  1. The important question is: when is G's birthday? Barcelona is great, especially with good weather, so you can spend time strolling through Parc Güell. London you can do in any weather - if it rains cats and guard dogs, it's just normal weather. And for the various museums you'll be inside anyway. I haven't been to Seville. I never even finished Ceville on the PC come to think of it. Obviously super secret pro tip: Athens. It includes lunch with melkathi.

  2. My kitchen got subjected to a number of strange things over the Christmas and New Years period. Not at least because of that female friend I had staying at my place for a month. Rum Balls, Feta and Ham Filos, Pizzas (New York style), pan cakes. Egg Fried rice (with ham, green onions, carrots and some interesting sauces), various curried. Now in pondering if I should have a go at Kimchi Stew Got a lot of leftover Kimchi that needs to be used soon

  3. I'm tentatively planning on taking G on a trip for her birthday. Covid may screw that up of course. It seems intent on never f----g off to wherever irrelevant viruses go once folks are basically immune. If that ever even happens. I was thinking of Spain. I've always wanted to go, I can speak the language well enough, and she has never left the US. I was thinking Seville or Barcelona. It would only be for a week so I'd rather spend it in ONE place and see all of that place rather than rush around the country trying to cram everything in. I'm leaning towards Seville though. Any suggestions?

  4. Out of a 2.25 lbs package of ground beef I usually make 6 burgers, so 12 patties. That works out to 5.3 patties per pound. It's not an exact science, I just form roughly inch and a half diameter balls for each patty. I generally cook on one notch below max heat. You will likely get a bit of burn you need to scrape with your spatula, that's just extra flavor. Do all your prep ahead of time because once the meat hits the pan it's very quick, little to no time to do anything else.

  5. 0.12.0 Public Test - 3555 to 3561 "Next Material" action only shows up in the Building radial and not the others. Survey data on the Map after loading a save is no longer incorrect. Survey visibility on the map for clients toggles on and off correctly. Arrows properly embed into hanging pupas that fall down when shot. Fixed some client issues when toggling various items on the map. UI art pass on the Building Radial material pips. Additional terrain polish. Doors behave correctly for clients. Customized lights actually apply custom lighting changes after loading a save. Haze Field Station has it's own Data tab entry. Pressing LT no longer closes the Ammo radial (which is previous page when you have more than 8 arrow types) Crash fix that could happen when removing a PEEP.R marker

  6. After some reflexions I assume that should work even on body resistant ennemies : when I wear the Footsep of the Beast while confused with Frostfall and a dex resistance, my character is hit by the hobbled affliction (auto-hit) that is downgraded to nothing, and the 25% chance to apply an affliction when afflicted work. Then, even if Dorudugan cant be hobbled or sickened by this way, this is however a weapon hit when Hemorrhaging proc.

  8. It may be different now, but last time I was there, it was the English “packaged tour” tourists you had to kick your way through. Easily recognisable too. The day they arrive, they’ll be pasty white. The first night, they’ll drink themselves senseless and the second day they’ll sleep it off on the beach. Usually turning red and outright blackish purple in the sun because of their firm belief, that a sufficiently high alcohol content in their blood makes them immune to UV rays. At least they acted that way. You didn’t really see them again until they catch the bus back to the airport, then all wrapped up in alufoil like bandages and boxes of painkillers in their hands…

  9. Ribeye seared in cast iron with some roasted vegetables on the side. Nothing like a steak to end the week. (Nevermind that I have to work tomorrow) You know, I've never done smashed burgers. I don't mind thin patties but I was taught that smashing them took too much of the juices out. How does it compare to just doing regular patties?

