  1. Yeah, that's what happens. "It isn't working! Oh... Wait... No, you really *are* healed?"
  2. Perfect, and I ain't lyin'! :Cant's bad pun icon: Oops, got confused. I'll have to read this one from the beginning You're tags were perfect, lyin321.
  3. I've noticed this as well. It hasn't bugged me, no pun intended, but it is noticeable.
  4. Don't sweat it. Done and done! Good luck and happy adventuring.
  5. It's not really limited by number of edits but rather by time. If you post once and then come back later, you'll probably not be able to edit your post. As long as you're not spamming, a double post from time to time is an age old tradition for online BBSes. :Cant's wry grin icon: Good luck and happy adventuring!
  6. I've seen threads about this and I'll try to find where one is and merge your thread into it. Good luck and happy adventuring!
  7. Okay, play nice guys. ...But I have to admit I actually laughed out loud at this. In the early game at least, that fan of flames is a real beat down and, if you want, it's not that hard to rest up to get more spells. I'm playing on normal with an RPG rather than optimal build, and my mage still puts the smack down on things. I haven't even paid attention to who does the most damage as, since it's an RPG run, all that matters is that we get the job done. Now, I do have to say that I don't think having two mages is optimal, but I just had the other mage concentrate on a different path.
  8. I could have sworn I saw a setting turning off party members attacking on their own Not home right now so I can't check, though.
  9. Once again just a friendly reminder not to call each other names and the like. Attack each other's positions and arguments rather than each other personally. Also, please be charitable. If someone says something in the heat of the moment that doesn't strictly go beyond the pale, give them a break. Assume that the vast majority of arguments here are made in good faith and address each of them with intellectual honesty. Think to yourself, is taking the hill worth leaving everyone's corpse on top of it? I swear, I'd host my own little beer summit if I could, but with the number of people in this thread, I don't know if I could afford the bar tab! :Cant's rueful grin icon:
  10. As far as I know, there's no strict tanking abilities. I've been in an early dungeon with some spectral bad guys and they not only ignore the fighter, they pop in behind my two wizards and start harassing them. Now, my fighter can usually engage one and then it seems to stick on him pretty well, but if there are others behind, they just appear at the rear ranks. Other beasties, however, will typically stay concentrated on the fighter if he can engage with them. Of course, I've been spending a lot of time here, so I haven't gotten far into the game yet.
  11. Don't forget to send some love to the NPCs. I guess, to Smoker's point, all attention on backer created content relates to the same question, but please keep in mind, apart from the political discuss, in which I won't engage, there's also the specific question of what control consumers should have over backer created content, such as NPCs. In the end, it really doesn't matter if your argument is offense, political, aesthetic, or simply you can dig the backer created stuff. The question comes down to what the backers can expect in backing the product and what the consumer can expect in playing it.
  12. Now, if they put in a player 'pet' who went around picking up loot for him, that would be pretty cheesy. I'd rail against it. I would use. ...But I'd rail against it.
  13. Well, I *did* address the NPCs also. :Cant's nervous smile icon: I don't want the crowd coming after *me* with the pitchforks and fiery brands. Well, the irony of that is that I would finally unite the two warring sides, which is something you could put on *my* tombstone.
  14. Try to be charitable to one another in this thread. Also, I've combined a couple of pro memorial/anti memorial threads. I don't think we can avoid some heated discussions. Fair enough. ...But we can *try* to keep them in one spot. Please confine fiery wrath to arguments and positions and not use it on other members. :Cant's bemused smile icon:
  15. No, it's not cheating! Come... to the dark side! Seriously, how does pixel hunting prove any prowess? Now, if hitting tab made all your foes fall dead, *that* would be cheating. <.< EDIT: Even rhetorical questions use a question mark, don't they?
  16. I wouldn't throw a fit if they put in a toggle, but I want to be able to see the tombstone that I paid to have put in the game. I won't get angry if other folks don't want to or can't see it. ...But I, personally, want to be able to visit that tombstone. I understand the NPCs are a little more in your face, but I don't begrudge the folks who paid for an NPC in the game getting it. After all, they backed the game at that level in order to get . Furthermore, they're really not all *that* cheesy. Some are better than others, for sure, but I haven't seen one that made me want to gouge out my eyes or anything. People pledged what for some of them was a significant or even great amount of money to help back the game and they were promised something in return. I think it's extremely unfortunate to have some people want to take that away from them. After all, these aren't people screaming for special status, such as the backer key thread and some others. These are people who pledged enough money to get the game off the ground and to surpass several milestones. They're getting nothing more or less than what they paid to get. Perhaps Obsidian, if it does another kickstarter, will rethink the tiers and pledges. That's fair. Use the input from this experience to modify your approach next time. ...But I hope they don't remove the content that people paid in good faith to see in the game.
  17. I got a notification that the box had shipped. I tracked it and the USPS webpage showed it as being in a (nearby) facility shipped 1 day priority on Friday. It finally reached me today (Tuesday). It was minorly irritating, but it wasn't Paradox' fault. The Post Office just didn't get it here sooner for whatever reason. :Cant's Grumbling Icon:
  18. I don't mind profanity as long as it fits the NPC and the setting. When it's thrown in as some way to prove how 'mature' the game is, it can actually be laughable. Some of the profanity in PoE is certainly part of the characterization, but some of it is offputting to me also. Overall, I don't think it's overdone, though. I mean, language for most of us is something we tailor to the situation and the company. If I'm alone and I accidently drip oil onto the garage floor, I'm going to curse up a storm. If I'm around the sisters of the Sacred Heart, I'm probably going to grunt and think dark thoughts to myself while smiling as best I can at them. I just figure the people in the game don't actually care about niceties what with all the things going on in town.
  19. That's a good point, Atoteh. My favorite of the actual 'BG' titles was TotSC. I usually cite BG2 as my third favorite IE title, behind PS:T and IWD, but the reality is that it's more like PS:T, IWD (with TotLM), and TotSC, followed by BG2. Without the TotLM added, BG2 would be my second and my third favorite overall is TotSC. So, yeah, make great xpacs and they'll help build that legacy. EDIT: A little slow tonight. Had to clean up. Again.
  20. I've had fun conversations with my NPCs. I haven't heard tons of banter just wandering around, but they have participated in dialogue. I've been here more than playing the game, but I've got three NPCs right now and their personalities are interesting. One of them is a bit... weird. As an aside, I really enjoyed Grimrock 2. It was a blast. ...And the ending was more gratifying and yet actually easier than the original Grimrock.
  21. I don't think it creates any sort of negative for combat. Very early in the game, there was an option to engage in combat. I did so because I wanted to learn something. That's it. Not looking for loot. Not saving my skin. I just wanted to find out the truth of a story I heard. When it became clear that I would be forced to fight, I did so gladly to achieve a goal I had set for myself. It wasn't even for a quest. I have, in these early levels, never once even looked at my quest log. I don't even know what's done or not, even though I've seen what appears to be some sort of quest box that briefly opens up as I do stuff. Unless you're looking for it, I don't think you'll miss kill XP.
  22. Yeah, I kind of feel bad about keeping the various pets in the stash. I have three so far.
  23. There is a surprising lack of clamor about the quest only XP. I figured it would be a much bigger issue than it has been.
