  1. Greetings Watchers, patch 1.3.7.1411 is live to all players! Please let us know if you run into any issues during your time with this updated version of the game. https://support.obsidian.net/contact The player log file has been moved by Unity and it can be found in the following location: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Obsidian Entertainment\Pillars of Eternity It has been renamed player.log You can also opt out of this current update by using the Legacy branch in Steam. In your Steam Library Right click on Pillars of Eternity, and select "Properties" Select the "Beta" Tab, and click the Drop Down for labeled "NONE - Select "legacy - Legacy build 1.3.7.1356" Close the Window, and you should have a download ready. Attempting to play the game should automatically trigger the download. 1.3.7.0.1377 changes are in bold. General: We have updated to Unity Version 2019.4.11. Updated graphics to DirectX 11. Fixed an issue where backer rewards would appear or unlock incorrectly. Also fixed a case where backer rewards might not unlock at all for users in the public beta. Corrected save file location for the public beta (You should no longer need to move save files into a _Local_ directory for them to show up correctly). Fixed an issue that prevented POE1 saves from being imported to POE2 after the last patch. If you possess a save game that could not be imported, loading and re-saving should correct the issue. Fixed an issue that caused some users to receive DLC content and/or backer items without having proper access to them. If you possess a save game that will not load on 3.7.1.1411 or later, due to it being created with DLC you did not purchase, please send us a support ticket along with your GOG or Steam username and a copy of a save game that has the issue (if multiple saves are affected, you only need to send 1 so we can verify). This issue did not affect users on Game Pass or Epic. Removed duplicate unused asset bundle files that artificially increased installation size. Navigation: Fixed areas that could not be navigated in numerous scenes. The lake in Cayron's Scar should no longer be unintentionally traversable when submerged. Fixed some cases where NPCs would become stuck when pathing during cutscenes. Fixed some cases where NPCs would walk or run in place during cutscenes. Fixed a handful of doors throughout various scenes that could be walked through due to lacking proper collision. Visual and Audio: Fixed multiple cases where characters might T-Pose briefly at the beginning of a cutscene. Fixed an issue where paperdolls in character creation and inventory screens might appear blurry. Overwhelming Wave should more reliably play its visual effects. Fixed VFX issues with the Woodskin spell rotating or attaching incorrectly. Symbols western chamber of Lle a Rhemen should now properly light up when expected. Fixed redundant horn audio playing after the battle of Yenwood. Fixed an issue where attempting to open locked containers could play multiple voice lines at once. Fixed a handful of cases where dialogue audio wouldn’t play when certain nodes were re-triggered. VFX will no longer become displaced when a character teleports or uses a movement ability. Unstrung Bow’s visuals will now properly appear on the ground when discovered. Soul Whip VFX are no longer lost on save/load or transitions. Penetrating Shot, Vulnerable Attack, Savage Attack, and similar VFX should no longer be lost on save/load or transitions. Released soul VFX in Sun in Shadow should now display correctly. Fixed an issue with Ninagauth’s Freezing Pillar VFX overlapping other visuals. Gafonercos will remain correctly positioned after completing certain attacks. Potion of Fleet Feet now properly plays a drinking animation. Reading from scrolls and rites will now position the scroll correctly in the reader’s hands. Fixed an issue that would cause water VFX to display improperly in certain areas. Fixed an issue where spoken dialogue was being unintentionally affected by reverberation. Quests and Dialogue: Ready the Cannons side quest should now properly update its objectives. Dialogue from Buried Secrets quest should no longer allow the player to demand their payment more than once. Fixed an issue where multiple barked lines in Gilded Vale could overlap excessively. Fixed an issue where Eder’s bark lines in the Temple of Eothas