I believe the logic goes: if they aren't freedom* lovers, that is necessary and sufficient to make them commies. People vigorously argued that Hitler was actually a socialist in these boards, and I'm sure they will again given the cyclical nature of these threads. * unless exercising freedom bothers me personally, in which case, please please state power crush them! (and they were commies abusing freedom anyway, so it's not really authoritarianism, it's just that the boys sometimes get a bit carried away upholding law and order) When it's the essjaydubyoo hordes defining the boundaries of what's acceptable it's thought policing, but when it's us drawing the line on how far freedom goes, it's just self-evident truth, man. I used to believe that people were just being dishonest and get angry at these hilarious double standards. Not anymore. Cognitive dissonance is a hell of a drug.2 points

This weaseling to get around admitting your support for authoritarian use of force is sad. This is made all the worse by equating a private company enforcing a TOS agreement with state repression, and is outright puzzling when coming from someone who is otherwise a free market stan. I guess "freedom for me, but not for thee" is a hard thing to admit to, but it's absolute I think people should just delete twitter because it's a massive waste of time and most people seem angrier or more depressed after using it.2 points

I have everything purchased for my upcoming build except CPU, GPU, GPU water block, coolant, and SSD. I'll post in the specs thread once I have all components purchased. This will also be my first time ever doing a custom water loop. I'm both nervous and excited. It should be a good learning experience. If anyone is interested I'll post my experience assembling the water loop. Heating and bending the tubing will probably be the scariest part.2 points

For those who didn't play the first game and/or did so without perusing the builds from this forum, the Lady of Pain was/is my signature build for Pillars of Eternity and is in no way related to her Planescape namesake. Premise. Deadfire brings several mechanical changes to the table, to the point that recreating the first game's build 1:1 is almost impossible. I therefore set out to create a new build that would translate the Lady of Pain's foundations to the Deadfire mechanics: Maxing out MIG score (which Deadfire made simpler in concept by putting a hard cap on attributes.) Packing as many damage bonuses as possible. Pumping Accuracy. Reducing recovery as much as possible while using a 2H and wearing good armor. * Turning its weak spot (low Deflection) into an asset. * Deadfire also makes it impossible to reach 0 recovery unless you dual-wield Scordeo's Edge, so I had to give up on heavy armor and make do with the lowest recovery I could reach. As was the case with my guide for the first game, I'll be using spoiler tags for each section to improve readability and avoid the wall-of-text effect. The build is not tested for solo play (and I would advise against it given its early-game glass-cannon nature.) The guide includes spoilers for equipment and bonuses you can get throughout the game. Race, Provenance, Background. Attributes. Class & Abilities. Skills. Equipment. A.I. PoE Legacy. Berath's Blessings.1 point

They do work independently somehow. There are 5 disease immune, but not poison immune enemies (various forms of bats), and there are several poison immune and not disease immune enemies (skeletons, naga). White Worms works on poison immune only and does not work on disease immune only. Same for Rot Skulls. Noxious Burst works on disease immune only, and not on poison immune only, etc. Based on that, and the fact that no abilities are flagged as both, I wouldn't want to add the Poison keyword to any disease abilities. If we want to create a disease keyword, just to make it clear how those abilities interact with immunity, that seems fine. It would also allow future modders to create gear or abilities that take advantage of that keyword. This seems great. I wouldn't remove anything from the disease flagged abilities. Their flavor is suitably disease-y (corpse explosion, rotting skull tossing, etc.). I'd suggest instead that you add a keyword, or at least update the descriptions. A Disease Keyword has no mechanical interaction currently, but it does clearly indicate what's happening with the ability. It also opens room for future mods w/ gear or abilities. That would affect these abilities (That I'm aware of). Druid Spreading Plague Rot Skulls Chanter White Worms & Upgrade (I can confirm that they both are flagged internally as disease.1 point

