Speaking of Mari, I think I've changed my mind on Rebuild. It's an utter failure as a Neon Genesis Evangelion reboot and as a movie series in almost every way, from looking bad, to narrative problems, to character problems and thematic issues. However, I'm pretty sure by now that it's a 10/10 troll attempt, and most fans don't even notice that and rate it highly. Anno sure is laughing at them right now. That takes some dedication to work for 15 years and power through depression only to do a piss take. I was angry at first because it felt like I was being trolled, but I don't think I was. The general fandumb? Oh, yeah.1 point

I think it’s all about debt. Debt = Misery. I would rather make $30,000 with no debt service than $60,000 when better than half of it is going to pay back money already spent.1 point

And it's not limited to a single country either. Being an a-hole is an international thing. While this may be the case in the US: https://www.sbs.com.au/news/why-the-far-right-and-militia-groups-are-protesting-coronavirus-lockdowns-in-the-us/febe93e3-3796-42e6-94b5-599143d43959 Why the far-right and militia groups are protesting coronavirus lockdowns in the US ... The biggest anti-lockdown protest to date took place in Lansing, Michigan on 15 April, where about 3,000 people gathered. Mr Trump appeared to tweet support for demonstrators in Michigan, as well as those in Virginia and Minnesota, where coronavirus lockdowns were imposed by Democratic governors. Elliott Brennan, a research associate at the United States Studies Centre, said it was no surprise the "fringe" far-right groups were mobilising in those states. “It’s no coincidence Trump and the shady underworld of the far-right have singled out those places," he said. "They’re all crucial to Trump for his possible re-election in November and places where the Democrats can be made to see culpable for the afflictions people in those states are feeling as a result of the coronavirus.” But, every country has it's own problems (the US had Trump, we're still stuck with Scott Morrison, if only because there has been no election since he ****ed up the handling of the bushfires so badly) https://www.news.com.au/technology/online/inside-telegram-fringe-groups-behind-protests-where-conspiracy-theories-spread/news-story/6d92de607490f2515c9ee0fa04c713e8 Shared widely on Telegram and Facebook are messages about storming the press conferences of NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian with an army of “100,000”. The proponents of “freedom rallies” in Australia’s two largest cities, attended by as many as 30,000 people, are devout followers of QAnon, members of the far-right and prominent anti-vaxxers who refer to the majority in lockdown as “masked zombie slaves” with “nothing inside them at all”. “The “pandemic” is a cover for a currency reset (aka the Great Reset) and everything that comes along with it is a smokescreen,” one Telegram user wrote in the Sydney Freedom Rally group — an offshoot of the main organising group, the Worldwide Rally for Freedom. Others call for more extreme measures. These are mostly just morons. Gullible, easy to manipulate and completely incapable of independent, critical thinking. Oh yeah and a few populist leaders who are happy to walk over corpses (the more the better) if it helps their wallets and keep them in power. Then there are the better organized groups with a different agenda. It's still about power, but they want to use the means to a different end than the above: https://thenewdaily.com.au/news/national/2021/08/26/neo-nazi-anti-lockdown-recruit/ Neo-Nazis are targeting anti-lockdown rallies and using covert tactics to indoctrinate frustrated Australians into their hate-filled and violent ideology. At least two leaders of the far-right National Socialist Network were at Melbourne’s anti-lockdown protest on the weekend, trying to recruit new members to their group, The New Daily can reveal. It comes as Anti Defamation Commission chairman Dvir Abramovich, warned extremist groups are using the COVID crisis to “fan the flames” of hatred, resulting in increased anger towards the Jewish community. Before the weekend rally, the two neo-Nazi leaders, who TND has chosen not to name, appeared on a far-right anti-semitic YouTube show watched by almost 1000 people. ... Different source, same issue: https://www.theage.com.au/national/political-ambitions-and-anti-lockdown-protests-how-neo-nazis-seek-to-spread-influence-20210813-p58imf.html Politicians on both sides have called for Australia’s largest neo-Nazi group to be banned as a terrorist organisation after secret video and audio emerged of its violent inner workings and hopes to provoke a race war. Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews said on Monday that the National Socialist Network’s activities were disturbing and warned the threat posed by “extremist nationalist and racist individuals and groups is real and growing”. In some ways, I find the latter more disturbing than the outright stupid. Evil *and* stupid.1 point

I do believe I warned you, . My heuristic process for selecting what I will or will not give a chance never fails me! Except for the rare occasion that it does...but that's rare! Stand by Me vibes in a large way, but with a very angry and dysfunctional anime club instead of...uh, whatever Stand by Me had that this didn't to make this comparison work, .1 point

