  1. Sooooo, got a text message from my boss yesterday, and a phonecall from his underling today, the bosses are putting me in queue for a plain "C" truck drivers licence! I drive during working hours and study the theory on my spare time, so I get paid while learning. I have to stay signed for the company for 3 years, but **** it, I can live with that

  4. I'm having a ton of fun with the game so far, and I have nothing but praise for the story/writing/creativity that went into the game. But I've encountered several seriously annoying glitches that are on the cusp of game breaking. # 1. The enchantment glitch. The ability to enchant gear and keep it up to par with your enemies as you level up is a VITAL piece of this experience. I don't care how many new and shiny suits of armor I find, Eder is gonna be rocking the Saints War armor til the end of days. But what I've found is the game will crash and kick you out if you try to enchant gear while you have too many other enchantable items in your inventory. The game just can't handle all of them popping up on the screen at one I guess? The only way I've found around this is to stash a bunch of stuff in a barrell so you only have about 10 or so enchantable items and then the game will allow it, or sell your gear so you only have a few enchantable items on you at any time. Maybe make it so when you go to enchant an item, just that singular item pops up in the menu, instead of all 100 pieces of us hoarders cary with us #2 The disappearing Cursor. So this one really scared me. I finished a few ship battles and went to sell my gear in Neteka, which worked fine, but when I tried to buy an item for the supply store my cursor just vanished. No matter what I did it would not appear in the shops inventory to let me but anything. That means no provisions for my crew. I tried reloading other saves, but still no cursor. My last hope was exiting the game altogether, and re-opening it, which actually worked, but I was afraid my save file my have been corrupted. #3 Random Crashes - This is a bit less specific, but since I bought the game about 2 weeks ago, and have put about 40 hours into it, I'd say the game has crashed about 20 times at random. So about 1 time every two hours. For someone like me who likes to go 4-5 hours at a time this is a real immersion killer. #4 - Not really a glitch, but Load times... they are so long it might as well be a glitch. Please Obsidian its 2020 there has to be something you can do to improve upon this I play on an Xbox One X btw. I love this game and this series, if Sonic can get a redesign to please his fans I know you guys can fix these

  6. You know that feeling you get when you realize that you dont even know what you dont know? That happened to me when all my characters leveled up (Pathfinder). Im staring at the first screen trying to click next, but it wont let me, because I didnt choose a class to level up! Unbeknownst to me, I can mix and match classes to my whims! I chose their main classes anyway but it just illustrates to me that I have a lot of learning to do to achieve the best min/max results. Just finished the (assuming) tutorial and due to my choices the bard and barbarian joined me. I liked seeing the other character reactions to my previous choices, nice touch. Ima kill that little CE bastage that was trying to set me up next time I see him.