republicans is desperate clinging to the old playbook. they is gonna drum up as much outrage and fear as possible before the election. muslims, immigrants and the deep state were the targets in 2016. little changed from 2016 in spite o' covid-19 realities. this year we is s'posed to be afeared o' fellow americans such as blm, antifa, radical socialist democrats... and the deep state. throw in twitter and facebook? maybe suggest social media is trying to take away second amendment rights? unmasking flopped. multiple senate investigations uncovered nothing. the durham investigation doesn't appear to be a factor. etc. all the fed efforts to create the outrage trump needs has so far failed miserable, and situation has only gotten more ridiculous with giuliani. White House was warned Giuliani was target of Russian intelligence operation to feed misinformation to Trump is only a couple weeks left to save trump and any number o' Congressional republicans from the admitted unfortunate retribution which appears increasing likely come january o' 2021. ... y'know, trump getting covid-19 were indeed a gift from God for his political fortunes, but he wasted it. trump coulda' become more serious 'bout covid-19 and healthcare after personal suffering from a disease which has killed 220k Americans and his base woulda' remained loyal. however, switching gears on healthcare and covid woulda' given older voters and suburban women an excuse to overlook all trump's other fails. is indeed many older voters and suburban women who is concerned 'bout law and order issues, but they simultaneous don't like the bigoted and covid-stoopid trump. the President doing the improbable and embracing a mea culpa on covid-19 woulda' been blasted by democrats particular on the far left. "how can he apologize to the more than two hundred thousand dead and their families?" etc. so what? wouldn't matter if left maintained course and criticized trump. however, if trump had altered the narrative on covid, he coulda' done the improbable and changed more than a few voter opinions in the 11th hour. survive covid-19, as terrible as it sounds, were indeed a gift from God for a politician so far behind in polls in most battleground states. wasted. couldn't admit he were wrong. didn't wanna appear weak. he had a reset button handed to him in october for chrissakes, and he threw it away to maintain his image? waste. instead, we get these pathetic but understandable last gasp efforts to appeal to fear and outrage. twitter. blm. hillary's emails? CDC estimates up to 240,000 total COVID-19 deaths by Nov. 7 once daily death counts surge, which is predictable given the past week o' increased hospitalizations and positivity rates in places such as florida, all the fake outrage is gonna be overtaken by real and genuine fear that the prognostications o' 400k dead by january is all too likely.1 point

Is this music or humor? Both? I'll put it here. I've been keeping tabs on YT "Roomie" for years, I love his impression vids/weird humor mostly. These days he has pretend feuds with others on YT. Anyway, ran across this guy "challenging" him this time. He's hilarious, loved it. When he imitates Roomie at one point I lost it. Plus I think he beats Roomie at the impressions this time. Nice ! Some testing that I won't have to do myself 1) Disease vs Poison : If I remember well, disease and poison do have the same keyword in the gamedata files (KW does not appear in the "ability object", that's why it does not show on the description, but in the attack and status). If this the case, I think adding Poison tag to the ability as well would make the whole stuff more consistent. They are close enough concept and ennemies are immune to both anyway. Poison tag would help identifying the ability that could be resisted. If they are different KW, I might put the disease KW to the ability and sees what happens 2) I just realized that Pernicious Cloud and Toxic Strike do not have Acid KW in spit of doing Corrode damages. I should add it to them. (Toxic Strike would be Acid, Poison then, as Noxious Burst). 3) Cobra should get the Poison KW. I added Acid KW to Blackbow to align it with Firebrand which was tagged fire. No reason not to add it. 4) About removing Poison tag : the only cases where I think it would be a matter of debate are White Worms and Rot Skulls. - White Worms because it is not even hinted in the description and it causes Crush damages. I suspect the Poison could be only on the sickened component (which still prevents the whole attack from working against poison immune). The Sicken effect is vs Will, which doesn't sound too much Poison/Disease to me. Are you sure the unupgraded version has also the Poison KW ? The spell is a bit meh compared to Thrice she was wronged anyway and might use a little buff. - Rot Skull because 2 Poison-based spell on the same Tier is a bit too much (and Venombloom is too much Venom to be changed...) Hey, so Perishing Strike might be more reliable, nay ? Good point for it (Boeroer should be triggered by this one)1 point

IIRC there are four "tracks" of rewards in SSS after critical story points. In no particular order: empowering your spirit friend getting an item to let you upgrade to legendary returning souls to the island doing something else to the souls the first three you can "stack" up to four times (four empowers, four item upgrades, up to +8 galawain bonus IIRC), whereas i think the fourth one is a little weirder. ISTR that i tried to do something with the souls the first time once and i couldn't and had to choose one of the others. i don't evne know how you get rymrgand's gift (never gotten it).1 point

The 5800 X is likely the sweet spot as far as purely gaming is concerned. The extra 4 or 8 cores of the 5900 X and 5950X will likely be of benefit in only very few future titles. The extra boost clock will be of benefit, but 100 or 200 MHz won't make THAT big a difference, not nearly enough to justify the price differences. As far as overclocking goes, we'll see how well these chips overclock in a few weeks. If they overclock anything like Zen 2, then not that well. Buildzoid explained why in his video in detail and that man does know his stuff. On the one hand, a 8 core chip will most certainly do an all core overclock better than a 12 or 16 core chip, all things being equal. On the other hand, the high-end parts always get the best silicon, so your chances of winning the silicon lottery decrease with the 8 core chip and definitely with the 6 core chip. With that said, I would still expect higher all core overclocks on the 5600 X and 5800 X than the higher-end chips. If I can safely get an all core overclock to within 100 MHz of the single core boost on a 5900 X LA_Noire_doubt.jpg then I will do it, otherwise I'll just leave it stock, though I will still put great cooling on it since it will help the chip boost longer before hitting thermal targets that would cause it to stop boosting. Overclocking the GPU will be my bigger concern, since that is where I'll get the majority of my gains, given that I'm targeting 4K at high-ish settings.1 point

