  1. Voted yes but as usual I don't think "traditional" would be appropriate, no bloody eye patches and parrots please, give us hard faced desperate men who do what they must to survive.
  2. I dunno about expensive, these guys have good imaginations and real life lingo is everywhere, I can't disagree that ****ty lingo could ruin a game though...or any fiction for that matter.
  3. I made a thread like this a few days ago but it didn't stick, so glad this one has, believable lingo really draws me into a world, it's deeply important for verisimilitude, voted yes of course
  4. I voted for a lot but I suppose there is an upper limit, to have a screen full of 2D animations churning in your face could be off-putting...either way I'd certainly like to see animations where you'd expect to see them, rivers, trees, boats etc, there's no need for static backgrounds nowadays.
  5. I generally dislike achievements but New Vegas had some good ones, especially the in game challenges with perk based rewards, love that stuff.
  6. I definitely want short voice clips now and again for flavour but there's no reason your character can't be referred to by name in the main body of text, I also like seeing this.
  7. I'd be fine with the Infinity Engine style of inventory, just with a few tweaks like an auto sort button and the ability to access all party members from a shopping window.
  8. While I don't like time limits on the main quest I wouldn't be against a few urgent sidequests, It's always slightly annoyed me when a quest is presented with a sense of urgency but on a replay it turns out that I could sit around for a year if I wanted to.
  9. Thanks guys, I'm quite messed up about it as me and my Dad are close but kind words do help in a very odd kind of way, currently the details are sketchy, last I heard the docs said he was all clear and on his way to a good (if very infirm) old age. On my Mum's insistence they did another scan, the docs resisted and predicted it would show nothing but they found his liver and upper bowel to be very cancerous and an embolism on a major artery in his heart, a ****ing hat-trick of death. When the doctor told them the results they were obviously shocked, they didn't ask how much time he might have or how treatable it is, so my first task is to see a doctor with them and ask these questions, my Dad intends to refuse treatment but I've asked him to at least find out what his options are before making a final decision. Beyond that I'll be doing my best to ensure Dad does everything he wants in the time he has left...bloody hell
  10. Today I found out that my dad is dying from advanced bowel and liver cancer, still in shellshock really, just trying to keep my mind busy, after such a good weekend with Project Eternity it's really kind of sucky, I'll deal with it but it's hard. *edit* Reading it in words is so freaky...
  11. I'd like a big city, I do love that feeling you get from a sprawling map with god knows how many secrets and quests to find, having said that I wouldn't be heartbroken if there was no major city, it's a hard thing to do right and I'd be just as satisfied with medium sized city if the other locations have been given enough love. *edit* Yeah, both the Dragon Age games failed at cities
  12. I was ready to argue against the thread title but I actually agree, adding a new character to the game is big work even for a text based RPG, it wouldn't hurt for Obsidian to say more about the logistics of it all. On the other hand I can totally understand why they're keeping the major details under wraps until the Kickstarter has run it's course, if they go spewing hard facts they risk people ragequitting over things like dwarves vs no dwarves.
  13. Jim Cummings is exactly the type of voice I'd like to hear in the game, absolutely dripping with character, able to imbue a small amount of lines with so much energy. The only problem is that he won't be cheap...ultimately I'd prefer the money to be spent on the game itself but I do think that memorable voices are important in a game like this.
  14. I'd be fine with a stripped down "needs" mechanic but I'm not sure that a New Vegas style system would suit the isometric perspective, you're not quite in the world to the same degree, having said that, if they could make it optional then what do I care
  15. Eurogamer is reporting that there could be no DRM if the project reaches 2.4m, dunno if it's official.
  16. I want guns, s'all I'm sayin...GUNS!
  17. This is really nice news to go to sleep with...at half past five in the morning, again
  18. I'd be so cool with them literally killing off all the elves, dwarves and orcs, a mass genocide with restless spirits plaguing the guilty and wars still being fought on spirit planes...anyway, once again I've stayed up all night because of made up stuff, bedtime
  19. I'd go for that over some of the forgettable junk we get from most computer games, character is so damn important when you only have a few lines to work with.
  20. This is how I feel, it's only worthwhile if they make some kind of mechanic out of it, it's just busywork otherwise, quest building options would be expanded quite a bit if characters are going to have money invested in the world.
  21. I vote for all of them, cleverly woven into a tapestry of awesome.
  22. If they reach ten million I demand two drops of Avellone's ball sweat for every backer.