Roleplaying, giving your char a unique face and mentally investing in the (back)story does indeed help a lot. Even if you're doing your umpteenth playthrough. Berserker/Paladin is indeed a nice combo. And there also is the Goldpact/Shifter who can achieve enormous AR with 0 recovery penatly which makes him sturdy af but at the same time a good damage dealer. Err... I guess I'm not helping...1 point

One can't mod new models into the game afaik. If the model of the Spiritshift forms are seperated (like - individual objects for head and body) it might be possible to assemble the shifted body with a godlike head - but it wouldn't look right I think. The models can be tinted iirc - so at least the colors could be brought to match...? But the portrait would be no problem of course (given you find someone who has the skill).1 point

Right - I checked again yesterday because seem to have missed to uncheck one mod when I was doing the test. And I found out that FF works with Wildstrike in my game because of the Community Patch (which I somehow must have doubleclicked or misclicked when turning off mods). CP turns the FF ability into a "proper" melee weapon attack so it is able to generate focus, trigger Swift Flurry/Heartbeat Drumming and Enervating Blows etc. (and profits from other melee weapon passives in muliclass combos) which it didn't before and which was kind of a bummer, especially for FF/Ciphers. Because of this "little" change Wildstrike lashes will get applied to the FF ability attack. Boar DoT also gets applied bc of that reason (I guess, it's not tied to the tusk weapons in the first place but to the spiritshift modal). So indeed this interaction is NOT in the vanilla game (I suspect, didn't do an additional test yet) - but it works with the Community Patch. It's not gamebreakingly good - but def. very good. The very long Boar DoT I mentioned is not a product of the CP though but should also occur in the vanilla game: Enfeebled + Shifter Boar DoT (in vanilla game you might need two attack rolls for that: fist FF and then another "real" melee attack) will naturally lead to a very long DoT time because the Shifter Boar DoT has a quirk (vanilla game, too): it seems to have the base duration of the Spiritshift iirc - not the intended one which the non-shifter Boar DoT has. That's why Enfeebled + high INT from Monk leads to very long DoT times with a FF/Shifter.1 point

I'm a bit confused to be honest, are you offended or did you make a joke, or is this a reference to something I don't get, I mean, Commander Shepard on the Citadel aside since we were talking about Mass Effect 2. I'd take anything as long as it features Usagi and friends written by the same people that came up with their anime characterization. Although that is not a guarantee for a good anime, there's Clear Card as testament to that. Plus it really should not look like Crystal. Ideally... I'm not going to try that just to see if its even a fraction as interesting or fun as Sailor Moon. Nope. Fun fact time though, Toei initially envisioned Sailor Moon to be something like what Pretty Cure became, an endlessly running series with a similar setup but changing casts and storylines per season. An animated Power Rangers with magical girls. Boy am I glad that didn't work out like that. I'm giving that the benefit of the doubt based on the people involved. It's probably going to turn out to be stupid, terrible or stupidly terrible, or maybe about tons of incest because nobody who worked on Sailor Moon walked away with their sanity intact, apparently. It still looks like the most interesting thing Sato has done since Sailor Moon. Eh... I have no excuse besides desperation, and a rotted brain from watching Rebuild. That's what the manga did. Both the movie and the anime had to come up with original endings. CLAMP just stopped with the apocalypse after several early 2000s events. Earthquakes, tsunamis, 9/11. So, yeah, entirely possibly that some things will be left open.1 point

Strange... I didn't see Wildstrike working with FF and dots last 15s at best in my game.1 point

You are focusing on the initial strike. Sure, that's nice, especially bc. of the higher accuracy. Gouging Strike is good against big bosses, no doubt (but you can always do the same with Lover's Embrace and Leap and a potion of invisibility). Also with a well-placed CC from stealth or invisibility you can have a big impact. But against mobs the Berserker/Shifter will have a clear "fun" advantage due to Carnage and attack speed - and at least once you get Blood Thirsty and combine it with a well placed Plague of Insects + Infestation of Maggots (or Nature's Terror + Relentless Storm to use the Tenacious PEN) before shifting you will see what I mean. It also depends on solo vs. party. Solo I would prefer Assassin no doubt.1 point

Well, you are not wrong, assassin/shifter will do more damage against boss. It will also help land some hard cc. But do you really need it? In group fight, high prioritie are usually caster, berseker/shifter will kill them nearly as quickly than assassin anyway. You will burn guile at fast speed with assassin if you want to go invisible often leaving you with slower aa. Berseker can get some rage back if they time their bash when ennemy is near death. On boss fight, boar dot alone melt them anyway. And how many " hard boss" fight vs group fight? For RP (the most important for me), assassin/shifter is like a shadow beast killing slowly when no one is looking like in theses horror movie, while berseker/shifter is this mad bloodied beast rampaging the battle field at insane speed, leaping from one group to another and howling, leaving enemy in terror, unable to do anything. One is a chirurgical beast, the other an atomic one who is not that far behind in 1v1, thanks boar form...1 point