Boots: Footprints of Ahu Taka (!) ----------------------------------------------------------------- Xoti is one of the most maligned Companions in the game for many reasons, not least of which concerns her role in the party. As a Harvester of Gaun, she’s a variation on the Priest of Eothas that doesn’t offer that much of interest compared to Priests of Skaen or Wael; as a Sister of the Reaping Moon, her starting lantern and sickle doesn’t give her enough DPS to take advantage of her subclass’s ability to gain Wounds on kill, and is crippled even further by the increased Wound cost for her Monk abilities. And as a Contemplative, she loses access both to the useful Tier VIII and IX Priest spells, as well as 2 PLs on her Monk fists; with no apparent synergy, a multiclass Xoti can seem to combine the worst parts of both her subclasses. Small wonder then, that most would recommend keeping her either a single-class Priest or Monk. That said, there is a way to make a multiclass Xoti not only viable, but also more effective as a combat support specialist. With this build, Xoti can keep her party members topped up on health while contributing to damage at the same time, generate plenty of Wounds to feed her increased ability costs, and make her party that much tougher simply by being there; in short, she’ll truly fulfill her role as Gaun’s Chooser of the Slain. (Note on “Ultimate Edition” builds: With the release of the Ultimate Edition on PS4 and XBox, there will be many first-time players of Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire who will be searching for builds online, only to find that most available builds were created for earlier versions of the game. While many of those are still viable even in the final version of Deadfire, this would not be apparent to new players; thus, builds such as this will be tagged as “Ultimate Edition” to indicate that they’ve been tested for version 5.0.0 of Deadfire, including all DLCs.) Xoti, the Reaping Most people who note the ability of Xoti’s Monk subclass to gain Wounds on Kill seem to think that she has to be built as a DPS to make use of it, and thus are left disappointed when Xoti’s Sickle inevitably fails to make the cut as a weapon capable of dealing sufficient damage. And while letting her rely on her Monk fists lets her do decent DPS, it only works best for her as a single-class Monk; making her a Contemplative makes her Monk fists less effective due to the loss of PL. That’s why her sickle as well as Xoti’s Lantern are usually seen as trap choices for Xoti DPS builds; it would be a different story if her lantern could be used as a bashing shield, and both it and the sickle scaled with Monk levels like Tuotilo’s Palm, but there’s no accounting for the dev’s design choices. That said, I feel that’s the wrong way to look at it. To make use of her Wound gain on kill ability, I don’t think Xoti has to be a DPS. She doesn’t have to deliver that much damage, nor throw as many attacks as Monks tend to do. All she needs to do is throw one good hit. Specifically, the last one. With that in mind, the sickle and lantern still isn’t going to cut it; she needs a weapon that can help her killsteal her own party members as reliably as possible. Ideally, the weapon would; - Have high base damage so Xoti can land the one good hit for the kill; that pretty much means a 2H weapon. - Has enchantments that helps with maximising the damage per hit as much as possible, and - Comes with an on-kill effect to further incentivise Xoti making the kill. Now, if you’re anything like me, you probably max’d out Xoti’s Religion passive skill as a reflection of her… evangelistic tendencies. That said, doing so makes one weapon in particular hit all three points above; specifically, The Twin Eels Greatsword. The offensive potential of The Twin Eels lies in its Death’s Embrace enchantment, a Hit-to-Crit percentage that scales with Religion; in other words, perfect for Xoti who’s likely to have the most Religion in the party. This can be boosted with an additional Hit-to-Crit roll from the Bone Setter’s Torc Amulet, increased attack speed thanks to the Helm of the Falcon, and complemented with the Swift Flurry-Heartbeat Drumming Monk combo. And the fact that Xoti can gain Wounds for each kill means that she can access a synergy specific to her alone; it turns Rooting Pain from a retaliatory passive into an offensive one, since Xoti earning 3 Wounds per kill also means she gets 3 rolls of the dice to activate it on enemies unlucky enough to be in the vicinity. And when all of this comes together, it can look like this; Also, there are a number of weapons with on-kill effects in the game, but only The Twin Eels has a Heal-on-kill that also scales with Xoti’s Religion skill. With max Religion, plus healing boosts from the Love of Life enchantment on Furrante's Breastplate, Bone Setter’s Torc, Footprints of Ahu Taka and Practiced Healer, the Health that Xoti can heal with each killsteal can add up to a pretty decent amount indeed; With this setup, Xoti is best played not as a DPS per se, but positioned just behind the frontline doing Priest things such as healing and buffing… until her party members have reduced an enemy to Near Death, at which point she becomes an opportunistic killstealer charging in to deliver the final blow, gaining Wounds and healing her party members when she lands it. This let's Xoti contribute to the fight while not neglecting her healing duties, making the best of both her subclasses. Xoti, the Sacrificing With Furrante’s Breastplate, Xoti makes her party members that much tougher thanks to the Bodyguard enchantment, which makes them take 10% less damage as long as she sticks close to them. This comes with the flipside that Xoti herself takes 15% more damage from all sources, making her squishier than usual. This would be bad in most cases, but as a Monk, it also helps to fuel her Wound generation as well, making it a win-win proposition. She can double down on that with the Intervention enchantment, which gives her access to the Take the Hit ability usually reserved for single-classed Fighters. This makes her party members even tougher for a short period of time, at the cost of causing more damage to Xoti herself… fueling her Wound generation even further. And at times when a party member is close to dying and desperately needs a burst heal, Xoti can provide with the Sacrifice of Saints enchantment from the Saint Omaku’s Mercy Warbow; With max Religion, Xoti can heal any party member from dying up to near full Health once per Rest, which comes at the cost of Xoti herself eating Raw damage… which again fuels her Wound generation. Along with Priest staples such as Restoration, Consecrated Ground, Revive the Fallen, Barring Death’s Door and Resurrection, Xoti can thus keep her party alive that much longer simply by being there. However, all this utility comes at a cost of making her pretty damn fragile. So, how do I keep Xoti alive in the face of all this? Xoti, the Undying I do it by giving her The Undying Burden Belt, which reduces the incoming weapon damage Xoti suffers by up to 30% as she loses Health (it also gives her a second use of Second Wind, which is why I recommended Athletics as her active Skill). On top of it, I also gave her the Voidward Ring, which reduces the Raw damage she takes by 25%; very useful for minimising the damage taken from Sacrifice of Saints and Take the Hit in particular. But the key piece of gear that really helps keep Xoti on her feet is Nemnok’s Cloak; while it makes Xoti even more squishy by making her take an additional 15% damage, it also gives her Spirit Shield and Ironskin when she falls below half Health. Together with Iron Wheel, Xoti can go up to 22 AR; It certainly doesn’t hurt that the Cloak also gives Xoti a free Barring Death’s Door when she’s… well, at death’s door. And should all these defenses still not suffice to keep her from falling to 0 HP, the Renewal enchantment from The Twin Eels (which also scales Health regained with Religion) lets Xoti automatically revive for free once per Rest, letting her stand up to get right back it again; This means that Xoti is capable of saving lost fights single-handedly, bringing her fallen party members back to their feet in turn. All these means that despite taking more damage than the rest of the party, this build makes Xoti a tough cookie in her own right, and capable of filling in as an off-tank in a pinch. Final Thoughts Pros: - Contributes to party DPS and Health at the same time by killstealing for fun and profit. - Makes her party members tougher just by existing, and is capable of pulling them back from near death. - Is unexpectedly tough in her own right, and can save seemingly-lost fights by her own hand. Cons: - Several key pieces of equipment are late-game gear (Furrante’s Breastplate, Nemnok’s Cloak), which means this build will not be fully realized until rather late in the game. - Tier VIII and IX Priest and Monk abilities are some of the most powerful in Deadfire, which means the Valkyrie build, despite its effectiveness, still involves trade-offs. - As effective as the Valkyrie of Gaun is, it doesn’t do anything to mitigate Xoti’s zealous and sometimes-annoying personality. Last but not least, see the attached file for the AI script I created for Xoti as the Valkyrie of Gaun. Xoti Custom (Contemplative) (Druid Monk Priest) (e38db4a0-68b9-4f2c-ac8a-5bd58d0a69e3).customai