may end abruptly. Fixed a case where Calisca could trigger the wrong bark line near the camp inside Cilant Lîs. Fixed bark lines in Defiance Bay cutting short after their first line. Crag Ogres in Flames-That-Whisper Cavern should now more reliably play their banter on approach. Prisoners in Icantha’s house should no longer respawn in certain cases after save/load. Combat and Mechanics: Earth Blights should no longer sometimes detach from their selection circles when dominated. Scroll of Ray of Fire should now appear correctly and more accurately match the behavior of the Ray of Fire spell. Fixed a case where manually resolving stronghold combat could sometimes yield no rewards. Fixed a case where prone characters might try to move while prone, resulting in sliding behavior. Concelhaut’s Draining Missiles should no longer occasionally show 0.0 damage in the combat log. Weapon Specialization: Peasant should now reliably add its damage to unarmed attacks. Fixed some cases where the Halt spell might confuse enemy AI, causing them to repeatedly interrupt and re-attempt their own actions. Removed errant untargetable Xaurip that could sometimes appear in Dyrford Crossing. Fixed a case where Sleafhota might teleport to an alternate location mid-dialogue before attacking the player. Attacking Osrya directly will now reliably engage with her revenant and skeleton minions. Fixed a case where all survival camping bonuses might appear after spending only a single skill rank on Survival. One-Eyed Molina’s Gold-Fingered Spike-Flinger’s last two soulbound upgrades now increase Reload Speed instead of decreasing it. Deadfire Pack’s soulbound weapons now have the Universal weapon group. Fixed an issue with status effects from old saves duplicating when loaded on newer builds. Battle-Forged Godlike racial ability should no longer trigger a hit on the owner when non-hostile abilities are used (E.g. Second Wind). Caedebald’s Blackbow and Llengrath’s Blunt Wisdom are now of the universal weapon type. Stalker’s Torc item should now apply and display its effects correctly. Psychic and Brutal Backlash now correctly respect their per encounter rules. St. Ydwen’s Redeemer no longer displays “Destroys Vessels” activations in the combat log when not fighting a vessel. Scroll of Minoletta’s Minor Missiles will now better match the effects of the origin spell. User Interface and Interaction: Fixed a UI issue where chants could sometimes clip beyond their scrolling frame. Fixed a case where the damage type icon on the character sheet might not position correctly. Fixed some cases where assigning companions to multiple stronghold missions at once might cause UI issues. Quick loading with the crafting or enchanting UI open should no longer result in a permanent black screen. Fixed a typo in the description of Animal Companions. Fixed an issue where highlighting certain parts of a defeated enemy would not allow you to loot them. Doors in some scenes that were difficult to interact with have had their collision revised and should now be more reliable. Fixed a case where the final pressure plate in the Temple of Woedica would not appear. Examining the wall trophy inside of Elm’s Reach should now be possible. Skipping intros when first starting the client should now be more responsive. Fixed accuracy tooltips not appearing on the character sheet. Interactable tree in the Abbey of the Fallen Moon now can be interacted with properly. Fixed a bug preventing interactable highlights from appearing after opening the map. Fixed an issue that caused tooltips to sometimes shake in the UI. Fixed incorrect version numbers across different platforms. They should all match now and increment correctly. Known Issues: Some users have reported crashing on 32-bit operating systems. While 32-bit operating systems fall below our minimum requirements, users that had better luck on 3.4.0.1318 will find a Legacy branch available Steam/GOG which may yield better results. Some users on GOG have reported a black screen on startup. This is being investigated, but disabling the Galaxy overlay appears to be a temporary solution. This update is currently unavailable for OSX & Linux. We are investigating bringing these platforms up to speed as part of a future patch. The feedback from the community surrounding this release has been wonderful. Thank you all for the continued support!

