end to the war, even if it is in the distance, but at the moment I only see one way to bring the end closer: as many Russian soldiers as possible need to be killed as quickly and efficiently as possible. That's extremely harsh, but I don't see any other realistic way towards ending the war.2 points

not to derail the thread but while you owned "nothing" in the USSR, you didn't pay for it either. I don't think that's the model Ubi execs have in mind2 points

A popular Russian TV programme called Vesti Nedeli did a special piece on Finland last Sunday, claiming that 1) Finland is more russophobic than the US, 2) all Russian-language schools in Finland will be closed, 3) Russians living in Finland will be stripped of their citizenship, 4) Finland will try to take Karelia back by force and 5) Finland is also dreaming of a new Greater Finland that would stretch all the way beyond the Urals [!]. Several decades ago, one of our best poets, Paavo Haavikko, wrote that "parody has become impossible / they're doing it themselves". That observation fits perfectly with this example of Russian television. The pertinent question is, what percentage of viewers take the programme seriously and how many of them will recognize it's all rather hopeless and untrue. I have no idea, and I suppose no one does.2 points

Not going to stop until they start putting execs into prison. Otherwise, they'll keep running Boeing shambolically on a pure short term profit basis because there's not enough incentive/ consequences for them not to. Boeing has the perfect trifecta of prestige/ strategic industry, Too Big to Fail and its competitor not being able to come close to satisfy the whole market's demand (plus only one competitor, no 737 --> A320 monopoly). The wait time for a 737 or A320 is almost identical- 12 years. Shut the 737 down and someone switching to Airbus could expect delivery of their planes in, well, 2044.2 points

From the gamedata files, abilities (from classes) are listed under the usagetype Classpowerpool (in opposition to Spell). In other hand, some abilities are not named (none) and maybe frightened and Writ of War take in account only the Classpowerpool name. For information, in LAXG abilities gamedata, Helfire_barrage at usagetype is listed as None.2 points

You mean you'll get the +15 defense bonus against fire attacks but not frost attacks? Well that's lame... Edit: I cannot confirm that. Here Aloth is casting a Chillfog on my MC who wears the (non-upgraded) Mundane Shell: Edit 2: upgraded to Nonconductive (+15 defense against shock), still works. The problem seems to be the implementation of Maelstrom, not the shield. The spell has a separate frost part with a separate attack roll and then a secondary roll with the other elements. The frost part seems to be lacking the proper "frost" keyword I guess, so the shield does nothing - while it applies BOTH defensive buffs to the second attack roll because that is keyworded with fire AND shock: Edit 3: tested Call of Rymrgand with the shield and it works: So I believe only Maelstrom's faulty keywording was the problem. Of course one could find that certain enemies' elemental abilities also might lack the proper keyword, but that's just speculation on my part.2 points

This is thread is ancient but since its the first result for searching for Deadfire Mundane Shell its as good a place as any for me to report that this item is bugged in that the frost resistance part of thermally stable doesn't work, you only get the resistance against fire effects. Discovered while trying to stand inside friendly call of rymrgand + maelstrom and not take damage.2 points

I have a memory foam mattress, medium firm, and I love it. There's no chance I ever go back to box spring. I don't know what the expected lifetime of a memory foam mattress is, but I've had it for over a decade and it's still great. Sleeping well is no small matter so don't compromise on a mattress. Get the one that feels best for you even if it hurts your bank account. That's better than hurting your body. There are few investments more important.1 point

In the video pickabale items and lootable opjects seem to have pretty unmissable shine to them. Personally, I don't see a good alternative solution. Unfortunately, as games became more visually busy, it became necessary to distinguish interactables from static decoration. Definitely doesn't look nice on screenshots or gameplay footage, but I generally don't notice them when I play. I would rather have those, that XRAY vision, that makes it difficult to enjoy the artstyle entirely.1 point

The ultimate answer to that is that it still makes Valve money. Not like they have massive staffing or infrastructure costs- in absolute terms, sure they'd be large, but not on a per transaction basis. Indeed, the more transactions they have the lower the cost per transaction is and the cheaper they could sell at profitably (in theory). And Steam certainly has a lot of sales volume.1 point

Anatomy of a Fall (2023). Man, I'm getting a bit tired of all these uneconomically long, single-toned films with characters/dialogue so flat/'realistic' you'd think you were watching raw documentary footage. They used to make movies! It's a perfectly fine film, I'm just a little weary of it.1 point

I'm also doing a bunch of pushups. Currently at 50 a day working up to 100. I can't run or even walk much but with decent eating habits and all my bodyweight exercises, not to mention that I was sick during the gorging period from Festivus to New Year's Day, I'm in pretty good shape for this part of the year.1 point