  11. Haha, that first comment broke my brain - started laughing out loud for a solid 30 to 45 seconds after I read it, starting with a Picard facepalm. The exact way they said that is phrased as if they were being completely sarcastic...and yet, in the back of my head, I knew that they were not being sarcastic, and so that juxtaposition was just hilarious*. I guess you have a better idea of who this garbage is made for now...and you're now armed with the knowledge that StrikerS (and even the original series) were complete aberrations. You really need to implement my "[X] doesn't exist after [this date] because I decided it doesn't anymore" OCD-avoiding cheat, at the very least. I mean really, what if I sent you an .mp4 entitled "Sailor Moon S Super Secret Lost Episode!" and it was actually the first episode of Sazae-san or something (+8000 episodes!) - would you still try to watch all of them? *Although the commenter probably meant that it isn't filled with idiotic pointless internal monologues or any kind of equal that I would agree do tend to unnecessarily burden any show that makes frequent use of them, what they said was "[no] pauses for talking", and that's a different thing entirely. Man, looking back, a lot of the parts of Sailor Moon's main story feel like they don't even belong in Sailor Moon to me. Any time I ever think about Death Phantom or Black Lady or the circus crap from SuperS or even the non-silly Hotaru/Professor Tomoe stuff from S...pretty much anything besides defeating Queen Beryl from season 1 and I guess the Sailor Starlight stuff from season 5 to a degree isn't even really like a part of the Sailor Moon canon in my head. The beatings will continue until morale improves the mind control situation improves.

  12. "How do you kill that?" "Dynamite and chickens." "... Chickens?" “They’re bait. You kill the chicken, tie on a stick of dynamite, light it up, and throw it into the path of the black willow.” “I suppose that’s humane, since you kill the chicken first.” “You don’t want a frightened chicken with a lit stick of dynamite tied to it running around.”

  15. Hi folks, Nothing radically new here but a fun combo I've overlooked for a long time even if I've played a ton of Assassin/Wizards. I've been toying with an Assassin/Bloodmage while playing solo with BPM because this multiclass actually benefits a great deal from BPM's Smoke Veil costing only 1 Guile - even if Blood Mage gets a big nerf on its signature cheese abilities. From there, I wanted to maximize the lash from Deltro's Helm by hitting myself with Shock spells, so I tried to pack as much damage done/taken increase % I could muster: Maximize Spell Damage output: High Harbinger Robe Accelerated Decay, Kuaru's Prize Sonorous, Sash of Judgment Balance in all things, Griffin Blade Hound Courage (I switch to Blightheart for combat), Crusted Swordfish Food, Harley pet, max MIG/PER etc. Maximize Damage taken: High Harbinger Robe Accelerated Decay, Sash of Judgment Balance in all things, I also got the full Red Hand Guilty Conscience curse as well as the full Shards of Woedica curse from Shattered Vengeance (I had a hireling hit me) which, on top of the Assassin passive, net out +100% Damage taken. I also wear Sandals of the Water Lily to lower defenses... pure glass cannon. There are other ways to increase damage taken, but with my health pool (274) it put me in the sweet spot of reliably triggering a high Lash and Fighting Spirit as Human with Chain Lightning or even Jolting Touch... while not committing suicide on the spot . From there I tried to find the best way to maximize alpha-strikes and I went for max Arcana and Tornado scrolls. And the results got really fun as you can check in the video below. Tornado scrolls are cheap and easy to manufacture, I get a range of 24 (!) with Farcasting, a radius of 11 (!) while getting a ton of damage (on top of Arcana, all the generic damage % increase buffs apply) and very nice PEN (16+) and ACC (140+) thanks notable to Assassinate. But the true cherry on the cake is the Knock Up effect: a high-DEX Assassin can chain cast Tornados covering the entire battlefield and activate Smoke Veil in between casts as fast as the enemy can get back on their feet... so they can't do anything and, provided you can land your spells, you can brute-force a vast amount of serious fights even on Upscaled PotD. An Assassin also has access to Deep Pockets so you could potentially pack 20 Tornado scrolls, 10 Invisibility potions and cast Tornado > Invisibility 20 times in a single encounter . Just for illustrative purpose, here is the the Pickled Eel fight with enemies taking up to 1100+ damage per cast and very routinely getting in the 600-800 damage range

  17. Not in anime, but it stupid action things, and Mike & Jay liberally complained about them being some sort of action and sci-fi/superhero film staple a while back while reviewing the Transformers movies, Avengers and some other stuff. It basically comes up every time they see a final battle in a spectacle film where some random laser beam shoots into the sky for some reason. Star Trek Picard had one too at the end. That's why I said all this stupd film lacks now is a skybeam for the final fight, and it delivered one right on cue.

