  1. At the end of DS9 O'Brien returns to Earth to teach at Starfleet Academy. In nuTrek he probably died in a school shooting or drank himself to death because he couldn't get over getting Bilby killed or something tragic and obscure.

  2. Im 8 hours into Kingdom Come: Deliverance and so far Im loving the overall Medieval experience the game provides, some highlights its a beautiful game. I am running it on maximum graphic settings I know nothing about this historical time period so I am enjoying the lore around Bohemia I like the different survival mechanics like nourishment and rest. Its realistic I haven't really touched on serious combat but I finally worked out how lockpicking works which was very rewarding when I got the ring the miller asked for from the executioner I like the open world design, I enjoy exploring and interacting with people I installed some good mods and everything I was advised to use, like save anywhere , seems relevant and appropriate for the game. I will do another update once I am further in the game but Im very impressed

  3. Then I don't know man, maybe they changed it after people kept complaining you couldn't keep being Lawful Good unless you periodically picked the "[Lawful] You broke the law. Die!" dialogue choices.

  5. There's a handful of combos where the capstone is worth it, such as the (mod fixed) Arcane bloodline that let's you use metamagic without increasing the casting time but in general.....a lot of that stuff isn't as good as the Loremaster's ability to expand your spellbook. Probably the best prc for a pure caster that doesn't sacrifice caster level. Unless you're looking to roleplay a fascist wizard, the Signifier isn't a very good choice. I guess that's a reason, someone has to play as an Aeon > Devil. Slow is good with a caster heavy party.

  6. Loremaster is making a really strong case. The extra feats and access to other classes' spellbooks pretty much outweigh not having access to capstone blood line abilities. Nothing else really qualifies either, I mean you could take Hellknight Signifier levels, but why would anyone do that?

  7. is at least a couple ways to speed up tb. is a slider for increasing animation speed. also, if you hit space while non party combatants is engaged in their action, they move at a yakety sax pace. btw, this encounter is best done as early as possible in act v 'cause assuming you did a dialogue correct in act i and you complete the act v encounter "right," it provides a crusade decree capable o' adding an additional master of maneuver level to all your generals. HA! Good Fun!

  8. those ain't tragic enough? well, we can take a shot. molly, after joining starfleet, eventual quits the federation and becomes involved with a group o' cardassian refugee/freedom fighters unironic modeled on the maquis. molly is pregnant with her cardassian lover's child when the federation ship kirayoshi is now serving 'pon encounters a food transport vessel molly's group has hijacked and 'course something goes horrible wrong. kirayoshi fails to successful transport molly off the freighter which blows up killing molly and her unborn child in the process. unfortunately, molly's lover, who had been rescued moments before the supply ship went nuclear, manages to disarm the incompetent starfleet security in the transporter room o' kirayoshi's ship and then goes on a rampage killing numerous starfleet personnel before turning the stolen phaser on herself. kirayoshi o'brien is one o' the victims. end of act 1. act 2 and 3 is even worse. (late edit: am thinking is no way molly's lover could die so ez. since is trek we need drag out ahab's metaphorical corpse once again and have miles hunt molly's lover 'cross the known and unknown galaxy, destroying himself and everybody around him in the process.) HA! Good Fun!

  9. @Mamoulian War I liked Tales of Arise a lot, altho I did grow a little impatient with some stuff in the back 1/4 or 1/5 or so. But I had great fun tinkering around and plenty of my typical goofy hijinks. Glad you're enjoying it. Also, Hootle best owl.

  10. If you're doing merged spellbooks with a Sorcerer chances are the unique Lich spells will be close to best in slot anyways, so the slower learning isn't as bad as it may seem. Of course I use a mod that bypasses that, because spontaneous casters are already a level behind for spells so Owlcat's fix seemed unnecessary. It's not like a merged caster won't melt half the game anyways. Off hand I'd say that you want to maximize caster level to get 10th level spells, so if you want to go outside Sorcerer a prc that gives caster level would be best. I think there is an argument for Loremaster, but just play around and see what works.

  11. I have arrived in Tales of Arise into Niez - capital of Wind region. And the game gave me another unexpected surprise. I hesitate to write here a little bit more about it, so I would not spoil it for the few people, who are still interested in playing this game, and are avoiding spoilers at all costs, but I am enjoying the game more the more I play it. Also, I have found first Artifact in the game, and Kisara gave me first fishing rod, so I have played little bit with it as well The Hunts for Gigant Zeugles are pretty merciless, and I have burned through most of my consumables, so now, I am trying to save little bit, and avoid them for now. The price of gels in this game is crazy, compared to previous titles, and the money is as hard to earn as in previous Tales of ... games. And I think it was to force some people to buy money DLCs This is my only negative experience with the game. Although, if I would not go against these Hunts, I would not need any extra money for consumables at all, and would be able to sell some of them to earn some extra cash. The sale price of gels is very high as well.

