SpyxFamily, episodes 7-9 (Operation Apologize and the two Secret Service brother episodes). The brother character is too much and kind of stinks, but I think they helped strengthen Yor some as a character (who I have felt is the weakest of the three main characters), which was good. Three episodes left - if they plan on wrapping up the plot here, it's going to have to be at truly breakneck acceleration because so far the show hasn't seemed to be in any hurry to do so (which is not a bad thing), so I'm assuming that there is going to be a second season at least. The show sold itself to me mostly on the strength of the bizarre character writing/reactions/behavior. I mean, my "introduction" to the series was this ridiculous video: ...which, while obviously re-purposed footage from multiple episodes, it's like...this sort of stuff is still actually in the show even if not quite at this density, so it wasn't entirely unrepresentative, .2 points

I suspect that I didn't use enough yeast and my first attempt is low ABV. I don't have a hydrometer, nor any other tool to help test ABV, and I didn't drink enough to give an estimate off how buzzed I got, but it wouldn't surprise me if my mead is only 3% or 4%, given how sweet and easy to drink it was with hardly any time to mellow. I'll probably double the amount of yeast per volume on my next attempt as my target is around 10% ABV. I went back and forth on whether to use ale yeast or wine yeast and decided to go with ale. Technically, any yeast will get you fermentation and produce alcohol, even baker's yeast, but I figure either ale yeast or wine yeast will produce the best taste. In the future I may try to brew beer, but I started with mead because it's fairly straightforward; only 3 ingredients in its simplest form (water, honey, yeast).2 points

I feel like I only just got the game the other day, but the GOG launcher claims I've spent 50+ hours on the game already. That's scary Hopefully that number includes the hours I've left the game paused! Edit: Game being Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous2 points

I loaded up Conan Exiles with the new massive Sorcery update. A lot of people are worried about the Battle Pass system turning it into a microtransaction hell. I can't speak to how this will affect multiplayer folks, but as a single player, it doesn't seem to have much impact. There are a lot of positive changes coming with the update that don't cost any crom coins, and it looks like I have access to all of the DLC stuff I have purchased over the years. The two positive changes that stood out immediately to me: - The trait system is reworked. When you reach a certain level in an attribute, you get to choose from a list of perks. For example, when leveling up my expertise (harvesting attribute) I got to choose whether I want a boost to how much I get of a resource, or a better chance of a rare material. It adds some complexity to a stagnant system. - There are challenges to complete. These are separate from the storyline stuff. Some are exploratory (go pray at a certain altar), some are combat related, and some are harvesting related (harvest 10 iron sources.) It seems pretty simple, but it's another way to stay engaged. I didn't play long enough to get into the rewards. Anyways, I haven't even gotten into sorcery aspect, so I'm looking forward to that. But I was happy to see all of my DLC was still active and the single player game has only really been enhanced at this point.2 points

