About to put in my order to purchase a new car. My lease for my current car is up in November and I won't be expecting delivery of the new one until early next year so we'll be sharing my wife's car, which I absolutely hate. Going through some rental woes as well, tenants keep backing out at the last minute. We're already priced below market value because I'd feel gross trying to make a lot of money on people in this market because I'm about as bleeding heart as it gets without being completely self destructive. I lose money on it every year with maintenance and management included and my only goal is to try to get as close to breaking even as possible. Could turn a profit if I managed it myself but I don't have the time or inclination. It's most just a retirement plan, not that I'll probably live that long.4 points

Little bit of analysis of the few last days of the UA counteroffensive, which speaks about a lot of contrdictions presented by RU MoD, and the possible outcomes. Of course Nothing is 100% sure, until the UA cancels the blackout.3 points
-
Sure sure. It took 4 months to get Luhansk and 7 month to get Pisky, one of the suburbs of Donetsk City, but UA offensive is 100% and definitelly finished off 2 days after it began. Yeah yeah, seems like another wishful thinking and wet dreams for all the vatniks and generals to afraid to tell the truth to Volodya3 points

This build is in reality an "end-game party composition" because a priest is needed, and it is about not one, but two builds of hired SC Barbarians who behave as one entity. Most of time, it is easy to estimate the DPS, but in this case, I dont know how many strikes are done per second. Classes : 2* Barbarians (Berserkers, because of Tenacious) Races : Humans (+7acc, +15% damage) Stats : Might high Constitution very low Dexterity low Perception very high Intellect very high Resolve very low Needed abilities and passives : Carnage (default) Blooded Accurate Carnage Bloody Slaughter One Stands Alone Bloodlust Uncanny Luck Improved Critical Leap Brute Force Blood Thirst Spirit Tornado for one, Blood Storm for the other Barbaric Retaliation Prestige Equipment (for both of them with Import, otherwise the grey item as alternative) : Serpent's Crown - Heaven's Cacophony Torc of the Falcon's Eyes -Charm of Bones - Baubles of the Fin, Strand of Favor Violet Redemption - Cloak of the Theocrat Glove of the Dungeon Warden - Gauntlets of Accuracy (same effect) Harmonie (only for one) / Kuaru's Prize (for the other) - Ring of the Marksman - Ring of Overseeing Boots of the Stone - Sandals of the Waterlily Effigy's Husk with Eye of Blackstone , Aloth's Leather Armor (without Fire in the Hole) Food : Mari Crudia - Crusted Swordfish Pet (watcher) : Atlas/Harley (or Blinky / Nikky, see below) Weapons: The reached point with the equipment and weapon choice is to have +100 from deflection value in accuracy, to get 100% crit chance at melee (see below). Dual weapons, the melee crit part : Rannig's Wrath (Flanking and Redoublement): +20acc (modal), +5accurate, +4 Thrusting >>> +29acc The damages-to-enemies part : Fire in the Hole (the bounce, the modal AoE (with Perception immunity) or, optional, Keeper of the Flame (the fire AoE vs reflex, +4acc with Sweet aroma) >>> +33acc or Current's Rush or the Weyc Wand Also, nice alternatives with this build are Estocs, with a damaging effect to enemies limited to Carnage (excepted for Eager Blade). Estoc modal (-15 defl, +2pen) dont stack with frenzy, so -5 deflection, translated into +5acc) Eager Blade (Vehemence (+8acc) and Bounding Strike (pierce AoE vs reflex))>>> +13acc Blade of the Endless Path (Seeker's Prize (+10acc), Marking (-20 deflection)>>> +35acc Engoliero do Espirs (for Cruel Blade)>>> +5acc Concretely Barbaric Retaliation trigger a full-attack on crit that doesnt have neither action time neither animation. The retaliation can obviously also crit. With their stats and legendary upgrade for weapons, so considering a base acc of 105 and a base deflection of 67, these traits become in fight : 105 +7 (human spirit)+ 5 (Dire Blessing) +10 (Devotions of the Faithful)+10 (Serpent's Crown) +29 (for Rannig's Wrath, see above) +3 gloves : 169acc 67 -10 (frenzy) = 57 deflection That mean the couple of barbarians, when attacking each other at melee, have 100% chance to crit, triggering a cascade of full-attacks and carnage in ping-pong that cause vertical lignes of damage to close enemies. The bounce from Fire in the Hole (and his AoE from the modal) or the AoE from Keeper of the Flame proc each time, also carnage do. Without the Harmonie Ring, to immunity of intellect for both barbarians, the other party members can die immediately. And without immunity to perception (Effigy's Husk), barbarians loose 10acc (-5 Dire Blessing, -5 per), but that can be adusted by the Serpent's Crown (+10acc on crit). Because of Spirit Storm 's staggering effect on hit (downgraded to nothing with the Boots of Stone for barbarians), enemies will suffer to -10 fortitude, and Carnage and Fire in the Hole's bounce (vs deflection) can target the fortitude with Brute Force. Carnage is affected by PL, Accurate Carnage, Serpent's Crown, Perception, Dire Blessing, and Devotions for the Faithful. Without Priest and Barring Death Door, the barbarians are insta-killed. A brilliant priest can indefinitely prolong that, but for most of the fight, +20s from double cast of Salvation of Time is largely enought. Salvation of Time is mandatory because sometimes, the couple of barbarians have to go nearby other enemies (at carnage and bounce range) with Leap, so that require time. Without Dire Blessing and Devotion for the Faithful, Blinky or Nikky as watcher's pet allow to reach the difference of 100 between deflection and accuracy. (157acc) With BpM, carnage can crit, so can trigger Hemorraging from Effort, and Avenging Storm. I mention that because it is a double-chain, but the Rannig's Wrath / Fire in the Hole combination is already a big deal.2 points

