Hey there, so if you are a Berserker/Cipher and like to do some cool stuff while confused (like casting Amplified Wave or Ectopsychic Echo on enemies) you will probably like this one: When you are confused and cast Amplified Thrust on a single enemy (you can bc. confused) it will damage and push that enemy directly. If a second enemy is around it will jump to that enemy, too (and do its thing). This is essentially a +100% multiplicative dmg boost and pretty cool because the single target dmg is quite high (for a tier-2 spell). Enjoy!4 points

Classes : Psion / Forbidden Fists Stats : Mig. medium Con. medium Dex. High Per. Highest possible Int. Lowest possible (3base, -2 Kith Meat = 1) Res. High Skills : Arcana Highest possible Importants abilties and spells : Antipathetic Field - swift strikes Mental Binding - Dance of death Fractured Volition ( on BPM mod) Ectopsychic Echo - Stunning Blow Body attenuement - Enduring Dance Duality of Mortal Presence Borrowed Instinct - the long pain Iron Wheel - Turning Wheel The pain Persist This build is made in accordance to the Hostiles effects durations rules : The duration of an effect can be increased by the cast of the same spell when the first duration is inferior to the new effect duration. The spell is like refreshed, still count for the same spell. The secondary effect of Enfeebled (+50% duration of hostiles effects) doesnt stack when you enfeebled an already enfeebled ennemy. But a new one Enfeebled effect add a new +50% duration of hostiles effects. % duration stack on previous % duration : for a starting duration increased by 50%, it is merely Duration*1.5. On the same effect, another +50% duration is now giving Duration*2.25 but from the initiale spell duration (not dependent of the time elapsed). Ect. This build is effective from level 1, and begin really potent at level 10, for revealing all his potential at level 20, only against non- resistant to constitution affliction. The "pattern" is really simple but require a lot of micro-management to take place. In first time, with your Body Presence, the transcendant hit with Forbidden Fist. Enfeebled is against Fortitude but once the Deflection roll is okay. Lowering these defenses before can be helpful. With the 1 intellect, the Enfeebled effect is going to hit for 7.6s (12base +20% PL -45%int) a 10 resolves ennemy. It is short, more longer when crit but it is possible to prevent any crit with Major Injury*. It is risky since that cause you -20 all defenses. Once that first step rolled, the transcendant switch to his Spirit Presence. Then, your int is 11 (Enduring Dance), It is enought to cast average and long durations spells, like Mental binding or Puppet Master, and Borrowed Instinct. This one no only buff acc by 20, but compensate the Major injury -20 all defenses, and this beneficial effect depend fully of his hostile effect duration on the ennemy. You keep the beneficial effect when the ennemy drained is dead for the duration you got . Mental Binding have a short base duration (6s), so it is important to cast it at the end of Enfeebled effect. Then, the transcendant switch to his Body prensence. When the Enfeebled effect duration is over, a new FF applie a new +50% for the hostiles effects. Anyway, because your low int, your previous spells are close to finish. This is why you come back to the Spirit Presence, for casting a new Mental Binding or Borrowed instinct, to refresh them. Again, Body Presence, and FF when the Enfeebled effect is over. At this point, you shouldn't have to refresh the CC spells. Otherwise, just repeat the step before. Later than, you can stay to your Body Presence, and continue to Enfeebled the target by cycle over and over. During Enfeebled time, your beam spells (antipathetic field and ectopsychic echo) and yours scrolls are your DPS sources : beams have a fixed duration of 10s, whatever your int, and scrolls are not affected by int. So casting Embrace the earth talon scroll insteed of Mental binding is safer and also efficient against dex resistants ennemies. Against distant ennemy, you are able to stay at safe range with the Long Pain. And for ending, with the BPM mod, you can Enfeebled with Fractured volition, but vs. will this time. the duration is also 12s, but the scaling from PL is 30% . About why not max Int insteed of taking this strange way to reach higher duration with CC spells, it is because this build make hostiles effects Permanent on single ennemy, and it is very useful and economist when you use high-level SC spells on this target. * : the best way to get a major injury is to be knocked down with frost damages 3 times. This build match very well with my futur post (a way I just found to perma-stun even might-immune ennemies but not only. I will write this one in a few time).4 points