Rings of Boredom: Going through the motions I expected to hate this, based on the critique linked earlier, but it is arguably worse. It is boring. Pretty, sort of, but boring. Plus, it looks much closer to The Hobbit in style (particularily the characters) than Lord of the Rings, which is a pretty negative in my book. The dwarves look comical, the elves aren't at all glorious, aloof or any of the other things they're supposed to be (even Liv Tyler was a better elf than the cast of elves here), the humans are just simply there and the Hobbits... why are there even Hobbits in this, other than BECAUSE IT IS A LORD OF THE RINGS SHOW. So far this is what this show is, it is showing us quite clearly, and quite loudly and very often(ly ), that is it has something to do with Lord of the Rings. Galadriel: Ninjas Die Twice Well, that one made me facepalm, but it then quickly gave way to the ennui that accompanied the rest of the two episodes. Galadriel is a ninja elf capable of singlehandedly killing a troll where her entire troupe of warriors - presumably at least semi-competent - fail. Following the fight, she faces desertion of a sort. None of them want to keep following her. She's also capable of swimming across half an ocean. Or almost. Certainly is preciously little reason and reasoning in jumping off a ship in the middle of the sea, but this Galadriel is more brawn than brains anyway. The Dwarves: A tradition So, well, with Gimli being a mostly comic relief for Lord of the Rings, there's preciously little option than to make them comic relief here too. For a noble dwarv, Durin sure has no table manners and lacks any diplomatic tact, but at least he's a jolly good fellow, which nobody can... I mean, which the series somehow needed. Still, eh, there's only so much of Durin and Elrond doing a stone breaking contest over a perceived slight I can take. Motions So, eh, yeah. This tries really hard to check off all the boxes. There's a troll, dwarves are loud and silly and have beards (or not), men are racist against elves, elves are racist against men, there's a romance, it's all... very, very Lord of the Rings, with a touch of The Hobbit insofar as that the characters look like they're straight out of The Hobbit, rather than Lord of the Rings. Which is a detriment, I would say. To think that I once complained that Liv Tyler isn't very elven. In closing Well, I'm not going to talk about the casting choices when it comes to casting minorities. There's a black elf, a black dwarf and a black hobbit so far. The characters at least don't feel entirely like token minorities (unlike Gay and Gay Too, the gay couple from Discovery, whose only defining trait is being a gay couple). We could debate about how there are no black elves in Lord of the Rings, because Tolkien's mythology has a light vs. dark / good vs. evil theme that very literally expresses itself in looks, and that a black elf would quite frankly be spoiled by evil, but that's been co-opted by weirdo white supremacists and whatnot, so nope, not interested. Other than that, it's fairly meh. Nothing much of interest happens, except something falling from the sky, in a rather literal manner. Oh, and yes, the first two episodes are full of Star Trek: Picard season 2 flowery talk, except it is much more fitting for elves to speak that way than for Q and Picard. Could have been worse, I guess. Still, not sure why this is a thing, other than Jeff Bezos wanting his own Game of Thrones. Turn it on if you feel like watching two hours of mostly nothing set in Middle Earth. It'll be 50 hours at some point anyway.1 point

if you had some kind of "vision" that would be pretty useful in guiding the choices here, or at least knowing what your other party members are because xoti as a monk (or any monk) is b e a s t m o d e, essentially. if all you want to do is max out damage, then you should easily make xoti an SC monk, without question. but xoti does indeed function as a decent priest, and a decent monk-priest. it depends on what you need in your party. if you need more support, then priest. if you need a flex character, then contemplative. there's not exactly a "wrong" decision here. that being said, i don't see taking tekehu along as a conflict. druids (tekehu in particular) are good at healing and elemental damage, whereas xoti's priest subclass is good at buffing/debuffing and blessed harvest. they don't really overlap, even if xoti borrows a few spells from druid's spell list (you probably wouldn't bother with taking some of them as tekehu, and it's not bad to double-up on castings of, say, wicked briars).1 point

Dazzling Display is a prerequisite of Shatter Defenses. As long as you take that, it'll not be a wasted feat even in the light of Frightful Aspect. edit: @InsaneCommander if you give Ember the Red Salamander ring, she will have two different spell levels of Hellfire Ray, which you can separately bolster. If you do that and then later pick Favorite Metamagic: Bolster, you can add some more of them to her spell levels. Because even if all newly created Bolstered spells are now one level lower than before, the old ones stay in the book. She can cast LOTS of these things. At insane damage.1 point

the obstacle you will run into for successful intimidation checks is the same hurdle most any individual character or party build must face: bloat. owlcat balancing is near non-existent, so the method they utilized to keep the game challenging were to breakdown difficulty levels based on the predictably munchkiny nonsense possible with owlcat epic + pathfinder. for intimidation specific, is surprising few bosses immune to fear. intimidation also ignores sr. however, 'cause o' the endemic bloat, it takes a ridiculous investment to build a character capable o' being able to reliable intimidate bosses. https://pathfinderwrathoftherighteous.wiki.fextralife.com/Frightful+Aspect eventual you get frightful aspect. is like a permanent dazzling display aura and is even better than straight-up intimidation 'cause is no skill check or saving throw. foes in the aoe o' effect capable o' being shaken are shaken, period. so why would you devote effort to building a character who is able o' delivering shaken through dazzling display? most players would not make such an investment. however, am gonna suggest the answer is as simple as two words: vavakia vanguard. is only a couple o' 'em in the base game and they are tougher than most bosses. the most annoying aspect o' these foes is their fear aura which were delivered via intimidation as 'posed to will save and as such it were near impossible to resist the effect. a player character or a couple companions may achieve same results as the vavakia vanguard. take one level o' thug results in the player's intimidation checks being transformed from shaken to fear. thug fear is an amazingly powerful ability and is perpetual undervalued, but 'cause o' bloat o' bosses, you need indulge near every skill, strength and charisma boosting option available if you wanna be able to fear lock bosses. chances are dazzling display, as soon as you acquire frightful aspect (which is admitted late in the game) feels like wasted feats. however, give one level o' thug to sosiel and build him with single-minded dedication to boosting intimidation, and you will be able to reliable fear lock all but the couple fear immune bosses. ... alternatively, play trickster. HA! Good Fun!1 point

