  2. Apologies for the double quote (I am not good at this), but no, the progression is not logical. It is terrible, as far as logic goes. You are mixing up occurrences and the question of blame, whereas in fact they're in different "realms" altogether. Let's look at another example. Guy #1 runs his car into guy #2's car, triggering a cascade of events. -> Guy #2 getting up, walking to guy #1 and hitting him in the face is one of those events. -> The physical violence has been triggered by guy #1. -> Guy #2 is still to blame. Not for the crash, but for the violence. The same applies for the war, mutatis mutandis. I'm honestly quite surprised you even think I'd follow the progression in the way you describe. It is entirely logical up to the point where you start attributing blame, but then it goes completely off the rails. You asked why bring this up at all, if the point is not to lay all blame on Russia. This is a good question. The answer is that while bringing it up ought to be irrelevant, it is not. Even on this forum, there has been plenty of arguing along the lines that although something less than marvelous has possibly been happening somewhere in Ukraine, maybe, what we should really focus on is the pathological hatred people have for Russia, and also let us not forget how awful the collective West has been in its dealings throughout its history. So that's why it felt other than irrelevant to point out that which is, as you quite rightly say, obvious: the whole cascade of events has been triggered by Russia. Not by other evil powers wanting to put down poor Russia.

  3. Also, today emerged rumours, that one of the most prominent collaborators in South Ukraine, Oleh Shostakh, had a very explosive day today in Melitolpol. The guy is one of the main organizers of sham referenda in the South. Let’s eagerly await now for some indeoendent sources to confirm or deny the claim. https://edition.cnn.com/europe/live-news/russia-ukraine-war-news-08-12-22/h_570cc7f061c21c3e18909c1487b204e7

  5. I don't understand the "nugget" idea either. The leathers, plates, globs and jewels made sence for upgrading armor and weapons. It was a pain and a hard grind but it fit the story. Even using the candy and salt for weapon mods fit. Now there are these nuggets just laying around the yard. Or we can craft them with bug parts and sap? So are the nuggets just bugs that got trapped in a pool of sap and hardened? They could have used hundreds of items that are actually in the backyard as upgrades but they chose to makeup an item and call it nuggets. Cool nugget and fashion nugget what even is that?

  6. I've been playing Grounded since the first year of release. I've got about 217 hours of playtime logged on Steam. I've never posted an opinion or feedback on anything Grounded-related prior to this. But I'm just so incredibly turned off by the new "nugget" system that I felt compelled to post. Though the nugget system is certainly an upgrade from the quartzite grind of the past, I find it to be a completely immersion-breaking, non-sensical solution. What the hell is a "nugget?" How can this "nugget" be used to upgrade armor or a weapon? I just don't get it. Not at all. It seems to me that this is a solution that has been implemented for a valid problem that has been done without a greater vision for what the game is supposed to be or how it's supposed to play. Previous upgrade system is way too grindy and needs changing? Let's just makeup a mcguffin item to solve that problem. And let's give that mcguffin a silly, nothing name, while we're at it... It's come as no small surprise to me that this, of all things, might be the straw that breaks the camel's back and pushes me to stop playing Grounded after release. The system, itself, is an upgrade to the previous system. But the implementation? I personally hate it. So, am I the only one?

  9. one thing we repeat over and over again is the difference 'tween legal and right and/or wise. very quick the focus regarding the trump documents is gonna be the fight over whether trump did illegal, but such should be a secondary concern. whether trump personal is guilty o' crimes related to his retention o' documents (keeping in mind that regardless o' crimes, the papers being requested by doj and the archives were not trump's but were the property o' the people o' the US,) is deflection from the fundamental question o' whether or not trump acted reckless and irresponsible. even if doj decides not to prosecute, if they believed trump had highly sensitive documents in his possession, there were more than a little justification in making the attempt to retrieve such papers and intelligence. similar, IF trump did indeed have physical intelligence in his possession at mar-a-lago, intelligence which could compromise US assets, then regardless o' prosecution efforts there should be universal condemnation o' trump behaviour. ... hate to do this, but am gonna bring up hillary and the emails. get tunnel vison on what is legal is gonna have people who has already made up their mind 'cause o' tribalism missing the more important issues... at least more important from Gromnir pov. ... is all kinda new ground being broken. is now an effort to have the affidavit for probable cause made public, which would be unique in our experience. make such public before charges? well, ok then. also, is a legal quirk few will find interesting at the moment, but 18 U.S. Code § 1924, the retention o' classified documents section o' code, is notable absent from the warrant. IF the feds were seeking to prosecute for mishandling and retention o' classified, then 1924 is most obvious section... but is no mention. is perhaps a way to avoid trump argument he declassified? speculation. HA! Good Fun!

