  1. Those tend to be love or hate games for me. Mostly hate, if Gris/Inside/Limbo are any indication. If your gameplay is going to be totally brainless, you better hit on just about everything else. VtMB: I've now made it to Downtown, and I now know who Nines is. I'm currently helping a cannibal vampire lady eat a very obnoxious reporter. There weren't many opportunities to meaningfully lose Humanity in the first hub of the game (indeed, I had left Santa Monica literally maxed out on Humanity), but I see we're starting out strong here.

  2. Look, I get that Malkavians are insane, but what the hell? Go be insane in some other style, please. Ventrues definitely got the best options, both male and female IMO.

  3. Nozzie playthrough was fantastic. All reactions from everyone and sarcastic responses to them were priceless, Andrei the Tzimisce and food critic in particular, oh and also Fat Larry. Kinda weak combat-wise though, but then I always cheat in that final boring combat strech, so eh, whatevz.

  4. Planet of Lana: a beautiful hand painted platformer. There are no combats and you solve most puzzles with the help of a cat-monkey creature. Saw a "full walkthrough" video on YouTube that was a little over 3 hours long. So it's probably a really short game. I have played just a little, but I'm enjoying it so far.

  7. Mind you, I don't think any man can pull off the male Malkavian outfits either.

  8. From "Light Clothing"... ...to "Heavy Clothing"... Oh, of course, because I didn't already look like a streetwalker in the cheerleader outfit, now I'm straight up tasteless too! I'm gonna ice that Fat Larry (note: that is his actual name) bastard that sold me this garbage. And I just checked, the next armor upgrade somehow manages to look even worse...I knew I should've been a Ventrue: all her clothing options are dope (especially the "Light Leather" armor), while it looks like I'm going to have to stick with this skimpy cheerleader outfit the entire stinking game. Why did being insane have to mean not being able to wear any decent clothing - maybe she has sensory issues and can't handle it...or maybe she just straight up doesn't care what she wears or even mind being scammed? Well, I do, so I guess I wasn't cut out to be a Malkavian after all. Bah humbug!

  9. The puzzles are quite easy. Maybe some will require some time to understand what can be done in this game particularly, but don't expect much. The story is pretty simple too, shouldn't have the "Story Rich" label imo. But the game is beautiful and I don't regret buying it.

  10. It is supposed to skip reloading for a certain duration. But it does nothing. I guess since the normal reloading cycle has a minimum animation time (you cannot shorten the reloading time more than down to a certain floor value) the reload time cannot be reduced to zero in a conventional way by just setting it to 0.0 secs or something like that. I suspect the devs just went "ok, let's set reloading time to 0.0 secs for the base duration of x secs" but eventually forgot that even with 0.0 "official" reloading time the reload still takes that minimum amount of animation time. Instead I would look at how the Red Hand achieves its two shots with not reload in between and copy that behavior but give it that 10% chance and do like 3 or 4 shots without reload or whatever seems balanced - and scrap the "for x seconds". Just allow x shots with no reload in a row, no duration involved. But of course getting "x shots without reloading" isn't the same as getting "shoot with a reloading time of 0 for x secs". Because you won't be able to influence the first one with INT and so on I guess. And naturally players would salivate over the possibility to extend that buff with Wall of Draining and so on. Not possible with a fixed amount of no-reload shots. So maybe the red hand method would be ven cleaner and more cheese-avoiding.

  11. Yeah, I downloaded it and it wait to be fired up. From what I understand it is Limbo/Inside kinda of a game - more about tight experience than gameplay.

  12. Altered Carbon. Went in blind and liked quite a lot. Good solid cyberpunk science fiction, even if it borrows quite a bit from Blade Runner and sometimes from Fifth Element, but those aren't bad places to borrow from. It appears I'm so used to stupid asspulls in TV that when things that happen actually make sense within setting's rules and story's framework it feels so unexpectedly good. First season: bad guys are exceptionally easy to loathe with a burning passion, protag's of my favorite flavour - an irreverent, sarcastic ass who doesn't take things too seriously, poignant stuff (mostly) doesn't sink into cheesy sentimentality, and one episode's culmination even had me loudly cheering. Second season...eh, story still tight and engaging if predictable but shows importance of the cast. New actors, protagonist's in particular were just...not very interesting to watch. Netflix apparently canceled it but it's a good thing, because its series inevitably decline with each season, and I bought the books anyway.