  10. No you misunderstand. The PEN check is separate. There's a "total weapon damage" that goes through PEN/immunity. The lash is based on that total weapon damage, with its own PEN/immunity check. Put another way, the input for the lash isn't the weapon damage number you see in the combat log, it's a number BEFORE pen/immunities are checked. The weapon damage number you see (or don't see, for immunities) in the combat log as the final result is something else entirely that isn't directly related to your lash. This isn't hypothetical. Go get a spiritual weapon with contrasting weapon damage and lash damage types and use it against an enemy with immunity to your weapon damage. You will still do lash damage. You can get NO PEN alerts even if you have full penetration on the enemy, because your lash is underpenetrating.

  11. Because in Pillars 1, there was a choice of generic enchantments you could slap on your weapons, and they were called Burning/Freezing/etc Lash added 20% of that damage type to your attack, if I recall. I can't answer the entirety of your main question, but I can mention some behavior I'm familiar with. There are fire immune enemies, and there are also fire immune enemies. See the difference? Well, me neither, but some types of fire immune enemies are only immune to fire damage, which means that if I attack them with Flames of Devotion, I do normal attack damage. Others are seemingly immune to the entire Fire keyword, in which case attacking them with FoD does nothing at all. It actually shouldn't matter for anything you asked, but it might be interesting anyway.

Press X Nothing occurs at all or up to 2 mins later =========== VENDOR INTERACTION - PURCHASE Issue: Some environment points that should be interactable do not show the X button prompt when near them Frequency: Regular Steps to reproduce While in any explorable area (except for sea traversal map gameplay) move over to a blue highlighted interactable point. If the area is considered to be unreachable by the character the prompt will not show, rendering it impossible to interact with. Note: for this one the workaround is to press Triangle, manually move the cursor over the interactable and press X. However this doesn't always work and there are just as many locked interactables as there are interactable ones. =========== VENDOR INTERACTION - PURCHASE Issue: It is not possible to interact with a vendor inventory, preventing the player from purchasing items they have on offer. Frequency: Intermittent Steps to reproduce While in a town/city area, find a vendor and press X, selecting the option to purchase something from them. When the purchase inventory menu appears, attempt to use the D-Pad to move over to the Vendor NPC inventory =========== TOWN/CITY TRAVERSAL Issue: Interactable 'area exit' icons which allow movement between sections of towns/cities go dead and cannot be interacted with, resulting in the player being trapped in a particular area. Either from another part of the map or a building/house within the map. Frequency: Regular Steps to reproduce While in a town/city area, move to any exit until the 'leave area' icon appears and press X Game does not react trapping player in area, forcing them to restart game. =========== SHIP TRAVERSAL Issue: Game hard crashes to a blue screen when attempting to switch between a town/city map and the ship traversal map Frequency: Intermittent Steps to reproduce: While on the 'fast travel' map of any given town/city (e.g Neketaka) move the cursor over the leave city by sea icon in the bottom left of the screen and press X Wait for the loading screen to pass Game hard crashes to error report screen a few seconds after the sea traversal map loads in. ======== ENCHANTING Issue: Game hard crashes to a blue screen when attempting to enchant any item with the enchant option. 17. are you sure this actually works? Ancestor's Memory at last check can only be targeted on allies not yourself. So this could work for two separate characters, but not one multiclass. (And really, anyone plus ancestor's memory is powerful, I don't think assassin is particularly any more powerful than e.g. a priest being able to spam BDD and Salvation of Time on everyone.)