  10. Man, people sure love to nitpick that movie. On the plus side, I guess that means generally people really liked it, because if they wouldn't, they wouldn't be talking about it for so long.

  11. I typed up half a paragraph about the use of CGI in films, but then Agent Smith asked my why I persist, and I realized that I should just chose not to. Suffice it to say that this sort of weightless fake CGI hurts my personal suspension of disbelief more than an alien big game hunter stalking humans for fun. The bear is only one part of the film, but certainly the most egregious - there's of course the fake snake too, the fake wolf and the fake cougar, and they all have the same problem. Very, very deep uncanny vally. Everything about these scenes makes my brain scream at me. Like @Bartimaeus suggested, if that is the result, one might as well just drop the action sequence entirely. No, you're right, they're all supposed to be Comanche. Great, now the archery doesn't just look wonky, now I know it is wonky. No idea what happened there, but from the video you posted and looking at a follow up, it looks like the producers took a peek at Ishi archery and added some Mediterranean flavor to it. Well, or they watched too much Avatar like you said.

  12. a cgi bear were the bridge too far? no. just no. is she comanche or na'vi? now am suspecting there is some archers somewhere in history who use bows as does the star o' prey... and the na'vi, but such were not the case o' the comanche. most noteworthy aspect o' comanche archery were preternatural speed with which they could release arrows while mounted. for those genuine curious, go to ~4:00-5:10ish. am recalling seeing a comanche archer when we were young. guy were on horseback hitting 20 yd bullseyes from full gallop and is hard to stress the negligible time 'tween each arrow hitting a target. lakota archery traditions is similar to comanche but noteworthy different in a few aspects (e.g. heavier double-curve bows.) we may end up seeing the movie, and am knowing is a minor thing, but was the weird archery for the comanche in prey necessary? did it make the movie better? am also wondering why every picture we see from prey with comanche using a bow makes it look as if they all got osage orange, but we could live with that curiosity. after all, haven't seen the movie so for all we know is only one bow in the entire film and is being used by multiple comanche. regardless, w/o having seen the movie, the released images o' comanche doing archery more appropriate to pandora set our teeth on edge. why? HA! Good Fun! ps we read somewheres prey protagonist is 'sposed comanche, so if that ain't true, then ignore everything we posted. regardless, the willie pekah video is kinda kewl if you are willing to watch the entire ~fourteen minutes.

  14. Skald can only get 1 phrase back from an action. Afaik the number of enemies hit isn't relevant. I know of no way to generate more than 1 phrase per action. However, it is more likely to get 1 phrase back because multiple crits will each have the 50% chance to do so. With Charge I think you get no phrase at all because it doesn't do weapon attack rolls. Skald only gets back phrases from melee weapon crits. Tactician might get back more than 1 discipline - afaik here the actual number of interrupted abilities determines the outcome. By the way: Tactician doesn't gain 1 discipline when he simply lands an interrupting attack on an enemy. The enemy has to execute an ability/spell by the time the interrupt attack lands so that the ability/spell is really interrupted and lost. If that happens you get 1 discipline.

  18. Whoever made Event Horizon should make a “real” wh40k movie A friend and I saw Maverick in the cinema last night. Not something I would normally watch and he’s way more into the Marvel stuff, but it was the only thing showing at a time and place suiting us both. It was surprisingly unsucky, which I suppose means it didn’t meet expectations More humour and a slight toning down of the macho stuff (it’s still there, but it has taken on a slightly self deprecating nature). Sound track of the first Top Gun was still better though

  20. OMG hitmen would be an odd complaint anyway, since that's basically been Mossad's MO for most of their assassinations. Better than trying to blow up the captain of the Vincennes with a car bomb (and almost getting his wife instead) anyway.