  20. My, are we curious... I think I may have covered it in the what you did today thread, but short recap, she's an old friend that I got to know online originally, while playing Star Wars the Old Republic. It turned into a real life friendship. This time around, she came and stayed at my place for a full month. Working from home some of the time, which meant she would work from home at my place and I would work in the office here in Brisbane (we work for competing products). When not working, she would split her time with me and her family up here. Her brother, in-law and a little niece that was born while borders were closed and nobody could visit each other. When not with her family, she and I would go to the theater and watch stage productions, try out Halal Snack Packs (https://www.tripadvisor.com.au/LocationPhotoDirectLink-g255068-d12435083-i299586287-Eat_Fresh_Takeaway_House-Brisbane_Brisbane_Region_Queensland.html), cook our own stuff (hence my previous post, a lot of the new things we tried out, get drunk, fool around, go for long walks, whatever two people do living under the same roof for a while. And no, it's not a "romantic relationship". She's 27 years younger than me We are very close friends however.

  23. Russia has a Democracy actually and it's about as corrupt as America's democracy, they do have various political parties. The Russian population is just more right wing in general than populations of Europe and that's why they hate them really. That, and Cold War sentiments don't die easily. U.S. is about split on Right vs. Left (with probably more independents mixed into the crowd than we think). People in China have plenty of individual freedom and their government encourages it but their population and government favors rule of law over anarchism. Again, it's not a black and white situation.

  24. "There's no way they actually use the full name when talking about her though, right?" *screenshot* Oh. Yeah, that is not good. I couldn't help but laugh at this, because there's a famous American basketball player named Kyrie (Irving) who has been very publicly sitting out the entire current season because he refuses to get vaccinated. ...But that's pretty much the only thing I laughed at, because the rest of that was terrible. I don't think you have to worry about any of us watching this trash, . Maybe it was because there was nothing else of note to talk about this for this movie?

  27. Smashed burgers. Nothing fancy: 80/20 ground beef gently rolled into roughly inch and a half diameter balls. I don't have a flat griddle, but that would be ideal, so I use my largest frying pan (12"). High heat, put the balls of beef on the pan (2 per burger), put a piece of parchment paper on top of each and squash them flat and very thin. Season on one side (I use salt, pepper, and paprika), flip after 30 seconds, put cheese on both patties, put one patty on top of the other after 20 seconds, then put the stack on a (preferably brioche) bun after another 10 seconds. Add whatever veggies (I use lettuce, tomato, and onion) and condiments and eat. It's greasy and messy but super delicious, like a burger from a good greasy spoon.

