  1. Generally, I don't like bumping threads in which no one but the original poster has participated. I'm going to put this through, however, since I didn't find another PoE install problem for the mac in a quick search. There is, however, a thread about difficulty installing the patch on a mac. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/76132-cant-install-the-patch-on-my-mac/?hl=%2Bmac+%2Binstall If you don't get a response this time, kxk, try contacting support directly. Support@obsidian.net
  2. Thanks for sharing, Musely. I'm going to merge your thread in with the person who had the same problem. Good luck and happy adventuring!
  3. What difficulty are you playing, chengda? First thing I would say is that you should have options for at least one additional party member before you get to those fights, as that potential member is in the same area as Aloth. If the game is too tough, always consider turning down the difficulty. I don't have a lot of time to give advice, but hopefully one of the many ol' timer grognards can weigh in with additional advice.
  4. I'm not commenting on the politics of any particular discussion, but if you think a third party created an injustice, don't let them create another one by denying you the enjoyment of the game on top of it. Whatever politics abound, it's still a game, you own it, and it would be a shame if you let someone else deprive you of its use. I know tempers are running hot on this issue, but I just hope you reconsider and at least give the game a shot. Hell, even if you really love it, I'm not saying come back and praise the game. Keep complaining if you want, but at least get the use of the product you've purchased. :Cant's Dutch uncle icon:
  5. Sorry, a bit backed up this morning. Thanks for sharing!
  6. Hey, nomad, don't worry about the multiple posts. It's just because of the moderated status you had as a new member. You should be able to post regularly now and edit your new posts briefly also. No harm no foul.
  7. There's already a thread regarding the limerick here: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/75387-controversial-limerick-discussion-2/ I, personally, am not trying to stop discussion about the limerick. If folks really want to debate it, they're more than welcome. However, we're trying to keep the discussion in one spot so that other topics of discussion don't get lost in multiple threads on the same subject. If you *do* engage in the discussion, try to keep perspective and try to keep the groin shots and eye gouging to a minimum. :Cant's wry gin icon:
  8. Please continue your discussions regarding the limerick in this thread: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/75387-controversial-limerick-discussion-2/ Try to keep some perspective. Give yourself a timeout. Go walk the dog. Make a sandwich. spend quality time with the wife. Play the game, it's great! Then, when calm, come back and discuss this issue with each other charitably.
  9. Continued from here: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/74461-controversial-limerick-discussion/ Please keep the discussion to one thread and try to be charitable with one another. No eye gouging!
  10. Please refrain from advocating killing all [insert whoever here]. I let one about the elves go because... well... elves don't really exist, but try not to stick a finger in other folks' eyes. I know it's tempting to be mean, but try to treat each other charitably. ...And don't crow about the rise of censorship by advocating, even in jest, killing all [anyone] or you'll be censored. :Cant's one eyebrow raised smile icon:
  11. Above my pay grade, but I'm going to put this forward for help from up high.
  12. Okay, taking my own advice and heading out for a hike with the wife. Before I go, however, I will point out that a post that serves no other purpose than to attack another member will be removed. Remember, no eye gouging, low blows, or other things. Fight fair and leave... well... if not friends, then at least not mortal enemies. :Cant's hopeful icon:
  13. I hate to say this but it really doesn't make me want to play the game I backed anymore. Or any of them. I get you, Darkeus. I can't really comment on the actual argument itself, but I would just say this: if you enjoyed the game before you heard about the whole limerick issue, what difference will it really make? I'm not siding with anyone. I don't feel it's responsible as a moderator, even though I'm not employed by Obsdian. After all, when I volunteered, I accepted a certain standard and, unless it's a matter of principle, I'm going to keep my political opinions out of it. So, non politically, all I'm saying is that the person who lodged the complain would have scored two victories if she managed to impact the game *and* destroyed your enjoyment of it. The optional text staying the same or not has virtually no impact on the product as a game. If you like it, play it and think of it as a big raspberry to the person who lodged the complaint. ...and then mod the limerick back in if you so choose. :Cant's Dutch uncle icon: I meant no offense to the Dutch with that icon.