  23. Frostseeker only procs one healing from White Flames. Multiprojectile/attack roll weapons like Blunderbuss, Frostseeker or Sun & Moon for example don't provide additional procs. Driving Flight does not provide an additonal healing proc. The only way I know of from the top of my head to get more than one proc of White Flames' healing is to dual wield and execute a Full Attack (both weapon strike = two procs of healing). There was a thread once that explored the possibilities - and maybe there was some obsucure way to proc more heals... but if there was I forgot about it. Anyway: Frostseeker + Driving Flight procs just one healing. I tested it ingame right now just to be sure. No. That's because Spirit Frenzy adds a second attack roll for the staggering which piggybacks on your auto-attack. The auto-attack itself is unchanged und thus doesn't profit - but the attack roll of Spirit Frenzy which staggers does profit. In order for the auto-attacks to profit from the Helm your original weapon attack itself must come with an affliction or affliction roll. For example a weapon like Concelhaut' Draining Touch or Caedebald's Blackbow will profit from the Helm. Iirc a Forbidden Fist attack also does. DoTs only provide a single attack roll at the beginning at most (in case of self damage ther is none), the rest are ticks with no rolls. Refreshing Defense needs hit rolls to get triggered. Pulsing spells like Chillfog or Wall spells etc. which repeat an attack roll every few seconds will work, DoT effects won't (besides the initial hit roll if there is any). The best way to use Rfreshing Defene is to get grazed with -3 underpenetration a lot. So basically high but not too high defense and as high of AR as you can get. No. Carnage can be seen as a spell effect. The only things that come to mind that work with Carnage are effects on enemy that trigger on hit (see Combusting Wounds or Recall Agony and such) and also Spirit Frenzy (applies staggered to Carnage hits) and stacks of Lord Darryn's Voulge's Static Thunder. What also works is some universal draining effects like the Old Siec chant and Blood Ward (Furyshaper). Carnage cannot crit, so effects that happen on crit (see Blood Frenzy) are out in the first place.

  24. Nah, not an overreaction, Bolton was involved in the overall approach with Iran and well, if someone killed a Western official, they'd want revenge too, right. As for cowardly, eh, using a hitman isn't any more or less cowardly or brave than a drone strike.

  25. I looked at the code, and that comment definitely doesn't have enough detail to explain the behavior, which is, to be honest, bizarre. Typically in Boolean algebra, R1 and R2 or R3 would be evaluated like (R1 and R2) or R3, but that's not the case here. The conditionals are evaluated in order. If any AND conditional is false, the whole condition fails. If any OR conditional is true, the whole condition passes. In either case, evaluation will short-circuit (not evaluating any more conditionals). If neither of those things occur, the result is based on the operator of the last conditional. If it's AND, the result is RN (the result of the last conditional) If it's OR, the result is RN OR RN-1 I'm not sure why it says "right-to-left". As far as I can tell, the evaluation order is left-to-right (top-to-bottom in JSON).