It is a bug. It occurs very seldomly but it's still there. It is not 100% confirmed but to prevent it from happening again you need to uncheck the "gib" option in the game options menu (I am not joking). If your gib option is already deactivated... I never had this bug during a lot (lot) of playing hours - and I'm playing without gibs. No proof but maybe another hint. You can get back the original helmet by reloading to a state before that happened (obviously), by using the console to give you the helmet again (will deactivate achievements) or by hiring an exported character as adventurer in a tavern to whom you gave the helmet in another playthrough. So if you have another savegame (can be the same run from before) with that helmet you can export a character with nothing on but that helmet, reload your actual game and hire that character at lvl 1 with items. It will cost a bit of money but you'll have your helm back without "official cheating".1 point

Probably best to play this in the vanilla game, or with more moderate mods like community patch and/or BPM. But Shifter Evolution enables the überkäse for those so inclined.1 point

No, that really is one giant head, or a normal sized head on a proportionally too small a body. Sailor Moon in ancient Japan. At the rate this is going, I'd be willing to settle for a Sailor Moon like show set anywhere. The moon, an alien space ship, in a lost world setting with dinsaurs. Anything. Alas, if there is something like it, I don't know where. I guess there's Pretty Cure left to try, but... but... but that's over 800 episodes in like 17 season/series and 14 movies, and looks way too action focused. Once I'm done with Princess Tutu I'm going to give Magic User's Club a try, which was directed by Junichi Sato (Sailor Moon's series director for the first season and the R filler arc) and features character designs by Ikoku Itoh. Mostly because it's short. Really short. 6 piece OVA followed by a 13 episode TV anime. Afterwards... I'm going to go by some other suggestions, I guess. Crusher Joe looked like something that would be totally for me, so that's definitely on the list. Not sure I want to watch Eriko that close after X. A reprieve indeed, alas, not really something that will hold your interest. There are nice moments in there though:1 point

am o' the opinion that tell somebody they is privileged is self defeating. call somebody racist or privileged immediate makes the situation adversarial. am a minority and we grew up poor by any standard, even by standards in the poor nations o' the middle east. nevertheless, the people who raised us made sure we knew we were loved and they stressed the value o' learning if not formal education. we also were a gifted athlete who were offered full-ride scholarships in multiple sports. oh, and we had a pony when we were a kid. compared to more than a few poor white trash kids who grew up with an alcoholic/addicted parent and took regular beatings or suffered debilitating indifference during their formative years, am having a hard time complaining 'bout their privilege. after gifting half our accumulated wealth to charities the remainder is nevertheless substantial and we retired comfortably at fifty. so is our fortune earned but the white person who grew up in the burbs and is maybe able to send both of her kids to college and possibly retire before she is too old to enjoy twilight years needing to ask forgiveness from minorities everywhere? US institutions since the inception o' the nation has been active promoting racist policies which disadvantage minorities. true statement. now what? tell somebody their opinion is less worthy and their accomplishments is tainted 'cause they is white and refuse to admit their privilege bothers us on a fundamental level in addition to the fact am realizing such condemnations and recriminations is self defeating. 'ccording to most any poll we has seen, the overwhelming majority o' americans, even republicans, believe there is endemic racism in this country, but almost nobody is believing they personal is racist. perhaps such a recognition is evidence o' a disconnect but it should also been seen as an opportunity. is a whole lotta not minorities in this country and they largely believe that minorities is treated unfair-- is not like the 1920s or 50s. is objective better. tell those not minorities, many o' whom has been suffering decades o' financial hardship that they is lucky to be so privileged and you is transforming potential allies into enemies. what a waste. and am gonna note the comments made in the article 'bout the community in colorado is less the kinda stuff rich people says so much as the kinda thing douchey people would believe. me and mine attitude is less 'bout wealth than is 'bout being an a-hole. during a pandemic a community particular hard hit by a disease which has killed hundreds o' thousands o' americans took efforts to slow spread o' covid-19. mass quarantines woulda' been impractical solution, so at least prevent the non-resident population from accelerating the spread were seen as a reasonable option. the fact some people cannot look past their own selfish interests is not so much a wealth problem as is recognition some people is gonna be selfish regardless o' the circumstances. HA! Good Fun!1 point