  14. I'm going to editorialize for just a moment. First of all, I don't see every post. If you report something from a member who doesn't need approval, I'm more likely to see it. ...But I think it's important to be charitable with one another. Only report things that rise to a reportable offense. That line will differ between members, but there is a line. The upshot, however, is that I mostly see posts by new (or newly posting) members of the forum. When I've gone through quickly, I've seen that most of the posts are actually pretty respectful even if clearly typed with some heat and passion. Fair enough. Remember, after this game is done, we're going to have more games and hopefully a lot more from Obsidian. The person fighting on the 'other side' right now might very well be the person backing your side in the next big fight. Don't let this become an all out war. If you get to where you're seeing red, take a break. Look at other threads. Play the game. Talk to the spouse. Play with the kids. Have a bite to eat (or a beer if you're of age and so inclined). Then, when you're not so heavily invested, come back and rejoin the discussion. Anyhow, I was originally surprised at how rancorous people were on this issue, but now I'm surprised that it has really actually remained pretty civil all things considered. Congrats, Obsidz forumites! Good for you!
  15. Welcome to the forum, Meinos Raen. While I can't agree or disagree with your main points, at least you thought about them and tried to present them in a productive way. :Cant's hearty greeting icon:
  16. I'll approve posts that don't attack members or break other forum rules, but I will lock new threads or merge them into one thread for this subject. Let's try not to clutter the forum with multiple threads on the same subject.
  17. Interesting take. I have to admit that this level of criticism is probably too technical for the vast majority of games, a huge chunk of whom don't count even standard American English as a primary language. Still, I did get a kick out of the photo. ...But I have to admit that I tend to skim the books rather than read them closely, so not a big deal for me personally.
  18. I was surprised in a hugely good way by WL2 myself. Got a free copy with my ks pledge for thus and was glad I pledged for ToN.
  19. Actually, I think the shirts are pretty good. The mouse pads are kind of cheapo but then again, they're mouse pads. I got two shirts, two decks of cards, two mouse pads, and then all the stuff in the box. I didn't expect anything to be 'fine' quality, let alone 'enchanted,' but it's not bad for the type of promotion it is. Still, I wore the tshirt to the gym yesterday and it soaks up sweat pretty well. That's all it needs to do for me. ...But yeah, Mal, it's pretty much promotional swag stuff. Except the decks. For cards, they're pretty sweet.
  20. There are other threads that address these specific issues. In fact, Raedrick's hold is a hot topic in different threads. I approved this one because you should get the chance to give voice to your issues but I'm closing it because it contains known issues that are currently hotly debated. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/72016-raedrics-hold-game-crash/page-1?hl=+raedrick's +hold http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/72064-sound-problems-constant-clicking-sound-and-no-speech/?hl=%2Bclicking+%2Bsound EDIT: "Sorry for whining.....i'm just so frustrated." No problem. Hopefully these are fixed and you can enjoy the game!
  21. I was a bit confused thinking that you'd double posted, but I see this is in a different thread. We'll probably clean these up eventually so there's only one thread, but for right now I hope you've got the solution right. Thanks for sharing! Good luck and happy adventuring.
  22. My t-shirts at this point are actually too big. Nooooo problem! I'll use it as a workout shirt. Anyhow, I've been hiking over the local mountains and found Dragon Back trail, Razor Ridge trail, and.... Jedi Trail! Huzzah!
  23. I haven't seen one so far. You might have to evaluate items based more on what they do than visual cues, but I'm actually happy about that. I remember... Pale Justice? in IWD? It didn't even have the blue border to show it was magical, so some folks would overlook it, but that sword was arguably the best in any IE game just for the coolness factor. :Cant's appreciative grin icon: On the other hand, dennis, I haven't gotten far into the game, so maybe I'm wrong.
  24. Say it ain't so! Actually, I'm still having a blast with my mage. Of course, I was somewhat dismayed to find out that I'd ended up with two, but no biggie. As long as Wizards are viable, I don't care if they're gimpy in one particular game or another. I'm still going to play one.
  25. I've actually made my gripes about the stat system, but I don't think it's going to unravel the game. I personally don't think stats are really the end all be all at any rate. They are important. They have a significant impact on the game, but you are faced with character decisions immediately that start to put stats in perspective as a part of an entire system. ...And, I submit, you can actually do quite well with a mediocre might build. That doesn't mean that I don't have my own issues with the system, but to relegate PoE to the trashbin of gaming history just seems premature to me.