I had corona and my 5 days of isolation recently ended. No symptoms at all, and I only took the test because there was an outbreak in my son's kindergarten and he had to get tested (so I randomly took the test too since I was at the test station in the first place). Didn't infect anyone (as far as I know), everyone I've hung out with are testing negative, including my girlfriend.4 points

By the way, a confused Puppet Master is good (except for the -5int) because your character is still controlable (his alliance flipped but on his side, so..) and is able to use spells and abilities, and you get Intuitive and Swift from Squid's Grasp! I dont know if you already knew that2 points

I agree with @Bosmer. If I may add, a re-stealthing melee Assassin/Soulblade will be micro-heavy in a party, but have the advantage of being able to strike enemies locked in engagement, or ranged squishies that are not moving around. The annoying thing when you're playing a melee Assassin solo is that when you are invisible, many enemies go about their business and wander around, resulting in a lot of "Miss: Out of Range" attack resolutions or encounter reset where you don't get your resources refunded...2 points

Hey! Are you playing on PC? Then you could/should try the Balance Polishing Mod (in addition to the Community Patch!), which decreases the costs of Smoke Veil and Shadowing Beyond, such that playing a "stealthy" rogue becomes totally viable. If frequently re-stealthing is your playstyle (some people love it, others don't) than soul blade has obviously a great synergy with assassin (soul annihilation gets really boosted by the backstab damage bonus). But other cipher subclasses also benefit from assassin, since +25 accuracy for spells on high-defense enemies is really nice! In my opinion the increased damage taken by assassins doesn't affect your playstyle all too much, since you aren't supposed to take too many hits in the first place, unless you stack deflection. And smoke veil and shadowing beyond are not only great offensive abilities (in combination with backstab) but also serve as good "oh-****"-buttons when something is going wrong!2 points

Since I'm going to have company this Christmas, we're probably going to be hanging out a bit at my place, we already got tickets for some interesting theater performances (experimental theater, where the audience is in the middle of the play), visiting Australia Zoo in Beerwah (the place created by the late Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwing), doting on said friend's little 6 month old niece (and visiting the nieces parents I guess), getting a rental car and go for some rain forest walks in the national parks north of Brisbane, making BBQ at my place, getting drunk in cider and sake... so much to do and sooo little time. Edit: And a Merry Christmas to everyone around here, whether they celebrate it or not (I don't, but I won't turn down the opportunity to have a good time with friends either, as they don't my a grumpy old agnostic like me) Edit2: With the Omicron variant around in Australia too, I should probably stockpile on toilet paper before the holidays2 points

You are as bad as McCarthy area USA when it comes to BLM. You see them everywhere the same way the McCarthyists saw communists hiding behind each street lamp and behind each window curtain, ready to tear America apart! The word is 'paranoia' I think... in a society where poverty is a crime, sometimes punishable by death if you have the wrong skin colour and politicians threatens their children with the commies comming and taking them if they don't eat their dinner, people live fearful lives. Add to that a very badly functioning healthcare system for decades (one of the worlds most overpriced and inefficient ones), the lack of workers protection, the lack of security if you lose a job, making many people working 2-3 jobs at a time (making the statistics look nice, but in truth the US workforce is under-employed (and often grossly underpaid). Lack of mental health care. Lack of social welfare. Lack of higher education for large demographic groups... oh yeah, and also knowing that every weirdo who was never questioned about anything can buy an AR-15 and use for anger management purposes. https://www.quora.com/Why-do-Americans-live-in-fear You need a google or facebook account to read the related questions and anwers... Lets forget the silly, constant BLM boogie man for a moment and look back at 2016. Trump campaigned on fear. Fear of losing whatever manufacturing was left in the US, fear of immigrants, fear of Muslims, fear of empowering women and black people, fear of socialism (which was apparently everywhere as soon as daylight waned), fear of people taking your guns away, fear of a liberalization of society, fear losing status and prestige... and yes, he had this unhealthy, pathological obsession with Obama and Obama's popularity in particular It's almost like he made it his life's goal to destroy anything Obama created, being somehow an abomination in his mind. The better and more popular, the more effort was put into destroying it. **** envy much maybe? As for the bullet points: 1) The fear of "socialism" never left the McCarthy area (the 50's). It's like a cultural, collective memory thing, where there is absolutely no reasoning. If it gets labeled 'socialist', its inherently bad, regardless of any truth of such a statement. Truth is not important, the unreasoning fear is important (and exploitable by savvy politicians who keeps fanning the flames of fear in that regard). 2) Look at the number of unarmed black people killed by police compared to the number of unarmed white people? Look at the job opportunities in different layers of society? (not just burger flipping or garbage collection), look at how often people of various skin colours have been sentenced to life in jail or even executed after a death sentence, only to be cleared 20-30 years later by DNA evidence? I'll give you a hint, it's not white people who are dis-proportionally represented. 3) Unless something changes the current trajectory, yes, I think the US is perfectly capable of oscillating between the extremes until some government in the future does away with pretending and assume centralized executive power. Trump failed 2016-2020, but NOT for lack of trying. If not Trump in 2024, somebody else makes a case study of his presidency may succeed. Yes, Trump overtly supported (and was supported) by alt right groups and everything from right wing, armed militias over QAnon to The Klan.2 points

