I used to get weird looks from the boys at school for my lunch time reveal. They'd have their chunky 80's / 90's lunchboxes with sandwiches in clingfilm, piece of fruit and can of coke. I'd pull out a slim tupperware box and peel the lid off to reveal selections of mini-cheeses, chicken panyang, onion bhaji, baby octopi in sunflower oil, or some mixture along those lines.3 points

Weird that Nintendo would set a video as "private" and how did I see it? Let's try this one from Atlus themselves: I can't see the original video I posted now either. Did Nintendo upload it by mistake? It's the same trailer. I don't see why Atlus would mind Nintendo promoting their upcoming Switch game.2 points

Nothing too amazing. Austrian smoked, various cheddars, brie, old amsterdam, manchego, yorkshire blue, lancashire cheeses, etc. It was a varied assortment over time. Not necessarily gastronomes, but we'd done a fair bit of traveling and been exposing to a wide variety of food types, and the local supermarket had a really good deli selection. Actually I think getting those pieces was about the same cost as getting all the components for "normal" sandwiches and assorted stuff. Combine that with parents who were very open to those different food types and didn't always have time or energy to make sandwiches, made it simpler for mom to pick that sort of thing up and just divide it up and pack it in a lunchbox since it didn't actually need any preparation.2 points

Whipped up some bacon wrapped chicken, roasted zucchini, cucumber salad, and avocado. It's pretty good, washed it down with a smoores beer I found on sale, which turned out breddy gud. I've got some halloumi that I'm trying to figure out what to do with. Not sure if I want to use it in place of a meat or try and add it to something starchy. I'm trying to eat less carbs, but sometimes a man just has to have some potatoes or pasta.2 points

i have a really hard time micro-ing ciphers if they're not my mainchar (which i naturally pay more attention to as a personal psychological bias). i put on an AI script, even if it's suboptimal, because when serafen (or ydwin) starts doing something, it's very obvious, and is a great time for me to be like: do I want this to happen? if not, i pause the game and change what they're doing if i do, i just let it happen and thank the AI script for using focus that would've just been wasted so i would personally recommend setting up an AI script, even if it's just the default (though honestly I would copy it and add in an appropriate minimum focus requirement, because by default the scripts are way too spammy and don't let focus accumulate). though personally i don't know what the big deal with mind blades is1 point

It is illegal in the EU nowadays but its still available on the Sicilian black market, the article I posted even specifically mentions this ...but Gorthfuscious since when do you and I listen to the unreasonable laws of all these corrupt and Capitalist systems. You know they just want to perpetuate inequality, us anarchists reject such laws because they represent nothing short of loss of true sovereignty, attempts to undermine culture, continued implementation of neo-colonialism and the rights of individuals to live in free and fair societies. Maggot cheese forever !!! And your cheese love of deep fried Camembert ,and Brie is basically the same , is an example of how those cheeses when baked or deep fried become better and the taste more pronounced. Because normally strong jams like blueberry would negate the relatively mild taste of Camembert but when you heat it or melt it then those jams are the perfect accompaniment Here is what the link says about the whole illegal nature of Maggot Cheese According to some food scientists, it is possible for the larvae to survive the stomach acid and remain in the intestine, leading to a condition called pseudomyiasis. There have been documented cases of pseudomyiasis with P. casei.[13][14] Because of European Union food hygiene-health regulations, the cheese has been outlawed, and offenders face heavy fines.[12] However, some Sardinians organized themselves in order to make casu martzu available on the black market, where it may be sold for double the price of an ordinary block of pecorino cheese.[10][8] As of 2019, the illegal production of this cheese was estimated as 100 tonnes (98 long tons; 110 short tons) per year, worth 2-3 m€.[15] Attempts have been made to circumvent the Italian and EU ban by having casu martzu declared a traditional food[8] (it has been made in the same manner for more than 25 years, and it is therefore exempt from ordinary food hygiene regulations). The traditional way of making the cheese is explained by an official paper of the Sardinian government.[16] Casu martzu is among several cheeses that are not legal in the United States.[17]1 point

Oh wow, looks like I totally slept on Solasta. I guess I'll get to it soon. I liked DOS2 well enough (though I never played vanilla and had to deal with the armor system lmao) so I'm reasonably positive about the game. I guess we'll just see what happens when it releases.1 point

Solasta is out but BG3 is thankfully still in EA as it seems like it still needs a lot of work. Though it may just be a game that never does anything for me.1 point