I don't like the words "worthless" and "useless" since it's often used so hyperbolically. Of course the lower wound cap is suboptimal and this shows when using Turning Wheel/Iron Wheel. Also the Shattered Pillar first had that cap and then it even got hit with the "only autoattacks generate wounds". That would have been a good time to remove the lowered wound cap. But since it's easier to raise your damage output than it is to raise the amount of damage you receive (in a somewhat controlled way) the higher-level SP gains wounds faster if you know what you are doing. You will never get past 5 wounds - but you will reach that limit a lot faster than the average monk who needs to collect wounds via received damage - at least in non-boss encounters (here the SP has the same issues as a vanilla cipher, soulblade or ascendant). On non-PotD playthroughs with Swift Flurry it can be pretty ridiculous because the additional attacks count as normal attacks even if triggered off of ability attacks (you can even combine with Nomad's Brigandine, Offensive Parry or Riposte - both generate wounds as well. Offensive Parry + Imagined Pain + Nomand's Brigandine is awesome on a Shattered Pillar: tons of wounds if you trigger disengagment attacks). And you're not putting yourself in danger in the process. Your average wound count over the course of an encounter might not be that much lower. Still I would have liked it that the cap was raised back to 10 - like the Community Patch does. I don't think it makes stuff useless but it surely hurts (a bit too much for my taste).1 point

If you use Spearcaster against single targets you want to put everything into Arcana. Your ACC, especially with imbue shots, will be enormous. Shadowstep and Sap are crap (sorry - but it rhymes). Finishing Blow is mediocre. As a Ranger I would always pick Takedown Combo. Its +100% dmg bonus stacks with Backstab, Sneak Attack, Deathblows etc. It also raises DoT dmage and will not get removed by pure DoTs (e.g. Disintegrate). What is really good is Toxic Strike with Watershaper's Focus + Driving Flight. You'll create 3 AoE projectiles which will apply Toxic Strike in a huge area, hitting every enemy more than once. Same is true for Arterial Strike as an opener from Stealth. Also works well with Fire in the Hole+Hand Mortar. In case of Watershaper's Focus you can often expect Ondra's Wrath to proc (which is devastating as a Rogue because it profits from the weapon enchantaments like superb etc. and also from Sneak Attack and Deathblows etc.). I had a Trickster/Sharpshooter and did this build with it (scroll down to see some animated gifs of the char in action) : Ondra's Wrath got nerfed after I posted that. But I tried this build again and it still rocks. Trickster is supernice because you can lure enemies to a spot with Arkemy's Dazzling Light (as if throwing Sparkcrackers). Then, when they all stand tehre in a tight group looking around like idiots you go *boooom* It was a lot of fun. Also note that Arcane Archer's imbue effects will proc with every jump. So an imbue Fireball will proc 3 times from one shot if you use Watershaper's Focus or Fire in the Hole + Driving Flight. Even 4 times if you use Kitchen Stove with Wild Barrage (but that's per rest). Also note that Arcance Archer's imbue effects will not scale properly with Power Level. E.g. the PEN of Fireball and Missiles will not rise which makes them rather bad at some point. This was acknowledged by the devs but never got fixed. You can fix that with the Community Patch (see my signature) which lets the PEN of imbue effects scale with Arcana (it was the easiest solution and works fairly well).1 point

Balance issues with the current system In the current move, you have one move action and one standard action per turn, plus unlimited free actions. That causes the following set of game balance issues: Firearms are overall now much better relative to bows/crossbows, because reload time is no longer a significant penalty Many skills become nearly pointless, because they offer only single attacks and the default is now full attacks Knock down effects are much less useful, because enemies recover immediately from prone Skills that stun the enemy party each round (like Returning Storm) make the game trivially easy, because stun lasts the entire round Instant speed skills, like evasive fire or many wizard buffs, can be used infinitely in each round; at mid-to-endgame, this makes combat trivially simple, because you can (for example) trigger evasive fire 8+ times at the start of combat and wipe out entire enemy groups. A simple solution My proposal would address nearly all of these issues to some degree, and completely address most of them. Simply put, I suggest adding a third type of action per turn, a 'free' action, which would interact with each of the above systems. Some of these fixes are simple: Reloading consumes your 'free' action Getting up from prone consumes your 'free' action Each 'instant' speed skill consumes your free action, limiting you to one buff/Evasive Fire/etc. per round Getting stunned consumes actions based on the duration of stun in RTWP. A 2 second stun would consume only your free action, a 4 second stun would consume your free and move action, and only a 6 second stun would consume all three actions. The fix to full/partial attacks is more complex: Making an attack consumes a standard action, as normal; however, this only is a partial, not a full attack However, if you have your free action remaining, you can instead make a full attack instead of a partial attack, at the cost of consuming your free action. What this proposal doesn't fix Dexterity and attack speed bonuses being relatively less useful than in RTWP I'd love to hear your thoughts!1 point