I ended-up spending most of the weekend dealing with Log4j reclamation (that's the last time I complain that a Friday is going too slow). Luckily it looks like we were able to secure everything that is public-facing and quarantine it until vendors update their software.2 points

Its range is pretty bad, that's right - but with Fleet Feet or D. Alacrity you can cast it and run away (no engagement) before the meteors hit you. Also Farcasting helps a bit. Sometimes I just use Rekvu's Scorched Cloak and stand in the midst of it - especially if I use the Fractured Casque with Grimoire of Vaporous Wizardry anyways. I mean it's supposed to be a shower - so I take one.2 points

It's a long and complicated story No. We were never "partners". Nor "friends with benefits". She's the best friend I ever had though. The one you can share everything with and vice versa, you get to know inside out. She sort of dragged me out of a deep, dark place I was in about 5-6 years ago. She's half my age and could be my daughter, so no, never an "ex", just a really good friend.2 points

I'm sure my colleagues are having a lot of fun with log4j too. Who thought it would be an advantage to be stuck in Microsoft's ecosystem for a change? Wasn't that long ago I was patching PrintNightmare in the middle of the night, now I get to watch the fun from outside for a change.1 point

Beats me. The worst chipmunk is still that second K-On! opening. But yeah, like I said, it's... not good. This is more of a minor thing and maybe widely known but: you can stack Shattered Vengeance's Shards of Woedica curse on yourself or your companions, and it doesn't go away. Why would you want to increase damage received by +25% will you ask me? Well, if you like to use Deltro's Cage Helm lash shenanigans. This can stack with Assassin +15% dmg received, Helwalker +50% dmg received, The Red Hand's +40% dmg received... Potential applications: Solo Strand of Favor abuse runs, with Rakhan Field Boots and Lord Darryn/Essence Interrupter to get a better permanent lash. More legit use in a party, already well known: get a Helwalker/Streetfighter wearing Deltro's Helm, the stuff above that will incur +115% dmg received. At the start of the encounter: give him BDD+SoT, Crit him with Chain Lightning... and unleash this horrible one-shotting beast unto the enemy (he can attack with ranged weaponry or Instruments of Pain). For example he can dash to an optimal spot to reach all enemies with AoE shots, apply Gouging Strike that will proc Powder Burns+Blinding Smoke with Hand Mortar, now he's On the Edge and surviving enemies are Sneak/Deathblow enabled... then switch to Fire in the Hole and boom, Thunderous Report. End of encounter. Add +% beneficial effect duration items/food for optimal use. Note that you can probably also increase dmg recived on your toon with the Pally and Ranger +% dmg inflicted abilities if you Confuse them but that becomes very complicated to pull off .1 point