  28. I actually had 3 CON. But I had a potent healer in the party. And I used Amulet of Greater Health and Tough as well as a lot of regeneration gear, damage reduction and Voidward (helps with self damage). I would say Nalpasca is the best monk subclass for this. The self damage of Berserker gets an extra boost from the Helwalker passive - and while that leads to fantastic wound generation it can be too much to handle to be fun at higher levels. Also because you can't actually see your remaining health but have to use tricks to guess where it's roughly at. This can become a tedium and not worth the added offensive output. It might be necessary when wielding Amra though (needs 25 MIG to be good). Nalpasca wounds from drugs + Berserker self dmg + Enduring Dance is incredible wound income without the need to get hit by enemies - and also being able to stay away a bit (which means less danger of catching an Arcane Dampener which will end the drug benefits, which sucks). At first you can use a reach weapon and later use Instruments of Pain with whatever melee weapon. If you get attacked in melee a combination of 1 wound/6 sec (drugs) and 2+ wounds every 3 secs (self dmg + Enduring Dance) in tandem with Rooting Pain can be a cool "oh ****"-button if you also pick Blade Turning. Stalwart Defiance is also good - but I would still suggest you also bring a strong healer or a Priest with Barring Death's Door. Fun I guess. Barbarian offers a lot higher dps since the attack speed is higher, there's more potential crit conversion (as Berserker I mean) and a lot higher dmg bonuses. If you'd want a sturdier combo then of course Fighter is the better choice. But I was mostly adressing your statement that "Monk/Barbarian multiclass isn't that good" - which is not correct imo. Just because there's a bit of overlap doesn't mean something isn't good. Besides there is no overlap that's unavoidable. And even if you end up picking something like Swift Strikes AND Frenzy: Swift Strikes still gets the +5 DEX which stacks with Frenzy's action speed bonus so it's not entirely wasted. And you're picking it up for either Lighting Strike lashes or Swift Flurry procs anyway, not primarily for the 15% action speed in this case. I already mentioned self dmg + Monk has great potential synergy since you don't actually need to get hit to produce wounds anymore - and also the use of Rooting Pain in combination with that mechanic. Other good synergies are Enervating Blows + Spirit Frenzy + Brute Force (and a Morning Star perhaps) which makes crits even more likely against a lot of enemies which don't have 20 (or even 45 with a Morning Star) points fortitude over deflection. All non-Berserker Barbs do profit from Thunderous Blows even if it "only" upgrades Strong to Tenacious, and Berseker/Monks don't need to pick it. And the interaction between Swift Flurry/HBD, Blood Thirst, Enervating Blows, Spirit Frenzy and Brute Force with Bloody Slaughter and Barbaric Smash as finisher is just so much fun against mobs. Check out Sun & Moon in the main hand + Scordeo's Edge in the offhand with Barbaric Smash... can't do that with Devoted bc. two different weapon types *insert sad face Devoted panda* Anyways: it may depend on what aspect you exactly mean when saying it's not that good. It's not that good at staying alive (and that can be a disadvantage of course). But it's very good at being an enjoyable damage combo. Some avoidable or insignificant redundancy in ability effects don't change that imo.

  29. am suspecting merkel stepping down played a part in putin's choice to instigate this situation now as 'posed to earlier. from our pov, germany has been the nato member most notable for their absence o' concern regarding russia insofar as the current ukraine situation. is hard to imagine merkel remaining taciturn. given covid mishandling, the world bank projections on diminished growth for 2022, and the recent protests, putin no doubt needed the win you were referencing. however, while is likely an overstatement, merkel stepping down in december is possible worth considering as an overlooked contributing factor. HA! Good Fun!

  35. I miss Bioware's* writing. Larian, though, should return monkeys to the zoo, sell the typewriters and use that budget to finally hire a writer. * Except Andromeda and Inquisition, these suck too much.

  36. So, everyone has their role in a community, right? My jobs are: 1) Post Mordheim screenshots 2) Rant about the lie that is the theory of two extremes, as best illustrated in "moral dilemmas" such as the choice between NCR and Caesar's Legion 3) Generally dislike writing in games as well as tedious design choices 4) Specifically dislike Larian and Bioware writing 5) Post Mordheim screenshots. Admittedly, I have not been posting too many Mordheim screenshots. Mainly because I have not really found much that I haven't screenshotted before.

