  1. Yeah, what he said! I may have jumped the gun, being new to this moderator business. Tigranes is manifestly right in saying that there are valid points to be seen, and you guys have been making them. So, commence the debate, but no casting stones or rising up with pitchforks and fiery brands!
  2. On second thought, I *am* going to lock this thread. When things calm down, maybe we can revisit. When I get home, I'll contact some members personally. :Cant's not grinning icon:
  3. Just thought I'd mentioned that I've been approving all the posts and nothing seems completely overboard to me. Even so, I'll preach calm and hope that you guys keep your attacks to positions rather than people. :Cant's slap on the back and broad grin icon:
  4. There's a console commands/cheat thread around somewhere and I'll try to find it and link to it. However, keep in mind that it will be, by definition, a spoiler thread. There's been some heated debate regarding a respec tool in the future, but I haven't seen anyone link to anything official for it. Because of the beta, I had this idea that maybe perception might be important for dialogue, so I actually gimped my mage and didn't put in as much in might so I could make sure he had high perception. ...And, of course, my high intelligence has made the biggest different. on the other hand, I'm barely into the game now. :Can't sheepish grin icon: EDIT: Here's the console commands thread: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/71903-console-commandscheats/?p=1600712
  5. I've only recently been able to play the game. I will say, from my perspective, that PotD on Iron Man mode is essentially reducing the game to the mechanical aspects of the CRPG. The point of iron man is to prove that you can create the most efficient 'build,' not enjoy the writing the most. I might or might not do one of the PotD iron man runs, but I, like everyone else should, take for granted it's not the mode meant for the inner RPG child. It's a purely bragging rights endeavor meant to prove that you've got some game theory chops. I don't get a chance to read the posts as thoroughly as I like, so where I've repeated someone else's view, take it as an affirmation.
  6. I realized that one of the two hero versions of the game was actually a royal version associated with my box. So the bad news is that I'm going to have to buy a hero copy to give to the buddy who thought he had a copy. The good news is that I can now play the game! So, I'm playing Pillars of Eternity. I've been jonesin' to play, and I'm clearly a backer, but I will say now that I've been impressed so far. I haven't played enough to feel comfortable giving it my unreserved approval (having been burnt in the past by various games) but if it stays this good... *awesome!*
  7. There can be only *one...* official romance thread. Seriously, though, please confine the romance debate to one thread.
  8. Merged topics and left double post since it's not identical. Good luck with your cause, guys.
  9. Approved this thread and removed Duplicate. No problem on the duplicate thread, sebulrn. New members are moderated briefly in order to keep out nasty spambots, so you won't always see your posts and threads straight away. We try to get them pushed through as quickly as possible. With the game just hitting the shelves the past couple of days, it's been busy, buy you'll be posting free and clear very soon. :Cant's broad grin icon:
  10. Just remember, Hurlshot, you are a tower of iron will... and your will isn't the only thing that's iron apparently. <.<
  11. Assuming it works as you say, deama, that's great! I don't intend to solo. I like having a party for the giggles and grins, but it's always good to see folks making mods to accommodate different desires.
  12. The important thing is to address each others' arguments and not take things personally. Kind of tough sometimes, especially when we get emotionally invested, but try to keep some perspective. After all, you could be fighting tooth and nail one day and allies on the next.
  13. If there's a link to the image that you can send me, InkStone, I'll edit it into your post and then quote it to bump the thread.
  14. Hey, Tort, beautiful dog! Sometimes, I wish I had a dog. I worry about my cats, but I've seen many dogs and cats actually get along really well. ...and not just on facebook videos. Anyhow, the wife bought me a new walking stick when we out yesterday. So, I broke it in with a six mile hike in the hills. All during that time, making my way up the side and then walking up on the ridge overlooking the splendid San Bernardino valley, I was on my phone trying to push through the relentless number of moderated posts in the PoE fora. :Cant's eye twitching insane grin icon:
  15. This seems to be a bug, so I'm going to relocate the thread to Tech Support but leave a redirect here in this forum. Good luck, Wingless! EDIT: Clarified.
  16. I haven't received my copy in the mail yet, but this one did make me laugh. I'm trying not to be spoiled, but I have to read a ton of posts and so I can't help but be forewarned about some things in the game. Anyhow, just an aside. Carry on. :Cant's rueful grin icon:
  17. My first tip is that if it's frustrating, dial it down to easy. That's the first tip. We're kind of swamped with new threads and posts right now, so I can't give more detail, but my post here will bump your thread up so one of the many grognards in the group can weigh in to help you. Good luck, man! EDIT: Approved this thread and removed duplicate.
  18. Killing creatures does not, in and of itself, yield experience points. However, killing creatures does improve your bestiary, which *does* yield XP. That tops out after the creature in question has been fully detailed in your bestiary. Also, killing a creature that completes a quest will yield you quest XP as you complete and turn in quests. At least that's how I believe it was working. I haven't received my game yet to give it a shot. :Cant's wry grin icon:
  19. Topics merged as there seems to be a workaround solution to the problem. I hope so, at least. :Cant's wry grin icon:
  20. I merged velocd's thread into this one. It seems that you're both looking into the same thing and his post goes somewhat to helping answer the question... I hope. Good luck, guys!
