Okay now I know how serious you are about not wanting to support this game if you would rather donate money to Star Citizen ....thats some serious lack of confidence and I have to accept I cannot change your mind ...ever :teehee:

Beyond the anouncement itself I've not ready any good news, so..

Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L. Mencken

I dunno, this game looked great initially but now it's in limbo. This is another PREY, Duke Nukem Forever, Beyond Good & Evil 2 etc.

Also, I think Chris Avellone should be hired to write for the next Sponge Bob game. Would seriously play it though, an isometric turn-based RPG set in Bikini Buttom...why not!

There used to be a signature here, a really cool one...and now it's gone.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 was almost cancelled, Paradox reveals

Quote

In an interview with Nyhetsbyrån Direkt (via Avanza), Wester revealed that as Paradox took control of the series from its previous developers, it almost scrapped the game completely.

“When we lifted the game from the original developer, we had a long review in case we should end the game or run it further,” he said. “Then we were actually prepared to close the production completely. But we got a ‘pitch’ that we thought was convincing enough to run. played on and we have very good hopes that it will be a good game that meets the players’ expectations.”

Paradox has yet to reveal which studio is now handling Bloodlines 2 development. However, Wester said that it is “a very reputable and talented developer”.

Still no real news

I hope it turns out good but I'm not holding my breath. Games that have gone through production hell and multiple developers... This sort of thing generally doesn't have a happy ending.

I dread saying this out loud, but my super secret inside voice whispered, "maybe Obsidian is working on it" when I got to the end of that article

I know Obsidian has worked with Paradox before (on the excellent Tyranny), but that was before they were acquired by Microsoft. It's not impossible that Microsoft and Paradox worked out a deal but I'd give it an extremely unlikely.

8 minutes in and he still didn't say anything related to Bloodlines 2. And I can see that first thing he mention is because its not because it was too woke. I worked on few games in AAA industry and I can almost guarantee it was because team was too woke which might cause different issues as well (either technical issues or management issues)

I'm the enemy, 'cause I like to think, I like to read. I'm into freedom of speech, and freedom of choice. I'm the kinda guy that likes to sit in a greasy spoon and wonder, "Gee, should I have the T-bone steak or the jumbo rack of barbecue ribs with the side-order of gravy fries?" I want high cholesterol! I wanna eat bacon, and butter, and buckets of cheese, okay?! I wanna smoke a Cuban cigar the size of Cincinnati in the non-smoking section! I wanna run naked through the street, with green Jell-O all over my body, reading Playboy magazine. Why? Because I suddenly may feel the need to, okay, pal? I've SEEN the future. Do you know what it is? It's a 47-year-old virgin sitting around in his beige pajamas, drinking a banana-broccoli shake, singing "I'm an Oscar Meyer Wiene"

? He talked about Bloodlines 2 from the beginning.  His conclusion is that Hardsuit Labs, not having had a narrative team before Bloodlines 2, made major dumb moves because they'd never managed a narrative team including finalizing and recording VO too early in the process that set up delays in the development and incurred extra costs.

I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man

Its only speculation on his part tho, he does not have any evidence for it. But I agree they sure did some major dumb moves

I've never seen the word "woke" appear in a publishing agreement, but they'll usually specify what happens if the studio fails to deliver the game by the deadline.

I'm just going to put out there that Obsidian has a combat designer job posting that mentions "exceptional first-person gunplay experience" in Unreal Engine 4. I'm not sure how many guns they're planning to put in Avowed...

(Note: More likely that's an Outer Worlds 2 posting)

I'm just curious why the hell they would record VO this early. I wouldn't even think about recording VO at this stage unless I do it as a placeholder.

Obsidian recorded an awful lot of dialogue for the 'Syriana' version of Alpha Protocol. All (?) the levels got retasked, but a lot of the dialogue was ultimately recorded but discarded. There was a fair amount in KOTOR2 as well for that matter, hence the presence of VO in the restoration project.

Not that AP was a particularly well run project of course- and there was a pretty good excuse for K2 given the, uh, short dev cycle- but it isn't just inexperienced devs that do it

And I'm just going to mention that since Alan stopped posting, we have an opening in the forum community for someone who's name starts with A. So far Amentep and Azdeus have been trying to cover the gap, but there is only so much they can do. (In comparison, we Ms have them outnumbered easily (high-five @marelookeand @Malcador)). *

*Apologies to people who's username starts with A and who I did not count, like Agiel and Achilles. If I included you above, we Ms wouldn't outnumber you As, which would undermine the point of the post
