Okay, folks, don't get too impatient with one another. Red here, LadyCrimson as you guys may call her, has been running point on this issue and I think she's getting the kinks worked out. I'll leave the specifics to her, but I don't think some sort of compromise is out of the question. I'm on record as saying I believe modifying the current forum structure for specific class forums would be "excessive and unnecessary" and would be largely uninhabited. ...But the squad *has* been talking about this, so don't think we've forgotten you.

I don't think there's a real problem with double posts as long as you don't habitually do it to nakedly to get attention, Rangoon. ...And at least your question is timely.

Strange empty "grid" at bottom left...
Cantousent replied to sebarkh pro's question in Patch Beta Bugs and Support
It's always there if I have Kana selected. If I select more than one party member selected, it goes away. Mine doesn't flicker, but it's always persistent in or out of combat. ...But each character has special abilities, even combat only ones, showing when selected. Unless it's getting in the way or causing mayhem, I think it's just part of Kana's abilities. At any rate, I'll leave the thread open for others to comment just in case I'm wrong. -

Kana is a chanter and that's a musical stave in the corner for when he starts chanting. Does it persist when you click on other characters? -
Animal companion fatigue
Cantousent replied to Matt516's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Thanks for searching cloudblade. In normal times it's not a huge deal, but in a forum and time like this it helps the devs if they don't have to search through several threads of the same issue. :Cant's grateful smile icon: -
I disagree. I liked Minsc, but he was a fourth stooge funny guy. He was Morte without the substance. He was Curly, who is only funny with Moe poking him in the eyes. I'm not putting down Minsc. I'm just saying that sometimes less can be more. Heaven forbid I cite Boo, who has Maris Syndrom in spades.

Crash at the bay

Three times doesn't seem that long. I'll let the grognards give advice, but the simplest thing is to lower the difficulty. No shame in that. -

I'd use context, personally. -
It's only about ten miles up, so just a day hike.

Vader would die killing Gandalf the Grey and Turn into Jedi Master Vader the Light. Anyhow, check into all I'd need to hike up to the San Gorgonio summit. Now, I need to go buy the parking permit and then call the ranger station to find out when I can get there tomorrow to pick up the permit I have to carry on my person.

First off, when the game first shipped, I didn't realize that one of the keys was Royal edition. So I didn't install the game immediately. Even after I did, there was so much going on around here, and about a million posts to approve, that I didn't get to play much. After all, when you volunteer to do something, you can't just stop doing it at crunch time to play a game. So, ironically, the thing preventing me from playing the game was the forum that exists because of it. Finally, over the past couple of days, I've had time to playin the evenings. This game is awesome. I refuse to recommend a game I haven't played. I wanted to wait until I'd played enough to know, really know, whether it was a good or not. Now I heartily recommend this game to anyone. I mean, there have been some minor issues that I've come across, but nothing significant. The lore is a bit weird, but I *like* weird. It's almost as good as the story-telling and lore in Planescape: Torment, but much more accessible. The music is great. My wife *incessantly* complains about game music so much I'm usually forced to lower the music so much I can barely hear it. She's always casting her Spell of Much Carping and I end up turning the music off. Tonight, she looks over and says, "very Titanicy." Now, my first instinct was to dismiss this insult to the game, but then it dawns on me that, while I personally don't hear the similarity, she meant it as a compliment. I can't believe my wife actually had something good to say about the music in an RPG. She virtually never likes the music in any game. The NPCs are extremely well done. I've found four joinable NPCs so far and created an adventurer to bolster my mechanics. The NPCs don't provide the endless prattle of the BG games, but they do interact with one another and they will interject in conversations. It's funny to see things that I personally wanted to see, things that had been a topic of disagreement or argument with other members, that have turned out as I wanted them. ...And I'm not gloating. I'm just glad. In particular, while he isn't my favorite NPC, the priest (I'm going to avoid using names in this forum) had some great lines. I honestly don't have a complaint about any of the joinable NPCs. I could probably play the 'they could have done this differently' game, but why? If I could have done a better job designing the game, I wouldn't need to wait around for theirs. I've been increasingly impressed with the game, but what put me over the top is the stronghold. This. is. awesome! The dungeon and the stronghold show that it's not just a great venue for storytelling. It really feels like a good table top experience. When I finally quit the game for the night, I was actually irritated that I had to stop playing. It's been a long time since I've had to tear myself away from a game. I don't regret a single penny I pledged and they can count on my continued support in the future. They did a great job with this one. ...and now that it's quieting down around here, they won't really need as many volunteers to help out and I can instead play more Pillars of Eternity! Hot diggity!

The way I did it is to initiated the conversation and then have my guys run down the stairs. I had the same party composition on normal mode. You could probably cheese positioning and stuff too, but I think you should be fine as long as you make it hard for the bad guys to bum rush you and flank everyone by sheer numbers. With a monk and Edar you should be able to position Aloth to get in some good AoE spells and the priest can probably just concentrate on keeping folks on their feet. Also, slowing the bad guys down and neutralizing the enemy caster can come in damned handy also. EDIT: Sorry, not the same group. I had a wizard, not a monk, so a lot of AoEs, but someone considerably squishier.

PoE - Sales figures STEAM
Cantousent replied to BillyCorgan's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
All in all, this thread isn't as bad as I had feared. Nevertheless, a lot of reports have come in about this thread, so... Look, guys, stop poking each other in the eye over removed or modified content. It's not like we've been blanket shutting down discussion, banning people, or stealing your eggos. All's we ask is that you don't non-stop troll each other. Be charitable with one another. See each other as people, not as screen names. Try to discuss the issue and not attack one another. Use the Force! -

Cantousent replied to vattghern's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
It's a light spoiler, but a spoiler nevertheless, so I moved this thread from general to stories. It probably doesn't require a spoiler tag. Just an oversight, so no real harm and no foul. Just try to keep spoiler and spoilerish things out of the PoE general forum. Thanks guys. -

Awesome Game.... Do it again!
Cantousent replied to Moogoo88's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I firmly believe in letting people have a say. However, talk about killing people and whatnot and I tend to get a little troubled. Look, I know people get rubbed raw by political correctness. I have sympathy for the irritation over these issues. However, I tend to draw the line at advocating or celebrating killing folks. So, time out. Start a new thread and keep going this idea going if you want.. ...But, please don't crow about killing people or people getting murdered. -
Mac OSX Yosemite: Crash on Startup
Cantousent replied to xavjr's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
We have a few mac threads out there. one involving the patch not installing. One involving trouble installing the game. Finally, your issue with the crash. If you don't get a response to this one, try sending a message to support at Support@obsidian.net. The boards provide an excellent place to find answers, so this is a good bet, but if there's no movement at all, go ahead and send something directly to support to make sure they've seen your issue.