It's been a long time, but 5e is on the surface simplified compared to 3.5/PF 1e. Assuming a single class*, for the most part you'll select the skills or tools you're trained in at level 1, pick a subclass between level 1 and 3, get five (unless you're a Rogue or Fighter, who get more) attribute increases that you can substitute a feat for, sometimes pick features based on subclass. Other than that you're pretty much on a track that doesn't really deviate too much. I'd say it's still more complicated than PoE, but I haven't played either BG3 or Solasta (are they still in EA?) so I can't comment on how they function there. It does have much less options than either PF edition though, mostly because feats were sidelined. *Of course that initial assumption is a lot, and 5e does have open multiclassing so you can see stuff like a Hexblade Warlock dip to get CHA to hit and damage. There's nothing like you can see in 3.5/pf1e, but a big reason is because 5e really squashed the numbers. Anyways... https://m.imgur.com/a/mxGUD0f I guess the Legend is no slouch.1 point

Besides the usual (+INT) you can extend the Bellower's PL bonus duration with Wall of Draining and Salvation of Time by the way, removing that downside. Eld Nary is best with an SC Bellower however, so that leaves a fellow Priest with Salvation of Time (which has to be timed adequately). But with a Wizard/Bellower you can prolong the PL bonus as long as you wish. It doesn't do anything for non-invocations though, gets overridden by a new PL boost as soon as you cast a new invocation - and all non-Eld-Nary ones don't have a problem with the short PL boost. So I don't see a big advantage there. But a Bellower's Eld Nary's curse + fellow Priest with SoT is great imo. Start the fight with an empowered Eld Nary's Curse and Salvation of Time (maybe two casts) and most encounters are already done - sort of. But other combos like Bellower/Cipher or Bellower/Helwalker with Killers Froze Stiff are also pretty awesome. Empower Killers and profit from the Cipher's or Monks prolonging effects, stacked with the PL boost and enemies will be paralyzed for a really, really long time.1 point

Iirc, Kana said something about 5 siblings. Or they were 5 in total, can't really recall. I wouldn't mind seeing PoE up to 5.... ETA: He's the youngest of 6. Obsidian, if you're going to grant Ouroboros his wish, you have some work ahead of you1 point

One thing I noticed about Serafen as a witch was that his Wild Mind subclass means he sometimes "hits" himself and nearby allies when using cipher spells. When spirit frenzied he often staggered himself and others around him and I suppose it would be the same with blood frenzy. I'm sure there are ways to play around that, but I think I'll just go SC cipher with him in the future. ... or yes, sc barbarian. Guess I always simply thought of him as a cipher (because shiphunter).1 point

a few people notably disagree with me, but i maintain that serafen as a cipher is a trap subclass. wildmind is nothing like wild mages. BG-style wild mages had plenty of upside to balance how much randomness they added*. Wild mind foolishly tries to equally weight the outcomes which--all things being equal--favors the enemy, not the player. (In general, the player is expected to the win every fight in deadfire. Adding more variance simply provides more opportunities for the enemy to triumph over the player.) And, all things are not equal. Some of the "beneficial" outcomes may instead be bad, depending on what ability they triggered off of (since they go off whatever targeting was used). It's fun to buff or invisibility your party, but you were expected to win that fight anyway. It's much less fun to buff or invisibility the enemy... tl;dr: if you want a cipher go with ydwin. serafen is a good barbarian. if you really want a principi-aligned character, pick up mirke. she's way better (and more fun!). * people may forget, but wild mages weren't just about random outcomes. wild mages got extra spells per level as if they were specialized but had no opposition school. they also had plenty of abilities they could use to skew the results of their random wild surges to more beneficial outcomes. they also had one spell that let them cast any spell from their library (with a surge) and all they had to do was burn a level 1 spell slot. these are plenty of bonuses that function as upsides to all the randomness that are missing from serafen's wild mind in deadfire.1 point

I really like Witches. Pick Spirit Frenzy (not Spirit Tornado!) and give him the Willbreaker Morning Star (use the modal). Its hits lower fortitude by 25 (once, no stacking) and Will by 3 (stacks per hit). Use Secret Horrors, it's just great. That way you will have applied Staggered (Spirit Frenzy), Frightened and Sickened (Secret Horrors). Even without hitting the enemy with the Morning Star yet you lowered the enemies fortitude by 20 and the Will by 10 with just one spell. Now attack with the Morning Star - the targeted enemy will get -25 fortitude and a Will debuff on top (-45 fortitude!). Not only is this cool for your party, but also with Brute Force it will be very easy to hit enemies (who didn't start with astronomical fortitude). Resolve afflictions work well in combo with the Willbreaker. Also charming/dominating works well with a witch in general (can try to shake enemies with a yell to lower Will right a the start of battle - also here Staggered from Spirit Tornado gets applied). Wild Mind can be very annoying. But imo it's less dramatic as some other players make it seem. It's unpredictable and that doesn't sit well with most players who like to have full control. From time to time I enjoy a little chaos so I'm fine with it. Though I would't be in an Ironman run I assume.1 point