  3. JA3 is probably my best game of the year and probably the best comeback of a series as well. I struggled with BG3 but I struggle with pretty much all Larian games so I think Larian plus 5th edition was probably never going to do it for me despite Baldur's Gate being one of the foundational series of my gaming life along with Fallout and MechWarrior.

  4. I had just unlocked the next difficulty level and it didn't seem to make much difference at first, but the game might have read my post because the very next mission I played, it handed me my ass. I went from never having a character knocked out to wiping 10 times before I got lucky with a 5 enemy KO. The henchmen are using new skills that I've never noticed before, so things have definitely taken a turn. I've also spiced things up by changing which heroes I'm using in every fight. I'm not a fan of the Marvel movies and haven't seen one in a long time. Superheroes are a complete change of pace for me, but the only problem is I don't know who half of them are. Midnight Suns is growing on me. I don't think I'll ever like running around and collecting stuff, but in the Emo Kids meeting when I had failed to gather enough ingredients, Majik just shrugged and said she hates doing that too

  5. This is *exactly* how I feel as well, and @Wormerine can vouch that I said this very thing on the Larian forums over and over again when I kept coming under attack for criticizing the game. I really and truly *wanted* to belong to the BG3 fan community. But the game just isn't good for me in far too many ways.

  6. NCSoft gave Homecoming the licence to run their City Of Heroes community server in an official way. https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/47223-ncsoft-homecoming-license-announcement/ City of Heroes was a super hero mmo that NCSoft eventually shut down. Homecoming was a relatively recent attempt at a fan-run revival of the game.

  7. The Ultimate Warrior's most famous and easily best promo ever: While his delivery was different, he seemed to often try to tap into the same psychological, creepy, disturbing vibe that Jake "The Snake" Roberts tapped into on a regular basis. 99 out of 100 times he failed and the promo, which was nevertheless often entertaining for pure insanity reasons, was basically gibberish. This was the 1 out of 100 times that he actually succeeded. More rasslin' promo madness: I kind of miss these shouty promos filled with pure distilled insanity. They were utter bollocks, but they were entertaining.

  8. That BG3 just didn't resonate with me is a good way to put it. I didn't find characters endearing or interesting, I didn't find games premise to be well explored, I can't think of many choices that I particularly found difficult or interesting to make. Combat was a bit to messy for me to really engage with. A lot of systemic interactivity, but nothing that resulted in interesting problem solving. And just overall the "vibe" (visuals, music, character design) of the game didn't work for me. It's a very broad title, with many things to like and appreciate, but it felt like all promise and little payoff.

  9. Here is a longer version of my suggestion that was posted on the Grounded Discord (that received 35+ likes ^-^) [https://discord.com/channels/675491639804035089/786708112978477076/1181007520924446762] with additional ideas included: More items to craft or acquire using O.R.C. Receivers and/or more things to do with them: **Tiered Reward System:** - Collect enough O.R.C. Receivers to unlock rewards depending on how many O.R.C. receivers you collect (5, 10, 25, 50 etc., can be redeemed by an NPC such as BURG.L or new scientist mentioned below) - "One of the scientists that helped freed you, in order to hide from Ominent, is now in the backyard ready to help you (along with teaming up with Dr. Tully) by trading in your saved up O.R.C. Receivers to them." **O.R.C. Enhanced ZIP.R:** (Could work along with others' zipline upgrade ideas that suggest 2 aphids) - Trade in(?) for an upgraded zipline using O.R.C. Receivers - Aphids appear with O.R.C. Receiver on their head (default red lights changed to blue or green to show alliance) - Greatly Increase Zipline speed - Allows for transporting resources upward as well **Lil O.R.C. Receiver Helmet:** - Used in taming larger pets? - Or just cosmetic. Or both. - Different color lights? (Default red, or blue/green to show alliance) **O.R.C. Receiver Arrows:** - O.R.C. Homing Arrows: Can automatically redirect arrows to the closest enemy to your crosshair (Or: Every consecutive Homing Arrow will automatically redirect to the target you last did damage to?) - O.R.C. EMP Arrows: Inflict static shock damage - O.R.C. Mind Control Arrows: Temporarily cause a certain creature to fight on your side (default red lights changed to blue or green to show alliance) **O.R.C. Receiver Trinket:** - Automatically give arrows a slight "homing" ability (such as Homing Arrow suggestion) Or: - Small % chance to "mark" certain creatures to temporarily fight on your side when using any O.R.C. Receiver crafted arrows (default red lights changed to blue or green to show alliance) **O.R.C. Receiver Bomb:** - Inflict AoE shock damage Or: - Will automatically "mark" certain creatures within the blast's AoE range to temporarily fight on your side (default red lights changed to blue or green to show alliance) **O.R.C. Mantis Boss:** - Self explainatory - Late to End-Game - Fits lore and story progression/timeline (Broodmother -> Haze Canister -> Infected; Mantis -> Schmector Experiments -> O.R.C. Technology) **O.R.C. Armor:** - Crafted from "the broken down materials of multiple O.R.C Receivers" (description when trading in?) Or: - Crafted from a large amount of O.R.C. Receivers - Other pieces can be acquired from possibly a new "O.R.C. Mantis" boss - Full set bonus: When an enemy is hit, small % chance to "mark" certain nearby creatures to temporarily fight on your side (toggle the hat on them? Default red lights changed to blue or green to show alliance) Note: When it comes to all Mind Control features (small % chance to "mark") ideas mentioned above, an alternative can be to spawn random small creatures nearby the enemy and have them "seemingly" been mind controlled (have the blue/green O.R.C. Receiver helmet to show) Reasoning: Just fun ideas for late to end-game tech usage, courtesy of Dr. Wendell Tully's expertise on reverse-engineering his adversaries devices.