I wouldn't call Tekehu an OP AoE nuker until he reaches Avenging Storm and Great Maelstrom (preferably with Effort in his hands) - and that's not even exclusive to his subclass. But foe-only Chillfog (which is exclusive) is extremely convenient and has noticable impact on most fights. It's not about the damage alone but on the blinding (tier-3 affliction!) of all enemies around your party while your friends are completely unfazed.1 point

I did 5 different batches. It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot, and the beer was surprisingly better than what you typically find in stores. But it was also an expensive hobby and pretty time intensive. When I moved, my brewing buddy got all of the equipment we bought and he put it in storage, and so we haven't brewed in a few years. Top-notch ingredients seems to be the real key. Avoid the cheap ingredient kits. Fresh grains, fresh hops, and good yeast make a difference. We made 2 IPA's with Citra hops (one had been fermented with orange rinds), a Centennial and Chinook Pale Ale, a dark Weissenbock, and an amazing Vanilla Oatmeal Stout. The vanilla came from vanilla beans soaked in scotch, and it was by far my favorite beer we brewed.1 point

Game time is extremely relative thing. I routinely clock three digits of hours in RPGs and there's one in four even and it almost always is like "Why is it four in the morning when I just sat down with it a minute ago?!" versus, say, FEAR which dragged for me like forever and a year when I actually finished it in less than 10 hours.1 point

The amount of usable source material is so scant here that an awful lot has to be invented no matter what. It seems like it would be a lot easier to just create a world and write good stuff for that world instead of making up stuff for Tolkien's world. But of course there's that world "Tolkien" which spells, at the very least, interest, and, quite possibly, big bucks.1 point

Serbia and Russia have old ties, that has little or nothing to do with "Admiration". They are both ethnic Slavs (even if not the same "brand" of Slavs), same religion (Orthodox), lots of cultural similarities and when **** hit the fan in WWI, Russia was the first one standing up for Serbia against Germany and the Habsburg Empire. Sort of a big brother/little brother kind of relationship. If you feel kinship with someone, you ask less critical questions. Edit: Serbia and Russia special relationship has its own Wiki page, showing the shared history of the last few centuries (back to 1547) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russia–Serbia_relations#18th_century1 point

On this HoonDing is 100% correct, even unironically. Shannara was a clunky low budget (though high for the network) MTV/ SpikeTV show featuring people chosen for looks rather than talent, but it was absolutely fine considering that was always what it was going to be. Same, perhaps more surprisingly, for Sword of Truth- and that's one series where actively avoiding/ changing the source material was a good thing given the source material. Both shows were far more on the, hmm, 'Monkey' or 'Hercules' side of the serious drama scale than the Game of Thrones side too. A particularly bad experience can retroactively improve ratings for other shows. One might not like vanilla ice cream all that much for dessert but it's at least functional and achieves what it aimed for. Though Shannara and SoT were probably closer to a McDonalds Sundae... Something like WoT though? Durian, brussels sprout, anchovy and soy sauce sorbet with a carolina reaper jus and turnip garnish. Makes anything else more palateable just thinking about it, and the inexperienced chef pontificating about how awesome it is and how much he's improved on and updated the original is just the metaphorical icing on top.1 point