  13. Konstanten's class choices being skald, skald/barbarian, and barbarian, means he was intended as a melee character, though his meh perception is not great for getting phrases back. You could definitely run him as a ranged howler. Won't be the best chanter since he can't get phrases back ranged but he isn't going to crit a ton anyway. Sure-handed ila + frenzy and he'll attack pretty fast. Barbaric Blow should apply ranged but there isn't as much benefit so I probably wouldn't take it. Give him a high dps bow and have him summon instruments of death now and then. Fassina works well as a pure wizard. Just cast caedabald's blackbow and essential phantom and she'll wreck things. Would probably be fine as a loremaster, but loremaster is redundant if you're taking konstanten as a howler. Also it doesn't pair that well with conjurer since she can only summon one thing at a time, meaning she can't use both wizard and chanter summons. Could do wizard summons and use chanter side for buffs and CC invocations, would probably work all right. Sorcerer does have some interesting synergy like combusting wounds + infestation of maggots... I think any of her class choices are fine, just depending what your party needs.

  14. I didn't! The whole idea did not really appeal to or strike me at all, which is why I didn't mention it in my post when I talked about this film a couple of years ago. Perhaps because I've been related several near-death and out-of-body experiences - including one from somebody younger who did 'die' but was successfully resuscitated - and have long accepted that the sputtering gasps of a chemically unbalanced and/or dying brain are simply not a reliable source for being able to tell what lies beyond. So for Martyrs, that really just left the murder, mental illness, and torture as a way of appealing to me, and I have to say, I was not really the biggest fan, . I also did not read what the creator of the film thought it was about, .

  15. The moment a manager/boss pulls something like that, is the moment I'm heading for the door. No kidding, I've left well paid jobs before, because I didn't like the management style and for that reason only. Having your mutually agreed upon bonus snatched away with no warning would be a 5 minute trigger for me (the 5 minutes it takes to clear my desk and return the door key/swipe card to the company)

  17. My Fassina build. I dont know if it works in POTD. I also like her as a sorcerer, the druid DOT spells offset the missing evocation spells, just give her The Spine of thicket Green. Never used Konstanten as ranged damage dealer tough.

  18. First, thanks for the responses and suggestions. I usually always play on maximum difficulty (PotD upscaling). I'm planning this build for a Solo Run with some margan challenges turned on. I've never played a Solo run before, so I'm pretty excited. The idea behind these weapons was more because of the mega-boss and some other standard bosses, so I wouldn't worry too much about penetration. And I like them a lot thematically and visually, especially Animancer's Blade. I was thinking of playing as Kind Wayfaerer + Helwalker monk. The Kindwayfaerer Paladin because of all his healing, armor and some damage bonuses, and resource refunds, he would be my most defensive part. The monk because of his infinite wounds and his incredible abilities. +10 str and Lightning Strikes would slightly increase the low natural damage of weapons. The idea would be this: Dichotomous souls + the pain persist and enduring dance. I would be dealing damage from afar, but depending on the occasion I would go in the front line with the dichotomous souls flanking the enemy. Using Shroud of the Phantasm to hopefully proc the Brilliant buff and recover resources. On very difficult occasions I would use a tower shield with the animancer's blade and play more defensively waiting for Brilliant proc, killing priority targets from a distance with the monk's pain persist. What do you guys think?

  19. So I installed a new birdhouse in one of the backyard trees. Its made of cedar so it should resist rot and it has three separate rooms to accommodate up to three separate nests. Now I wait.

  23. Watched the D&D movie, which I liked more than I expected to. Fun adventure film with lots of heart. More similar to something like Princess Bride or Stardust than Lord of the Rings.

  25. I think Energy Blade should have a PEN values that only applies to non rash lash attached to the attack (such as Mon Shock lash) . @Boeroer, could you elaboratem a bit about billet time not working? I'll try to fix it with BPM.

  26. Martyrs (2008). A wholesome movie for the entire family. Highly recommended. Gather your loved ones and have fun. It is a film about two girls, Anna and Lucie, visiting a happy family and spending some time together. So, one might ask, what was the point of the film? Well, as the above wall of text suggests there's a lot to think about. Curiously enough, the film seems to have the potential to be a transcendent experience if thought about it, as the audiences journey with the film mirrors that of Anna, and it does give rise to the answer whether or not the content of the film is justified. It certainly is. If nothing else, it is thought-provoking, and how often can we say that about a film?