  13. can't help but recall a line from the tv show wonderfalls. wound up penguin is the episode title. priest: i don't know what you're after here, but i don't do exorcisms. they're violent and dangerous and... stupid. ... almost twenty years since it aired? sheesh. am pretty sure we memorized the line correct, but it has been almost two decades and our elephantine memory is limited to visual as 'posed to auditory. HA! Good Fun!

  14. Good point. I might go with a hard Interrupt on Crit + Tenacious to keep the thematic. It would also be slightly better in case of Might affliction. Heal Companion is going to be buffed (12s, with 12s of Hardy + 25% flat damage reduction for Hardy Companion). Play Dead is a full heal and Deadly Surprise applies a debuff. Revive is a rez. So I think the 4 are fine. Shadowed Hunters is powerful but very slow though. And has been the only Ranger self heal. I don't want to remove this option. I think I'm going to go with +50% attack speed with Vengeful Grief. As pointed recently, loosing the pet is really hurting the ranger. The goal is not to make dead pet builds viable, but to make Dead Pet strategy sometimes interesting, such as when keeping it alive is too tedious, when its claws can't penetrate or when hit and run is preferable. Having the ranger penetrating and running better while having their own DPS greatly improved does help this goal. Final note is that pet damages aren't that bad when thinking about it twice. When the +2PEN talent and +15% are picked they basically deal scaling stilettos damages (-1 Pen but dual Type). They have lots of +% damages talent too, so ultimately their damages is close to an endgame rogue with dual generic legendary stilettos. I start to suspect their bad reputation comes partly from their low damage per hit, but they have fast weapons and high PEN type (lowish damages but reliable). Granted they won't hit as hard as a party member with full custom weapons and better stats/build combination.

  15. There was no innuendo. The US government really does have a terrible track record when it comes to lying to its citizens. It also has a terrible track record when it comes to horrendous illegal practices involving its citizens. I'm sure you know MK-Ultra, for example.

  16. Dead Space 2 is done. I did not like it. I see why I never had the itch to replay it now. Dead Space 3 gets off a real bad foot by throwing Necromoprhs that are just zombies with pickaxes. They're hard to dismember with their arms at their side, so you just shoot them normal. And it follows this up with... normal guys shooting at you. Bad foot after bad foot. I've actually got far enough to get into the meat of the game. I love getting to explore a pseudo-open world starship graveyard, at least on paper. But it's all for the purpose of supporting their resource system. That's all you can find, not even new story beats or cool environmental bits. I can carry two guns. I don't need a gazillion gun combinations or the resources to build a gazillion guns. Mechanically it becomes a slog. The new line rifle looks cool, but the areas are so small, and all the enemies are so fast you can't use it. Once enemies are on top of you, it can't hit them. By contrast the plasma cutter, which makes boring "pop" noises when fired, is all around useful. And with the Planet Cracker head seems to do more damage than the line rifle anyway...

  17. a considerable amount o' game hours elapsed before it occurred to us that the bane of spirit ring might be an effective counter to swarms. we had used the ring almost exclusive when dealing with incorporeal foes and didn't even consider the ring's impact on swarms. is possible you never used the staff in question as a melee weapon, so am understanding how is possible to overlook. kinda. ... am admitted still baffled by how multiple obsidian posters mentioned they were unaware o' aivu spell casting. as a spontaneous caster, her spells is memorized automatic and as such they tend to fill up her action bar. so... *shrug* depending on how you play wotr, given all the options, am s'posing overlooking something seeming obvious is the norm as 'posed to the exception. HA! Good Fun!

  19. That was the first one I fought (of the ancient ones) and the one that got down to -150hp when I realized I did not have a single alchemist fire bottle in any inventory (that I could access) Its magical resistance is still in full effect when down and regenerating, hence why none of the "secondary" casters could harm it with their paltry fire based spells. Ember most likely could have hurt it, but she was one of the first to go down (I underestimated the reach of that tree when when it decides to hit my back line with its abilities). But as mentioned, after 14 failed coup de graces, the 15th did the trick

  20. I learned my first unforgivable curse in Hogwarts. I've also specced my talents and gear to liberally apply curses to anyone and everyone I'm fighting and also to deal extra damage to cursed characters. I can't wait to get Avada Kedavra. I'm holding on to a talent point to get the talent that insta-kills all cursed enemies with Avada Kedavra.