Got an offer from my energy supplier that, quite frankly, was too good to refuse. Sign up for another year for half of the current market rates of all other suppliers, plus 130 days of free energy. Looking at the current price hikes, having a year of basically 'only' a 50% increase in energy prices, well, not going to say no to that. I'm guessing they're banking on the EU getting their sh*t together in the timeframe and being able to sell for more than market rates down the line. I'd call that a very optimistic bet. No thanks, give me the fixed energy prices for a year.2 points

Open front door, find plastic bag on steps, full of ... grapes. No note. I guess neighbor noticed us picking the few ones in our yard once, and when they took down the ones in their yard, decided we would like them? They're tiny grapes, and pic FoV makes it not as impressive, but it was large lot for someone who can't eat lots o' sugars. We did eat most of them over a few days tho. Tasty.2 points

I'm thinking of buying a garage and getting an EV, but A) I don't drive much and B) the charging support is very poor over here. But if I did I would probably go for the Kia or Hyundai, I do not think the Mach-E is available here.1 point

I'm the most boring driver in the world so probably not. My wife hates riding with me because I just cruise and chill and she's a reckless speed demon who complains if she's forced to drive within 10 miles of the speed limit. The Kia and Hyundai were on my list but I liked the look of the Ford more even though this model year's price hike really made the Ioniq more attractive. They were my second and third choices. I also liked the Lyriq but I didn't want to pay Cadillac prices.1 point

Vysokopillia in Norther Kherson Oblast has been liberated. Russian VDV troops which were stationed there did not get artillery support, which they requested for few hours, so they decided to retreat (from RU sources). It is rumoured, the artillery men were drunken, lol… EDIT: it has been officially confirmed by UA side as well. https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2022/09/4/7366056/1 point

I'm rewatching the original run of Twin Peaks from Mark Frost and delightful weirdo David Lynch. I haven't watched this since it initially ran on TV 3 decades ago. I'm happy to report that it 100% holds up to my memories. If anything, I actually undersold the show in my own mind, it's even better than I remember. It's like a baguette with brie cheese.1 point

You should like Psion/Troubadour. It's one of the most versatile combos, both classes have "automatic" resource regain (only time has to pass), it has healing, summons, mind control and CC and damage. Another plus for solo: It was one of the builds that completed the Ultimate Challenge - so you know it's 100% valid for solo runs. For me it also was one of the most enjoyable mluticlasses to play. Imo players almost always initially underestimate Psion because they think the focus generation is slow. It it not because it a) scales with Power Level and b) it always works, even while you cast, attack, recover or are even unable to act (like when withdrawn). The only thing that stops it is getting damaged - but with a combo such as Troubadour that's rel. easy to avoid because of all the summons and charm/dominate.1 point

