  1. With a handful of exceptions, I haven't watched weekly in years. Seems like it's contrary to the advantages of streaming when compared to network TV. Finally got around to Madalorian s2. Maybe I'm just easy to please, but it's much better than the recent movies and manages to deliver good scifi/scifantasy that doesn't make tons of people hatewatch and complain like the new trek shows.

  2. "Maybe I'm just easy to please" No, it's actually a decent show. It's probably the only Star Wars I've seen in years where I didn't want to scream while watching it.

  3. @BruceVCThere is nothing wrong with open world per se, the problem is oversaturation. This issue isn't exclusive to video games either. Once super hero movies became popular then very quickly the market became oversaturated with super hero movies. When a particular style of music becomes popular very quickly the market gets flooded with other artists that sound extremely similar. Any media that becomes a big time business invariably becomes directed less and less by artists and more and more by committees and focus groups. When there's a lot of money at stake, companies will follow trends rather than artistic vision. I like to play open world games from time to time, particularly of the Eurojank type, but I also like a more linear game too. There are advantages to linear games, especially when it comes to the pacing of the story. I like variety in my gaming, but at the AAA level gaming has become increasingly homogenized. Thankfully, there are indies.

  4. Have you seen Loop Hero? It looks and sounds awesome (if you're intro retro stuff). Here's a video about it:

  5. I forgot how much Enter the Dragon's plot mimicked a typical James Bond plot. Take out the kung-fu and replace it with a poker tournament and you basically have Casino Royale.

  8. Glorious victory. Hitman fans are ecstatic on social media. The backstory: There was a great deal of controversy regarding Hitman 3 being an Epic Exclusive (What else is new!?) but not because it was and Epic exclusive, but because it was stated that you wouldn't get access to the previous games with updated content from Hitman 3 if you had them on Steam (Or elsewhere) by buying it on Epic. Each game in the "World of Assassination" Trilogy is a single chapter and all games are connected together every time a new one releases it augments the prequal with updated GFX and weapons/equipment/etc. IOI servers are now implementing it so every version you own is going to be connected and you won't have to do any rebuying.

  19. It's weekly here too- and delayed, which is kind of weird considering how comparatively little TV they have to show with covid delaying so much stuff. Schedule is determined by whoever bought the show locally.

  21. Apparently over the last decade it's become one of those words that a lot of people react to in a "slightly icky, sexual awkward way" when its used. Helped by a certain creep of some pop-culture and characters shuddering when they hear it. The evolution of language and how swear words happen I imagine. https://nautil.us/blog/-why-is-there-so-much-hate-for-the-word-moist

  23. I straight up will not watch weekly shows until the season is fully released. I'm not usually in the mood to watch a show over several months' worth of time these days, especially because I'm the type of person that likes to watch only like 1-2 shows at a time to begin with - also sometimes my free time is limited so not being able to watch something when I do have the free time because of artificial time barriers is greatly annoying. Sometimes I *really* want to watch several episodes consecutively, particularly because shows have ups and downs and letting a show sit sourly on one of the downs for an entire week can get me disinterested in continuing it entirely, especially with the plethora of other shows out there. Some shows just straight up work better being able to see multiple episodes in a row or otherwise at your own pace. I'm also not the type to get into the whole social media aspect of watching a show "together" as its released - with only a very few exceptions, I really don't care if I'm watching a show years after everyone else did.

  24. Since I'm forced to pay a TV/public licence tax I've been trying to find something worthwhile from them and found an interesting podcast called P3 Dystopia, where they talk about the different threats to society, freedom and wellbeing. Nothing new for me so far, but it's still amusing enough to listen to. I've been very amused at how often they use Deus Ex Human Revolution OST music though.

  25. Universal basic income is spoken up with derision quite a bit. And at present it is unworkable. But we are coming to a point rapidly where there will be more workers than work. Automation, obsolescence, coupled with a population that only expands. I am not sure where the breaking point is but I am sure there is one. Maybe that art appreciation degree won’t be worthless after all. Maybe at some point in the future there will be time for artist to create art and for educated people to appreciate it. But, not today.