Today, my mother struggled a bit to get her groceries inside her apartment. My wife said that we should go help her, and I put on a really serious expression and said: "Be careful of charity and kindness, lest you do more harm with open hands then a clenched fist." Then I burst out laughing, but in this instance, Kreia was pretty much right: to take the struggle from her is to weaken her.1 point

Yep, it should work. No you don't have to manipulate the translation files. Without the main files, the game won't point to the new text. Modded text is harmless on its own. And a wrong manip within the modded text file can lead to : That. This a symptom of text file erroneous manip, not a symptom of main files manip. By the way the instructions are on the mod page.1 point

Just some randoms from here and there. The "danger" of letting people upload/rename planets, animals and plants etc. This was during an expedition I tried. Normally I see nothing because I stay far far far away from any popular/discovered systems. Ship? Who needs a ship? I've tried to capture the visual sensation of discovering/running through some large/kewl cave systems, but I always fail. Yes, I am your Master now. (the creature's natural walking posture is actually already head-bent over but when it "looks" down at you it gets extreme)1 point

I'm continuing my mainland Morrowind adventures. I'm kind of curious if I can get to and from Vvardenfell without fast traveling. I can see the peninsula that Ebonheart is on, partially because I'm running on 5X draw distance, but still. I could try swimming, but don't want to deal with all the sea creatures. Once I get my alteration skill higher (read: 50+) I'll get a longer duration water walking spell and test whether there is an invisible wall to stop me or not. I did wind up finding the thief that stole my money. She offered to give me back my money to avoid conflict and I took her up on her offer. I had the option of attacking her or trying to apprehend her to bring to the authorities, but I only really wanted my money back and if the authorities wanted her captured they could have done it themselves. They were the ones that told me where she tended to hide out. There were several paupers also living in those same Dwemer ruins. Had she told me she was using the money to help the homeless, I would have believed her and let her keep the money, 500 gold isn't a big deal to me. But she didn't so I took my money and left. I'm currently on a pilgrimage so I headed toward the mining town of Bodrum, since it has a shrine I need to visit nearby. There is a Daedric shrine near Andothren and I explored it. The cultists inside didn't take kindly to that, but they were no match for me. I talked to the guardian inside and she told me that I killed her cultists but they were annoying $#!+s so she left me alone. Fair enough. I looted the crap out of the shrine but made sure to do so out of her sight. I then stopped at the fishing/harbor village of Teys for the night on my way west: After a long hike along the coast then through some mountains, I crossed a river and neared Bodrum. Here are what looks to be Dwemer ruins near the town off in the distance: And the town itself: A+ for consistency so far. Andothren very much resembles Balmora in architecture, which makes sense since it's a Hlaalu city. Bodrum is a Redoran town and the architecture reflects that.1 point

I dunno. It got some graphical uplift, but nothing groundbreaking. Either it is not remaster, or remastering 3 years old game is stupid. Pick whatever you prefer.1 point

How far away are we from developers announcing remasters/remakes the same year the original came out? 10 years? 5 years? What's the endgame of this trend? On launch day of the original game, by the time that you finish downloading the game there's a remaster not only announced but already out?1 point

I think I've mentioned a number of times over the years about how they must be the single worst major video game publisher in all North America and Europe for producing games that are in any way actually fun, so that really doesn't surprise me. I've always felt that if there were a single publisher I could wipe off the face of the Earth, it'd have to be Ubisoft: this new line of theirs doesn't really phase me, though it is probably indicative of a new disturbing trend that we'll be seeing more of sometime soon.1 point

In case you missed it there will be XBOX's Developer Direct in couple of hours: https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2024/01/09/xbox-developer-direct-2024/ We should finally get some info on the Indiana Jones game, and a deeper look into Avowed (finally! Please, don't disappoint...). On a less confirmed note: Elden Ring DLC news might be coming, or even shadowdropping. A while ago there was Elden Ring controller leak that suggested possible February 2024 Shadow of Erdtree release. Recent Elden Ring steam update made such possibility a little bit more likely: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/elden-ring-dlc-update-on-steams-backend-hints-that-shadow-of-the-erdtrees-release-could-be-very-very-close There is also some rumbling about Silksong and February - though from what I gathered, it is just wishful thinking at this point.1 point