  18. I played Pathfinder: Kingmaker on Normal difficulty but with the enemies customized to 100% (they are set to 80% on Normal, for whatever reason), i.e. with the rulebook as it is. (*) Being someone who wants to avoid walkthroughs and discover pretty much everything on their own, I never once had difficulties with the timers. (I have no idea how close I came to that, of course, except in the main quest, where I wasn't close.) However, after finishing the game I found out there were some puzzles which not only did I not solve, I didn't even find the rooms they were in. But that's fine, the game was enjoyable. (*) I did turn the difficulty down to the easiest possible level at the very end, at the House at the End/Edge of Time, because I thought the encounter design there was just ridiculous.

  20. Yeah I feel very sad for him because I have tremendous respect for him as a game designer and writer. But at the same time, I agree that if you are going to be in this business you need to develop a thick skin and be able to not take things personally. And most of all, be able to take that gut-punch, get back up on your feet, put the (perceived) failure behind you, and move on.

  21. That's the plan. I hope to eventually post Ultimate Edition builds (including updated versions of previous Companion Builds I posted in the past) for every Companion and Sidekick. May take some time though, since some theorycraft builds still need testing, and I'm running low on time these days. I'll need one more play through at least to fully test some builds I have in mind.

  22. Thanks to a generous gift, Im now playing Pathfinder Kingmaker. Rolled an Aasimar Paladin and played around ~1 hour. Difficulty = Easy, kingdom management = auto. I think I done already messed up by somehow not choosing heavy armor proficiency but maybe I can choose it later? Fun so far and I like the graphics.

  23. Thanks. Too bad it got turned from an automatic ability (see Priest's Holy Radiance) into a normal spell where it has to compete with much better alternatives. Same with Grimoire Strike (which wasn't so good to begn with even as an encounter-based ability).

  24. Why should Assassin/Ascendant be specifially broken? Because of the bit higher damage from stealth? You'll get your first fill of focus quickly but honestly you can do so with a lot of class combos as long as you pick an AoE weapon like mortars or a rod (keep in mind first recovery from stealth atttacks has a 80% bonus). In my opinion Helwalker or Berserker are even more powerful in combination with an Ascendant once you reach PL 7. Because once you are ascendend you want a) the ascension to last as long as possible and b) you want to cast as fast as possible. Ascendant/Streetfighter with blunderbuss (Kitchen Stove or mortars) is also right in that alley. A combo that I really like with Cipher is Forbidden Fist. Even if the Forbidden Fist ability doesn't generate focus it enfeebles the enemy which makes Disintegrate last 50% longer. Combine with sky-high INT from Duality of Mortal Presence and then Body Blows, Enervating Blows and Stunning Surge and you can also crit with your Disintegrat easily, adding another 50% duration. Even on bosses with stellar Resolve you can first cast Psychovampiric Shield to take away 10 RES. It is a very useful combo for the late game. Ascendant works nicely as well but I prefer Beguiler. Best thing is that charmed enemies don't flip back if you hit them with Disintegrate. If you also have a Ranger in the party (Takedown Combo) the Disintegrate damage will also get +100% bonus (Takedown Combo will not get removed by Disintegrate sice there's no damagig hit roll - yet it will profit with every tick). While we are at Assassin and late-game powerplay: A funny and powerful combo with Assassin is Bloodmage + Arkemyr's Brilliant Departure. CC spells as well as all "Wall" spells don't remove the invisibility from that spell. Also spells that apply a "pure" DoT effect without initial damage (Concelhaupt's Corrosive Siphon, Corrosive Skin, NOT Necrotic Lance) will not remove it. At least they didn't in the past... You get +PEN and +ACC with all spells that don't do damaging hit rolls and stuff like Wall of Many Colors without becoming visible. It's like cheat mode. You can also skip Assassin and use Arkemyr's Brilliant Departure with Concelhaut's Corrosive Siphon & Skin (you won't become visible either while upholding invisibility with Wall of Draining, healing from Blood Sacrifice with Corrosive Siphon, killing with Corrosive Skin). Enemies be like "Huh? Why is Rudy melting like wax? And Gustav and Klaus, too? Ahhh!"