While I am overall enjoying Soul Hackers 2 so far, I do have one big gripe. Loading screens. SO. MANY. LOADING. SCREENS. I feel like I'm playing a game from 15 years ago in that regard, it's been so long since I've seen a game with this many loading screens. It's not the end of the world since the xXxBOxXx has fairly quick load times, but I pity anyone playing this on a last gen console. I mean, I get it, it's not an open world game, they can't use streaming tech, there are going to be loading screens. Some of them could easily be eliminated, though. For example, when I want to heal up I go back to the safehouse and rest. Let's say I'm in a Soul Matrix dungeon and I want to heal up. Here's the process: 1) Go back to the entrance of the dungeon (there are fast travel waypoints that make this fairly quick) 2) Exit the dungeon to the main Soul Matrix hub *LOADING SCREEN* 3) Exit the hub to the main Axis screen *LOADING SCREEN* 4) Exit the Axis to the map 5) Go to the safehouse *LOADING SCREEN* 6) Rest Then you do the same process in reverse to get back to the dungeon, loading screens included. I wish Atlus just put an area at the entrance of every dungeon that allowed you to rest. Better yet, just let me rest at any fast travel waypoint. It would give me no tactical advantage but it would be a HUMONGOUS quality of life upgrade. Maybe there is an ability I get later on that lets me do that? Even if that's the case, that ability should be available right away.1 point

Russian equipment is proving to be pretty low tech and hasn't really improved much since the Soviet Era (Let's be honest here, USSR collapse was the worst thing that happened to them), but their 'Deep Operations' tactics are slowly but surely working. The question is how long can they keep it up? "Deep Operations" was developed in the pre-War USSR (Stalin purged the original architect but eventually allowed his generals to implement it with astonishing success against German Blitzkrieg) that calls for a wide front and using combined arms tactics with constant artillery fire all along the front in an effort to entice the enemy to attack and then "mop them up" with reserves when they inevitably take the bait and launch an offensive. The Ukrainians are making the same mistakes the Germans did near the end of WW2 and launching petty "counter offenses" as the Russian MoD explains here. Sure, this whole thing seems like an IRL scenario of Hearts of Iron and other WW2 larping on a small scale with both sides using outdated tactics but it looks the Russians will inevitably gain the upper hand here as they now have first hand experience against modern NATO equipment and implement countering these in their doctrine. China's MoD is also watching closely here. The West gains nothing because Russia is not doing or using anything new or innovative in their tactics to learn from.1 point

Hubby: "You have a new pet* hanging out by the family room door." Hubby: "You have a new pet hanging out in the pool." Was (probably unnecessarily) a teensy bit concerned maybe it found the lip of the pool a challenge to getting out again so I fished him out. An "alligator lizard." Its tail went all the way up the side and stuck out the top of the grill-holes of my blue tupperware sized critter container - it was missing one toe on one back foot and kept moving its head sorta side to side, sticking its tongue out at me like a snake. ====== * "Pet" is a hubby joke. He just knows I like looking at stuff. Sometimes I put them in my container for 30 minutes to observe. Then I put them back somewhere in the yard.1 point
-
I assume they changed it from the previous materials because it *forces* you to move all around the yard. You can't just find one spot to farm berry leather and one spot to farm quartzite and, instead, you have to spread out all over the yard. That's an argument against just rebalancing, I suppose. So I think, with that in mind, that I can understand why they didn't just rebalance. They wanted to push us into exploring more of the yard, so they incentivize us to do so. My hang up on the new system isn't the system, itself; it's the names. The names of the materials are what kill me. AND the fact that we can take a bunch of unrelated materials and apparently morph them into these new materials, magically. It's just so, so bad. (Although, I *could* get behind something like the glue station as an armor upgrade, mashing bug parts to make some type of paste or something. But turning a spider fang into a rock is just a bridge too far. It's asinine.)1 point