  21. 8-Bit Adventures 2: Huh, why u no embed? Embed u giev!1! - ah, worked now... Anyone else probably won't need 40 hours to finish the game, I just grinded a whole lot more than necessary, and spent a whole lot of time backtracking and trying to do quests that were clearly there to do, but simply not accessible yet. It also has some pacing issues here and there but was otherwise a pretty nice game riding on old JRPG nostalgia. As such, it does what is required of a JRGP. It has an airship (alas, no flying fortress) to explore the world with, and a story that becomes increasingly unhinged every step of the way before going completely off the rails. Much like its predecessor it's story is built upon toying with the fourth wall. It does a good job of capturing the old-school JRPG feel without recreating the more annoying parts. There are no random encounters, for instance, and enemies do not respawn as long as you stay within a dungeon, unless you exit of tell the save point to revive them. Also, the, uhm, save points in the game are not necessary. You can save whenever you feel like it. They're still there, for nostalgia's sake, and to provide boss clues and some friendly banter. Can certainly spend one's money on worse stuff.

  22. Hey Boeroer we meet again Thanks for the reply. I think thematically I like a weapon master kind of guy better than shouts. In poe1 the final barbarian shout didn't seem that impactful. I think because it rolls against fortitude. But poe1 isn't 2 and I take your word for it the shouts are great. Still having looked over it a bit a greatsword devoted/barbarian seems interesting. Only downside I'm seeing at first glance is Blood Thirst will come very late. So I'm wondering if you can get somewhat decent recovery times with it during the majority of the game? I'm basically trying to recreate the feel of the Blood Thirst poe1 build which may not be the right mindset ofc. In poe1 I went with 16 int, per, str, rest 10. Will a similar spread be good for a brute in poe2? Would you still recommend the Furyshaper as well for that multiclass?

  23. Did some more goofing around with a Skald - and man: with Wahai Poraga it's even cool to go SC Skald. With a fast setup (high DEX, low armor penatly etc.) I can generate phrases from skeletons so quickly that I can basically spam Eld Nary's Curse. Sometimes I can cast a second one before the first runs out, hehe. Also a CC-focused build with almost any second class is very nice. I can stunlock or paralyze-lock all sorts of enemies because those invocations are so cheap while the phrases keep flying in.

  24. alright i think you've convinced me on energized v swift. it also means you have a little bit more work to benefit from the interrupts (even if it's just marked prey and stalker's link) whereas swift would have been an easy pickup for anyone.

  26. 'I think I'll move to the next main quest..." "Oh wait, 18 side quests = reward, must get that" "I think I'm ready to move to main ..." "Oh wait, I should just get the next tier of Ancient Magic challenges I just need a few more." "I think I'm ready to move to..." "Oh wait, I've missed a lot of (room of requirement) Collectable chests in those areas, gotta get those" (you can see that info when you hover over some map icons) "I think I'm..." "Oh, this many combat feats gets me this, must run endlessly around triggering combats so I can do that" ...yeah, for me, one of those games.

  28. Sounds familiar, though I preferred those over the hundreds of times someone must've called me 'Ngati's chosen', both in-conversation and in passing. After some time you actually start sympathizing with Pallegina's attitude towards being godlike. My favorite bit of reactivity has to be the Chanter option with the mute Huana woman, which I think was on Tikawara: She's next a large drum used to send hunting/warning signals and help her communicate, which gives you an option to drum back in response; gradually leading into playing the drum together for a while after getting into a rhythm. It was quite heart-warming reading how the other villagers eventually join in on the music as well, especially considering the bleak state you find the village in.

  29. Favorite is always and forever - White that Wends. But the checks are boring. There should be some mystery or some fascination associated with Pale elves, but there is nothing more than "your blizzards are worse than our storms" and "hardy land hardy people" :/

  36. When it comes to treaties and such and the US, the situation is indeed complex and less than flattering. We have, for instance, things like the ICC in place -- but the US does not recognize them. Another less than flattering thing about the US is that while conspiracy theorists tend to be, shall we say, less than stable as people, the US government does have an awful record when it comes to lying to its citizens. When Thomas Pynchon started to describe a certain kind of paranoia as an important theme in American life, he was really onto something, as unpleasant as that is.