And dont let anyone reduce your excitement about BG3, Larian has spent much more resources and effort on BG3 because of how important this franchise is and I trust Sven to deliver. I never play early access games because I prefer the excitement of not knowing much but I read peoples comments on Steam or Codex which is minor updates So I am also holding out for final release ....you know what they say " great minds think alike "1 point

Likewise with me. It was the first time any of us tried a Larian game. My friend and I played it through in coop, then immediately restarted with another friend and we're about to wrap that up. We're considering starting another. In addition, my friend and I are playing through a solo campaign too. Needless to say, we are ridiculously hyped for BG3, but we're holding out for the full release1 point

Also the Nemnok' cloak give you a +15% damages received bonus ! Pain Link doesnt deserve your purpose since the 30% damages is deal as raw.1 point

By the way: why not Ring of Mule's Wit? Frees up the food part for better ones and also gives several resistances. You can't drop below 1 INT.1 point

Or better than perfect. As I reported some time ago I played an SC Psion with weapon & shield setup (and the CP) and I had zero problems with stopped focus generation (because crits seldomly happen), especially if you spam charms/domnates non-stop and then focus on taking down one single enemy - which this build obviously excels in. I think players still underestimate Soul Mind and that it keeps generating focus at all times: during recovery, during attack animation, during hard CC and so on and so forth. One can easily dismiss how good the focus generation of a Psion is (also because the PL scaling isn't obvious). Having done a playthrough with a SC Psion it is now by far my favorite Cipher subclass - because its resource genertion is so independent from actually anything (except eating crits). I reckon without CP it wouldn't be as feasible (but I didn't try). But sure - if you are alternating FF and a Cipher spell all the time (and have CP) that should be a totally legit alternative as well. Not Soulblade though imo - this build isn't about dumping focus into damage but about disabling a single enemy indefinitely. And CC spells are usually no shreds. Beguiler: not so sure - most hard-CC spells aren't deceptions and the focus gain from weapon attacks is nothing special. Maybe with Puppet Master though...? I can see Ascendant being a good pick even with the reduced Ascension time.1 point

If you're using Community Patch, Soul Blade or Beguiler would probably be more optimal. This is a very clever idea, dumping INT to have the shortest possible enfeeble so as to repeatedly re-inflict it. But melee-ing with a major injury sounds very risky. I presume that you also play this character in a party with a cleric to repeatedly cast barring death's door?1 point

Ran and Myao, episode 9. Uh...although there's been some subtle changes in our two main characters over the course of the show, this one in particular had some more prominent character development...and there was almost no attempts at humor at all except for just a little bit at the very bookends of the episode, which is a pretty big departure from the rest of the series. It was not...a fun episode, but it was the best one. Episode 10: All I wanna be...is someone who gets to see...a giant woman, a giant woman! On the other hand, if @majestic became the (anime) Joker, maybe he could finally beat some well-deserved sense into the currently terrible anime industry that is doing this crap to him...start a movement, get some heads rolling, get some better shows, .1 point
-
I use the CP, in fact i started from the idea that FF doesnt generate focus, and didnt realise it do with CP. That is a good point!1 point
-
I should add to this that you can add % DMG received by willingly getting hit by a Sigil of Pain. Max Curse of Pain Stack is +25%; so you can reach +165% damage received on a Helwalker/Assassin with the Pain curse, Shard of Woedica Curse, High Harbinger Robe, Red Hand, max Wounds and Assassin passive. Now with Barring Death Door, Deltro's Cage and Pain Link it might lead to interesting results? Might test later.1 point

That's without the Community Patch. But if you're playing without it Psion focus regen also breaks on damage.1 point

Todays weather forecast for Australia (pictures from yesterday I think). Unchanged from the the stuff I posted in the weird and random thread a few days ago, it looks like it's going to follow this pattern for most of the summer (which is the other half of the year down here compared to you people up north): Warm weather in the west: And a lot of humidity in the east: Unless some yet unknown border restriction comes into place between now and the day after tomorrow, a friend of mine will arrive from Melbourne and stay at my place for a month. Really looking forward to it. Haven't seen her for almost two years, since the on and off lockdowns started. I better get used to not leaving the shower and the kitchen a mess when I'm done1 point