  37. My list of finished games is short. I'll do a Good, Bad, Ugly list (not all games released 2021) : The Bad 2021: Evil Genius 2 was the worst offender. My greatest disappointment in any game. Especially as the marketing people flat out lied and described the game as being the opposite of what they said. I had a positive opinion of Rebellion as they had been decent in the past, but EG2 burned any and all goodwill I had towards them and put them on my no-purchase list. Vampire: The Masquerade - Night Road I gave up on after 13 minutes. I seriously disliked the writing. A game that is pure text should convince with the text. Conglomerate 451 tries too hard to be 1337. The devs try to do some damage control on the forum by acknowledging that their design direction has alienated a LOT of customers (read: no Save & Quit during missions because a true rogue like has consequences...) Necromunda: Underhive Wars I already disliked last year, but I was going to be the bigger teddy bear and give it another another chance and see how all the hard work the devs put into the game improved things. Bolters now drop as loot, which had previously been left out of the loot table. Yay... a year worth of patches and it is the only significant change to be honest. Rock and Rogue a Boo Bunny Plague Adventure is bad even for a game which you walk into fully expecting a yanky one man project with problematic gameplay. The original Boo Bunny Plague was hilarious and made up for any hiccups while playing. The Meh 2021: Rogue Lords is a rogue like where you play the devil and use your essence (HP) to affect things in the game. Sometimes the gimmick works well, such as when you walk into a boss fight but have a terror effect that let's you use the devil ability for free once, and so you reduce the health of the boss to 1 for free - it cheapens the fight, but you are the devil so it is very thematic and a highlight of the game experience. Often it is just a thing you do. The biggest problem is the insane damage that you just can't block. All rogue likes have inherent balance issues and sometimes your team will get an encounter they just can't beat. But usually all encounters would be beatable with the right team. In Rogue Lords some encounters just aren't winable ever with any team. Meh. Encased is throwing too many survival mechanics at the player, making the game too tedious for me to play. I understand other people will enjoy it and overlook some faults, but while the atmosphere is great, I can't find the energy to endure the gameplay. Probably because just like in Encased, I'd have to sleep for a year to regenerate the energy to play the game. Vampire: The Masquerade - Shadows of New York tried hard to be better than Coteries. And it falls short. While in theory we get two endings now, the writer should have spend less time congratulating themselves on how awesome they are and more time making the writing matter. Cat Quest is super cute. It also basically is one internet cat meme done over and over and over and over and over again. I don't regret the two hours I played, but I do have to admit that I repeated the same 5 minutes 60 times in those two hours. And they made a second game... Wildermyth starts interesting and has a good concept. It gets very repetitive very quick though and the random events are too repetitive, not written well enough, and in the end just add skip skip skip tedium. I ended up caring less and less about the characters in my party. Humankind is your standard Amplitude 4X game. LOADS of interesting ideas. But I find the game could do without the gameplay and just let me create my civilization through a questionnaire. The Good 2021 Age of Wonders: Planetfall remains one of my better experiences this year. The empire mode in the last DLC made the game enjoyable in a way the badly written campaigns couldn't. Empire mode is a reason to play the game. The content before the Star Kings DLC was a reason not to. Trials of Fire is a rogue like that does not have your party on the left of the screen facing the enemies on the right. Instead you are markers on hexagonal map tiles; deployed on the left of the screen while your opponents are deployed on the right... The characters have interesting abilities and the loot is rpg fun. Star Renegades is fantastic in the standard good guys on the left, bad guys on the right rogue like genre. Amazing pixel art. It has a premise that works well to make you repeat the loop. It has terrible writing by people who think they are funny. It has an involved way to unlock more characters. The WTF? 2021 How the heck did I end up playing 200+ hours of Skyrim? The reason I stopped was not being able to decide who to marry so the girls could have a second parent. The Highlight 2021 Troubleshooter: Abandoned Children completed its current content recently and except for the one story and one optional crabmit maps (which, if modded out of the game would be great) continues with the same of everything that made the game great so far.

  38. The stats affecting conditions is one thing that is best turned off in the difficulty settings. They're just an annoyance that has nothing to do with making things challenging.

  39. Well, Kingmaker sure feels as if I was playing a teenager's D&D campaign... Resting is pretty much as stupid as in Encased. While healing with it is good, the stat decrease spam from many opponents early on in the game makes it so you need to rest multiple days in a row just to be able to get back in the fight. The starting party is also basically crap. Devs want to make a game that is just a standard D&D campaign, but then they want you to have useless characters in the party so they can break the mold.

  40. I started pathfinder kingmaker. Not convinced, but due to too many AD&D campaigns in my teens, I will soldier through it for now