Yep, it most definitely can be that bad*. Though most of the reviews aren't as critical as that one there does seem to be a general theme that it's high on great visuals** but low on everything else. *think I've said it here before, but its production had an awful reputation here. You can usually find people willing to praise even 'bad' products that were made here- eg Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell- as being 'nice places to work' or 'trying hard' or whatever; but I don't think I've seen anything beyond the most basic 'gave people jobs' type 'praise' for RoP. All the rumours very much suggest that the showrunners thought they weren't just better than Peter Jackson, but better than Tolkien too. **though from the trailer it looks to me to suffer badly from 'Wheel of Time' syndrome; nice scenery, but everything looks like it's never been lived in. By the way, since you mentioned Ember and casting fire spells. If you give her one level of Cross-Blooded Sorcerer, that'll be an immense boost to her damage. Why? Looking at the Sorcerer and bloodline progressions, you might get the impression that only makes sense if you stay pure classed, or at least add levels in whatever prestige class that allows you to continue your bloodline, right? Well, no. Draconic bloodlines have a funny little aspect: They flat increase the damage per dice rolled of their associated element by 1, and it stacks. If you pick up the Gold, Brass and Red bloodlines from adding a level of Cross-Blooded Sorcerer and the mythic ability 'Second' Bloodline, you get +3 damage per dice rolled as long as it is fire damage. Make sure to give her a Skill Focus so you can pick Loremaster. It is fixed now and you can add spells from other classes, if you do that you can get Creeping Doom from the Druid book or Sirocco from the Wizard book. Selective Sirocco lets you plaster the entire screen with a damaging and crowd controlling firestorm and Creeping Doom summons a swarm of swarms to tank for you. Find swarms annoying? Yeah, enemies do that too. In fact, there are encounters that were designed to be ridiculously problematic, but a single cast of Creeping Doom auto-wins them.1 point

The lawful requirement is only annoying in the game because 'lawful' in WotR is basically roleplaying a rigid, fascist law and order guy, and you have to pick some of the lawful options to stay lawful. Now that I think about it, @BruceVC should love playing an Aeon.1 point

I see a park gazebo with a bright central light ... I think "already has half a perimeter wall built, and that light is useful." (You can place lots of dev-only lights/blocks/things in the world if you want, like neon signs, but I have no idea how, if even possible, to make them "active" vs. staying dark/inanimate) (edit- there's a few player-electric traps and lights these days but it's limited, too many steps and I don't bother with it most of the time) Five or so hours later ... could do more, but bored again and it's only a "side/storage base", time to move on. Also, as I wander, I have this need to clean up all litter in the game, whacking every piece of paper, trash bag, broken car, broken glass, over-turned chair, and rock/metal rubble away. Can't have a messy, garbage infested looking world! I guess it's akin to having to open every loot container even tho you know it's just going to be maybe the millionth iron pipe and feathers that you don't need...1 point

It's so hard to get a picture of a "base" in one shot, without mega-FoV distortion. It's also funny how I don't like "platformers" yet I will build ground bases where jumping all over the place is required. Go figure. This one is is me refurbishing a tiny 1-story guard house. The streetlight was already there, makes a good front area spotlight. I blocked around it so it wouldn't shine into the base itself cause that was annoying graphically. >.> And it makes a good "bridge". This shows "structure stability". Green is good, red is bad. Although you're always going to get reddish on blocks extending outwards and it doesn't mean it's always fragile in terms of walking on it. Stability just means how many blocks can you extend/add on without a collapse disaster for lack of support. Also shows that the pic above is just the topside. The main base stuff is underground in this one. ....where one goes to relax with a good book after a hard day of mining and looting. That's only one of the "bases" I've built on a single map. Yup, a great time waster indeed.1 point

Problem is, new GTA gameplay will just be the exact same thing we have seen for 20 years now. Hell even RDR2 has GTA-style mission flow .... So the only thing that a new GTA would have for it would be the bits of story. Rest is just going to be the same pew-pew missions as always.1 point

Fight mechanics of the Pillars franchise are objectively better than those of the infinity games. So I guess it's more a matter of personal preference than actual quality - which is cool with me. I also don't like certain things that are critically acclaimed or preferred by a majority. One has to applaud the OP for voicing their frustration in a decent manner.1 point