One use per round for every individual free action might be the right thing.1 point

Depends. The effect only gets applied on crit. I was toying around with a Debonaire/Beguiler with Essence Interrupter. You can guarantee a crit on all charmed enemies (I mean if you don't miss or graze) - so I cast Ringleader on a group and shoot at each one once. The other party members can then do their stuff - every kill leads to a summon. Pretty effective I must say. It "DISINTEGRATES" not better than some other weapons though. It's a hunting bow with a bit of a lash. Aamiina's Legacy should be equally good as a hunting bow when it comes to dealing damage. A crit build I was then testing is Debonaire/Helwalker with Sun&Moon and Scordeo's Edge. And obviously Swift Flurry/Heartbeat Drumming and Stunning Surge. Enduring Dance and Adaptive stack. With a cipher in the party (or mayba a chanter - sombody who can charm non-kith for you) you should mainly attack charmed enemies with Stunning Surge: guaranteed refund and a high chance of triggering Swift Flurry and/or Heartbeat Drumming. On mobs it usually means one-shotting them. For kith I use Debonaire Charm and Magistrate's Cudgel (kills kith on crit and the crit conversion against charmed is 100%). Another nice crt build was doing Karabörü (Bloody Mess) with a Fighter/Helwalker: Swift Flurry/Heartbeat Drumming and Clear Out and Mob Stance. All enemies in reach will have a chance to trigger Bloody Mess. That works best (naturally) against groups of low defense enemies. So hefty AoE debuff is necessary. I really like St. Omaku's Merci. The 50% recovery skip on crit is not too random. And also here: attacking charmed enemies as Debonaire... you'll reduce your recovery by 50% basically (as long as you don't miss or graze that often). And then it's also possible to do a Debonaire/Wizard and nuke charmed enemies with AoE. You'll get 100% crits which helps so much with the generally low PEN of some spells. For all this Debonaire stuff it's best to have the new Beguiler in the party. His focus refund with Draining Whip is kind of OP now. I'm basically casting like an Ascendant all the time (when using nbig AoE Deception spells every now and then). Note that dominated does not count, only charmed.1 point

Quick note. I've decided not to give up on this build just yet. I will wait until all three paid DLCs are out and take a look at it again to see where it stands without any mods or Berath's Blessings; if I like what I see, I'll post a full-blown update. However, I will most surely use both myself in my every playthrough and I will heartily endorse the use of a mod that brings weapon recovery times back to what they were in the first iteration of the Deadfire backer beta (I made that mod for myself and will eventually publish it on the Nexus.) If you're keen on using the build right now: Replace Whispers of the Endless Paths with Blade of the Endless Paths. The latter has better base damage, better penetration, very good enchantments for single-target DPS (which is what this build is about), and the Quickened Blade enchantment to make up for part of the speed lost to nerfs. Equip Cutthroat Cosmo from the beginning of the game to enjoy the reduction in armor recovery penalty. You may switch to Nalvi later on to benefit the entire party at the cost of a 3% for the Lady of Pain. Use Mohora Wraps as your go-to food as soon as you can. Its -20% recovery time stacks with the extra Action Speed from Swift Flurry / Lightning Strikes and helps to make up for the speed lost to nerfs. If you're using Berath's Blessings, strike my original suggestion to allocate them to Resolve and go for 18 Dexterity. This should bring you back to where the build originally was speed-wise (in fact, slightly better off if using Berath's Blessings and Mohora Wraps in conjunction), with higher DPH and Penetration. The latter should suffice for just about anything; if you run into an enemy that is straight-up immune to Pierce damage, switch to your fists (with which you're automatically proficient) and enjoy the extra speed while you're at it.1 point

Whisper of the Endless Paths was nerfed in 1.1. It does half the damage to the initial target now as it used to. The deprecated tag was put on request of the OP. Actually he wanted me to remove the build from the list entirely - I went for a deprecated tag instead. It will eventually be removed from the list at some point if nothing changes. Run Through only hits the initial target and procs no cone. It has very high base damage though (works well with lots of dmg mods sure as Backstab) and its prone effect lasts a long time (compared to others).1 point