  28. Troubadour/Berserker with Amra: min RES, max INT and 25 MIG, add AoE size gear and a pet that adds 20 health per kill. You will kill Ancient Brittle Bones and Many Lives Pass By skeletons "accidentially" via Carnage and Amra's Riven Gore which gives 20 health, Bloodlust, Blood Thirst and so on. Do not remove Confusion! Once you get Blood Thirst never turn off Battle Axe modal and just melt everything. Streetfighter/Berserker with Amiina's Legacy (great if you are a Dwarf): Unse Hunting Bow modal to fire at high speed. Use Berserker Frenzy to get to Blooded quickly which triggers Streetfighter's "Heating Up". Now shoot with awesome speed and pile up Blood Frenzy DoT, Deep Wounds, Arterial Strike and whatnot. Finish with Barbaric Smash. Use all the shooting gear. Pro: insane attack speed, great dmg modifiers (high Sneak Attack + Deathblows + Blooded) + good PEN (Tenacious + Crippling Strike). Con: accuracy could be better. But great at taking out high prio targets such as enemy casters. Makes the early game pretty easy because all the main components for insane speed are there from lvl 1. Berserker/Skald with Blightheart. Summon Ancient Brittle Bones and later Many Lives Pass By and then use Berserker Frenzy for confusion and cast Her Revenge onto enemies while skeletons get in the way. Every kill (skeletons included) will give you 1 phrase (see Blightheart's Hymn of Decay). Since Skald's Her Revenge only costs 2 phrases you will be able to cast it in very quick succession. Skald or Troubadour/Furyshaper with Willbreaker. Kind of self explanatory. Use Willbreaker + modal + Spirit Frenzy (NOT Spirit Tornado) + Ben Fidel's Neck + The Long Night's Drink to lower enemies' Will and Fortitude into the ground. Use Brute Force to gain significant virtual ACC by attacking the superlow Fortitude instead of deflection. Great for the rest of the party while crushing bones. Also works very well with Ngati's Tusk instead of Willbreaker, but you need maxed Survival + the enchantment "Lord of the Hunt". Berserker/Monk (better not Shattered Pillar or Forbidden Fist): use Saru Sichr + Swift Flurry. It does multiple attack rolls because its DoT does a hit roll which seems to trigger Swift Flurry (and Heartbeat Drumming). Use modal and Enervating Blows + Spirit Frenzy + Stunning Surge + Brute Force and attack enemies with low starting fortitude. The chance to crit will be very high and the multiple hit rolls of Saru Sichr will lead to a lot of crit chains (both target fortitude). Also the DoT works like Bleeding Cuts: they stack and pile up. PRO: Saru Sichr is early stuff. CON: doesn't work as well against poison-immune foes.

  29. I am a gamer that loves to create and build. Grounded has a great building system but it could be even more awesome with some new building pieces I wish we had. -We have horizontal half walls, what about vertical half walls? For any wall type and even for the current horizontal half walls, making them quarter walls. Sometimes I don't want to entirely close off a space but still have some sort of devider. -And sometimes I feel a bit limited with the stairs, or don't feel like having greens stairs in my builds that don't use any grass. Stem stairs and half stairs would be pretty neat to have too. -Let's talk about the stem half wall and let's be honest, it's a great railing but as a wall.. it doesn't blend into the full stem walls for let's say, when you make a tower of specific height. -How cool would it be if we could provide more detail and structure to our bases with horizontal beams, this is mostly an aesthetic request. -Next up, roofs. My castle outpost towers of 1 square look a bit silly with the dome pieces, but other than the flat roof piece, nothing really works for it. So I'd love to see the dome piece but squared. Also the peaked pieces, there's no triangle wall pieces that fill in the gaps that that roof piece has, just a little finishing touch. And my last purely aesthetic request: being able to paint structures like the working bench and the production buildings To whoever reads this, feel free to drop your idea's on this post!

  36. The 'rona caused a reduced sense of smell, and with it, reduced taste. Most foods that are not laden with salt or sugar, are swimming in fat or rich in glutamate taste like paper. Well, paper that's better chewable than paper, but still, not the most pleasant of sensations. On the bright side, I'm not able to smell sweat or any other unpleasant olfactory experience originating from (other) humans, so that is a plus. What a wonderful disease, can only recommend it to everyone.

  37. I went to pick up my dog's ashes from the vet today. I cried more today than I did when we put him down. He was a very good boy. I really wanted that vet to tell me it was just arthritis. I could help with that! I was helping with that. Bought a bunch of rugs to help steady his footing so he could walk. I was going to build a ramp so he didn't have to struggle so much coming in from the yard. But that's not all it was. The Vet made a recommendation. And now I miss my friend. My brother. I'm so glad for all that time I spent trying to help him, though. I'd carry him out back and put him on the lawn, tell him I loved him and he was good. I'd go out with him with a treat and make sure he walked around to keep his strength up. I'd make sure to play with him the few times he managed to stand up inside. I got quality time like that. But damn do I wish it meant more than even that.