Almost all of ISIS-K's funding is funneled through Pakistan from wealthy Gulf donors because it's a neighbour, but its ultimate source is mostly rich Gulf individuals with a dollop of fake charities and the like. Pakistan as a country doesn't support them, the Taliban would have to go far further off the reservation than they have- probably pal up with India or similar, so not likely given Modi's bigotry- for Pakistan to back anyone else. They're still Pakistan's pet project. Also, Pakistan is not completely moronic, and backing ISIS in any way would be a very very obvious own goal waiting to happen. While no doubt there are plenty of sources saying that Iran supports the Taliban that is ludicrous, they have a cold détente based on both wanting the US out. They also have a limited budget, and far more friendly groups to fund (in Afghanistan and elsewhere) than the Taliban, and not just the Hazara. There are also 'sources' saying that Iran funds ISIS, and no doubt rain on your wedding day/ 1000 forks when all you need is a knife/ meeting then man of your dreams then meeting his wonderful wife are all despicable Iranian plots in the mind of someone at the CIA. I mean, funny how "Russia is putting bounties on US soldiers stuff" disappeared entirely after the election, having done its job of embarrassing Donald Trump and reinforcing the Russiagate conspiracy theory... Well OK, there was a barely reported hearing in which it was labelled as 'low confidence' (spook code for 'a load of old bollocks'). Both the Taliban and ISIS-K get/ got a decent amount of internal funding too, from intimidation and drugs. Be interesting to see if the Taliban goes back to a zero drugs policy now they're in power again or not.1 point

I see alot of post trying to add elements that would detract from the what kids are capable of. So I say lean into the aesthetic this game already has. Let's go to camp. Things to see added Archery targets-made of dry grass these items will grant a buff if you hit the bullseye for the day. Increased damage with projectiles Canoes-just an alternate method of transversing water without having to deal with waterborne foes. Bon Fire-collect stems and dry grass to make a large fire that will keep bugs away. Must be refueled every so often. Billy hog roasted-whats a bon fire without roasting some I am pretty sure it used to be meat by products Marshmallows-can be harvested by cutting. Chunks can either be roasted or used underwater to float objects to the surface. The Blob- a large air bladder that would be made of leather and rubber. It floats on the water. Anyone on it will be bounced if something lands on it while the are on it. Get creative with ziplines to see how far you can launch a friend. Merit badges-these are items of accomplishment. They are earned by either going above and beyond the game scope such as using a trampoline under an aphid to see if he can be a cosmonaut when you smack the grassblade he is on or see how many shovel hits it takes to beat a wolf spider. Fishing- use bait to reel in mosquito larvae and other oddities Stewpot-using the chefs secret recipe combine food items and certain non foods to get better items. Like spider chunks and water would snow spider legs. Mmm pass the butter substitute. Wood shop-use skills to make better buildings and tools. Maybe a two person saw for faster harvesting husky weeds. Spiked Palisades to reflect back damage. Wooden helmet nearly indestructible makes you stun proof but increases your heat so you get thirsty much faster. Softball gear- you can get a nice little outfit to go with the wooden helmet that increases you running speed while not holding a weapon. A glove that acts as a shield and a ball that can be thrown like a pebblet being hucked but flys farther faster and can deal more damage. Ghost stories with burgle. He will tell you stories at night that give a little insight to what happened to the different labs such as Whose eating who(muscle sprout themed), the breach(explains the pink footsteps leaving oak lab), The New assistant was a real Fungi(Haze lab story), Secrets from the dark web(the brood mother's attack on the hedge lab), and last but not least [REDACTED] Throw in a sleeping bag-a storable lean too and your set1 point

Huh, I always thought it's kind of a waste that Monk/Druids can't use Transcendent Suffering in any form for their spiritshift attacks (could have been a weakened version of TS or whatever) - but I never thought about the Forbidden Fist ability in combination with Spiritshift. Just slept on that combo. Does the ability get Wildstrike bonus in the vanilla game, too? I reckon Shifter Boar's DoT with Enfeebled + Turning Wheel might be insane on its own...? Edit: jeez, FF ability indeed gets the bonus of TS and all the Wildstrike goodies in the vanilla game, too - including Boar's wounding DoT. That's awesome! ...Lol - the Boar DoT lasts for nearly a minute then. What a beast... I also love about the FF/Druid that you can walk in your own Tanglefoot and get <1 sec afflictions all the time (=plenty of wounds).1 point

Okay, I gave Aloth all three spells and attacked him with Magran's Might (convenient because it's single target, gets reflected and every pulse counts as one spell so I don't have to cast so many spells). The VFX of all three combined look cool by the way. What I found: the reflection spells don't get supressed by superior versions. However, as I suspected, a reflected spell (here Magran's Might) substracts its levels from all three reflections simultaneously by the time it gets reflected. So it's not a "layered" reflection - they don't really stack. Thus it is useless to have them all active at the same time. Better to cast a follow-up once a former reflection spell expired (that way you also get a way longer duration of reflection overall).1 point