  26. This had already been revealed. CDPR had said they plan to move into full development of the next Witcher game soon after CP2077 was released. But also that the game will not be Witcher 4 because Witcher was always meant to be a trilogy and that Geralt's story is over. But seems now development start for the next "Witcher" game is going to be delayed.

  27. Had something that might elicit a slight WTF reaction from the boardies here... kinda similar to the idea that you'd boil beef in stock to eat it, instead of boiling it in water to make stock (heh). Behold: Ribs with sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and mustard with onions and peppers. The ribs were cured and smoked at a lower temperature, and then instead of grilling them or throwing them in the oven you simply simmer them in water (or, ideally, in the leftover water from the last time you simmered cured and smoked meat) until they're soft. And yeah, it tastes much better than it sounds... or looks. Really.

  28. Dont worry my friend, here is the most important part of the article The Polish company will spend the next few months working on fixes to Cyberpunk 2077 instead of planning expansions to the game or getting started on the next installment of its other popular franchise, The Witcher. The first new update will be released toward the end of January and a second “in the weeks after,” Iwiński said. It looks like they will be working on another Witcher ...maybe Witcher 4 ? That is fantastic news

  29. Due to the current "second wave " we going through in SA we are not eating out so Im back to cooking in most of the time which is fine because I enjoy cooking and I find it therapeutic I made some great mince on Friday and I always freeze the extra mince as its so versatile for other meals And tonight I am treating myself to a....Cheese Fondue, I have this fondue recipe food written in 1970 which has about 50 different fondue recipes so I am never at a loss for a different type of choice, it always involves cheese of course https://www.amazon.com/Fondue-Cookery-Alison-Burt/dp/B002BQP9MU

  30. One other note. And I can’t speak for everybody but hell will freeze into a solid block before I ever write a check to FAU Or attend any of their alumni functions or interact with them in anyway. Anybody who writes checks to their Alma Mater has more money than sense. That’s like sending Christmas gifts to the people who robbed you.

  31. You can also create a hireling (called adventurer) in any inn and then park them in the stronghold. Doesn't really matter what you create. That way you don't have to use a precious companion if you don't want to. Just make a Fighter named "Nuck Chorris" and let him do the missions.

  32. In Finland universities, colleges and vocational schools constantly adjust how many people they take to any particular line based on estimates from public and private sectors what kind skills are needed in work force in three to five years in future. Also schools adjust their curricula constantly based on feedback from job market. This is done in order to minimize number of people that graduate with degree that is not needed on either public or private sector during time when people are estimated to graduate and for moribund sectors. Although this is not without faults, like for example in beginning 2000s, when Nokia's dominance over cell phone markets was estimated to last decades, universities heavily focused to taught very Nokia specific subjects which caused problems on markets when Nokia's inner bureaucracy caused it to drop from cell phone markets entirely, which lead to situation where lot of students graduated to unemployment because there was no demand for their skills, luckily internet for things booms has allowed them to be able to found record number of start up tech companies to produces all sort of products that use cellular networks, so their education didn't go in waste, because they were able to create new market with their skills, but story could had much bleaker end too.

  36. To quote Keyrock: “I'm honestly getting pretty burned out on open world in general. Maybe it's not so much open world but instead how every AAA game has to check every single check box: Open world, RPG, action adventure, looter, survival, narrative, exploration with crafting, building, collecting, and multi-player.” And that is a reason, why I spent 10x money on Indie games than on AAA games (If you consider Dishonored and Tales of franchise as AAA) in the last 5-7 years. Worth every single cent...

  39. I know it's a common defense to let it lie and have a dev walk away from their games, it still seems kind of sad when it's a franchise they own and should support. The console versions are probably the worst example of walking away, but the end state of POE2 even with all the patches still has room for improvement for sure.