Yeah, I would like it to be consistent. But it's kinda confusing. Also I would like minimal effort In my current understanding there are only 3 pure elemental weapons: Draining Touch (in vanilla: ability doesn't have Acid kw; attack doesn't have Acid kw...) Kalakoth's Minor Blights (in vanilla: ability doesn't have Fire/Frost/Electricity/Acid kw, and neither Elements kw; attacks do have Fire/Frost/Electricity/Acid kw) Caedebald's Blackbow (in vanilla: ability doesn't have Acid kw; attack has Acid kw) Because they directly deal elemental damage, with no alternative damage type. Now there are semi-elemental weapons: Firebrand (fire/pierce) (in vanilla: ability has Fire kw; attack has Fire kw) Essence Interrupter (pierce/electricity) (in vanilla: attack has Electricity kw) Frostfall (crush/frost) (in vanilla: attack has Frost kw) Lord Darryn's Voulge (slash/electricity) (in vanilla: main attack has Electricity kw) The third category includes weapons with elemental procs and side-effects: e.g. Sun & Moon: first attack deals crush damage (and in vanilla: this attack has Fire kw) This attack triggers a 25% bonus fire damage proc (which in vanilla has no Fire kw...). And is followed up with a second crush damage attack (which in vanilla has Frost kw) And this second attack triggers a 25% bonus frost damage proc (which in vanilla has no Frost kw...). Funny right? And fourth category includes weapons with elemental lashes ========== ========== Personally I would expect: weapons from first category: attacks to benefit from elemental PEN talents, and from stuff like Ring of Focused Flame; and get their SummonWeapon ability duration increased from +PL bonuses weapons from second category: attacks to benefit from elemental PEN talents, and from stuff like Ring of Focused Flame; and get their SummonWeapon ability duration increased from +PL bonuses weapons from third category: have their elem procs benefit from elemental PEN talents, stuff like Ring of Focused Flame, and +PL bonuses weapons from fourth category: ideally have their lashes benefit from elemental PEN talents What do you think about such approach/direction? And also: would you like to have Firebrand's damage be changed from fire/pierce to just fire, or pierce/fire? what's your stance on SummonWeapon spells kw? (as you can see there is inconsistency there too)1 point
-
I didn't read all the posts leading up to this now, so forgive me if I say something that was already dismissed as not working or stupid. I like that you can play around with Firebrand - which isn't a superpowerful weapons to begin with (and you need to be a Druid who isn't the most awesome two-hander user) - and make it cool with an additional item. On the other side I don't like that certain attacks which don't do direct elemental damage get an elemental keyword and then work with Ring and Scion of Flame et al. And then also get those immunity issues despite not actually dealing the kind of damage the enemy is immune to. Example: Dragon's Dowry. It only deals pierce damage but has a burning lash and fire themed fluff and enchantments. Why do its attacks have to have the fire keyword though? I get it with weapons like Essence Interrupter, Draining Touch, Firebrand etc. because they deal elemental damage directly, not via lash only. I mean if I slap Mith Fyr or Turning Wheel on attacks they also don't become fire-keyworded attacks, so... just keep it consistent with the direct damage/lashes lending keywords. So I guess I'm in favor of 3: make Ring of Focused Flames work with attacks that deal direct fire damage (of course Firebrand... but also see Keeper of the Flame's AoE? St. Drogga's Skull's additional burn dmg which is not a lash? Is there another weapon attack that deals direct fire damage? For example Sungrazer's AoEs?) and remove fire keywords from attacks which don't do direct fire dmg. Don't know if that distiction between original attack and additional fire attack (see Keeper of the Flame etc.) is even possible though. Maybe that's too complicated (also see Magran's Favor which deals slash damage but has an enchantment that applies elemetal fire DoT: no keyword for the slash but keyword for the DoT? Possible? Reasonable? Don't know...). That would be consistent and systemic imo - also for enemies(!): attacks that deal direct fire damage get the keyword, others don't (lash is not enough). If that's too wild to implement then I'd go for 3 as suggested I believe. 2 would also be cool with me if the immunity issues can be avoided.1 point