  10. Admittedly I haven’t played with an SC Ranger, but one thing that always struck me about this ability was how it was essentially a defensive CD with the mechanics feeling more about tactical retreat vs. lying in wait for a powerful ambush. Adding Intuitive is a great change, but I’d rather see it add more offensive potential. Ideas: - Invis, untargetable (breaks on attack); while invis regain health, gain hostile effect reduction; gain stacking +accuracy, +damage, +penetration (have these effects last for fixed 10s, but apply a new stack every 3s while invis (effective max 3 stacks).

  12. Frieren 17 Frieren and her party have to stay in a village during winter. Fern and Stark are "acting strange". Delicious in Dungeon 1 Very good first episode. They went direct to business, we even got two different meals. Nothing too weird so far, but the dwarf can probably eat anything he finds inside the dungeon. Marcille may be a contender to Anya and her face expressions.

  16. nah, my tests were a while ago, but i'm 99% sure that i did a test where i counted and it ended way too early. if i were to guess, i'd say that every time a bounce spell is about to bounce, it checks num_bounces <= max_bounces and that max_bounce number dynamically changes. it just is very very rare (borderline impossible outside of bellower and eld nary) for this to actually matter. edit: rather than try to search my memory, i checked my guide where pretty much everything in there has been tested or verified some other way, and i did indeed a note about it not working with eld nary back in 2019 (wow the years have really gone by!)

  17. Argenta is using a heavy bolter. You find pieces of equipment here and there that increase the rate of fire, and under the effect of Firearm Mastery and Rapid Fire, she now has a rate of fire of 20 with a burst. With all the damage bonuses applied she kills groups of mooks or even bosses in a single burst, and her damage stacks to truly ludicrous levels with each shot. Anyway, I just equipped the Halo Device. Fun fact, the crap is bugged as hell, if you want to use it you need to go to an area alone - some external area, not your voidship - otherwise companions will interfere and it will not be equipped but still take up an inventory slot.