I'm running the Tamriel Rebuilt mod. As you can see in the map in the upper right of the picture above, I am not in Vvardenfell nor Solstheim, I'm on the mainland of Tamriel, specifically the city of Andothren. What this mod aims to do is restore the original vision of TES III: Morrowind, which was the entirety of Morrowind, not just Vvardenfell (and later Solstheim in the Bloodmoon expansion). The game wound up getting scaled down, as games often are, and this mod tries to scale it back up. The project has been in development for nearly 20 years and is still in development today. They currently have roughly half of mainland Morrowind implemented, which is still A LOT and quite impressive for people working in their spare time. There are also other mods in development that implement other provinces into TES III: Morrowind, but I'm not running any of those. In theory, the entirety of Tamriel will one day be playable in this game... One day in 2092. If you are wondering how you reach the mainland, they've added a few Travel NPCs to existing locations. A couple to docks, letting you travel by boat, and a couple to Mage Guilds who will teleport you. Below is the dock just north of Vivec. In the vanilla game there would only be one NPC there: I'm not sure if this mod has restored House Indoril and/or House Dres. In the vanilla game a major plot point is the sixth house, yet there are only three great houses in the game, which may have you wondering about houses four and five. As you may have guessed already, those are Indoril and Dres, and they were originally going to be joinable, have quests, and allow you to rise through the ranks, just like Hlaalu, Redoran, and Telvanni. Like mainland Morrowind, they were a victim of the scaling down. I doubt they're implemented, I would think that would be prominently advertised in the mod description, but who knows? There are supposed to be hundreds of new quests and items, though. I got a quest already when I got robbed of 500 gold when sleeping at an inn in Andothren. After a bit of digging, I found out that it was a well known petty thief and I'm going to track her down, but not until after I fully explore the city (she's known to hide out in nearby Dwemer ruins). Anyway, I'm impressed so far and I'll report back as to the quality of the writing, art, quests, etc. God bless these people still working on mods for a 22 year old game.1 point

Cult of the Lamb The mini-game was quite fun. Cloud Meadow (the community hub on Steam is not safe for work) Control I did not realise that it was a passage. Later on, it is frustrating to see them on the map and the outlines on the walls, but being unable to use them. Might be the temperature, but I wish it was a cover-based shooter. The regenerating ammo reminded of Mass Effect 1. The game is pretty, though I'm not quite fond of the general gameplay design - there are RNG'ed padding missions and rather pointless XP-based character development system.1 point

My House Redoran duties have taken me to the quaint fishing village of Ald Velothi in the northernmost part of West Gash. Neo Ranga (1998). I got through like seven episodes, but it's so confusing and everything feels so inexplicable/poorly explained that all I know is that, one, it's very clearly a Neon Genesis Evangelion rip-off, and two, nobody has ever seen it. I cannot really make heads or tails of what it's trying to accomplish, except that it's obviously trying to cash in on the general style and mannerisms of Neon Genesis Evangelion...just, uh, without necessarily doing it all that well. Well, the art and animation are nice enough, the character writing seems alright, scenes in a vacuum are well-made...but as to the overall story and how it flows as a whole, I really just am not getting it even after so many episodes. Long and short of what I know is that the brother of three sisters (pictured above) went missing a decade earlier, said brother somehow became a king of some island in the Pacific, he suddenly passed away, and then a mecha-god awakens from the island and invades Japan in order...to follow them around and basically be their guardian angel, causing massive disruptions to the central and local governments as it just levels entire buildings by accident? You know, now that I say all that out-loud, it sure sounds pretty stupid. The show is 48 episodes long, so I'm sure the thing serves some greater purpose, but information online is pretty threadbare because again, it seems nobody watched it, ergo no good explanations as to what the heck is going on. I don't know, forays into old, obscure stuff sure can be difficult and weird. I can only presume from the posters of this show that the three girls are eventually absorbed into or at least start to be able to control the thing, but if that's what ends up happening, there isn't any hint of it from what I've seen, and I'm not super compelled to keep watching more at this point, so...0 points

Hmm. I wonder. Hmm. ....well, it's possible (re: "forcing" excessive base radius limit) but maybe not very advisable. Deleted the longest connector bridge to save building-parts count #'s, plus it's too far away for walkin' so I'd just fly to that mt. top anyway. I had to radius-glitch over there to build a landing pad first tho. Anyway, not sure I really like this result (I might change it) but it was kinda fun trying. Plus now I'm more knowledgeable in case I ever find a better "spot." ...now I just have to remember to always save/exit on the landing pad/ship, so I don't fall thru the floor on save-loading, like so often happens if you use a portable save-point beacon placed on a floor tile, instead. >.> Edit: It'd be cool to build an entire "city" in the sky, filling up that whole space between pillars, but there's this parts-limit per base - 3000 if you want to upload/share it - and a total parts for entire single save (20k?). You can reach that really quickly if you go crazy. EVERY power connecting wire you use counts as a "part", stuff like that.0 points
