  1. I can get more than 10 levels in a minute in Diablo3. I can also get to level 10 in 12 minutes in WoW. Someone who hasn't played an authentic RPG might think things are going too slow. I have several thousand hours in Baldur's Gate, but time moved differently back then, or so it feels like. Gamers today generally aren't that patient.
  2. Hey guys, I love what I've seen of Pillar of Eternity so far. It has a lot comfortable utilities that I've been missing in the genre, especially the changing of play speed on-the-fly. I don't have much playtime yet so I can't comment on that, but I have noticed a few things. I'm not loving the attribute system. The way might modifies the power of spells feels off. That a caster is forced to put max points in 2 stats leaves him too constricted in stat distribution, vulnerable even. Maybe I'm wrong, I haven't played it much yet, but it seems to me it could be a problem. About the future. I hope there will be a sequel one day, but I also hope it is not too soon. It has become way too common that good games pour out new content to capitalize on their product leaving the quality of possible expansions lower than it could've been. If you truly want to by the spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate you will do what bioware did back then. They strengthened the weaknesses of the first game, added enough content to keep it interesting and didn't release till they had an amazing follow-up story.
  3. This has been said to death already, but don't worry. Look at it as an opportunity to enjoy the content more. It's not all about character strength development, a huge part of it is the story and realm you're in. PoE is supposedly the spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate(BG). BG had a level cap of ~7. The real cap was exp based and different classes needed different amounts of exp, but level 7 is considered the cap. So in comparison they've started out with more levels to obtain. I don't know how true they intend to stay to DnD, but if PoE resembles it at all you will get epic abilities at level 20. My guess is that we can look forward to something like that in the future. Constructing a meaningful and vast story at the same time isn't easy, give them a few years to get a sequel together. So far I am pleased with PoE and that's saying something considering I've shied away from the genre with the exception of Neverwinter Nights and Dragon Age Origins. Most games simply don't have a prayer when you've played the BG series. If you play this to the end and still want more I can recommend Baldur's Gate. I think they've fixed most of the bugs in the Enhanced Edition now, but otherwise the original is perfectly fine.