  20. Played Cult of the Lamb. It is an action-roguelite with management elements. The management elements include raising the titular cult and taking revenge on the gods who demanded you to be sacrificed. The cult requires members, who can be found during expeditions or recruited after boss battles. In turn, these members produce Devotion, which is used to purchase new abilities and unlock new buildings, and require food and housing. The resources can be gathered during the above-mentioned expeditions, the Crusades, or grown at the base. The Crusades include venturing into the randomly arranged rooms, slaughtering the regular foes and the bosses, gathering resources, rescuing potential cult members, and occasionally meeting NPCs. The only negative aspects of the game are the random elements which are rather unpleasant - an unwieldy weapon, such as a hammer, can make a Crusade unsuccessful, and the requirement to sacrifice 3 followers to progress in the post-game. As I understand, it was added after the initial release. The controls are rebindable, 5-button mice supported, no critical bugs have been encountered (some minor issues with building placement). The accessibility options allow to auto-pass the mini-games and stop the time at the camp when the MC is on a Crusade. The graphics and visual style are lovely and expressive, the sound design is not annoying. --- Finished The Outer Worlds and the Peril on Gorgon DLC. While the main game is quite touching and enjoyable, the Peril on Gorgon made the issues more noticeable - there was too much random loot (which, fortunately, was still possible to sort and dispose of easily after obtaining it), and the main NPCs were I think, the game would have benefited from a more thoughtful approach to the enemy and item placement. Still, I am looking forward to Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2.

  21. Unironically, being able to jump and to skip the monologues from the corpses-to-become. Granted, the final boss monologued anyway, but significantly less than usual. And the "inspirational" speech could be skipped by attacking that Flaming Fist. Discovered it only on the last playthrough, but it was satisfying, nonetheless. I would add that the social systems were either partially implemented or broken, e.g. when a Harper guard tries to arrest you for stealing from the Moonrise Towers or a 1XP citizen attempts to prevent you from looting a freshly-killed Steel Watcher. I don't think that the non-combat spells could be used for anything except making the skill checks slightly easier (e.g. Guidance or Friends). Though, I once got a unique dialogue after casting the Ray of Frost cantrip on a companion. Edit to avoid double-posting. Not exactly specific to the game, but I find the auto-upload feature to be rather intrusive and undesirable. Then again, I do not have an Xbox. https://www.pcgamer.com/larian-and-microsoft-working-to-address-annoying-and-uncool-xbox-account-bans-caused-by-the-unfortunate-combination-of-baldurs-gate-3s-notorious-horniness-and-automatic-gameplay-uploads/

  23. When are (large expansive area) games going to give us bionic leg attachments as the excuse, so we can simply "run" faster. I don't care about flying per se - not that it's not cool and all - I just want ground running to feel faster than a crippled snail. The run pace is the first thing I mod if it's at all possible. Sci-fi games especially -bionic leg attachments you can craft - Is that so much to ask for?

  27. Very true. That's why for me it doesn't matter whether the awards are being made by biased insiders with their personal agendas or the masses who are generally know-nothing asses. Either way the results usually don't reflect quality or merit. And sadly nowadays, this has become true even with the Nobel prizes.

  28. Mid winter blahs and we're both pretty much I am tempted to turn the living room - that we hardly use - into nothing but a giant mattress with a 75" TV on the ceiling. Hubby could watch movies while lying flat that way, too. Giant circular heart bed? It's a thought. Edit: actually what we need is a tv thingie that acts like an auto-garage door, sliding it up to ceiling angle but then you could put it back down to wall angle. And then super powered electric adjustable bed/s. Yup, I'll get right on that.

  29. Potentially modals can provide one inspiration per proc and the powder burns proc on each target on the AoE! maybe, with AoE weapons, other modals can also give a lot of inspirations, bur imbued spells by themself doesnt really work well for Least Unstable Coil, it is really depending of AoE / multihit ranged weapons (even if only one target per bounce ill trigger the spell). nice find however!

  32. At what point in history has any country or part of a country which has been conquered and colonised by Britain had 30% British population before they engaged in mass murder and ethnic cleansing of the indigenous population? It's a pretty short list of Euro countries that hasn't done that at some point. I used the example of New Zealand which has ended up with 85% non Maori population. You can dislike the people responsible for those policies as much as you like but they're all dead. Blaming people who weren't even alive at the time is asinine and breeds pointless division and its only positive is making people feel superior to others based on the one thing they have literally no control over- their genetics. One of the reasons I hate ethnicity as a concept. But in summary: Break up Spain because of the oppression of the Catalans, Basque --> Russian plot, everyone actually loves Spain! Break up Russia because some infographic suggests more people from poor areas join the army --> Yes please!

  33. To be brutally blunt, we in the West - or at least our politicians - would not have to fear our elections either if our elected officials were not as incompetent, corrupt and contemptible as the very same autocrats they love to criticise. Recently, our chancellor was filmed stating that he is sick of people complaining about rising food prices and not being able to afford a decent hot meal for their children when a burger with fries at McDonald's is 3.5€. Instead of apologizing and doing something about the (still) overpriced food in Austria, he doubled down. There was an investigation if there's been illegal price fixing between the large players of the grocery market, and it predictably found no evidence thereof. But what evidence would exist in this day and age? Price fixing no longer requires the active participation of employees of a company: they just set their price finding algorithms to the desired gross margins and to not undercut the competition, and if everyone does that, prices will rise in relative unison. In reality, grocery prices in Austria are 30% higher than in Germany, in spite of having similar labor costs, energy costs and, well, virtually the same product lineups. The actual difference between Austria and Germany is that in Germany, there are more than two companies (Rewe and Spar) competing in the regular grocery market and more than two companies (Hofer/Aldi and Lidl) competing in the discount market. What else is needed as evidence? It is painfully obvious that we have an oligopoly problem, and even steadfast believers in the virtues of the free market know that this leads to rising prices and a loss of quality through complacency. We do have a legal means of recourse for that. It would be entirely possible to forcibly break up the REWE group, or if that is deemed too radical, simply make them have to give up half their stores to competing chains. Instead, the companies involved explain the difference in pricing on the number of stores and the generally higher cost of transportation, and nobody questions that, there even have been interviews in the large newspapers with the CEOs of Spar and Rewe where they detailed that their net earnings did not go up in the past two years, while conveniently forgetting to add that their investments of said profit (they have begun building more energy efficient stores now that energy prices spiked) more than doubled in the same time. In the case of Spar that meant an increase in profit of almost 50%, in spite of higher energy, supply and labor costs. Claiming that their margins did not increase unduly is just ludicrous, and a competent journalist would have questioned that immediately. You can guess once if they did. Spoiler: no, they did not. Of course not. Newspapers earn a pretty penny from including grocery ads, and they do not bite the hand that feeds them. When politiicans of the opposing parties suggested that the government create a price comparison and statistics portal so consumers would at least realize how much they are being gouged, they replied that it would be too difficult to implement. Yes, so difficult to implement that the first price scraping website made by one person went up a week later, detailing the price differences and just how much prices rise in unison between "competitors" in Austria. Now people can look at the price gouging and realize that the government is not doing its job, which in this case would be to simply apply existing antitrust legislation. Instead, we are staring at a possible Freedom Party lead government, headed by Herbert Kickl, someone who publically calls himself the upcoming Volkskanzler, which is what the national socialists of yore called the Führer. Great. Just... great. While I have never been an optimist, it does not look like the future is going to be better tomorrow.

  34. I've written about this extensively before, I'm not going to do it again. I could link you to my previous posts but I'm lazy so the onus is on you if you want to read that. I will leave you with this: At this point we're up to a handful of states, and counting, that have removed every candidate except Joe Biden for the democratic primary, despite the fact that there are other candidates (namely Marianne Williamson). What they are telling us is "you can vote for anyone you want, so long as that 'anyone' is Joe Biden." Maybe that sounds like a democratic process to you, it sure doesn't to me. In fact, it sounds an awful lot like the "free and democratic" "elections" some obviously autocratic nations hold. Granted, it's just a handful of states out of fifty and just the primary that Biden would still win regardless (which brings up the question, why even do this?), but it's a worrying trend, at least to me it is.
